PoliticsRe: Ezekwesili Replies Sanusi On $45bn Reserves by mrjingles(m): 9:02pm On Mar 08, 2013
Several glaring issues have been exposed by this thread:
1. Most of us are hopeless at mathematics
2. Most of us don't understand english (the level of understanding is beginning to frighten me)
3. Most of us don't know a thing about economics.

on medical threads people humbly ask questions but on economic matters everyone becomes milton keynes.
How in God's name can someone in Nigeria with internet access in 2013 not know what subset means? people are actually making arguments that the woman herself has abandoned, accusing the government of trying to distort facts.

Me think some of us should spend less time posting on NL and spend more time trying to LEARN something.
PoliticsRe: Reps Move To Criminalise Late, Non-payment Of Salaries by mrjingles(m): 3:53pm On Mar 06, 2013
This is a wrong move by the NASS, they are supposed to make laws to encourage business, this will stifle employment growth and make workers worse off. Businesses will simply resort to more casual or contract staff and write in all sorts of clauses to enable them escape the laws, besides all the labour laws in the books are presently not enforced so what will make this one different? Important laws like PIB are languishing and these guys are talking about non issues like paying unemployed graduates and "criminalising" delayed salaries. Make laws to enable businesses and jobs will be created that's what the economy needs not meaningless populist, "notice me" laws.
BusinessRe: Company Directors, Investors and Share Allocation: Can Someone Explain? by mrjingles(m): 5:31pm On Feb 27, 2013
There is no simple answer to your questions as it depends on the specific circumstances. You need not only a lawyer as most people here suggest but also a good business/financial adviser. The kind of business you are going into and the level of specialised skill, knowledge or technology required determines how much control you can exert (I am assuming you are the one with the required knowledge)And issues of ownership size also involves valuation thats why you need a business/financial adviser, using just a lawyer will not solve your issues. Go get you team together and be ready to pay them in cash or kind.
PoliticsRe: Julius Berger To Build Second Niger-Bridge by mrjingles(m): 5:30pm On Feb 23, 2013
what is this argument about? Something good is happening and you are expending energy debating who gets the credit? Who cares? A bridge built by GEJ, OBJ, JJB or coco the clown will be just as useful to Nigerians. Harry S Truman was so right:"YOU WILL BE AMAZED AT WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IF YOU DON'T CARE WHO GETS THE CREDIT" we really ought to be ashamed of ourselves. Lets criticize objectively and celebrate all success no matter how small it may appear.
BusinessRe: Charged N10,000 For Collecting Western-Union With Incorrect ID by mrjingles(m): 10:32am On Feb 23, 2013
This story na wash abeg. Banks accept ANY government issued ID so that boy's story is a huge lie. You can even specify the kind of ID in some transactions. I have written: pay on presentation of EXPIRED NDL and the transaction was honored. You guys rush to malign this country based on hear say and outright falsehood. No bank can insist you have an account before u collect WU, dat na big lie. Any bank foolish enuf to ask that you just go to another bank because they all access the same WU server.

@OP if the money you sent is not for you brother's personal use then its my sad duty to inform you that the young man has deducted a "withholding tax" for services rendered. Oh and did he tell you what he collected was actual dollars and not naira equivalent? The guy must have hit you twice- the 10k "bribe" and the exchange rate he will declare (eg tell u the rate was 156 vs the actual 160). No vex sha na your blood, mek u tek kia of the young man or arrange for him to join u.
PoliticsRe: Pictures From Eko Atlantic Opening Ceremony... by mrjingles(m): 12:30am On Feb 23, 2013
@ leostrich I appreciate your passion but Guy address issues and stop ranting insults. Resorting to insults betrays a lack of intellectual firepower and I am sure your are an intelligent person. You have not made ANY counter arguments. I am willing to debate sans insults. REASONED debate, not emotional outbursts. I am good at insults but it adds nothing to the conversation.
PoliticsRe: Pictures From Eko Atlantic Opening Ceremony... by mrjingles(m): 12:04am On Feb 23, 2013
Guyz guyz guyz I respect peoples view on economics no matter how outlandish BUT I draw the line when ANYBODY starts advocating socialism. Whoever does that must have been living under a very very LARGE boulder for the past 50 years! How can anybody point to CUBA as an example? Abeg if na joke mek una stop am haba. The happenings in CHINA in recent years are enough to end any talk of socialism as a viable economic model, it sounds good in theory but even die hard communists like china know when to give up, not even the chinese premier can recommend socialism with a straight face. Whoever advocates socialism in this day and age must have been in cryogenic storage since 1950!

The simple truth is YOU CANT FIGHT THE LAWS OF DEMAND AND SUPPLY! cuba, ussr, eastern bloc, china have all tried and failed. North Korea are persisting and are looking more comical by the day.

