The same constitution that gives you right to a peaceful protest, also gives the government power to step in when the protest is violating other people's right and turning into anarchy.

The music is changing sharply starting from tomorrow. President Buhari is never known for too much talking. Hoodlums attacking police stations and stealing service rifles should attempt it again, starting from tommorow and let's see how it will end.

EducationRe: IPPIS: Government Can’t Use ASUU Platform To Pay Us — University Workers by MT: 9:12am On Oct 13, 2020
Iolo:
Based on my readings, yes it will reduce in a nutshell but mostly because ASUU has gotten its way and negotiated certain favorable terms IPPIS is no longer recognizing. In some instances, obtaining these terms makes no sense in the first instance, in other cases they are legitimate issues that I believe can be fixed on the platform as other agencies have been using it long before now.

1. A number of universities have bargained PAYE tax reliefs with their state governments. IPPIS deducts according to the accepted standard by law.

2. Some allowances being received by them are not captured by IPPIS.

3. IPPIS makes certain deductions like NHF, meaning take home pay is lower across board.

4. They won’t acknowledge this but some of them work multiple jobs with multiple salaries. IPPIS prevents this using BVN.

You’re caught up now.
This a simple case. Document all the changes you want to effect in IPPIS, send it to the company in charge of the software design. Get a feedback from the company how long it will take to implement the changes. If the software was well architected (i.e not tightly coupled using technical term), making changes will be easy. FG will rightly not accept any payment platforms from any of the union. It's unrealistic
PoliticsRe: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Visits Buhari In Aso Rock by MT: 2:24pm On Oct 12, 2020
Please no one should insult Okonjo Iweala. She is a sound professional who understands her trade. She earns my respect when she told former President Jonathan to save for the rainy day which he didn't do. She later told the world that she advised him but the president lacked political will.

Parents should attempt to mould their children, especially girls, after her. The world has obviously opened up for her.

Really! Do they?
What does it mean to generate money?

How do they generate money?

You mean that even though statutorily and by government edict people GO AND PAY tax to FIRS means that they generating money?

NNPC had declared loss in the past 15 years and you call that generating money. How many oil well does NNPC have? Which of their subsidiaries are into prospecting for oil? Is the work not done by the multinationals like Mobil, Shell...

When a student comes into a UNIVERSITY with zero knowledge of Engineering, Medicine and Accounting and leaves after 4-5 years with enough knowledge to apply for employment: you call that no productivity?

Rephrase please!

shadeyinka:
You claim IPPIS is to cure them of corruption. Why is it not the same treatment of NNPC and FIRS?

Food for thought!
Because they self generate their own revenue. Universities rely on handouts from the FG, so the FG has the right to determine how the payment will be made.He who plays the Piper dictates the tune. Maybe if you have had one scientific breakthrough that Nigeria can export to the world and generate hard currencies, maybe your case will be like that of the NNPC you mentioned.

is the tax paid after ASUU members receive salaries or the tax is paid before they get their salaries? Who is in charge of the tax deductions? Do ASUU members work in the bursaries or account sections of universities? Does ASUU employ or are they human resources officers? Read between the lines.
You should read between the lines. Universities have been taking advantage of the FG by cheating FG out of taxes. Now the FG wants to fully be in charge of payment that will ensure proper taxes are paid, you say no. If you have any grievances with the software, be on board and address the grey areas. IPPIS has come to stay
EducationRe: FG Blackmailing University Workers Into Enrolling On IPPIS –ASUU by MT: 8:39am On Oct 12, 2020
Don't be fooled. ASUU is using students as smokescreen. They are simply appealing to the emotional side of parents and students. They are quite corrupt. Do you realize that apart from collecting salaries in multiple places, they have not been paying commensurate taxes over the years. In a saner clime, they will be forced to pay into FG coffers all the outstanding taxes they have evaded. ASUU is fighting for their selfish interest!!Not only should SARS be ended, #EndASUU should also be trending.

Everyone online is a giant, while offline they are mostly nonentities

We have loads of scholars winning fellowships in top ranked institutions globally, but a certain e-warrior feels they are inferior in his infinitesimal mind.
A team of academics built a formidable software in record time for the FG to deploy to solve the current impasse. A solution to the FG at no extra cost than the IPPIS that attracts a subscription from soft alliance, a company owned by Tinubu..
When you will take your expertise to the IPPIS office to help them tweak the software to accommodate the peculiarities causing labour crisis in the Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education.?

