Politics › Re: Ben-Bruce: Give Students Biscuit & Don't Pay Workers, Get Biscuit Illiterates by Montaque(m): 1:36pm On Feb 10, 2016 |
seunmsg: Illiterate senator talking rubbish and thinking he's making common sense. He just goes about criticising everything just for the sake of criticising.
Primary education and paying schools teachers is strictly the responsibilities of state and local governments. Federal government is only supporting the efforts of the state government with the feeding program by ensuring school children are properly fed before classes. Students will never learn well when they are hungry so, there is nothing bad in federal governments plan.
Paying teachers promptly is good but not the major solution to the problem in the education sector. Most of the primary school teachers in rural states are not even qualified to teach and like the saying goes, 'you can't give what you don't have'. We saw the reactions of teachers in Ekiti and Edo state when the government wanted to administer competency test on them, they revolted and even voted out the Fayemi government in Ekiti and Edo state had to cancel the plan. What we should do now is for states to sieve the list of their teachers, sack the poor ones, invest massively in training the good ones and bring in fresh graduates just like the federal government is proposing with its plan to employ 500,000 teachers. with the reasoning in the last part of your post, you will still call Mr. Bruce an illiterate senator? You don't like the man I get it, but his message like the meaningful later part of you post is what the FG should be doing, not sharing biscuit. |

mapet: 1. That Fayose won the election as confirmed by Supreme court is different from the precedent that needs to be set to deter election rigging and wanton wastage of our resources just to pursue election as a do or die affair. 2. Fayose was seen on video planning the rigging of an election. The facts of the video as corroborated by Aluko is what played out. This needs to be investigated and culprits brought to book 3. It is the perogative of the Ekiti people to keep voting Fayose, if they so please. But it is our collective responsibility to make sure our money is not spent illegally and the 4.7billion Illegally spent to "execute" Fayose's election in Ekiti needs to be recovered U should know that part of the grounds furnished by APC during the tribunal was The use of the military to rig the election. despite the prove of that, the court upheld the election. The SC affirmed that. If fresh evidence emerged after the finality of the decision of the supreme court on the matter, it cannot be re litigated again. even if fayose is indicted by the panel as set up, they can only wait till he ceases to be governor. it has been held by the SC that immunity cannot bar proper investigation by the police. But jurisdiction to present those evidence in court is inchoate during the Tenure of the accused. In fact, the cases Falana mentioned were all to the effect that election petition tribunal has jurisdiction over the elected governor over the election process, and that he cannot hide under immunity to avoid being a party at the tribunal. However in this case, the tribunal has given its judgement and is at now, functus officio. I will advise that they gather their evidence till 2018, when he ceases to be governor. |
Politics › Re: #ekitigate: Fayose Can Be Prosecuted If Indicted, Says Falana by Montaque(m): 12:44pm On Feb 09, 2016 |
seunmsg: The question is, can he be charged for electoral fraud even as an incumbent governor? That is the question Femi Falana tried to answer and I think I agree with his argument. If governors can be charged to court to defend their election, then, it's logical to say they can be charged for electoral fraud irrespective of the immunity clause. the only means of challenging that has been spent. The court of appeal made a finding on the use of the military during the election, yet returned him as elected. This was also affirmed at the SC. The whole issue now is way behind time and no other court has jurisdiction over the matter |
Politics › Re: Yahaya Bello Appoints Achuba As Deputy Governor by Montaque(m): 11:48am On Feb 09, 2016 |
Joarams: You stand with Faleke of Lagos (House of Rep) OR Faleke of Kogi (deputy Gov to Audu)? Where in the two situations can he lay claim to the Governorship? On compassionate grounds or by moral code expected of his party, APC? Faleke has no statutory right to the Governorship...he was only a potential deputy. The claim that the initial election was conclusive is unfounded...this Supreme Court that has upheld all INEC-approved elections so far will not do otherwise in Kogi.
The most logical beneficiary you're looking at is Idris Wada of the PDP (in the case where a Supreme Court decision removes Bello as not validly nominated by his party, APC). idris wada? U need to read the decision in boni haruna in adamawa state. The second runner up in another party doesn't come up at all. Faleke being a HOR member does not disqualify his being a deputy or governor in a state. The provision is that he resign such seat when taking up the seat of the governor. At the point that audu died, the party can no longer substitute a candidate again. Whether it takes long or short. faleke will triumph |

Politics › Re: #ekitigate: Fayose Can Be Prosecuted If Indicted, Says Falana by Montaque(m): 6:46am On Feb 09, 2016 |
This argument is faulty. The only Avenue for deciding the winner of an election is the Election petition. And ekiti has been tested up to the supreme court. If facts emerges later that there was fraud in the process, the supreme court decision stands against that evidence of fraud which is rebuttable. Falana should wait for him to complete his tenure. You cannot use the left hand to remove what the right hand has given. |

johnnday222: bro, sentiment aside.I don't see faleke becoming the governor atleast for another 4yrs.cos in the first place he (faleke's name) was nt on the form purchase for primary by audu and he was never the flag bearer of the party even if bello didn't take the post it will stil not go to faleke bt to d 3rd person at the primary election Who was the running mate to Audu? that's what we know in law. As at the time the governor elect died, elections were partly concluded and every bit of the primary election has been spent in law. The ticket as at that point belongs to Audu and/or faleke |

doctokwus: Don't come here saying thrash and trying to weep up useless sentiments. I detest senator Na 'Allah because he seems anti people and was the one that proposed that social media bill, but he made a lot of sense in regards to the national conference. What Na'Allah basically said is this:that GEJ had no legal backing to have conveyed that confab because Nigeria operates a constitutional democracy, that GEJ conveyed the conference by fiat, which is clearly illegal. That if GEJ was serious about d confab,he should have found a way of enacting a law or act to give effect to the confab. It's almost similar to what the supreme court has done with the card reader because it claims its not in the electoral act. Na'Allah made plenty sense. One may detest the man but in this, gej has again been exposed for his utter cluelessness. Meanwhile Op,u are irritating to have brought tribe into this.So this govt is against the confab recommendations bcoz it favors the Ibos? Instead of projecting the Igbo race, its your type that continue diminishing the Ibos in the eyes of people that otherwise hold them in high regards with this abhorrent victim mentality. the confab wasn't meant to supercede the constitutional legislature. it was to gather up a common weal which will be legislated into law to form part of the constitution. The hon. senator shouldn't base the non implementation on legality, it was never meant to be so. He should tell us the fact that the group that conceded more wouldn't want the confab recommendations to see the light of the day. Anyway, he's got a perfect scapegoat like all Apc. |
