juntod: Exactly. They take a comprehensive exam. In some schools, the exam could be oral just like oral defence of thesis.
Oh Okay, Thanks smiley

Dot1: MEng is for those that want to be technically sound. It is more technically-based. Thatz why dey do more practicals & spend more time doing internship. No thesis for dem also.
I kinda had an idea about the technicality aspect. I was just curious about why those that bagged a M.Eng can't proceed through the PhD route. Lol. I guess most people don't know though. I'm pretty much sure my friend has no clue smiley

juntod: MEng is more professional and its usually course based. No intensive research. They don't do thesis.
Figures. So if they're not required to write a thesis of any kind, what do they do to earn their degree at the end of the day? Internship of some sort? or just the coursework they've taken over the course of their program is enough? My room-mate's Japanese friend just graduated in the same department as her. Although, i don't know if he wrote a thesis, I know he told me he's taking a kind of comprehensive exam that covers all the courses he took over the 4 semesters of this masters. Does that sound like M.Eng?

Dot1: Good point. Also with MS u can proceed to do ur PhD, but not with M.Eng
Really? M.Eng degree holders can't do PhD? Never knew. Do you know why please?

slimmy05: That's August for crying out loud, if you are good traveller you would know people travel a lot during august and December so flight fare are always on the high side. Why i saif d bok ahead its somehow cheap
You said a week. That was what I quoted. I know August is busy. July is actually the busiest anyways. But If you're an aspiring student and you got your visa around that time, or you have to leave for somewhere around July or August and you had no prior plans to that effect before tgen. Would you stay back and wait till October to travel just because fare prices are too high? No na, you gotta make do. Not everybody's school resumes early and not everybody gets their visa early.

If you're a frequent flyer like me, you should also know that flight prices drop dramatically like two days to the intended travel day. But nit many people wanna risk it as you might not be lucky enough to take advantage of the empty seats and end up losing your travel date.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by MsNas(f): 9:47pm On Jul 17, 2014
slimmy05: you cannot book for flight a week rontour travel and expect it to be cheap. Rijo got a good price because he booked ahead. Right now Qatar is still the cheapest. I can't access the sites now as on too many pages on my phone and the app is not responding
Slimmy-Of-Life! grin The date he checked is a month ahead oo. Not a week grin grin Abi shey we don reach August and I'm still in July ni? cry

Though, those prices fear me too sha. I booked less than 3days to leave, that was why I paid almost $4,000. But a month to go and those prices? Those airlines must be cray cray!

TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by MsNas(f): 8:42pm On Jul 17, 2014
slimmy05: You should be the one to know. Now she described why she chose KLM cos of directly flight and that wasntnher initi choice.

We have our different taste. The time I first time I flew with Arik air, it was business class from PH to Lagos and Lagos back to PH courtesy Saipem contracting, during my final interview. The flight was very exceptional compared the flew the economy book ahead aero, the reception and in house treatment was wacky.

I would still fly Emirates or Qatar anytime( I love adventure and sight seeing), its a touch of class. I don't need to taste all airline to handpick my favourite.

If you have any other airline with better airfare and good reception it won't hurt if you share with the house. I only responded to the question you asked olumide. But get it straight, etihad, British airways and KLM are no way near cheap. The airline you would get better reception and considerate air far is still Qatar and Emirates. I stand to be corrected with proofs.
I chose Etihad cos it was a better version of Emirates. Its more expensive than Emirates but the stop time at Abu-Dhabi was shorter (2hours) than that of Emirates. When I lost my seat, the next area we looked was towards Lufthansa and KLM Royal Dutch. I has the option of flying with Qatar as I saw tickets way cheaper with them (my KLM ticket was more than times two of the asking price for Qatar)

My Dad and Uncle flat out disagreed because of the Schengen visa issue. Plus the trip was more than 30hours oo. Why would I wanna put myself through that kind of trauma? If they don't allow me pass in Barcelona or Newcastle nko? grin

Qatar is very good. But certainly not among the big Fishes. That's a fact.
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by MsNas(f): 8:34pm On Jul 17, 2014
slimmy05: How does it have more quality than Qatar?

slimmy05: Travelling is just getting cheap flight, the adventure, the stops, the food and drinks. I want to see that Qatar airport.