I have also noticed that most of us don't know the difference between foreign exchange earnings and GDP. Agriculture is the largest contributor to GDP and the biggest employer in Nigeria, not dangote group or julius berger as some beer palour analysts will tell you. Oil and gas is the highest foreign exchange earner and contributor to government revenues but a smaller part of GDP. I bet if the government widens the tax base and becomes more efficient tax revenues will dwarf oil and gas income. Before commenting on economic issues lets try and remember O.A Lawal pls.

PoliticsRe: Senate To FG: Save 3rd Mainland Bridge From Collapsing by mrjingles(m): 8:07pm On Feb 08, 2013
people who cant make a simple lego model are commenting authoritatively on a bridge! guys wey never enter physics class since dem parents born dem dey talk of joints! Who are the "experts" who carried out this "assessment"? Who commissioned them to do the job, abi na free? If the senators are so pained by the condition of the bridges why didnt they include funds for new ones in the 2013 budget instead of padding the budget with contracts for themselves in the name of increase? Make una no annoy me o! huh
PoliticsRe: PDP vs APC - 2015 Projection Model by mrjingles(m): 10:09pm On Feb 07, 2013
Let me see.... Buhari will insist on being the alpha and omega of the party, insist on not only being the presidential candidate but also present a shortlist of vp candidates for "selection" Tinubu and his gang will shout nay! and Buhari will pull out based on "principle" and the yahoo yahoo merger will collapse. The tinubu gang will decide to "deal" with him by overtly campaigning for whatever is left of the party after cpc jumps ship but will quietly work with pdp and you know who will win again.

PoliticsRe: Objectively List The Sins Of The President by mrjingles(m): 1:16pm On Jan 23, 2013
Omexonomy: so gej should go to every state to teach the governors what to do abi. Including fashola and t a orji.
That's the problem we have in this country, people don't understand a federal structure, that explains why we hold the wrong people accountable most times. we should introduce lessons on the democratic process into the school curriculum
PoliticsRe: Objectively List The Sins Of The President by mrjingles(m): 12:53pm On Jan 23, 2013
Anytime Nland gets a bit dull, a "Jonathan thread" gets hoisted on the front page. The man divides opinions big time and is guaranteed to jazz up things on Nland. Walahi Seun u need to "settle" GEJ o, the guy don try for you. grin
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Military Ranks 4th In Africa And 36th In The World by mrjingles(m): 4:54pm On Jan 20, 2013
einstein_e: There is a HUGE difference between peacekeeping and actual war. Nigeria has not been involved in the latter since 1970.
Bros you don't know your history, you think Nigerian troops went to sierra leon and liberia for vacation? That was not peacekeeping but peace enforcement. It was all out war bros.
PoliticsRe: Petrol Sell For N120 In Enugu State Since 2012 by mrjingles(m): 1:34pm On Jan 12, 2013
I expect people to be outraged and "occupy" the stations selling above the official price. But it seems we don't understand the implication. It means the fuel is SUBSIDIZED TWICE! So its the Marketers that are being subsidized and NOT the end user. So whats the point of the subsidy? REMOVE IT! We try to rewrite and deny clear economic facts and that's a fool's errand. Shows how silly protesting about subsidy removal is.
SportsRe: Nigeria’s 50 Greatest Footballers Of All Time By Supersports by mrjingles(m): 5:54pm On Jan 06, 2013
I agree with sagamite on this, Jay Jay ahead of kanu, he gave the eagles over 13 years of sterling performances. Kanu wd have been untouchable if not the heart issue, it really took a lot out of him.

Abeg is Paul Hamilton on that list? Sagamite if Mikel is on the list then Okwaraji should be there.
PoliticsRe: North Ready To Chase Jonathan Out Of Power In 2015 - Arewa by mrjingles(m): 7:10pm On Jan 05, 2013
I dont usually comment on politics but if Ladbrokes were taking bets on 2015 election they would pay out on a GEJ victory before 2015. BECAUSE:
Pple calling him retardeen are suddenly his fans because they hate "the north" more than him, talk about "regionalism".
Am not a fan of the "biggest party in africa" but fact is it remains the only party with effective presence in every ward of every LG of every state in Nigeria, beating them will be very very tough.
"The north" will produce a lousy candidate and Voters will opt for the devil they know. Only a TOTAL ABJECT failure by the incumbent and a really quality opponent can change a GEJ 2015 victory- but what are the odds? even "the north" doesnt like their best candidates.
PoliticsRe: Reasons Why Our Society Is Underdeveloped by mrjingles(m): 2:25pm On Dec 29, 2012
cap28: these are merely symptoms of a corrupt system and do not address the CAUSE of the corruption which was created by the western imperialist system of capitalism which still dicatates your economic and political system, you need to do more research and look at where the problem originated from as opposed to the end result of that problem which you have listed up there.

until nigeria gets out from under the western hegemony of the UNITED STATES AND THE EU there is no hope for nigeria or any other african nation.

