I just want to comment on the sacked VC's.
As far back as 1985, the supreme court in Olaniyan vs Unilag defined the position of university lecturers and staffs whose office enjoys statutory flavour, such that there us a laid down procedure for their sack and hire. they are not like other employee that u can sack at will. We are expected to build up on that with further cases of the unillorin 49 lecturers in 2005 and other similar cases.
But more than 30 years after this precedent had been laid, and the due process cemented, pmb has taken us back to the hay days. That he can just wake up one morning to sack university chancellors without consulting the uni council nor following the Act setting up those institutions. its worth our tears.
Nigerian student should be alarmed, (even if u don't like some bad lecturers n staffs).
Let us know that not to follow due process is the chief of all corruption in Nigeria. we need strOng institution, not strong men.

You know less of why the protest is necessary. There are employees of the federal government that can't be fired at will, and ASUU fought for that and got it. That's now stipulated in the university laws, the means and procedure for hiring and sacking, it's no longer government affair solely. Ask people in the sug circle and those in the know. The protest is ripe and the ASUU suppose to champion it.

The anti corruption efforts should be directed towards the university community. VC, lecturers, HOD,Rector,administration staffs, all of them.
