I don't call that a tactical mistake. . . I call it a stupid one. If Rooney was in there earlier, he would have at least helped us a bit more. 5 free kicks in the first half and no goal. The one that annoyed me the most was Giggs and the keeper all alone and yet he managed to kick the ball right into the keeper even when he had time. . .

I agree with 9jaganga. It's crazy that there are all these crises but Nigeria is law-deficient. Whether they pass the law or not, adults will still carry arms if they want. How else do boys of 14 carry guns around?

This is better in places where there is so much abrasion between religions. In places like Lagos,we have no need for more guns. We have too many. They should restrict the law and I can't believe CAN is condoning self-defense so early but I like the fact that they recognize the need for this.

There are a lot of songs that I love seriously because of the lyrics. When it comes to certain songs, i love them because of their beat. Lil' Wayne's 3 Peat was crazy enough to make me go crazy. Guys like Jay-Z and Nas have really conveyed a lot by their lyrics. . . and that is the respect sets Jay-Z and his counterpart apart from the other wannabe rappers in the industry.

We have only TRIED adopting democracy only in the last 10 years but because we still have a lot of problems carried over from the last government system, we are still to get democracy working in the country; people’s votes still do not count for much; elected officials are still not held accountable for their actions in office and after; the police system still has yet to disconnect from the old way it was during federal rule; the judicial system is still caught in the old system, so I don’t understand how one can definitely say DEMOCRACY does not work for us, when we have yet to try it.

Another thing is I note your reason for us not needing WESTERN democracy is because we have corrupt leaders? Why do we want to choose to continue to have corrupt leaders and then instead tweak our democracy to accommodate them? Why not get rid of them completely and then have WESTERN democracy if good in the end? I mean why argue that we should continue to cater to the number of corrupt and ethnocentrically minded individuals who continue to play on the emotions and weaknesses of the people in that country to get their deeds done?

I said WESTERN style can not work for us. I can't believe you still think our 'democracy' is no different from the democracy in America. I do agree with you, we have just started trying to adopt to this new form of governance. That is why I said my biggest fear is that Nigerians will start calling for another form of governance. Democracy works for us but not the kind of democracy that the western world has. We have too many internal problems and as you said, problems from the last form of government. We need more time to create resilience to these instability. You can't switch forms of power anyhow and start at an advanced stage, you go at your own pace. To start aiming for Western style of democracy immediately is ridiculous because we have not even adjusted to the basic form of democracy yet. You do agree that it took a long time for the Western Democracy to become as solid as it is now, don't you?

Our corruption is the reason why we can't have a government for the people by the people. It is a government based solely on money. I have never heard of total election votes from a Local Government Area being more than the people of that local government area (children included) and no one would say anything about it. It's a democracy according to the amount of influence. In America, their riggings are within sensible ranges and they actually take the people's votes into account. For example, my parents don't vote solely because they know it's no use since whoever is going to win will win anyway. We do not have any idea of transparency in our system neither do we have any form of reaction to such scrupulous acts. We know how serious the media of this country (US) is. Now Newspapers in Nigeria are being funded by political godfathers sometimes, do you think that paper would say anything if that governor or political figure was even killing people in broad daylight? Money makes the world go round in African politics most times. Here, money is a factor but it is not a factor that is stupidly flaunted anyhow in front of the public.

Apparently, I still need to understand what the difference between African Democracy and Western Democracy is then. What exactly is the difference? What do we have now? Definitely not Western; so why is western bad for us again?

How are we comparing ourselves to them when you agree that we ought to allow each of the 140 million people in the country to vote freely, who he/she wants to be leader?

What is Western Style Democracy? You do realize that we have different foundations right? Westerners fought for their rights and were divided into the countries they are BY THEMSELVES. For Africans, we were pretty much screwed, taken advantage of and now we are like puppets in their hands. We have a foundation in which our fight was against being suppressed by not one but several countries. Africans learnt to hate each other much more because we were used by these westerners to fight against each other. Democracy works in the western way for those who actually stay together and not fighting against one another. If there is something I've noticed it is that racism is not as disruptive as tribalism and that is one issue we have in Nigeria. Some people still vote for other candidates just because they are 'Hausa', 'Igbo' and 'Yoruba'. Most of us don't even listen to what people say anymore because it makes no difference and when they get there, they do what they want anyway. We have no mouth whatsoever to criticize them in AFRICAN Democracy.
For Western Style Democracy, you definitely have basic rights such as rights to a basic form of life. We don't have those rights on our side in Africa. When you have the basic HUMAN rights, then you know how to implement a form of government that closely resembles the western-style one.

What rules exist in the western world that would not work in Nigeria? Now I know for sure there are rules that go against cultural ideologies, but those aside, what rules exist in the west that would NEVER work for us NOW in Nigeria. How exactly has westernization brought more trouble than solutions? Please elaborate.

Okay I think I have answered most of this question in the other parts. I have one word - EFCC! We have such a commission investigating fraudsters and embezzlers. Please tell me why IBB is still relaxing in his multibillion naira house in Minna. If that happened in the West, we both know that he would spend his last years in jail rotting away. The government does not see itself as being accountable to the people in Nigeria and that is now, in democracy. It's not the same in the western world.
Westernization is a devilish thing. Why is Nigeria solely dependent on oil? Why are the Multinational companies (MNCs) screwing us over? Why do we import absolutely everything? Gone are the days when Nigeria used to have auto-assembly plants for Volkswagen. Why can't we produce anything good and sell it? Westernization has turned us to a set of dependent little babies. They come to our country, take what they want at a certain price and then they refine it and send it back to us for a much higher price. You want to know what makes it worse? Our people go to these Westernized countries, learn about this stuff and then stay there. Thanks to Westernization, there is a huge brain drain in Africa. See people scrambling to leave the country and they would rather work in places you would never imagine them in (with their degrees) than come here, further their education and go back home with the knowledge they have. You want more examples of the way Westernization has screwed us over?
