Let me leave you with these pictures of myself, my classmates with our language lecturer and me with my friends here in Yakutsk. grin grin

Despite being a federal university, we are only about 15 in a class. And they don't attempt to burden us with lectures. Itx the same way when you are teaching Russian kids. If a kid does not want to learn, it's fine. You don't have to force them.
.
Thanks for reading.
Medical schools here in Nigeria will suffocate your life and destiny with lectures and clinical postings.

It's bad roads that cause accidents
You're blaming roads instead of blaming the drivers that drive as if they have duplicates. Accidents in Nigeria occur more on good roads than even bad roads because of the high speed our drivers drive on good roads. Bad roads cause accidents too but it's more of drivers faults than roads'.

Lol a dentist is a Medical doctor here in Nigeria, I don’t know about other countries, our curriculum only exclude only O and G and PAED

Which we replace with more than 8 dental departments in dentistry

Dey play, if our medicine and surgery consultants for here Dey call us doctors who the Bleep are you lol, I’m a 4th year dental student and I have passed catheter during surgery posting, Dey here Dey play
A dentist by law isn't a medical doctor but a dental doctor. For the sake of clarity, Medical doctor is ascribed only to MBBS holders and Dental doctors to BDS holders. There's a reason why it's like this. Dentistry seems to be a very broad field, that gave the need to train students in the field as early as possible. Even resident in O and G, you'll do rotations in paediatrics and other subspecialties and that won't automatically make you a paediatrician. During your housejob, as a dentist you'll only rotate through dentistry subspecialties and that tells you a lot. I can't argue with the fact that you do almost everything we do at undergraduate levels, but there's a distinction between Medicine and Dentistry.

Mammangaddafi:
simple question...do dentists undergo residency training in internal medicine or surgery?
I feel he was referring to postings in internal medicine and Surgery. Dentistry is a branch of Medicine, so it's normal to rotate through some departments in the core Medicine during residency in any of the dental specialties. The best thing one can do for himself or herself is to be proud of whatever field he finds himself or better still, go to that field he finds fulfilment. The honest truth is, most of our dental colleagues wanted MBBS in the first place, hence, their urge to defend dentistry at the slightest provocation. This doesn't negate the fact that Dental students do atleast 80% of what Medical students do at undergraduate levels.

I am talking about their prime and stop comparing a 37 year old Ronaldo with current Messi.
What's the difference? It's just 2 years and that's almost insignificant cuz Messi even look older sef. You and I know I'm telling the truths. Even in his late 20s and early 30s, it was just goals and nothing more!

why can't he be compared with Messi? What has Messi done that he hasn't done? Just tell me one thing Messi has that Ronaldo hasn't replicated and don't come here and tell me u balloon dor
Messi is far better with passes, dribbling and team play. Messi doubles as a midfielder most of the time; a skillset Ronaldo lacks. If Messi doesn't score for you, you'll still play him because he brings other contributions apart from goals to the team. If Ronaldo doesn't score for you, and you still play him, you already have a minus one in your team. If he's that good all round,I don't see why Ten Hag would bench him. Messi can't be benched in any team in this life and beyond. He will only stop play playing when he hangs his boot. You' think football is just to stand in the box and wait for crosses and score one or two goals and win Man of the match. Na why Ten hag wan use bench kill am because he offers nothing than goals and becomes minus one when Utd are defending.

Boss, not all medical schools experience accreditation issues. Take for instance, the university in my state (Rivers State), they started medicine in 2018 and not one week has been lost due to accreditation or strike. The first set that was admitted in 2018(400 level class) are preparing to write 3rd MB next week. It all depends on the seriousness of the government and management. The take off fund for the Rivers State University medical school was a whopping 7.6 Billion naira. If all state governments and the Federal government can be this committed, accreditation issues will be a thing of the past.
Has the school graduated any set yet? If not, wait till then. I could be wrong though!

What makes you think he will suffer the two things you aforementioned if you choose FUTA. FUTA is not the only University that ASUU strike affected. It affects UI also, so what point are you driving at? You can't jump into conclusion easily that FUTA will have accreditation problem. It is not even up to three years they started Medicine. Stop making FUTA look bad if you are trying to persuade him to choose UI. You are trying to bad-mouth a school just because you want to showcase another school.
You think it's that easy. Every medical school in Nigeria usually passes through the phase of accredition hitches, it's almost an unwritten rule. Even the first set at UI finished their MBBS degrees in London. UNIBEN and IFE finished theirs somewhere else and that privilege is no longer available. The aspirants should just be aware of all these in order to make wise decisions. If they think they can bear the risk of facing accreditation problems and probably spending up to 9-10 yrs, then that's good them. It's the just info and expectations that are important.

