MelaninGold:Oops! Resorting to poorly written vituperations against admitting the kindergarten error you made, says a lot about you. It is not a gender warfare; it's about your lame understanding of the English language. It is a shame you aren't a self-aware lady. It is self-defeating for you as a lady call a male "pussy nigger" or "male bitch." The impression you create that is everything about your gender is associated with weakness, shallow-minded, and cheap. Maybe you embody these vices, but I am sure majority of these ladies do not. |
MelaninGold:Who says typing bad English in a forum like does not stink? You? It is not a typographical error; it is error of ignorance. |
What a "great researcher" you are! I am interested in the outcome of your "research." I hope you will be magnanimous enough to publish it on this platform. |
Bossjakande:It is inconceivable to believe you wrote this well-written, articulate, and intellectually-dripping post, while you struggle to string sentences together afterwards. Oga, plagiarism is a criminal offence. Respect the intellectual rights of the people you copy; that is the way to legitimise academic mimicry. |
czarina:Sure, you are the only who can answer your question because my mention wasn't originally directed to you. Since you are guilty-stricken, you thought it necessary to provide an explanation that is apparently a product of afterthought, and compounded it further by asking yourself a question. |
czarina:Miss, why didn't you use the same medium he used to converse with you? Why did you opt to use a public forum that does not afford privacy? Please note that I don't have any quarrel with you, but it is shameful begging someone to reply an email you knew they received. |
I read the tread that inspired this knee-jerk decision to deactivate, and I am in agreement with most members who said/wrote you are CHEAP. Although they almost nearly focused on material cheapness, I see an extension of "cheapness" to your reasoning ability. After all, what sane person makes valid decision on an empty stomach? I think your notice of deactivation is pleasing, because nairaland will lose a member who loathes the truth and can't accommodate divergent but unsettling opinion, and someone who does not have the faintest idea that English language is written according to rules. I hereby wish you a heartfelt, happy deactivation. |
theoptimist298:Bro, that is outright petty and base. She sees for sure; reminding her if it makes you look desperate. |
I had a big grin when I read part of your scribble that blames your lack of support on this platform on the basis of your gender. I am very happy you have decided to deactivate. At least, nairaland will lose a member who has no capacity to embrace and accept divergent but truthful opinion, and someone who does not have the faintest idea that English language is written according to rules. To me, it is a win-win situation. I hereby wish you a heartfelt, happy deactivation. |
faithfull18:Hmm. If your husband shares an hotel room with his female childhood friend, what would be your be reaction? See how you supported the woman, as if what she did was right. |

NwanyiAwkaetiti:A whole lot is expected from both sexes. Note that individual preferences have a lot of role to play. By and large, a woman who is a money bag is not the totem pole of a man's expected qualities from his prospective wife. So, jettison the idea of building a man up, because it is not the major criterion. |
Famousqueen:The social media is a veritable marriage/relationship marketing platform. A lot people have find their significant other via the social media. Even if her message is tainted by her "self-serving" intention, as you claimed, the message, to me, appears to be a brilliant obversation and partly correct. Plus, a lot of teenagers and men might learn a thing or two from her self-inspired intervention. |
NwanyiAwkaetiti:"Build them up" at what cost? You didn't realise that finance is not the first requirement expected by men from women. Unfortunately, a lot of ladies tend to be overbearing when they have strong financial base. Nevertheless, I think the lady is partial by completely laying the blame at the door-steps of ladies -- without chastising the menfolk for the role they play. Both genders are guilty in mainstreaming this unhelpful but disturbingly widespread mentality. |
yvelchstores:Why haven't you thought it wise to engage her in frank talk about her disposition to you? As an adult, I think you deserve to know the reason for her revulsion towards you. If you think it doesn't affect you negatively, you are making a big mistake. Your role is not to force people to love you -- it sounds very weird to me if these people are our loved ones -- but to at least know why they don't love you. |
It is naive to stay away from your mum without understanding the reason (s) behind her impartial and depraved indifference to you. I urge you to cheerfully and resolutely confront her; have a heart-to-heart discussion with her. You have already alluded she may not be your biological mother. It is a possibility. Still, you must talk to her because you are no longer a baby. If possible, tell her you heard her express displeasure about the marital bliss and harmony you enjoy. What a mother she is! |
If you are a good student of Nigeria's political history, you would have known that South-west has a scarred and unpalatable history of electoral violence. In the first republic, political violence and instability led to the imprisonment of Chief Obafemi Awolowo and the creation of the Mid-west region in 1963. Even after Awo's incarceration in 1962, the region didn't enjoy political peace, and was in the news again for all manners of electoral offence in the 1964 elections. However, note that some states in this region have lesser quotient of political violence than others. I think the problem lies in the widely accepted but apparently counter-productive practice of using thugs -- who are both unconscionable and jobless -- to secure political victory. Today, it is very difficult to differentiate between who is an OPC member and who is a street urchin, popularly called "Alaye." In my view, the next state that comes close to Lagos in terms of politically motivated violence and electoral malpractice is Rivers, where might is power and violence, a tradition. |
MissRaine69:What you fail to see is that I am not interested in her new-found sexual orientation. However, the reason she provided for being a Les is flat-out mendacious. I think she has to do soul-searching despite her evangelist honorific. |

