Politics › Re: Poll Shift: Averting The Looming Darkness------------punch Editorial by mpowa(m): 1:20pm On Feb 10, 2015 |
PEREP: One thing the APC has successfully done is to tell us about 1 million pple that attended their rallies mean all Nigerians are yearning for a change only guaranteed in a Buhari Presidency.
All their supporters have remained so confident like we got the votes already forgetting that over 60 Million voters are out there.
They have called everyone who opposes their change view with some passion like in a war situation. From responses by the Top contenders, one cannot but see through why this is the prevalent issue.
Postponement of election will amount to Coup - Buhari Elections are between Brothers and Sisters - GEJ
From the above, one can see and feel the most desperate of the two.
During the signing of accord by the political parties, Buhari commented that 'It is impossible to take power from the ruling party Legitimately' while Jonathan stated that Nigerin needs to embrace a system that discourages 'Winner takes it all' and he preaches inclusive government as much as possible (this I believe was why he called all the opposition for way forward after 2011 elections)
I am worried that Fashola insists that elections must go on when less than 40 percent of Lagosians have their PVCs. The same with Rochas too. They were all happy because the North already have the highest number of voters with PVCs and as such GMB will simply win the election.
Nigerians now have a new power (freedom to express our views) and we better use it to our advantage by giving suggestions to government rather than bringing it all down.
No matter the President, a populace with our attitude might not get the best out of our political space.
In my opinion, Nigeria is 'Work in Progress' and we will POSSIBLY not be talking about all these if we had practised democracy since 1979 till date but instead of defending democracy, it was scuttled.
This postponement will calm nerves and we hope the two major contenders will preach more of peace, peace and peace. All of these are stories, you're very confident people are not yearning for change but you're shifting election, the very event that determine the people's decision. You talk about calming nerves - by postponing election? If it was held at the stipulated date, a week or two after everyone will know the result and we'll start moving on, but now there's more agitation than before because every one can see through the evil plot to rob the people of their votes. |

No matter your analysis, he must finish this election, he started it a over 2 yrs ago, he won't leave it half way, if you like postpone the election till December.
When they know his tenure is about to end, why didn't they allow him to conduct the election at the stipulated time, how long will it take a new chairman to familiarize with the office? except of course they want to bring in their own RIGGING MAN. |

KwoiZabo: He also called APC all progressive CONFIDENCE. He tried anyway but Buhari still remains a regional champion and cannot appeal to Nigerians beyond the NE and NW. It's easier said than done. Apart from Insurgency, security Naionwide has improved since GEJ came on board also Buhari has never told us how to tackle other of Nigerian's problems like Power, Economy, regional autonomy, Federal character, infrastructure, foreign relations etc. Also looking at the diversity of the Country, it's safer to allow our slow but steady progress under GEJ than the radical change APC is proposing which is not feasible 'coz the APC leadership is more corrupt than the sitting govt. Finally APC is still the Oluwole party that just wants power not the interest of Nigerians. Still living in the stone age? He's a Regional Champion and your Clueless boss is so scared to face the election. |

jpaul5: These are Pastor Bakare’s own words. Where is the propaganda there? The writer is just trying to sensationalise by bringing Osinbajo’s case into it but you cannot deny what Bakare said. And if you follow the train of thought, if Tinubu’s grand ambition is to become VP, there is no better person for him to use than Osinbajo going by the strength of their relationship.
Just saying... And they will do this in front of over 170 million Nigerians when everyone knows who was elected as VP at the polls? Aba! make we they use our common sense small, small now. Another issue is that they were trying to merge the party, so there was need for compromise from both end, in this case they are already merged before they choose the President and the Vp, no changing again shikena! adeniyitheprof: Dear Nairaland Moderators,
Do not give yourself credit of what you do not deserve at all.
The Guardian Newspaper editors did not come here on Nairaland nor anyone related to APC to pick or copy what someone posted here.
A Nairaland member, notoriousbabe posted "Bimbo Ajinibi wrote:".
You should know that notoriousbabe copied the post from somewhere and came here to post and he even referenced it to BIMBO AJINIBI.
In fact, just search for BIMBO AJINIBI via GOOGLE SEARCH ENGINE, you will see the same post on many blogs and websites and you can even see the social media profiles of the person.
Perhaps, Bimbo Ajinibi could an APC online agent AND not a member of or not related to anyone on NAIRALAND. The fact that Lai Mohammed copied from Nairaland means that nairaland promoted the post to a level, maybe it won't have made it to the news paper if it wasn't posted into Nairaland, so Nairaland deserves some credit. |

