9jaRealist: All you need to do is to touch a door knob, hug or shake hands with an asymptomatic infected person (who may not be as hygienic as you - eg, coughed into their own hands) and then rub your eyes (or touch your nose and mouth when you get home, depending on how long thereafter). Best to think of masks as preventing you transmitting it to others, and observe all social distancing protocols. > I won't be able to touch my nose or mouth if I had the mask on all day. tunene66: Let's get the context right The question is does wearing a face mask prevent the one wearing it from being infected from Convid-19 ? The answer is NO The issue is the one wearing the mask can prevent the virus from spreading by wearing the face mask. Since there are large numbers of those infected who are asymptotic (not showing any symptoms), then it is advisable for all to put the mask on in public It can prevent from getting infected. You have your nose and mouth protected. Those are the easiest access the virus has. you |

todugo: I Sense selfishness in some people, you see the government don't care about the welfare of its citizens, they are after their own lives and that of their family now that they are all in the Country, after opening and leaving borders unclosed for weeks so that their family could return and later impose lockdown and boarder closure without testing people and providing relief materials or survival package to many. The problem of the country lay on greed not just by the Government but on "US" as as people, because everybody is after his own warfare without considering or helping others. You are financially stable does not mean other should go and die while you live with offering help.God that's selfish, itz greed. Copy that? Real selfishness is choosing to momentarily stay alive even if it means killing thousands of people doing it. Government didn't send you aid is no reason you should come out and kill innocent citizens. The government officials are in their houses, they won't die with you. It's on people like you that sit at home and watch movies rather than follow the news that will write this rubbish. If you know the daily fatality of this pandemic you won't spew this trash. US and EU allowed citizens to move around now they are burying them in thousands daily. |

Health › Re: First Covid19 Case In US Just 5 Days Before First Covid19 Case In Nigeria. by mployer(m): 8:15am On Mar 31, 2020 |
Amya: Do you honestly believe Nigeria has tens of thousands of Covid19 infected people running around? The US clearly has high transmission and infection rate and has a reason to have done over a million tests going through exactly same process as Nigera. The criteria for testing in the US are
1. If a person had travel history to affected areas and or 2. If a person had close physical contact to an already infected person.
Randoms with non of the above are not eligible for the tests. US with its over 300 million population had only managed to test less than 1% of its population. So I hope you understand that the high test rate in the US is simply because of its high transmission rate. US did 1million test not because of high infection rate, but because they could afford it. Nigeria couldn't do much test because they couldn't afford it. NCDC said a single test costs them about 10k to do. And the available reagents for the tests are limited. |

Truth is people are dying everyday in Nigeria and we don't know what is killing them, because they are not comfirmed to be covid19 positive. |

Hubei was locked down very early. Extremely locked down. And moreover Chinese were on holiday during the outbreak, so most cities were already deserted. |

abhosts: The Italians have been on total Lockdown for over 2 weeks, yet they are averaging about 5,000 new cases daily. How can any one argue that Lockdowns are effective?
South Korea recorded their first Covid-19 cases since January, yet they have the infection under control without a single Lockdown. How did they keep their infection rate so low while keeping the country working?
The use of Face Masks when outdoor is Mandatory.
Testing is widely available and contact tracing if very effective.
All public places are fumigated regularly.
Hand Sanitizers are also located everywhere.
Nigeria's Economy was already on life support and now unintelligent Politicians and Administrators want to finally put it in a coma. Nigerians need to learn from Countries that got it right from the start and not from the likes on the US and Europe that failed woefully in responding to the outbreak. China used extreme lockdown and it worked. US and EU got into trouble because the sort alternative method. South Korea case is still a mystery. No other nation has won without lockdown. |

Shaprara: If more people are dying in Italy and the number of cases is not increasing exponentially, does that mean they are not testing people as they should or are they rationing care, leaving people to die, in contrast to America, more testing , the number of cases go up exponentially, the number of deaths shows low mortality rate and over 3k has recovered.
There's something going on Italy that is confusing. They are not testing very fast. I guess over 30% of the population is infected. There is even doubt on the fatality. Probably more people have died than recorded. |
