Were you able to pick a date finally?
The only date that came up was Jan 2020, hoping to get a closer date so I just let that go.

Thanks. I did not travel on the exact date due to some work related constraints but still travelled few months afterwards. Besides, I was single then but married now. Anyways, I hope for the best as i attend the interview.
Have you been able to schedule an interview?

yinksob002:
I finally picked up my passport today only to be asked to schedule a follow up interview. Honestly, I do not understand their criteria anymore given that i spent only two weeks out of the 2yrs earlier granted. I guess it's probably due to change in my marital status.

To those still waiting for a response from the embassy, I wish you all the best.
I also picked up today and was asked to schedule an interview. They want me to come with itemized bill and receipts for my childbirth on my first visa. I had renewed that visa and used it only once on a day road trip from Canada (less than 12 hours actually). The annoying thing for me is they had my passport for over 3 months, only to be told to schedule an appointment at the end. And no dates are available right now, the process can be better.

Thanks

Good Morning Nairalanders & Happy New Month.
Please I've a vital question to ask about Aunt Intl. passport. Her Head is covered with hijab on the picture in the Intl. Passport (because of her working visa to Oman she did that then about 2yrs back). Thus, she's embarking on another journey to Canada.
So her curiosity now is, will the embassy accept the Intl. Passport to stamp visa on it due to the hijab or not (so we can get another new passport for her again in alteration of the recent).

Thanks
Yes they will. But if she needs to take a passport photograph, then she can let her ears out.

What would you do if you must quit your job in Nigeria to leave for permanent residency in Canada? My salary is seven figures and my career prospects here in Nigeria are bright. I have less than 2 months to leave for Canada or I'll lose my permanent residency. I can't travel to Canada in between jobs; not only because the job itself requires my constant presence in Nigeria, I also won't be able to make the number of days in Canada required for residency renewal. I am extremely comfortable in Nigeria; maybe overcomfortable. No real idea how Canada will be.

what would you do in my shoes?

I'm a pretty smart person, so I have thought about this long and hard. I have probably also arrived at a temporary decision as well. However, I'd like to hear what other smart persons may have to say about this. I'd also like to hear what others have to say who have been in this situation. So, thanks in advance.

Mods, please help push to front page so I can get the best opinions.
I am exactly in the same shoes. So confused on what to do.

I've heard that people have taken new photos just before departing Nigeria and given to the immigration personnel at the point of signing their landing documents. That may help.
This is what we did

Na wa o. So which one should we use again?
Wherever you decide to use, just make sure you take a ruler to measure the photos and ensure they meet the specifications. We used Studio 24 and I took a ruler along. They had to reprint 5 sets of photos because it kept coming out wrong. We didn’t get any request for new photos, so it worked.

Let her ask her self if she has a strong family tie in Nigeria. Since she is single she has no family ties. No hubby and kids

2. How long has she been in the fashion designer work? ( Years of experience working as a fashion designer) 3 Years

3. Have she got any traveling history. Traveling history to Europe countries not Contonu or Togo o! angry angry(Which is a plus) No Travel History

How much does she make monthly and yearly in her business Average of 50k monthly

The VO will evaluate her with the above.

Hello House,

I have a friend that wants to apply to visit the US. She is 27, single and a fashion designer (business is not registered). I think her chances are low, but i would like to hear from other experienced people here.

Hallo my people, so my landing gist

I landed last week sunday. I flew two airlines because i used miles to purchase my ticket and i spent some time in London before heading to Canada. I flew Klm from Naija to London and then BA from London to Toronto.

I cargoed my things, which was 112kg, i cargoed with airfrance, and it cost me 108,000, paid the customs guys 20k for clearing my goods and 3,500 to purchase cartons and settle the guys who wrapped the things.
I cargoed my things cos i wanted to avoid dragging suitcases and ghana must bags. My things arrived after 3 days.
I landed in Toronto by 4:30pm, no queue at all, was asked the usual questions, they collected one of my COPR and welcomed me to Canada.
Could not process my SIN when i got in cos they dont work on Sunday.
AirFrance seems cheaper than going to the Cargo guys. Congratulations.