and please take note they're more than than 2 presidential candidates or did something happen back in Nigeria I don't know of **I stand to be corrected**
Nb:
ABUJA — The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has released the names of the presidential candidates and their running mates who will contest next year’s elections Of the 26 registered political parties in Nigeria, only 11 submitted names of candidates to run for the presidency. The ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, submitted the names of President Goodluck Jonathan and his vice, Namadi Sambo, while the main opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, submitted the names of Muhammadu Buhari and Yemi Osinbajo as presidential and vice presidential candidates. Others are Oluremi Sonaiya and Saidu Bobboi for Kowa Party, Ambrose Albert and Haruna Shaba for Hope Democratic Party, Ganiyu Galadima and Balarabe Ahmed of Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, ACPN, Rafiu Salau and Clinton Cliff Akuchie for Alliance for Democracy, AD and Godson Okoye and Haruna Adamu, for United Democratic Party, UDP. Others are Nani Ibrahim Ahmad and Obianuju Murphy-Uzohue of African Democratic Congress, Martin Onovo and Ibrahim Mohammed of National Conscience Party, NCP, Tunde Anifowoshe-Kelani and Paul Ishaka Ofomile of Action Alliance and Chekwas Okorie and Bello Umar of United Progressive Party. The Labour Party, LP, and the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, have already adopted the PDP candidate, Goodluck Jonathan as their candidate as well. Of all the 11 candidates, only Jonathan and Buhari were candidates in the last election in 2011.
Gracias Ok sir, I hear you. But when I say there are two contestants, you know what I'm talking about, would you vote for the presidential candidate of ACCORD party for instance, that you don't even know his name not talk of see his picture? |

There are two people contesting, do you want to form another political party and have your own candidate? We've one of the two option, (at least for this election) and we must choose one -- that's what my response is all about. |

it surprises me how Nigerians are quick to forgive and like a dog go back to their vomit. its not up to three decades but we've all quickly forgotten how rash, unjust, bias and dictatorial this same Buhari was.
same Nigerians who once cried foul are all now trooping behind the same man that governed them with iron fist
same man who brought this nation to her knees and sentenced innocent men to indefinite years in prison for standing up against him.
same man who said last week during an interview that he'll sanction and ban the press if they worked against him.
Nigerians tell me Nigerians...What has he done to prove to you he has turned a new leaf?...The wolf in sheep clothing indeed.
GMB coming out to contest alone,is an insult to Nigerians and Nigeria's HISTORY! He did E V I L S ! Don't be quick to forgive the sins of this dictator.
PS:I do not campaign for no one or party...but please don't send our nation back to the dark ages. GMB and GEJ aren't the only Candidates. Let's not settle for the better thief, instead we can pull a surprise package.
its not late... VOTE WISELY. So what would you advise us to do? Vote Mr. Clueless, Mr. Sink-n-swim with corruption? Mr.commitee to look at another commitee, if there's any dark age like the one we're in now, you may let us know, I'll vote for someone who at least have a spine to tackle some of the numerous issues we're bedeviled with and tomorrow we'll have someone better, that's NOT-GOING-BACK-TO-DARK-AGE. that's CHANGE. |

drshrewd: I wonder why the APC would not sponsor their own documentary on how this present administration succeeded in ruining this country. at least theirs will be issue based. coming to mind among others are: the pension scam, subsidy scam,Ribadu report neglect, bullet proof car saga, chartered flight, 15m jet money laundry, fake kerosine subsidy, immigration rubbery, missing monies: $20b (NNPC), N500b(sure p) etc, less than 30% capital budget (despite the oil boom), less than 50% budget performance (despite the oil boom), unprecedented recklessness and wastages in the system--fleet of presidential jets, Aso rock knife & fork, Aso zoo, machinery, gen etc. pardon/dropping of charges of known criminals and subsequent award to undeserving individuals, depletion of the excess crude account, external reserve, un-presidential statement like stealing is no corruption, etc Yes I agree with this 100%. This will be more relevant to Nigerians than all the waste of national wealth the PDP just embarked on. All the money missing under this, administration, statistics of all the people that've died in the last 6yrs due to insecurity, the over 200 missing chibok girls, the immigration job scam, odua-gate, missing $20 billion Naira, all the accusations of soludo on NOI, and NOI on soludo, the list is endless...ALL THESE AFFECTS OUR LIVES PERSONALLY AND NEGATIVELY THAN TALKING TRASH ABOUT THE DEAD FAMILIES OF GMB. |

However, big events to me like the upcoming debate shouldn't be handled with hands of levity by way of trying to shy away from the debate by giving us unreasonable reasons why a candidate can't participate, for crying out loud, this is an open debate that Nigerians are longing to watch live from the corners of our rooms, we want to hear from the horses' mouths.
