True that. The market in Ibadan is big enough to accomodate the malls and also the open markets. The population in Ibadan is enough to sustain the growth and expansion of all those chains of retail marketing; people from southwest states farther inland do come shop in Ibadan anyways. What I fear is if the market women in places like Agbeni, Oje, Beere and co won't suffer because of this upward trend in retail mall business. I used to love going to those open markets as a kid and see my Mom or Dad haggling over the price of whatnot.

I've never being to any of those malls in Ibadan, but I sure would love to visit. It will be a welcome change in the way business is being done and also cater to the needs of the upwardly mobile Ibadan residents.

Mjseun: Thank you very much MsNas, I'm planning to book my flight to Gainesville when I get to Atlanta. Direct flight is too expensive so wanna break it, still it's over #400k but still prefer it to paying the huge direct flight for 650k upward. Also opting for the breaking in booking incase there's a delay during departure.. so I won't miss the already paid flight from Atlanta to Gainesville.

I know it's peak period so I don't have option.

Yeah, you could book at the ATL airport when you get there. You might even opt for the early morning flight. Its always kinds cheaper. I paid for my connecting flight from IAD to LIT from Nigeria but I missed the flight. I ended up paying another airfare the next morning but they waived my baggage fees.

An alternative is to book the connecting flight for the next morning. Make sure you have at least 5hours to clear customs and immigration. Then you'll be fine. Its peak period and prices might be high for OTC booking

Did I say any prepaid network provider charged me more than their offer? I was having issues downgrading my network services on T-Mobile and they're being adamant.

And yes, some postpaid network providers will charge you crazily. Ask people who use Sprint. And yeah, so far.... the three I mentioned are one of the cheapest.

Nope, you don't need a transit visa if you're flying through Holland. Nobody is going to ask for it or disturb you. You're not going to leave the airport anyways.

As I said already. You have reputable school there. Just sell yourself to the VO. As per the finances aspect, are you absolutely positive you can foot the bills out there? Did you get funding of any kind? Are you working right now in Nigeria? If yes, to the working aspect, then I suggest you take your own statement of account to the embassy along with your mom's. And don't fail to mention to the VO that your wife is also gainfully employed by the Nigerian Police.

The Visa Officer might want to ask you why your mom is co-sponsor. Just tell him/her that the bills are a bit high and that the landed property left by your late Dad(in which you have a share of) is being held in trust by your mom. So, technically, its still your money. I doubt if you're gonna be having too much problems at the embassy though. You have almost everything pat down.

PS: PRAY really hard. God is the Ultimate decider in any visa case.

Is the account which you're using its statement domiciled in Nigeria or the UK? If its in any of the Nigerian banks out there in Nigeria, then you should have no problems of home ties. Worst case scenario, the VO will ask you why your Dad is not sponsoring you and you can explain politely about the situation. There's no way a VO will find out if the owner of the account is in Nigeria or even if he/she holds dual citizenship.

If not, try find an account domiciled in Nigeria.

Try get a waiver letter at all costs. It costs them next to nothing to give it out. They just need to type it out address it to the embassy. You still have time (like a week) to get it. Just let the International Office know that the waiver letter can affect your chances of getting a visa or not and they should cooperate.

For you to get GRE and TOEFL waiver at Boston University and still get admitted into the program is a good thing; BU is one of the highly ranked colleges out there. You're obviously really smart and I don't think you should have any problem convincing the VO that you're a genuine student. Just get the waiver letter to be on a safe mode.

No, I don't think you should have any problem since you are not planning on going for your visa interview. Reason is, the information you entered on your DS-160 actually goes on the record and live across all US visa agencies servers AFTER you have been interviewed. You can fill out as many DS-160s as possible. It doesn't matter until you're interviewed.

You'll be fine. But try as much as possible to supply accurate info next time.

If your phone is unlocked, then it should work. SIM cards costs next to nothing anyways. You get yours or someone gives you his, you still have to pay for the activation (except your friend has activated it already).

For Boss Revolution, go to www.bossrevolution.com and just follow instructions. You need to have a working number before you can load Boss Revolution tho. It will ask for your number. So make sure your phone works before attempting to buy Boss Revolution. After you load up, go to Google App Store and download the Boss Revolution App. It will give you an extra $1 worth of call credit for downloading the app. That way, it will save you the stress of using the access number before you can connect International. Just dial the International number preceded by the international calling code of the country you're calling in the dial-pad of the app and it connects you directly. No stress.

PS: You can also buy Boss Revolution cards in the stores.

I'd advise you to get StraightTalk, SimpleMobile or MetroPCS. They're the cheapest oo. AT&T is also cheap. But sometimes they get crazy. You can subscribe for StraightTalk or SimpleMobile every month with as low as $30.

Stay away from SPRINT!!! Its not prepaid but postpaid. They will even allow you to call international, but when the bill comes at the end of the month, you will nearly pee your pants. If you're like me who keeps my phone inside the back pockets of my pants and allows the phone to butt-dial sometimes, you're in soup. Verizon and T-Mobile ain't no better. I wanted to downgrade my monthly payment with T-Mobile because I rarely use my data, wifi is in abundance everywhere, these yeye people no gree. Okay o, lemme downgrade into another thing, no luck. And their 4GLTE will be sucking my 4G allowance anyhow sef.

StraightTalk rides on AT&T network; but its cheaper than AT&T (an AT&T has one of the best coverage in America). SimpleMobile and MetroPCS rides on T-Mobile Network, but they're cheaper than T-Mobile. It even allows you to text international for free. T-Mobile no dey gree me text international.

For International calling cards, don't go near Rebtel. They're thieves. Use Boss Revolution. Its cheaper. Don't blame me, I'm a broke college girl

Sorry about your ordeal. Two lessons to be learned there.
1. Never ever fly ARIK airlines if you wanna fly international. They will do all sorts of monkey business that might eventually cause you to be delayed or even miss your flight entirely. This is like the 3rd time I'm hearing about these kinds of rubbish about them
2. If possible, try and limit the number of stop-overs next time you travel international. They tend to disorientate people (at least, I can speak for myself) and also a ton of things could go wrong. That was how Royal Air Maroc left fideliajohn's baggage in Casablanca for like a month and they wanted to pay her a pittance ($300) for the bag when they thought the bag was lost.

About the deferral issue, do not defer your admission except you plan on returning to Nigeria. Once you defer your admission and you are not enrolled in college, then you have to return to your home country. Or else, you will infringe on the conditions of your F1 visa. Deferment without leaving the country will make you run afoul of the laws and getting your I-20 and SEVIS records reinstated is gonna be like getting a camel to pass through an eye of a needle.

What you can do is set up a payment plan. Some schools can allow you pay 40-50% upfront and then pay the rest before you register for the next semester. Some schools might not even ask you to pay anything before you start class, but you must pay it before finals. I think one Naija guy did that. I don't remember.