MissRaine69:It is self-evident she has been a closet lesbian, waiting for an opportunity to come clean with her personality. I think she has reason for stating her sexual orientation because the society has not suddenly become receptive of same sex relationship. |
MissRaine69:Really? I couldn't find correlation between outdated and unjust cultural practices with sexual preference. Don't you think her spouse's demise opened a window of opportunity to make experiment. |
I think there are so are many reasons for the enduring but unfortunate comical, infantile, and cynical disposition of some Nairalanders towards these ladies. On the one hand, nairaland is a faceless forum, which confers the toga of security to the activities of members. On other hand, this degree of anonymity has been tremendously chipped off with the network of personal connections and relationships. Bear in mind that Nigeria is a patriarchal society that has different yardstick of measuring moral issues between sexes. Below are my reasons why these ladies are routinely abused. First, since a web of relationships have been built, a lot animosity you see is as a result of failed sexual relationships, that left in their wake grudges, bitterness, and severe pain. The party who invested most in the relationship -- be it emotional, financial, spiritual, psychological, etc. -- almost always feels cheated and quickly resorts to nairaland to seek redress. In this self-defeating exercise, the disgruntled party almost certainly gets swift and easy members from both sex. Second, we equally have a lot of indiscriminate, carefree, and incorrigibly blithe ladies, whose naked ambition for acceptance have inevitably led to making fundamentally fatal decision regarding their offline life. The daily revelation of personal and private affairs is a conclusive evidence that ladies should be very careful about who they choose to talk to. Though I concede that they shouldn't take the blame for the immaturity of their partners. Third, some men desire these ladies, and because they couldn't get any of them, they become fair game to cajole and attack. Fourth, opinion always matters. A lot ladies are hated solely because they hold and express opinions some people find repugnant and scandalous. To me, this, in and of itself, is not a problem. Nevertheless, some ladies ignorantly believe that labels -- such as feminism -- elevate self-esteem, and hide under its banner to insult males. The sad realisation that most of them don't practice what they preach, somehow justifies the position of their traducers. Fifth, then we have the pernicious issue of "gender warfare," where issues are treated according to the gender involved, not according to its substance. Here, some of these ladies you mentioned have predictable, unchanging opinions, no matter what sex is in the wrong. |

However, a post I saw on this platform, made in 2013, says an adulturous wife can bring fatal consequences to/upon the children and the husband, if she conceals her evil deeds. Still, you need to do thorough investigation to be sure of what you are getting into. Cheers! Postcript: I had just conversed with an elderly colleague who is from Urhobo ethnic group. He confirmed your anxieties as valid and appropriate, if the husband knows about the wife's flirtatious disposition but decides to keep mum. Consequences can range from death of children, economic hardship and difficulty for the man, and ultimately, his death. The same fate, however, awaits the woman. He told me an anecdote that happened years ago between his wife and a man in the market. He said a man accidentally struck the backside of his wife, and was almost lynched by a horde of insanely exasperated women who accused him of intentionally abusing a married woman. He said his wife had to tell him everything that transpired to avoid incurring the wrath of the land. |

I would have ignore this tread if you didn't questionably call yourself "GreatResearcher." You even add salt to injury by providing the products of your flawed, misinforming, misleading, and unhelpful "research." Nigeria is a badly created contraption; an apotheosis of British greed and self-fishness. Hence, what you mistakenly conceive as monolithic culture/ethnic group of a hypothetical Delta community/state -- just like Nigeria -- is apparently a product of your fickle imagination. I think you should state the ethnic group of your would-be wife in Delta state, then you will get the answer you need. |
