Career › Re: Why Do Entrepreneurs Talk Down On 9-5? by mployer(m): 8:04am On Sep 19, 2019 |
pocohantas: What are majority of Nigerian entrepreneurs creating? Opening shops selling the same thing?
You start selling bra and you think you are an entrepreneur?
The only entrepreneur in that chain, is the man who looked at those boobies and realised they need a home. Or the one who went a step further to add iron to it- lifting up fallen heroes.
We keep doing the same thing, zero innovation and shouting ENTREPRENEUR. That is just buying and selling. Dangote started as a trader. Same survival skill is needed in production and trading. Never forget a super market owner is a trader but the road side restaurant woman is a producer. Same business skill applies. |

pocohantas: Please, lets not act like most business people are comfortable. From my last job to the current, I have been in units that make me see lots of "entrepreneurs" books. Majority of them struggle to stay afloat.
How many businesses in Nigeria can rake in 150k in profit?
You are talking middle class 9-5, most 1-man businesses shouting entrepreneur are way below middle class.
Lots of our parents did businesses, how far? Isn't it what some of them saw that made them insist their kids must be educated?
Abeg. Tell this one to someone who hasn't seen both sides. My parents are business people and I know their struggles, not this eldorado you new-generation business men paint. Even the organization you are working is a business set up by somebody who didn't give up. Did you ever think about that? He set it up and gave you a job. What are you doing for the coming generation? |

ornicus: most nigerians just throw the entrepreneur term around. all they are doing is trading the same hustling that is flooding this country with fake and substandard goods. not actually creating a product or service or value Not every body is trading. But the basic skills also apply in trading. Even Dangote started as a trader. |

tensazangetsu20: Honestly, I run a startup and if I could go back in time again I would never do it. People glorify entrepreneurship but it's very difficult. I have headaches and palcipations at months end when the bills start setting in. The environment in Nigeria is also tough with everyone trying to take from you without adding value in anyway. I rather have a well paid job with a nice salary where I just do what I am told and get paid at the end of the month. Don't chicken out bro. So if everyone keeps looking for a well paid job, who is going to create the jobs? |
Career › Re: Why Do Entrepreneurs Talk Down On 9-5? by mployer(m): 7:39am On Sep 19, 2019 |
SendoSendal: But an entrepreneur created the 9-5 job you are doing. You also owe it to the generation coming to create their 9-5 jobs. This is so true. There is a time work, and there is a time to create work for others. |

djoe21: Then remove deposit fees and increase withdrawal fees of such amount. How does deposit fee encourage people to lodge their money in the bank? With deposit fee, you as a businessman will require your customers to pay you through other means rather than cash cos cash deposit will cost you money. You get? |

pacespot: OK, if it is to discourage cash transactions, so do these charges apply to amount deposited by cheque?
If someone issued you a cheque of 5 million naira, that means you would have to forgo about 5% of that to your banker before being deposited into your account. Cheque is not cash. It won't apply to cheques. |

It would affect me very much but i believe in taxing It's not luxury tax. It's policy implementation tax, aimed at encouraging cashless transactions. People really need to stop moving bundles of cash around. |

RiyaGoddess: Enough of all these Prosperity Messages. The church has now made it look like Jesus came to die for prosperity. They have made it look as if, if you are not prospering, you are not a Christian or believer. Enough Biko. The Church needs to wake up. The Church should look into their messages. What we need now is more VALUES & INTEGRITY messages not PROSPERITY. Read my signature.
The purpose of Christianity, is not just to change your life, it's not only to heal diseases, it is so that you can become the dwelling place of divinity so that God can begin to live in you, talk and move through you.Good Morning FAM. You didn't get his message. Prosperity is essential part of Christianity. He didn't condemn giving neither did he deny prosperity. He only regretted placing a price tag on his gospel with a promise of financial blessings like most pastors still do today. Ashimolowo is expert on that. |