After a while I began to accept the fact that I would not get admitted to the med course even though I score 100/100 in PUTME... So slowly I become to accept the fact that I would read the dentistry course but wasn't happy, so I began to look up into the internet to find anything that would change my mind, but most of them are just looking for ways to generate traffic for their sites, the article presented were not too useful for me, maybe the article contain information about the author country ( US, India, and so on... But when I tried this site, it really showed me that the course is not that bad and very lucrative as well..... Now am very sure I won't fail or back out of the course cus I think am beginning to love the course.. smiley smiley
Dentistry is a nice course and highly profitable. It's just that you will have to study hard even than your medicine counterparts because of the workload. In my class, we're all one and we seem can't differentiate who's in Medicine and who's in Dentistry.

Hello everyone, my FSB exam is on Saturday, 8am at Ibadan..pls scholars in the house, is it possible for the exam to start at that time exactly because I'm coming from Lagos to Ibadan.

I am considering factors like traffic delay and all that.
If you leave as early as 5:00 a.m, you should get to Ibadan before 8.00 a.m. The exam might not even start by 8:00 am. But if you're not sure of leaving by 5 a.m, travel down to Ibadan tomorrow and look for where to stay overnight. Hotels are relatively cheaper in Ibadan.

Your school ID card and NIN slip. The later was probably the reason I couldn't win the award in my 1st attempt as I couldn't get mine on time and couldn't finish the exam. Not all centers demand it but if you have it, plz take it along.

Please guys I need your help.
@mod pls help me move to appropriate section.

I am confuse, needs advice on what step to take next.

The whole thing begins on 25th July when i had unprotected sex with my bf. before then my last period came on the 17th of July. so i had sex just about a week after.

Since then uptil now i have not seen my period. Initially I worried i may be pregnant but after several urine and blood test it all turns out negetive. what could be wrong here? This is the first time i am experiencing this.

I have done 4 test myself using pt test strips. but all came negative. Yesterday I went to a private lab an de used my blood and urine sample for pregnancy test, it still came out negative.

Abeg any medical expert or any one with past experience should assist with advice on next step please.

Note, my boyfriend is aware of the whole situation. he himself is confused. plus I am 23 yrs old just incase my age will aid in the diagnosis.
If you used contraceptives like postinor2, there's nothing to worry about. One of the mechanism of actions of postinor2 is that it interrupts your hormonal levels of gonadotropins to delay ovulation hence your menstrual cycle is also interrupted as a result. But if you never used it, you have a lot of worry about which one of them is pregnancy. A pregnancy test rerun with blood might do justice to that.

If you want to preach, open your branch and people will flood in. Sleep is one thing some people don't joke with.

Hello everyone,
I am in dire need of your honest advice. I am a fan of Nairaland but created this because of identity.
I am a medical student studying medicine in one of the public universities in Nigeria. When the ASUU strike newly started, I started looking for things to do and clients to work for. Fortunately, I got two clients who pay me about 200K per month since April. It varies; last month, I earned 199K, this month will be 220K+ if I work harder.
I have saved most of the money to write professional exams.
However, my school still conducts lectures through Zoom and we have not had rest since the strike started. We do have classes from 8am till 5pm except on some days. I am about three months back and our test is coming up soon.
Please do you advise I quite my 200k/per month and focus on my studies seeing that i have lots of materials to read and prepare for my test?
P.S: I have tried balancing but the freelance work is highly demanding. What do i do please?

Lalasticlala please help. Push this to front page. Thank you.
I can't say you should stop your side hustle because you definitely need the money to survive Medical school. What you need is to create a balance. You can reduce the amount of time you spend on your side hustle. Keeping aside 8 hours per day for reading is not bad. Your passion for Medicine will go a long way determine how much time you devote to your personal study. You don't need to attend all the lectures, just attend the important ones.

If your driving force to study Medicine is the money, you're going to find it difficult ti do this because you've started earning what some doctors don't even earn. But notwithstanding, strike a balance. I know people who are working and doing quite well in medical school.

Do you know there are medicines that can cause Kidney, heart and liver failure?
For instance, chloramphenicol when used for a long time can cause bone marrow diseases.

Many of us will think alcohol and smoking are the only cause of organ failure but self prescription is one of the major causes as some drugs can be have devastating side effects.
