PoliticsRe: PHCN Assets: IBB, Abdulsalami, Tinubu Lead Bid Battle by mrjingles(m): 7:26pm On Sep 07, 2012
All of u are just venting, who get money go put together a bid and join the race, u think bidding is like registering for NECO? Feasibility study alone costs millions, its a very complicated expensive and risky enterprise, if you don't have deep pockets, financial institutions backing you and a "name" you're wasting time. You know how much they have to PAY to acquire the business? the the INVESTMENT they need to make in the businesses? Its not money you can withdraw from personal account. If the financial institutions are not with u there's no chance you can do it.

most of the names being bandied are used for network and for the company to have some clout, like it or not, hate them or not the names mentioned have it. As a bank would you back a bid headed by one of the names or a nobody? This matter is not for children regardless of what we may think. We may not like it but that's the reality. Tinubu,IBB or Pope John Paul all I want na regular power. That's my own stake in the matter.

I told a friend two years ago that if there's any airline called air nigeria in 5 years it would be miracle of biblical proportions. The man is a PROFESSIONAL ASSET STRIPPER AND SCAMMER. Trade bank, Nicon Insurance, Nicon air (former EAS) Newswatch Magazine, AP filling stations (rebranded as ENERGY of which am yet to see any operating)Air Niegria, VGC communications (fraudulent purchase, don't know how that story ended) Men this guy na expert yahoo yahoo. Same guy once assembled "aspiring youths" for a "motivational" lecture at a hotel in ogba.

Internet access is getting cheaper and better in Nigeria, rather than use it to create value and start good businesses the majority of our youth are busy engaging in "yahoo yahoo" and making ignorant comments in bad English on fora like Nland. This thread is a typical example of how we are losing our humanity, nland used to be a forum for heated but reasoned and intelligent debate, now its just a forum for "motor park" and "beer palour" argument any. Sad

In the court of fowls, the cockroach can never win his case.

There is NOTHING GEJ will do that will satisfy some people, the man "has not done anything" they attacked, he has achieved something (no matter how small in their opinion) they attack! He may be dull clueless and weak but we must admit he has done SOMETHING right. Its just silly pride really, they can't bear the fact that their doomsday predictions are not panning out. Its more like "how DARE GEJ achieve ANYTHING! we have declared him a failure so fail he must!" sad for them really.

Are we still arguing if this is true? Even after it has been on CNN for hours? Shows the level of stupidity of the idiots here. If you're still doubting it, here is the link below. Read the 9th paragraph.

Now I see why some Nairalanders are so fu.cki.ng dumb.
Nigerian security officers also entered CNN's Lagos bureau on Monday, CNN officials said. The network said it was seeking an explanation for the visit but that the bureau continued normal operations.

The above doesn't sound like a "raid"to me. CNN buried it in paragraph 9 like u said, its like an "o by the way" report. You guys are making a mountain out of a molehill. SSS enter BBC and CNN office, Kini Big deal? Stop hyperventilating work dey tomorrow.
PoliticsRe: Sss Invaded Bbc And Cnn Offices In Lagos? by mrjingles(m): 3:07pm On Jan 16, 2012
So SSS agents invade BBC and CNN office and they don't report it on their own website? They would jump on it like a hungry dog on a fat juicy bone! They surely wont rely on some kururkere blog to report it. THANK GOD this strike has ended, na idleness dey cause all these kind things.

babestella:
the price of fuel (pms) is said not to be up to 60 naira per liter at apapa/ibafon depot. please can anyone verifyhuh?. in fact it is said to arrive ibafon depot at about 58 naira per liter, can someone please verify and let us know?? we want to know the truth about this subsidy, please OR is it just a slang people have used to divert our money into their pockets.
sista you have been asking this question on different threads but lets be reasonable- IF fuel is selling for anything below 135-137 ANYWHERE in this country do you honestly think anybody will buy it elsewhere for 130? even 65? Lets apply common sense and basic economic knowledge pls. If it exists market arbitrage will quickly eliminate that "cheap" price. Don't believe everything you here on this issue, some people don't even know what a subsidy is and they are getting worked up.

You guys really need to stop displaying wholesale ignorance and leave Ghana out of your shite !!! They only began producing oil officially and commercially in late 2010. Obviously that means, before then, they were in the worst category posible i.e very poor non-oil producing third world nation that had no choice but to subsidise the importation of refined deritative of crude to keep the economy moving - literally !!!

The current subsidy removal for Ghana has seen PMS rise by 15%. Are you Nigerians at all sane to be comparing that to your hyper-inflation inducing PMS increase of 150%?
The above is a perfect example of circular logic.

