Wow - This is amazing. Good job by the Lakers. Orlando just did not play as well in this series. It's all good though. If they ever tie 3-3 (i know it's close to impossicant), i'll be laughing my head off. If not, Papa Shaq should go bury his head in sand. Whichever way - one of them is receiving a ring this year (Kobe more likely than Howard)

@Moonie
I agree with you on that one bringing Nelson back was unfair on Alston and Anthony Johnson thats the dude i even pity the most cos he's been kicked out of the rotation you should have seen him on the bench yesterday!you would have cried for him its the perfect case of monkey dey work baboon dey chop and i hope they lose this series besides who told them they would have made the NBA Finals if Nelson was healthy
I completely agree about the unfair part, dearie. But seriously I feel sorry for him. . . it's not easy to just be dumped like that after going that far with them. Nelson needs to stay out for one game. . . and the difference will be clear.
chiogo:

Same here, I'm gonna miss my NBA. But then, it's summer. I'll probably be too busy for that and before you know it, fall is here - new season!

I can't wait till New Season jare. Seems so far off. I wish it could go on all year round. cheesy cheesy cheesy

Damn, you're such a hater . . . it's freaking ridiculous grin grin
Come on . . . you hate number one and two . . . you hate Roddick too

I don't need psychic powers to know that you're not a big fan of Murray either . . . grin grin
Don't hate, appreciate tongue
LOL! What? cheesy cheesy cheesy
Funny enough - I love Murray. Roddick has been known to have a temper and I'm just tired of Federer-Nadal finals. Drags me back to the days when only Pete Sampras and Agassi used to carry cups anyhow. . . I need new faces joooooO! Just like we have in the women's division.
bagoma:

Moonstone, I disagree with the highlighted.
Yes, Roddick allowed his temper to get the better of him but who wouldn't?
Picture this,he was losing and quite badly too and not because of want of trying hard but he just did not have any answers to all of Monfils was throwing at him and the guys theatrics certainly was not helping matters.
Yes he said "You're not that good enough to be that cocky" and i quite agree with that statement. Monfils was acting all too cocky with the way he was shaking his head in amusement at Roddicks little (quite you mean very don't ya? LOL! unnecessary) argument with the umpire as if to say "man, what are u bitching abt?"
I mean there is so much a man can take, especially when you are being beaten silly cheesy
Not hating on monfils but He was indeed acting cocky/arrogant!
I was glad when Federer brought him down to earth in the very next round!
I don't care if someone is being murdered on the court, he needs to have a lil' bit of sportsmanship in him. Don't get it twisted - I used to be a fan of Roddick back in the day but he's got a history of a bad temper. Monfils was not acting cocky, the poor guy was just happy that he was beating one of the better tennis players. It's like you saying Soderling is cocky cos he was beating Nadal. There's no reason for a grown man to complain about dark skies for crying out loud. Roddick was acting like a spoilt brat complaining about how the atmosphere was no longer clear but now cloudy. Please, if you want to lose - lose in good spirits and don't blame it on little things such as the cloud clarity or what not. It was almost like he was looking for little excuses to back up his loss.

Soderling lost in a bitter way but he was making way too many errors for my liking and I did not appreciate the fact that he had less energy in the finals than he had when beating Nadal. I do see him soaring high and I can't wait for him to display his full talent in the Tennis world.
Congratulations to Federer though.
dayokanu:

Roger Federer Is the greatest Tennis player OF ALL TIME.

14 slams on all surfaces tell me who has done better
So who is the greatest tennis player if Not ROGER FEDERER!!!
He's not yet the greatest tennis player. . . Sampras has an equal record. One more grandslam and Federer tops the list.
Sports / Re: Nba Season '08/09 by Moonstone(f): 6:18am On Jun 08, 2009
@Moonstone, LOL after reading that, I almost like Kobe.   Shaquille O'Neal(I called him his full name) be forcing it. I remember when he did that "Tell me how my ass tastes" video about Kobe. It was funny but he was still wrong, dude is too old for that. Besides, that sounds gay, WTF? So, all of a sudden Kobe has become his 'bestest' buddy.   He's such a flip-flop; somebody please tell him it's time to retire.