Hello there,

I'm in the same boat, I have received an email yesterday (more than 24hrs ago) from cic that I should sign on to my account to check my updated status.

I did, couldn't find any message, even from vfs text/email for anything. My app was online, submitted 12th March, biometrics 13th March. Please what could be happening? Any experience? Thanks all
My sister also saw the same account update without an actual update in her account. Her application was online, submitted 10th March, biometrics 12th March (but it reflected in her account on the 13th).

Update

Passport request received today, April 13, 2018.

Hello All, I feel I should write a synopsis of my journey to encourage someone out there.
My journey started last year when I got pr in September, 2017; I was immediately bombarded with confusion and fear. By February ending I had 2 phone interviews which progressed rather rapidly to job offers. Am accepting a part time job now so as to round up my course work b4 beginning at a fulltime position later in d year.
So wats my story’s point?
* be prepared to do your research on internet; use variety of resources
* remain focus on ur plan
* please please LinkedIn is ur best tool for getting a job; present n interact professionally on it
* stop being dismissive of people on public platforms n guard ur utterances; mind u, u never know wen u may need dat person
* everyone has a distinct n unique path in life so wat works for one may not work for u; invest in urself

Take care and gudluck in all your endeavours
Congratulations

I believe you should be able to link it immediately after the landing officer has initiated your PR card application when you land. I was planning to do mine immediately we arrived, but I forgot and it only crossed my mind about 6 weeks after we landed, when someone on this thread made a reference to it.

I would double check the information you're putting in, and get someone (maybe spouse) to also double check the information you put in. The slightest changes, misspelt names, etc will make it come up with no record found. Birth Places like Ilesa vs IleSHa or Ogbomoso vs OgbomoSHo, it needs to be consistent with what's been on your PR application.
A number of people have reported issues with linking. Someone sent an email to IRCC and got this response, so probably not everyone will be able to link it.

I went with the options in the attached screen shots.

For Given Names, use both your first and middle names, if this is what you have consistently used in your applications. All information must exactly match what you used in your applications. Date you became a PR is when you landed and got signed in at the airport.

For us it immediately pulled up both our PR card applications, which I then linked to the same cic account, one after the other.
I have tried all the options. How long after landing were you able to link it?
TravelRe: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by MrsBee: 6:21pm On Apr 11, 2018
A555:
Thanks. I will try the number. You really are a legend on this thread. smiley

Both our PR cards were linked to the same CIC account as you've described. Last week, one application was updated to approved and the card was delivered today. The other remains still as "Submitted" status.
I have tried to link severally but I keep seeing no applications found.

You could reach out to Bowen. I got my first job through them. Randstad, Executrade, TPD. There are lots of them. You could also attend the free resume and cover letter workshop organised by Alberta Works. They are quite brief and concise and might help in drafting your resume. I hope this helps. I wish you all the best!

quote author=Supagal post=66217904]Congrats @Nadina. Your story does inspire.
Dear seniors thanks for all insightful posts. It has guided me all the way.
Landed in Calgary about 2 weeks ago. Please Nadina, and other seniors that understand the Calgary system, can you please tell us the name of the recruitment agency you used to get your 1st job.
Went to centre for newcomers and the counsellor was more interested in selling his book to me.

Are there some other ones you will recommend for the Calgary area, particularly for finance professionals. Roberthalf, Kelly services?
Thanks.
Please where can we get free resume review service close to Brampton.

God bless you for this information ma'am. One question please...while entering the USA in the car, were you asked for a documentation specifially, a US visa? Thank you for the expected response.
Warm regards!
Amen. Yes you require a valid US visa. They would ask you questions like ‘the purpose of your trip’ ‘how long you will be spending’ etc

Good Day All,

We would be going to Ontario in March for short-landing.

We are also considering going across the border to Niagara falls/Bufallo NY during the weekend while we are there but my worry is how to return into Canada without a PR card.

Landed seniors , please help with your advise/suggestions.
Hello house, So my adventurous self went across the border for a road trip to the US yesterday. I went with my mum and a friend offered to drive us there. Did some shopping at Burlington in Amherst, NY. I was able to come back into Canada showing just my passport and COPR. No issues at all.
