PoliticsRe: GEJ Achievement Tracker - 2010 - Till 2015 by mrjingles(m): 9:43am On May 26, 2011
ALL of you trackers, how many of you know the name of your local govt chairman or local Councillor? Better yet how many of you know your local govt? @ op, don't use headlines from journalists as benchmarks. Use official government documents (power sector road map for example is well on course) and get the real position. Do some work to show you are really serious and objective.
BusinessRe: CBN Imposes Limits, Penalty On Cash Transactions, Again! by mrjingles(m): 8:08am On May 01, 2011
Its obvious many of us do not understand this policy, we are using "dugbe market" analysis. No need commenting further on this, it would be a dialogue of he deaf.

Anyways you guys can vent away while the train moves on. Instead  of you "young intelligent Nigerians" on NLand to think of how to key into this you are busy making meaningless comments. "those saying something is impossible are interrupting those busy DOING the 'impossible'.  When chinese and south africans take over the market you will start grumbling about "foreigners taking all our money" I dey go jare.
BusinessRe: CBN Imposes Limits, Penalty On Cash Transactions, Again! by mrjingles(m): 5:58am On Apr 30, 2011
THIS IS AN EXCELLENT POLICY ask me how i Know this- BECAUSE MOST POSTERS HERE DISAGREE WITH IT! Clearly most posters  don't understand the policy and are just displaying their ignorance. For those who are not aware this is just a phase in a process that commenced YEARS ago.

There is now no "ring-fenced" payment systems which means all cards would work on all atms pos and other channels. Cash Transaction limits was 10million before and it was just reduced to the figures disclosed. Most government transactions have been via e-payment for the past 2-3 years. Bank account numbers have been standardized so issues of sort code and bank codes have been dealt with and cheque sizes have also been standardized. The recent update of customer account details is also part of the process.

It is obvious a lot of posters dont use the clearing system because you would know that clearing cycles have reduced. As per infrastructure we are just being alarmist- the average pos terminal is like a mobile phone and it runs on battery. We already have payment platforms, Nigerian Electronic Funds Transfer system (NEFT), Nigerian Interbank Settlement System (NIBSS), Nigerian Automated Clearing System (NACS)- Non of the above has been in use for less than 5 years so they are tested and proven systems. Mobile payment licenses have been issued so TRUE mobile payments would soon commence.

Everything is coming together gradually and we are making steady progress. Decisions arrived at by CBN and Bankers' Committee are not "beer palour" decisions. For all those posting rubbish here, how many of you have run a bank before? You can disagree with the decision but insulting people  shows how poorly a lot of us are thinking. Either you key in or be left behind. I foresee an explosion in e-business and support services. Advise to some Nlanders- you dont have to post on EVERY thread, some issues are beyond your sphere of knowledge.

Jarus make una leave this clueless clownish babasala papa ajasco OP. He clearly doesn't know ANYTHING about SLS save for the fact that he is from a royal family in kano and has more than 1wife! SLS is the FOREMOST expert on risk management (the man can implement BASLEII in his sleep) It was his risk management talent that took him to FBN in the first place. This thread would have been useless except that it exposes just how oafish some pple are.

I can't do that because the post has absolutely nothing to do with anything I have typed so far on this issue . . . feel free to respond to the accusations leveled if you want . . . I am not in the mood to correct anyone on the importance of maintaining context anymore. cheesy
Typical. People just ignore this woman, discussing with her is impossible, she rushes to comment on issues she is not remotely qualified to talk about. thats the beauty of the internet and forums like this, anybody can say whatever the want.
PoliticsRe: Goodluck Asks Buhari To Call His Supporters To Order by mrjingles(m): 12:55am On Apr 19, 2011
Clearly a lot of the posts here are from people high on emotions and some with the mistaken idea that campaign for the presidency is on going. There is clearly a misunderstanding of the DEMOCRATIC procedures in such matters. The GOVERNOR is the chief security officer in each state, so they are the ones to take the FIRST action on this. There's a curfew in place in Kaduna and Kano invoked by the Governors. If the situation deteriorates further the President MAY have to declare a state of emergency, that is when the Federal level can take over.

Those shouting "kill them" are uninformed and shortsighted, imagine the president sending troops to shoot and kill at the first sign of trouble, it will further inflame passions and worsen the situation. The curfew is sufficient for now and the presidents call for calm is proper. Do you guys want him to say "This government will deal with all troublemakers"? Thats military speak which does not belong in a civil society. For those "missing" obasanjo, ask the survivors of Odi and Zaki Biam, force was excessive and did not solve the problem.