the european nations dictate your economic policies via their international financial institutions ie IMF, world bank and the Paris club

they own and control your media- everything your domestic media reports must be authorised by them first, their own media operates freely and without any restrictions in your countries and their news takes precedence over your own news

your educational system is tailored in accordance with their own educational system

you replace your own religious systems with their own - christianity and islam

IN OTHER WORDS YOU ARE A ROBOT OF WESTERN HEGEMONY - YOU HAVE NO MIND OF YOUR OWN AND YOU DO NOT OWN OR CONTROL YOUR OWN NATURAL RESOURCES HOW THEN CAN YOU BE BLAMED FOR THE COLLAPSE OF YOUR OWN SOCIEITIES?
With all due respect sir this argument is so old and tired, not even marx, engels and lenin can present it with a straight face. The issues raised are simple issues within each ones power. Its high time we stop this "blame the west" knee jerk reaction. Other countries with the same colonial experience have moved forward so that crutch is no longer available.
PoliticsRe: Reasons Why Our Society Is Underdeveloped by mrjingles(m): 2:09pm On Dec 29, 2012
This thread wont go far because it contains HARD truth and requires self examination instead of the usual insults of our "leaders" I have always argued that we are a contributors to the corruption around us. Lets ALL agree on that then we can move fwd. We are one of the most hypocritical nation. When someone does something, its "tribalism" "wickedness" etc, when I do it its "sharpness" "smartness". NO society can develop where people are allergic to truth and we wear lies like face cap.
PoliticsRe: Aturu Slams Fashola On Lagos Fire Comment by mrjingles(m): 1:57pm On Dec 29, 2012
The advice to read and think before replying has been missed by both Aturu and a lot of posters here. Fashola did not comment on the legality or otherwise of firecrackers, he commented on enforcing TOWN PLANNING rules. If the rules were enforced a fireworks warehouse would probably not be located so close to residential apartments. Aturu in his usual "notice me" comments was reacting to another issue entirely (belus don full belle).

Coming to his comments, what's "undemocratic" about the governor's comments? The man is criticizing his critics, that for me is a form of debate, This " I sabi talk" lawyer should respond to the issues not speak big grammar attacking the person. That's typical of most Nigerians even on Nairaland, we have lost our ability to DEBATE which is the very core of a democratic society. We now resort to trash talk, insults and "beer palour" analysis.

SportsRe: Osaze Disses Victor Ikpeba On Twitter by mrjingles(m): 10:58am On Dec 27, 2012
Osaze is a good player full of passion and I love him BUT:

1. He praised Lagerback before WC 2010 but commenced insulting the man when he wasnt picked
2. He picked a fight with SiaSia over selection issues
3. He picked a fight with Keshi over selection issues

Just being a good player doesnt guarantee u a call up.

Do we see a pattern here? Those saying he's outspoken and says the truth don't know what they are saying, he has never had a problem with a coach over the TEAM but always about himself, that my friends is arrogance and petulance not saying the truth.

Now he's picking a fight with Ikpeba! Come shoe get size, whether Ikpeba speaks good english or not there's NOWAY NOHOW you can compare Osaze to Victor, not in terms of skills as a player or achievements. The problem is that most posters are small boys who dont know their soccer history. Ikpeba started playing for Nigeria as an U17 player in 1988! Osaze should win top scorer award in his league, play for a TOP club in his league, play in the champions league, play alongside worldcup winners, win olympic gold, score in the worldcup, win best african award in his league and win African player of the year. THEN he can sit down and talk to Victor Ikpeba. If victor was playing today osaze will be the ball boy!
SportsRe: Osaze Odemwingie Lashes Out At Keshi And NFF Over AFCON 2013 Exclusion by mrjingles(m): 4:37pm On Dec 23, 2012
I am a fan of osaze but I wrote him off as a person after the wc 2010 fiasco. The guy talks before he thinks. After Lagerback was signed he praised the guy to high heavens, when lagerback benched him he started bad mouthing the man, shows a lack of character as a man. Great footballer but lousy fellow. I wish he thinks as well as he plays.

You guys are not getting it, before Ghana discovered oil elections pass peacefully, nothing to fight over. This is the first election after oil started flowing, you aint seen nothing yet, the poor guys wont be allowed to run their affairs in peace anymore. The Pie is too big and juicy to be ignored. Am afraid Ghana has seen its last "peaceful" elections.

PoliticsRe: Lagos To Generate 3000 Megawatts In Two Years- This Day News by mrjingles(m): 1:58pm On Dec 10, 2012
If ur planning to deliver 3000 MW by 2014 then the projects MUST be ongoing by now, the only mention was akute and lagos island IPP which output are puny compared to the declared target. Hope this is not a politician talking without thinking. A 300MW plant planned in mozambique would take 36 months and cost $504 million. That should put the 3000MW plan in perspective.

PoliticsRe: US Firm, General Electric, Accuses Nigerian Judiciary Of Corruption In US Court by mrjingles(m): 12:20pm On Dec 05, 2012
This talk of corruption is besides the point, GE is just trying to muddy the waters, the simple question is: Did the Nigerian Court err in point of law and/or procedure in awarding the judgement against GE? Their argument is frivolous and does not address the core issues of the case. Lets stop responding based on sentiment.