How can anybody hate Dwight? It's not possible to hate all that fineness.   No, seriously why would Dwight wanna be like Shaq? C'mon now. Talk about a downgrade. Forget 4 rings, Shaquille is   I'm speechless.
I'm telling you. Makes me want to like Kobe. He's not serious. . . I don't know why he's bothering himself. He's not about to get any better. Dwight sees him as a role model cos he sees himself as a big guy too. Dwight needs to find better models - seriously.

If there's anything I've learnt from watching Orlando, it's that they can not be written off. That game tonight was theirs to lose and they lost it well. I just hope they can recuperate fast enough. 3-0 is something they do not want to achieve. That being said - Lewis did good but Nelson needs to go back to that bench. It's not by force to play in the finals now!
I am just not happy that the NBA season is drawing to a close. I'm missing them already. Can't wait for transfers and drafts to be completed so we can all start talking about which team is gonna do very well next season.
Sports / Re: French Open 2009: Nadal Loses In The Fourth Round!!! by Moonstone(f): 11:42am On Jun 06, 2009
If y'all watched the game btw Monfils and Roddick well you'd see that Roddick has a disgusting temper. I'm happy Monfils beat his sorry self. Imagine - he had the guts to tell Monfils that he's not as good as he thinks he is. . . Hissssssssssssssssss!
As for Nadal - Praise Jah he's out. He was getting too cocky on clay sef. . . just because he managed to win so many games on clay. I hope he'll gather his game and gain some humility from this experience.
I really wanted Del Potro to win the game against Federer yesterday and he would have done so if not for the simple idiotic errors he kept on making. That game was his to win and his to lose. He was on his way to kicking out Federer till after the first 3 sets.

As for tomorrow's Final - I want Soderling to win so bad. He's ranked 23 in the world for goodness' sake. It would be amazing to see #23 crush #2 - Tennis has been too predictable in the last 2 years jare. Always a Nadal-Federer final. Now that someone new is in the mix - I'd be happy if he became one of the top dogs from this. Besides, he deserves to win that game after beating Nadal that way. Whichever way, Soderling has made his name relevant through this tournament.
Sports / Re: Tennis Fans! by Moonstone(f): 10:17am On Jun 06, 2009
I have to say Roland Garros is surprising enough for me. I can't believe Soderling killed Nadal (ON CLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and I can't wait for this whole thing to just end. Who knows? Soderling might kill Federer on sunday. . . Safina better win her game against Kuzetnova today. I have had enough surprises to last me a life time.
Sports / Re: Nba Season '08/09 by Moonstone(f): 9:23am On Jun 06, 2009
What da hell is wrong with Shaq? Why is the goat so immature? I just stumbled across this and after the rubbish I just saw, I have to say - I would love either Howard or Kobe ( I would love Howard to win it more but I won't be so pissed if Kobe does) to win that ring now thanks to the stupid comments made by this overgrown fool.

As Howard grows in stature, Shaq shrinks
By Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo! Sports
3 hours, 26 minutes ago

LOS ANGELES – The greatness of Shaquille O’Neal(notes) demands that his name, his legacy, never drifts far from an NBA Finals. Even when he’s long out of the league, that’ll still be true. For the immortals, the lifetime benefits include the exhaustive examination of the next generation’s stars to your standards.

How does Tom Brady measure to Joe Montana?

Kobe Bryant(notes) to Michael Jordan?

And, yes, Dwight Howard(notes) to Shaq.

Mostly, here’s how a burgeoning talent is born: A gifted young star emulates his idol and eventually becomes his peer.

So, why does Shaq get such glee out of belittling and ridiculing those centers who came before and after him?

“Sometimes I wonder about his maturity,” Kareem Abdul-Jabbar told Yahoo! Sports on Friday. “He doesn’t need to do that. He’s achieved so much.

“I don’t know why he stoops to that.”

Abdul-Jabbar doesn’t need Shaq’s approval, but Howard is 23 years old and Shaq owes it to the league, to common decency, to be civil with this kid. His treatment of Howard has been kind of sad, especially considering that Howard grew up wanting to be him.

