It was always the case. I'm pretty sure if you check all my posts in this thread there a mention of our midfield every few posts from me. We have the worst midfield in the top5 maybe even 6 teams in the league.

I still think we are better team than city but they have far better players all over the park.

I won't even talk about Evans. No point. It's all on SAF's head. No way should Evans be playing in the middle ahead of jones or smalling.

If this doesn't give SAF a wakeup call, nothing will. I await the response.

Onwards and upwards for united. Come on!

DDG
Smalling
Rio
Evans
Evra
Nani
Fletcher
Anderson
Young
Rooney
Welbeck

Not really happy with that lineup personally. Was hoping Vidic would make it.

I'm assuming you meant galaxy tab 10.1. All pretty good but the iPad2 is currently the best tablet out there. Followed by the galaxy tab then blackberry playbook.

Man utd V Bayern munich. 1999CL final.

Man utd complete the final leg of a historic treble by scoring 2 goals in as many minutes to beat the german side after being 1-0 down for most of the match. Late goals by Sheringham and Solskjaer added the CL trophy to the premier league and FA cup already won. Incredible comeback.

For the first time ever. I am NOT looking forward to the Manchester derby. And again, The main issue for me is the midfield. This weak middle that doesnt give us enough creativity going forward and little protection at the back. Timid in the tackle and loose with possession. How I wish we could even get double figures in goals from Anderson, Carrick,Fletch,Cleverley,Giggs. ( Even combined!).

Will be good to have Rio and Vidic back. Im guessing Smalling for RB?

PS - Im starting to feel sorry for Berbatov.

Was DK right about Rio? Only watched the game in patches but every time i glanced at the screen he seemed to be either getting turned inside out or giving away free-kicks in dangerous positions.
He's still a top defender but its clear he's past his best and the injuries are taking their toll on him given his age.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Premier League Champions 2010/11 by MrTA(m): 3:57pm On Oct 15, 2011
Poor match overall, particularly the first half.

Happy with the point because really Liverpool should have won it. They were better but not by much. We were just so poor and lacked any imagination.

A big no to Jones in the midfield. I thought he was poor there, kept losing his man he was supposed to be marking (C.Adam) and was caught ahead of the play way too many times. people think his forward forays while playing rightback or centreback mean he'll play midfield easily. They are completely wrong. he also had no composure on the ball. He needs to play in defense and stay there.

Happy with DDG's performance. Some good saves and looked confident in his general play.

I dont want to say terrible and disrespectful things about Ryan Giggs today so I will not comment on him.

Love Hernandez. The guy is probably the liveliest striker in the box in the world.

Rio looked weak to me and im starting to get worried about him.

I really hope Rooney gets his head right and forgets about the suspensions and family issues. We really need him at his best for the rest of the season.

Next up is the CL but that City match is a scary proposition right now.

Vidic in the Serbia squad for their international and apparently he's going to start.

Good news for us.

RuuDie:
Well, the gaffer knows best. . . . .but if it were up to me and I have to keep Ando in the side, he's gonna be my DM. He is gonna sit, as much as possible, in front of the back and try to win back those balls or break up opposition attacks. He has the verve, the agressive streak which is more suited to that role than a benignant looking Carrick.
And if he still can't cut it. . . . . . .I swear he is joining his brother Bebe wherever he is at! angry
No Ando cannot "sit", one of his main strengths is carrying the ball from midfield to attack so you cannot expect him to play a destroyer or deep lying playmaker, would not suit him at all. He's best as a box to box type midfielder.

Ive always felt the defensive weakness of late is caused by out midfield and nothing has changed my view on that.

There is no report to even suggest Cleverley/Vidic/Smalling are even over their injuries before we even go into first team training.I would be more than shocked if we see 2 of them in the starting lineup.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Premier League Champions 2010/11 by MrTA(m): 2:21pm On Oct 05, 2011
 De Gea

Jones        Rio         Evans         Evra

      Carrick             Anderson

   Nani                Giggs               Young

                      Rooney

Is another possibility. Unlikely Cleverley will be ready to play such a highly charged encounter and Fletcher is still suffering from AIDS/HIV virus.
Vidic also has no chance of playing this as his comeback game. We dont have a choice but to use Evans there depending how well Smalling is doing fitness wise. Anfield is not somewhere we play well recently so fingers crossed really.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Premier League Champions 2010/11 by MrTA(m): 1:12pm On Oct 04, 2011
That remains to be seen. They have to prove it over the course of a season ( or most of it) not 2/3 games to be lauded as such really.

 De Gea

Jones        Rio         Vida          Evra

Cleverley        Carrick             Anderson

   Nani                                     Young

                      Rooney
This is the lineup I would have gone with, but there is no chance of Baba going with this lineup. mainly because he'll believe we can stretch the Liverpool defense with either Hernandez or Welbeck playing with Rooney. Also Baba overrates our midfield and thinks we can win a midfield battle with anyone in the top 5 teams in the league. He will play 2 in midfield when the reality is that we have the worst central midfield in the top 5 teams.

On the day the two teams were dire, but they have more talent than united.
Couldnt careless who has more talent. its not always the team will the most talent that wins games. I prefer we have a better team.

Somewhere in between lies the truth as I definitely do not agree that there's nothing wrong with the squad. The midfield is still our huge weakness which is spreading that weakness to our defense. There is simply no strength in that midfield and i dont mean just defensively. its a major issue which Ive always said and I expect we will not even make the semis of the CL this season. The league is still touch and go.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Premier League Champions 2010/11 by MrTA(m): 11:32am On Sep 28, 2011
Nothing De Gea would have done about yesterday's weakness in defense. That job was Ferdinand's. Rio is supposed to organise that defense no De Gea, no amount of screaming in tongues from DDG will change that.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Premier League Champions 2010/11 by MrTA(m): 9:05am On Sep 28, 2011
Rio is still an important player for us, no doubt. The problem is his powers are waning because at his age when you dont play consistently( mainly due to injuries) it starts to tell on your sharpness. Which is pretty much what he's suffering from right now. He cannot rely on his pace and youthful energy to get him back on form after a fractured run of appearances. Most of us would have been surprised if he played today if everyone was fit, unlikely Baba uses his 2 games in a row these days and he must surely be a doubt for this weekend. This is part of the reason Smalling and Jones were bought.

Overall we were defensively very poor in the Basel match and the signs of this defensive softness has been showing its face for some time now.

It still stems for the midfield which offers no protection to the back 4. Also the injuries in defense hasnt helped in terms of getting them playing consistently and challenging for places because right now we're playing any defender who is fit and available to play.

This really needed to be address in the summer with the right midfield signing(s) but it wasnt done and now we're relying on Cleverly and Anderson to lead this team. Personally, Im not convinced they are good enough but time will tell.
