exxy: is it compulsory a student must inform school about visa approval ?They know. Even if you don't tell them |
Tekecoms1: You got me laughing with your words, its not as if i am scared o bro but just thinking i could bypass the GRE process tingy. You shouldn't he thinking about bypassing GRE if you're serious about getting a grad degree and eventually making it out here. Trust me, GRE us the least of your issues. The real challenge is when you take classes in school. Some of went the TOEFL, GRE, WES route but it paid in the end. So just zero your mind and do it. |
exxy: what is the difference between winter and spring ?Winter starts in December, and is super cold. Spring starts in around April ish and I'd the best weather. Not too hot or cold. As per semesters, Winter Semester or Spring semester typically starts in January. |
Tekecoms1: Please is there anyone in this forum that has the list of schools that doesnt require a GRE for admitting a Graduate student in engineering, telecommunication? There is no credible graduate school that will accept you into their program for such a competitive and hard major like that without GRE. Note that I said credible graduate school. You can get admitted to some C-rated grad school, but what will it profit you to come to America and spend your hard earned money at a C-rated college for a grad degree? Bear in mind that without GRE, your chances of getting funding are extremely limited, unless you're prepared to pay for 2-3years of grad school from your pocket though. My advisor and graduate Coordinator won't even look at your application if it's not preceded with a GRE score. Getting a visa at the embassy without GRE is also another issue. Why are you running away from GRE though? |
Feexo: Zee & Streetmic, thanks a bunch! I actually thought you needed SSN to get driver's license though. To get a Drivers' License, you need to pass the written and road test. Before you can sit for the written test, you need to have a VALID I-20 and Passport. It will be verified before you can take the test. After you pass that, a road test will be scheduled... typically a month after you pass the exam (the one month waiting period may be waived of you have a valid license from your country). You can't get a DL if your I-20 isn't valid. |
Dot1: To my bosses, Bigfrancis21, Imperiouxx. , MsNas, Walspring and Ojap. Pls I have some I want u guys to help me look into. Can I pm u? ThanksSure. Send me a PM. |
Stewee: Ah ah, Aunty Nas are you in FL?Lool, No. I live in one village in Arkansas But I have a friend who lives in Tallahassee (goes to The Florida State University) and he always gist me about the unbelievable weather. Temps are in the upper 90s these days and it's not uncommon for it to rise to 120!! ![]() |
Tekecoms1: Pls which is better between the paper based GRE and the computer based GRE?What menial jobs do you wanna do here that's gonna pay you well enough in America? FYI, In case you don't know; menial jobs here pay you minimum wage. If you're lucky enough to pay rent out of it, to pay bills and feed from it sure won't be easy if not impossible. Not to talk of the fact that you're restricted to 20hours of work as an International. Except you plan to elope and work under-the-table jobs which is even worse than working normal hours. They will owe you salary and won't pay and you cant go to the police cos you're illegal. I can go on and on. You better re-examine your reasons of wanting to come to America. If its to get an education, get a good job after (after paying your dues), then you're on the right track. If it's to live the live you see Americans live on TV (which is a lie BTW), or post pictures on facebook as you've seen your friends do, drive the fastest cars and so on within a short period if time? Please do not come to America cos you will be greatly dissapointed. |
Marotzke: off all the things he wrote, it was only a typographical error that you picked up. what ever happened to rationality, comprehension and robust debate? Are you okay? Was I dissing him? Please stay in your lane oo. ![]() |
manck: .omisore did not kill bola ige,@bolded Aliba ko, Alibaba ni ![]() |
osahons9: Seriously? Are you in texas? because that's the only place that comes to mind that usually experience such heatwave. It's hotter in Florida |
While in high school in Nigeria. We were writing WAEC and you know they usually give extra white sheet to do your construction in. Two of my friends seated beside me didn't know the construction part so I collected their sheets and did it for them. When I wanted to do my own, I went blank. My cramming had wiped away because I posted everything I crammed into their own work. I couldn't cry And I couldn't ask for their sheets back. Never again |
masseratti: Op please stop all this your theories, whit man will not call himself what you call him,in yoruba land white men were not called oyinbo alone, eebo was also used to called them,i don't think it's a borrowed language from the Igbos given the fact that we don't have any recorded contact before the 18th century.Eebo is a shirt form of Oyinbo to the Yorubas. The thing is elder people are the ones who use it. Younger people rarely do. |
ajoguegbe: What's the origin of Oga is it Igbo or Yoruba?Oga is a Yoruba word. It means Boss |
domex007: Hello good people,Yes it is. Smoothkool differed his admission twice cos his visa was refused. |
kennyzita: thanks so much everyone.I'm doing good, Ma'am. Congrats again As per vaccinations goes, you don't need to show proof of Vaccination at the POE but you will be required to show it in school. Or the school will tell you to do it on campus. I'd advise you to get them done in Nigeria as its dirt cheap in Nigeria. My school charged me almost $250 for the immunizations I did on campus. Its cheaper outside of school but you have to set up an appointment and they're always backed up a lot. So do the MMR and Rubella thingy in Nigeria, please. All the best. Lemme know if I can help in any other regard. |
