blackpanda: OP I think you are mixing two different issues. BASA Agreement and issuance of Visa are 2 different things. Every country has there own policy on issuance of visa to another country, this does not imply discrimination. Try applying for american visa or south african visa and see how difficult it is. Visa policy is completely different from BASA. Nigeria also has their own visa policy too, and it is very stringent for some countries. And while we may not have a national carrier, Arik Air has since been operating unofficially as Nigeria's national carrier. However, there are plans in the works to unveil our official carrier soon.
Mrs okigbo case is regrettable and i believe its something than can be negotiated between the two countries. I think the real problem here was misinformation or lack thereof. Never apply for visa from an airline's website, they might not be able to give specific accurate info since its not only nigerians looking to travel there. We saw lack of information on the side of the Nigerians representatives in the negotiation of the BASA agreement. When u negotiate, you try to get favor Le terms as much as u can. But the agreement didn't put those in consideration, as Mrs. Okigbo's case can show. So after the supposed agreement, is the visa terms for Nigerians now favorable? That's the issue |

HungerBAD: What? what is the definition of idle?
Is there not a clause in our Banking Laws that stipulates that Monies left after a certain time idly(hoarding) in the Banks, should be reported to the C.B.N who in turn have the powers to convert it into Federal Government Money? Cant the C.B.N name this owners of this $20 Billion? who are these Nigerians sitting on top of this money?
The Government should identify, arrest and prosecute those Nigerians who are guilty for the slide in the value of the naira by embarking on dollar speculation.
This Government is working. I hope u know your money is part of it? So long as u are not doing business with it. Apc supporters are amazing, if government wants to use their hard earned money saved at the bank, they will quickly oblige. After all that is what they can do for their country. |

shogbenga: physically assaulting someone isnt a criminal case but a civil offence. yes the act is condemnable but the Commandant mentioned that the cadets have been punished accordingly. what else do we want him to do.he only mentioned that NDA could have considered expelling the cadets if the offence was reported earlier. but looking at it logically if your child goes out to bully another person and beat the person up ,will u say he should be jailed? or is it because the offence was committed by uniform persons?we should note that the commandant mentioned that at the time the offence was committed, the cadets were 3 months old in NDA....youthful exuberance....meaning they should be about 17 to 18 years old. if the offence was committed by older cadets, the punishment would probably have been more severe. we should control our emotions before we judge there is criminal assault, it's both a civil and a criminal act. |

I don't think there is a place in nigeria that there is no road to. Which makes it better to put those road to use than to build new ones. Propaganda is what the VP is engaged in. There are roads in nigeria that are key. you can't leave a road like sokoto,kebbi- Jega road to build another one, you can only put it to good condition. same with lokoja to abuja road. So for me, new roads are not The necessity, it's just desirable. By The way, what has the Apc built since if not upon what was before. |

azzima: Nigerians were scammed with Okonjo ' s World Bank resume. Just like CHUKWUMA SOLUDO said "She was a secretary for the world Bank and not an economist. It's like saying that the head of Customer service of a bank is a Banker. Not all Bank employees are automatically called Bankers. The result of it is how she mismanaged our economy. If we can only remove tribalism from our psyche, then we will see how she obviously failed. Kemi Adeosun will be judged after her tenure. In case u need to know,Prior to her ministerial career in Nigeria, Okonjo-Iweala was vice-president and corporate secretary of the World Bank Group. Effective from 2007, she again became the managing director of the World Bank. In 2012, she was one of the contestants to the post of the world Bank president at the eve of The end of the then president. I wonder how a common secretary of the World Bank or the head of the customer service can contest the position of the world Bank president or the MD of the bank? Nb. Nobody, even SOLUDO can assail her achievements If SOLUDO has an Axe to grind, he shouldn't resort to distortion of facts |

We could av been exporting refine crude but PDP refused building refineries when there was money. They preferred to increase unproductive workers pay and steal us dry. HungerBAD: Seriously? just 14 days to move? why do i find it difficult to believe?
Lagos State is not like other States in Nigeria, and usually the State try to work within the Ambience of the Law and that is why this Story sounds strange. Will wait for for the State's version of the story.
Meanwhile.
Without meaning to throw Jabs at some people, this man fainted, woke up and took everything in his stride, and yes he is Yoruba. If it was some mischievous ones, who eat from the same plate of food with Onyeka Onwenu, they would have said they were targeted because they are very successful, and that is why the Oba Of Lagos wanted them to swim in the Lagoon without any Scuba diving gear.
There are the Markets in Lagos, and then there are the Rules of Laws that traders must adhere to.
I am very certain the APC Government of Lagos will compensate these traders, i have faith in them and their transparent ways. Why did u find 14 days notice difficult to believe yet u believed the man is yoruba? You need help |
