lumzy1: The wait from VETASSESS is finally over. Got a positive assessment for my occupation this morning.
Pls Gurus in the house, what are the documents needed to apply for Victoria nomination (as a Geologist want to apply for subclass 190 visa ) Nice, aside what you used for your assessment, you'll need your IELTS as well.. As suggested earlier, check out the state's web page for what is required so you don't leave anything out. Victoria nomination doesn't take more than 2 weeks most times |

JesusDWay: Happy to announce to you all that Saskatchewan has reopened its SINP Express Entry Category again on November 2nd. Chek the link below and hurry with your application. There are just 500spaces available:
http://www.economy.gov.sk.ca/immigration/express-entry
After opening the page, scroll down a little and locate "Application Guide". Click to open it and scroll down the guide(its in pdf) first to check if your occupation is listed. If its there, then click on the Apply Online to start your application. I must warn you that its a very tedious process but just hang in there till you submit before the Indians carry the day again.
Best wishes! lol. @the indians... Fear those guys o.. The way they fill up available slots is crazy |

Manweysabi: No, they didn't tell me to upload the transcript.
The first one i sent was mistakenly sent to the US instead of Australia.
The 2nd one was sent with the envelop unsealed.... It was rejected No biggie, in part one of this thread someone's transcript got to them on the 12th week and they still sent his positive evaluation two weeks later.. Hopefully next week we will hear from them. |

Manweysabi: Though, my transcript got to them 10 days ago Ohk.. But did they tell you to also upload a copy of your transcript? They would have already been working with the other details you provided. Cos the funny twist to mine was that my transcript got to them a week before I even submitted. After they acknowledged it has been received they still insisted I upload a copy. |

NNBB2012: Good one! Indeed, it's been a while. Although I always read comments on the thread.
With your good IELTS result, you can quickly go for your assessment. The goodnews now is there is fasttrack path which you rightly mentioned. I know of someone that got her positive assessment within 24hrs.
It would be good if you could get supporting documents for your NYSC period because that would help you to get 5 points on experience. Otherwise, you would be at the mercy of states which is very slow these days, particularly, NSW. You could give PTE-A a go and see if you could make 20points from it to boost your points and then go for 189. Kai.. If only Vetassess had fast track |

irondome: Typical draw packed with applicants that have PNP nomination and LMIA. I think the Canadian immigration system is skewed so much in favor of inland applicants and it's about to get worse with the Liberals in power. Yep, I said this earlier. Best to just be on the look out for PNP.. Fastest fingers |

scrollmeout: Morning folks,
Just woke up to see that DIBP has reverted to the former method of holding 2 invitation rounds per month (every two weeks). The draws are no longer held on the Mondays but now on Fridays.
The numbers of 189 monthly invitations have also dropped from 2300 to 2000, while 489 has also declined to just 40.
https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/Skil#sub-heading-1 Am pretty sure more there will be more changes by the time the new government settles in e.g stricter rules, increase in visa fees e.t.c |

Please i need clarity about what VETASSESS meant by uploading a certify copy of my passport biopage.
I uploaded the original copy, they're still telling me they're not satisfied with it... and in 15 days time they'll cancel my application if i don't provide it. I Had the same issue, but i uploaded my birth certificate (original copy) instead and they were OK with that. |

MockingBird: Hello guys, pls help me out, my wife applied to WES Canada to have her credentials evaluated. She logged into her account to check her status and it showed 'waiting for verification from institution'. Upon calling her school to confirm if they have received it they confirmed that it has come and that they need money from her to send the document back. They started quoting different amount for DHL, FedEx and normal courier. Pls I want to know if this is right or its just one non-academic staff trying his luck. I'll really appreciate answers. Thanks In a normal society, that financial burden Should fall on the school, emphasis on 'normal'. Anyway I had to pay for courier for the verification, and if you go through the tread you'll notice so did a couple of other guys. I also know people who didn't pay anything. |

Etfash: In my opinion, anyone who scores 400/496 hasn't done badly. Let's face it, if you have never been to Canada to study or work and doesn't have a provincial nomination or prearranged employment, I think you will have a maximum score of 496 or slightly more. That's with a phD. What percentage is that? That's over 80%. Some have also said maximum score possible without Canadian links is 520, but even at that, the percentage would be greater than 76%. That isn't bad.
I feel the entire process is skewed - my opinion though.
Meanwhile, have you noticed the trend of people's scores in the IELTS? Get at least band 7 in three of the modules and have your band score reduced by 0.5 in one of the modules. That way, you lose at least 56 points. 496-56=? It will always be less than 450. So: immigrants influx is checked; more and more people repeat the test; Newbies who are yet to write apply to write; people who feel they should score more ask for evaluation - but pay for it; then, one out of say 20 gets his marks changed. That way, people will still believe that the process isn't biased and, will pump in more money into writing the exam.
Lastly, what do you make of a CRS of 800points? That means the person had just 200points outside one of a provincial nomination or a job offer.
Now, I am not a pessimist; just stating what i feel is obvious.
N.B. I read that IELTS exams are marked at the centres where they are written. In my opinion, the provincial nomination is beneficial largely for people already in Canada (and they are the ones who fill up these slots faster) and also for those with jobs in Canada.(how many people have gotten jobs from outside Canada? not many) Then very limited number can apply outside Canada (BC only accepted 200 applications in the whole world) ..lol So for provincial nomination, you have to be pretty fast about it (competing against mainly indians) Then their processing time is a different story. Well, at the end of the day the system is meant to work to the Country's advantage not the migrants. The lesson to be learnt is perseverance |

Edgeoftomorrow: Please I need an advice, WES sent verification documents to my former institution since about 1 month now but the school keeps saying they have not received it yet, is it advisable to ask WES to send the verification documents to the school through international courier From my experience, it never hurts to have someone on the inside (Registrars office/exams and records) If WES says they've sent it, then free them. Like I said, try and get someone at your school who will be on the look out for your stuff (if it hasn't already arrived) |