Howard marveled at Shaq’s strength and roared at his comedy and tried to emulate him in every way. They were drafted into the NBA as the No. 1 overall pick to the Orlando Magic, and turned losers into NBA finalists. Howard always seemed to crave Shaq’s counsel, his respect, but Howard has long been the target of humiliating insults.

In the past year alone, Shaq called Howard an “imposter” and insisted that, “Everything he’s done, I’ve invented,” and on and on. On opening night of the NBA Finals, Shaq posted a goofy photo on Twitter of what a Dwight Howard and Stan Van Gundy child would look like. After five years of this, Howard still doesn’t get the reason that Shaq revels in ripping him.

“I can’t tell you why he’s said a lot of discouraging things,” Howard said Friday at the Staples Center. “I wish he wouldn’t say it because he’s one of the few guys that we all look up to.”

For most, O’Neal’s motives are transparent. Somehow, Shaq thinks it diminishes his own legacy if Howard achieves something significant sooner than he did.

“That’s why Shaq wants [Howard] to get swept in the Finals,” a league source close with Howard and O’Neal said Friday. “He doesn’t want Dwight to win a game because he didn’t win a game in the Finals when he got there at a young age with Orlando.”

It’s funny, but Jordan never takes offense that Bryant and LeBron James(notes) and Dwyane Wade(notes) emulate him. To Michael, it was an honor. He embraces it. He always believed that was his responsibility to pass wisdom and encouragement to the next generation’s icons. Julius Erving did it for him. And Michael does it for them.

Nevertheless, Shaq has mostly been about, well, Shaq. Now, at 37 years old, Shaq still has a chance to get back to a contender, to get back into the championship chase. He was surprisingly spry for the Phoenix Suns this season, and with his expiring contract of $20 million next season, he will be an intriguing possibility on the summer trade market. Many league executives believe that Cleveland will revisit its trade deadline discussions with Phoenix, and consider making a deal for Shaq this summer. Cavs general manger Danny Ferry knows his team needs a bigger, stronger force to guard Howard, especially in the final season before LeBron James’ free agency in 2010.

Where does Shaq want to go? Multiple league sources, including with the Lakers, believe Shaq wants a return engagement with the Lakers. They think that’s why he has spent this season trying to repair the damage done to his relationship with Bryant. He tried to buddy up on All-Star weekend when they were co-MVPs, but give Bryant credit: He refused to engage with Shaq on a revisionist make-believe about how it was never so toxic between them.

There’s little chance the Lakers would make a move for Shaq, and no chance Bryant would ever accept a return to that hell. Shaq’s rap last year about Kobe ended any chance at reconciliation. Bryant is three games away from winning his first title without Shaq, and all he’ll want to do next season is win another – without him.

Lost in that the rap, was the line, “That’s like Kareem saying to himself that he’s better than me.” Well, remember this: Abdul-Jabbar averaged 22 points and eight rebounds on a Laker championship team when he was 37 years old. When I asked him how that lyric made him feel, Abdul-Jabbar said, “The gratuitous insult? I considered the source and I slept very well that night.”

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar doesn’t need Shaq’s approval, nor his validation. Yet, all Dwight Howard ever wanted was to be the next Shaquille O’Neal, and when did that become a crime for a young basketball player? Michael Jordan had always been secure enough in his legacy, his greatness, to embrace Kobe and LeBron.

So, yes, you have to wonder: Will Shaq ever be?

Source:http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AnBV100P0P2kHykyybi4eGw5nYcB?slug=aw-shaqhoward060509&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
Agbaya oshi! He should better go and retire after the rubbish he's been playing with the yeye Suns.
He wants to go back with Lakers? That will happen when Hell freezes over. I'm sure as he's coming back in, Kobe's walking out. Silly goat.
As for him taking jabs at Abdul-Jabbar, his senseless useless self could not even get suns into the playoffs and he has the right to be making noise about such rubbish? He needs serious help.
Howard, at 23, is very wise for not indulging the nonentity. It's his past glory and he can't deal with the fact that it's over. You can just see his pride and his stupidity in his statements. I blame NBA for making him feel this good about himself.

Game 1 was horrific for Magic but I hope Game 2 might be better.

biina:

Sadly for Lebron, I see D-Wade getting another ring, and even Carmelo, before the Cavs.
The story line is just too reminiscent of the boy wonders of the past: Iverson, Garnett etc.
They come in, rising to the top posting superman stats, get to finals, fail to win a ring, and go down south from there.