That is a silly list.

@topic
It is excellent that salaries will be cut by 25%. However, we need to demand more cuts, especially of the NASS salaries. There is no reason why senators who do absolute fuckall should take home more than Obama. It is an insult to all Nigerian's, in fact, it is spitting on us.

I am very impressed with all the other measures the President has taken and think that we should let peace reign, while he gets down to work. The removal of the subsidy is a necessary first move to uproot corruption in society, right now GEJ is a lamb among wolves and needs the backing of the street; give it to him, cos I believe he has us in mind.
If any of us insists on demonstrating (and why not?), then let it be about issues that will build the country up. Let it be about:
[li]Corruption[/li]
[li]Forcing the NASS to speedily pass the PIB when it is retabled this year[/li]
[li]Use the demo as a way to work with GEJ to move us forward[/li]
[li]Making our state governors and LG chairmen accountable[/li]
[li]Getting ou states to develop and generate revenue, it is a disgrace that after 51 years, they still rely on Abuja, like we are all disabled[/li]
[li]True federalism[/li]
pls add abrogation of the demonic Land Use Act to this list. If the protest is about the above they will have my attention. Occupy Nigeria should start by occupying their local govt office and demand performance. Anything else na fashion parade.
PoliticsRe: Fuel Subsidy Removal: President Goodluck Jonathan's Speech by mrjingles(m): 11:40pm On Jan 07, 2012
^ very strange that Ghanians are not protesting, because they just started producing oil, or is it that they understand issues better? they are not used to government handouts? or their govt did a better job of communicating the issues involved? I really wonder.

The last i heard Allowances are calculated from basic salaryhuh
Why is Ghana not protesting their subsidy removal??
Makes you wonder if most posters are in formal employment and how many therefore pay any tax, we shout about our rights but forget to carry out our obligations. Whoever has taxable income but does not pay tax has no right to carryout ANY kind of protest because those paying taxes are already subsidizing them, asking for fuel subsidy on top of that is too much. How many of us will tolerate a pay cut of 25%? Guy if anybody touch 25% of my anything whether basic or allowance I go wound person.

what is happening in Nigeria reminds me of a book titled Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds. Hysteria is the only word that comes to mind, people are shouting and thumping the table demanding that graft should continue, that govt should continue to piss away money in the name of subsidy. Madness of crowds indeed.

I tire o! reason has gone out the window and the crowd is baying for blood. The situation now is a like a man who is inflamed with passion for a woman he will not listen to any reason until he sleeps with her, only afterwards will he realize what he has done. UNTIL people have their strike they cannot rest. But it will all be for a waste cos nothing will change. Labour just dey do gragra to save face. I doubt if this Govt. will allow them have a dignified exit out of this one, they may well end up a discredited bunch.

PoliticsRe: Strike: Nigerians Should Ignore Any Black Market Injunction (nlc) by mrjingles(m): 11:59pm On Jan 06, 2012
Labour unions have backed themselves into an extremely tight corner and there's only two outcomes total victory or total loss of face, I cant believe they didn't know the procedures for taking strike action. The leaders were too eager to commence action and "show" the government.

Allowing this loophole for the government to exploit is an own goal. Well that's the problem when you only have a hammer, everything looks like a nail. The THREAT of strike DURING negotiations would have been more effective. If they commence the strike and FG doesn't budge what next, it may or rather will fizzle out(hunger will force self employed back to work). NEVER use your big gun because once you do you have nothing else. Labour has only one bullet in their rifle, if they miss it will be too bad. I have a feeling they will miss. You get the feeling that most protesters are just going through the motions and their heart is not truly in it, I don't trust these labour leaders.
PoliticsRe: NLC Cannot Embark On Strike-national Industrial Court by mrjingles(m): 8:45pm On Jan 06, 2012
If only all this "righteous anger" is directed against Land Use Act, delay in PIB passage and fake federalism I would be a happy man.

That said I think anybody has a right to protest but they must also recognize other people's right NOT to protest. They have a right to oppose subsidy removal others also have a right to support it. Does not mean either party is stupid. My worry is that the pro subsidy camp presume their position is the only viable one-if you are not with us you are a demon. That sounds like what an extremist (terrorist?) would say. Lets respect each other's right to hold  different views. Insulting others shows you have no intellectual firepower to debate makes you position look dubious. I support subsidy removal btw.

Nlanders have a lot to learn from this debate. Nobody is insulting anyone's parents, tribe, religion, intelligence etc. We can disagree, have a violent exchange of opinions without insults.