Ladies and gentlemen presidential elections are over and quit insulting the president, if you dont respect the man, respect his office. All those calling him names, I wonder how well you are running YOUR personal affairs. Some cant even manage a bloody DESK. Lots have NEVER held any leadership position, you are just keyboard warriors and "experts" If you think you can do better why not run for office, councilor for a start?

mR HIROSHI or whatever you are called stop speading lies. I know there is tension in Kano ( i am in Kano right now), there is no such thing as jubilation because of coup.
Oga with all due respect you are lying. There is an indefinite curfew in Kano, Gov Shekarau just imposed it, check vanguard website. This not time for nonesensical posts.
PoliticsRe: Violence In Kaduna By Buhari/CPC Supporters by mrjingles(m): 11:40am On Apr 18, 2011
I think Buhari should come out with a statement calling on his supporters to desist from these acts. He should condemn the violence in clear terms. That is what a statesman and patriot would do. His LOUD SILENCE is not helpful.

there something called a RADIO if u get one and tune to FRCN and other stations you will get the report. Bauchi and Gombe are also confirmed. I see ur point though, NL is now a rumour and alarmist hub.
PoliticsRe: Violence In Kaduna By Buhari/CPC Supporters by mrjingles(m): 10:30am On Apr 18, 2011
Madam Tpia we are talking about kaduna ur posting link on katsina, the above incident has NOTHING to do with elections, the officer has been arrested and CP promised he will be charged today. There's a riot in Kaduna and its on the radio, Ive called a friend there and he confirmed the army is out and the town is in lockdown until further notice. Everything is not about posting links.

PAPA AJASCO has ended, its now FUJI HOUSE OF COMMOTION. Everybody posting their pipe-dream wishes and delusions. Meanwhile INEC is quietly compiling the real stuff. You people are keeping us entertained while we wait for the results, how generous of you all. May your fingers not grow weary!
PoliticsRe: Presidential Election, 16th April, 2011 by mrjingles(m): 11:00pm On Apr 16, 2011
Obviously MOST posters have NO idea what it takes to win this election, sad fact is Buhari's chances are slim to none except there's a run off with acn voters switching to cpc but even a runoff is going to be a bridge too far. His sectional local champion performance will be his undoing. It is exactly what the constitutional provisions were designed to checkmate.

@ Akosbaba,There are 120,000 polling units, the results posted here so far (assuming they are all accurate) is NOT basis for any kind of conclusion. Any conclusion based on this is either mischief making or fantasy.

134. (1) A candidate for an election to the office of President shall be
deemed to have be been duly elected, where, there being only two candidates
   for the election -
         (a) he has the majority of votes cast at the election; and
         (b) he has not less than one-quarter of the votes cast at the election
in each of at least two-thirds of all the States in the Federation and
         the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
     (2) A candidate for an election to the office of President shall be deemed
to have been duly elected where, there being more than two candidates for
     the election-
         (a) he has the highest number of votes cast at the election;
         and
         (b) he has not less than one-quarter of the votes cast at the election
each of at least two-thirds of all the States in the Federation and            the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Understand  the constitutional provisions.[s] Candidate must FIRST win MAJORITY  in at LEAST 2/3 of states with a MINIMUM of 25% of votes cast in EACH  state he wins. It means if candidate A wins a state but he does not receive  at LEAST 25% of votes he will NOT have won that state as far as the election is concerned. It means if there are many candidates in a state and one of them wins but all his votes amount to say 15% of ALL votes cast then he has not won that state.[/s] Lets understand to avoid confusion when results are declared. BTW above is S134 of the CONSTITUTION
PoliticsRe: Presidential Election, 16th April, 2011 by mrjingles(m): 3:39pm On Apr 16, 2011
Your theory is not unusual, rules like 25% in 2/3 of states are made to prevent one man winning by virtue of votes from one region. Buhari MAY win the popular votes but will lose due to lack of spread. That has been his problem all the while. Al Gore had the same problem. He won the popular vote but didnt win enough states. I dont expect Buhari to complain if he loses on that basis, the rules are clear.

Evil Brain:
I'm on th queue. Have managed to convince a few people to vote against PDP.
Canvassing for votes at polling units is forbidden by the electoral rules. This is a form of rigging, your fervor for your preferred candidate is not an excuse for breaking the law. Do not become guilty of what you accuse your opponents of. What you did is wrong.
PoliticsRe: Rigging Has Begun by mrjingles(m): 12:16pm On Apr 16, 2011
Have you all noticed that all posts mention "reports of rigging"? No one has mentioned WITNESSING rigging. Innuendo and unverified claims are not helpful.
PoliticsRe: I'm Predicting Buhari Will Win On Saturday! by mrjingles(m): 12:59am On Apr 16, 2011
Evil Brain:
Wrong. I'm saying the PDP should stop rigging and stealing money or our democracy will perish. I have no problem with the PDP winning if they are more popular. The problem is them winning when they are not.

And Buhari is not a saint. But if he wins, it will be the first time Nigerians have successfully changed their government through the ballot box. That is the whole point of democracy and until we manage to do it, we are just fooling ourselves.

What we have today is a pseudodemocracy just like they had in Egypt, Syria and Saddam's Iraq. I'm honestly not sure how it's in any way better than a benign military dictatorship.
You cant seriously compare Nigeria to these countries. Saddam's Iraq was a military dictatorship in disguise (lets not even mention the chemical weapons used against the kurds) in Egypt mubarak gets to decide who contests elections! (forget rigging it wasnt necessary) syria was essentially a qausi-monarchist dictatorship. You can come on this form and insult the Nigerian president, try it in the above countries and see what happens. Am not saying all is well (all is definitely NOT well) but to compare Nigeria to these countries is not quite accurate. Lets keep our emotions in check.