I am suspicious that Lebron might not be accommodating to having another superstar on the team, and yet he needs 1 or 2 to win a ring.
Either of Amare or Bosh is likely headed to Miami in 2010. Boozer might be the cavs best bet at a big man.

Returning to our regular scheduled programming: Magic in 5!!! grin
I think LeBron has gotta leave Cavs before he can make an impact or they have to be changed completely. Maybe if he leaves, Cavs will end up being a team to reckon with (LOL!). You are completely right on him not accomodating another superstar. That guy needs a lil' reality check.
Amare or Bosh ke? - Abeg don't play with my heart jare. D.Wade and Shaq are enough jare. What rubbish?
Boozer is a good big man but for some reason he's not as consistent as he should be. There are some people you expect to outshine the others at ALL times. Sometimes, it's hard to find Boozer on the court. That would be a potential problem for Cavs because it's reminiscent of people like Mo Williams and Uncle Bynum.
As for Magic - I don't think they can do it in 5 but I know they can do it sha.
JeSoul:

What makes you think that? Thus far he hasn't shown signs of selfishness & the media worships him. Although I know in the classic words of Lauryn Hill "They'll hail you, then nail you, no matter who you are".
LOL! LeBron is not selfish but he's used to being the star of the team and no one is completely fine with no longer being the focus of a team. The fact that the media worships him makes it easier for him to get the wrong ideas.

C2H5OH:

All this talk of Jameer Nelson.  Is this a ploy to get the Lakers thinking about Nelson ? psshtiu
Don't underrate Nelson o! I know your darling Lakers are not wetting their pants over it but then I am also sure they see him as a potential threat. That guy is very good and when Howard is involved, they combine well.
A-40:

@Moonstone
Its all good lets keep it betweem me and you like Ja and Chrissy Milan
LOL - Absolutely no problem with that. wink wink You're not serious about the bee-honey thing. Kai!
@Jesoul - Please tell him for me o! About Magic being able to hold down the fort. I agree. I just want to know if Lakers can do the same without Kobe and my answer to that is very shaky. That's why I think Magic might win this thing. All of them know how to do their jobs very well and they are dependent on each other but not dependent enough to fail without one member of the team. They did well without Jameer Nelson due to his injury. They did well without Howard and Nelson during the suspension. If that was Lakers without Kobe and Gasol, I am sure they would have been out of the finals a long time ago.

I'm seeing in Doyin's crystal ball: Howard abusing Bynum and Gasol down in the paint  grin a few elbows will be in order by the time the series is done.
The team let LeBron down. Truth be told, he needs improvement and cannot continue to mess up in FTs and expect his team to win. He needs to practice that more. Apart from that, I feel that Cavs depend too much on LeBron's skills. Ben Wallace should retire quick - I still don't understand why and how they can even think of Wallace as such an asset.

I'll post more often when A-40 releases me. . . the guy just won't let me breathe jare, I tire (I'm just kidding o! I'm not yet tired  cheesy cheesy cheesy)

Ariza is really good and I want him to do well but please who elease can defend so well as to prevent Orlando from raining 3's. They are just crazy jare. I think they need to test Magic for Steroids or at least mutant genes. . . they are just so supernatural. The day I knew that Magic does not have one defined star was when Howard was suspended and they still won their game against 76ers and all the team members still rallied to beat Igoudala and team. That is what
separates them clearly from Cavs.

LOL - Where's Doyin abeg? I need him to come back here.

A-40:

Hahaha  grin grin ermmm there's loads of extra-curricular activities going on which has made it difficult for either of us to come up for air and post lol.Normal service would resume shortly
Ariza would definitely be too fast but reasonably under-sized Turkoglu might shoot over him all night but if Odom is placed on Turk then who guards Lewis?? as for guarding Kobe i think they can put Pietrus or Lee on him

LOL! Why must you out us like that, huh? cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy LOL! Just release me first.

Ariza will be fast but I don't think he's that capable defensively. He's gotta be very good defensively too because we all know that Magic has it covered in the defense region.