I will still choose Qatar or Emirates anytime. We still have Iberia airline, arik angry
Slimmy05, you're an Mgbeke grin Qatar Airport isn't even among the top 10 airports in the world grin

1. Changi Airport, Singapore.
2. Incheon International Airport,South Korea
3. Munich Airport, Germany
4. Hong Kong International Airport
5. Schipol Airport, Amsterdam
6. Haneda International Airport,Tokyo, Japan
7. Beijing Capital Airport, China.
8. Zurich Airport, Switzerland
9. Vancouver Airport, Canada
10. Heathrow Airport, London, UK

Oya, thank me. cheesy Still waiting for that thing oo.

slimmy05: Graviton, who told you KLM is cheap. Freaking expensive.

If you read MsNas post you would see where she outlined she would fly Emirates or Etihad if she wasn't flying direct. A lot of people just want to enjoy the adventure. I don't like direct flight and I don't intend booking direct flight.

I prefer the stops and experience a little. It adds to travelling experience. I wouldn't mind Qatar airline from Lagos to Doha to Barcelona to US kiss
After the 10hour ordeal I had at Amsterdam Schipol, if not for the return ticket I have with KLM I won't consider not flying direct. Jesus!! I just kept waiting and waiting for my connecting flight to Washington, sotay I sleep almost missed my flight. By the time I reached the US I was so disoriented and didn't even know the time nor date. Never again oo. I been dey dream to fly Etihad before dem cancel my seat cos of overbooking angry, come go jam that uber expensive KLM angry

Direct is the way to go for me. Close my eyes in America, open it in Naija. 13hours, No stories cheesy
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by MsNas(f): 5:31pm On Jul 17, 2014
Graviton2: Look, follow the train of conversation before you reply, Zeezahbee.

He complained about the price, and I provided a cheaper option — might not necessarily be better but it was a cheaper option because affordability was the issue.

I also provided other options to rival Qatar in quality — Are you saying Qatar is better than KLM or British Airways?
I flew KLM and fucckkk! It was expensive. But i would never trade it for anything else. Everything was damn good. The Only other airlines I would ever fly if I wasn't flying direct is Etihad and Emirates. The three stopovers Qatar always have is a tad too much for me. Royal Air Maroc is a no no, I'd rather fly Arik(its direct and they treat people better on their international flight, most times) But to each their own oo. cheesy

temi4fash: Good morning house

Pls house, Is university of florida an ivy league school because these their admission requirement na die oo...

315 is the average score for students admitted to the school for Msc...

Dats scary..

Pls, How do i find my level because the schools am seeing today dai make me look like olodo with dis their admission requirement....

Pls what is the difference btw Msc and MEng?? which is better in the two in the Nigerian context.

Thanks in advance.
No, University of Florida isn't Ivy League. Most of the Ivy League schools are concentrated in New England. But the University is a competitive school to get in based on the sheer volume of applications they receive yearly. Also you should take into account the location of the school and also its reputation. As per their admission processing, You should know that Mechanical Engineering is a competitive course. Most of the time, all the student in the masters program are always on tuition waiver (at least for the A-rated schools)

My room-mate is a Mechanical Engineering student and while me as an IT student have like 18 students in my class(90% Indians), they are just 3-4 in their class. Lol cheesy. And their admission requirements is also set higher than the baseline admission requirements set by the graduate college. My advise to you is that while you apply to The University of Florida, try and apply to some B-ranked schools too as a safety net in case its doesn't pan out with UofF.

Msc Mechanical Engineering and MEng Mechanical Engineering: I really don't think there's much of a difference, except for the fast that maybe with the Msc route, you don get to concentrate too much on the architecture of Mechanical Engineering but rather the science that is used for the application of the course. MEng, most likely is gonna be much more technical than the Msc, as you're almost assured of doing all the grime work associated with the course.

I know in Naija it means literally nothing though. I graduated with a B.Tech Pure and Applied Physics just because I went to a University of Technology and spent 5 years doing it. It doesn't mean I'm better than those people who spent 4 years doing the same course. I definitely know employers of labor don't care. smiley