Idazbawz: sure i am... how many kids now?Did I tell you I was pregnant? Solo Makinde! |
laura2014: Visa denied Yesterday. I was so sad and cried that I couldn't even visit Nairaland.I honestly have read your transcript and I don't know why you keep getting denied. You have a good school. Good course. Your answers were good enough. Is there something you're omitting? Or probably you should change your sponsor to another person (i.e Dad or Mom) and try get funding from the school. That sure helps a lot. Pele ![]() PS: Pray a lot too. It never hurts anything. |
kennyzita: Hi guys, Just got my visa at Lagos embassy today, between 7:55am and 8:00am.Congrats, Fellow LAUTECH Alumni. Enjoy your stay in the United States! ![]() |
decreamaster: the person i asked to help me pay for sevis did not pay itWhen is your interview? If you still have like 2 or three days to spare, I will advise you to go pay the money at Seme Border. And go to the embassy for your Interview. Tell them you've paid, chances are that your ticket would have reflected on their system . Worst case scenario, they will tell you to come back for your interview. You risk losing your visa fee if you've cancelled before. Even if you haven't getting a date in August is a pain, you might miss resumption. |
CharmO1: you are quite asinine to even come back and quote me again. If this forum had been called Yorubaland or O'odualand, I'd have stayed far away from it but it's Nairaland. And the creator of the forum is Yoruba, yes but other tribes are acknowledged here officially. If someone creates a thread about his tribe and you don't like what he wrote about his own tribe, don't post insults. Read and walk away. It's sheer and utter 5tupidity to insult a tribe on a thread that has not insulted your tribe.I will try my hardest not to insult you babe. Where the heck did I insult any tribe? If you open any damned thread or whatever on the www, you have no effing right to tell anybody not to talk or comment on any thread. What are we? Cuba? Is this North Korea? Freedom of speech my dear. The same way your people won't fail to post derogatory pictures of Ibadan (BTW, I'm from there), whenever anything about the city comes up is the same people are gonna say whatever they like on any thread they want. You DO NOT control anybody's right to speech. Saying non-Igbos should not comment is going just a tad too far. Lemme ask you, why didn't go on other threads where your fellow Igbos are busy thrashing and belittling other cultures and tribes and order them to be civil and stop it? Or you're not aware that Igbos insult Yorubas a lot on this forum? If you don't, I suggest you go on the culture and Politics section and have a look. You people aren't exactly saints in that regards anyways. So your arguments holds no water, Ma'am. And yeah, i'm gonna quote you as long as I have the time and energy. You deffo can't stop me from doing so. PS: It will have been better to just call me Stupiddd; instead of using Asinine. Stop trying to act like the intellectual you aren't. And I will give you just that one transgression. If you try it again, I won't be so nice ![]() |
CharmO1: My dear, I won't even bother exchanging words with you as I'm a very busy person. My statement still stands. Any Non-Igbo person posting on this thread is looking for trouble. Full stop.I can see you're a very busy person. And I still say it, if you don't want non Igbos here, then I guess the thread shouldn't be on Nairaland, seeing as Nairaland is owned by a Yoruba guy. TF are you on about? Rubbish! |
stevecrun: They be God?They try to pass themselves off as gods on NL. You dare not challenge their authority |
imperiouxx: I dissed the owner of nairaland and some maggots. You know that Nairaland is Animal Farm All members and the owners are equal but some are more equal than the others Nairaland na Zaire, and the mods and Seun na Sese Seko Mobutu. You dare not say a word of spite against them or else na jail or execution straight ![]() |
imperiouxx: https://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/rolleye/rolleye0012.gif ♫♪♫ Mobo Lowo WonWetin be your crime sef? Why did the Lord of the Manor; Cruela de Vil; Napoleon throw my love in Jail? ![]() |

sapienman: Thank you very much Francis!I don't think you need any declaration of age o. I got the passport I currently hold now at the Festac Office and I was just told to fill some form and fill my Bio-Data on it. No other documents was asked. I didn't even take my old passport along because it was not the e-passport. To be on the safer side sha, if you have your birth certificate, that should suffice. It took me 3 hours to get it done. |
winbyforce: More like 70-80% bro! Please don't even quote JP Clark! You started living in Ibadan when? '08? I was BORN there and I lived there full-time for 16 years. 70-80% of which people? So just 20-30% of the rest of the Ibadan populace live in Alakia, Samonda, Old Bodija, New Bodija, Apata, Ring Road, Oke-Ado, Oluyole Estate and Extension, Gbagi, Iyana Church, Airport, NNPC, Mokola, Sango, Bashorun, Agodi-Gate, Iwo -Road, Idi-Ape, Odo-Ona, Ologuneru, Eleyele? I can go on and on. How many places have you been to in Ibadan? How many people do you know in Ibadan? Please set your sentiments asides and don't talk what you don't know. I respect you more than that. |

? By the way in response to someone's words, USA does not put an end to one's sufferings but i will say that the chances of making it in USA is far possibly higher than wasting away in naija and be saying God will do it as if our parents did not pray the same prayer. I ld rather do menial jobs in yankee and get well paid than stay in naija doing a white collar job and paid a rubbish wage where a stupid boss will be claiming lordship over my live...