You have no moral standing to lecture anyone on self worth.. Stand down..
Cry me a river, IPPIS has come to stay. Someone lacking in IT expertise attesting to how formidable a software is. Claiming to know so much, while so empty. Must you die working for FG ?. If you feel the FG is treating you poorly, resign. If you are as sound as you claim, pick up a job abroad or anywhere else and relocate. No employee can dictate how employer will pay him or her. It reeks of total foolishness and ignorance.

And the labour crisis you were referring to was a figment of your own imagination. You paper tigers have lost relevance, public sympathy and values. You are messing up with the wrong president. Most of you will soon be in the labour market. Don't register with IPPIS and be grandstanding, then let us see how it plays out and ends for you.

Agreed. Just saying that people here have exaggerated opinion about them. They are just on a little higher pedestal than Nigeria Civil servant. Trust me. People attempt to look for excuses on the applicant when it's the ECO that obviously made a mistake. Civil servants seem to have almost the same mindset anywhere. There are things I cant divulge here that i have first hand information about but thinking these people are just next to Angel is far from the truth. For visa applicant, do your best and leave the rest. Life doesnt end when you are refused a visa. My 2cent

They do because they live and work in the same country and have seen thousands if not millions of applications.

Its down to the applicant to details the nature of his or her business.
I am sorry but I beg to differ. They make their decisions in their country and most of them just got the awareness of Nigeria through theory and not practical experience. They are civil servants who sometimes don't care . I have been to the Home office many times and people will be shocked the quality of people that make decisions on their cases - most of them look so tattered and unkempt. Sometimes they are just NOT bothered. They make mistakes. I laugh when i see people attempting to pin the issue on the applicant most times. These guys are NOT perfect either as people may seem to make it look here.

I feel getting visa is like going to court to argue your case. No size fits all. Every Mallam with his own kettle. Just present your case the best you can, don't be desperate about it, block all the loopholes and be ready for a "fight", if need be. Don't just roll over. It is stressful to apply for visa in Nigeria with the amount of documents to submit, and it is never like that in other parts of the world. Nigeria needs to get better so that when they throw us free visa, we will even ignore them.

When next the FG is advertising, apply for the post of a professor, and make sure you are harmed with the necessary publications in reputable international journals as expected.

Some of you simply use the anonymity of social media to chat bullshit.
I knew your ilk. I knew you would crack and spew rubbish under intense searchlight. You couldn't make reasonable argument without being insulting. It shows the quality of education which you have been exposed to. I don't need to apply for the position of a Professor but I can tell you majority of you guys are paper tigers. Show me the impact you have made in your field and I will show you mind blowing projects I have used my skill set to lead. Universities should always be the bridge between the gown and the town, today, the town just sees your citadels as "mere institutions" where students go to after passing their JAMB. You should be bothered. You should be concerned and ashamed that you have failed to make a reasonable impact in the sector where you frustratingly find yourself. And let it be clear, I was properly educated and trained by the best hands in my industry in a saner clime. Let that sink in.

You can answer all those questions to the later truthfully if like i said before she keeps purchase and sales records.

Yes her income will fluctuate from time to time but her record of sales and transfer to her savings account will reflect that.

Business around the world fluctuate and the embassy knows that, so this is not about Nigerian thing.

E.g..the question like..what is her monthly/yearly income, you state that her income fluctuates and point their attention to her bank transfers as an evidence.

You can easily get her average income for a month or year by dividing her total income.

The ECO is right, you can't state figures without presenting evidences how those figures come about.
I am sorry the ECO was not right. Let's stop making excuses for them. I have experienced it with my mum and dragged it with them till they issued the visa. Like someone says, they simply don't understand how we run our affairs in Nigeria.

Hello Justwise thank you for your input. it highly respected and appreciated. Firstly with this approach, i will be unable to provide an exact answer as to how much my mums monthly earning or annual earning is. i would be only able to make an estimate, as we all know the business structure in Nigeria, sales flunctuate severely each month hence profit fluctuation.

From the last 2 applications i made that was denied, i submitted her bank statement and i only estimated an annual income. the ECO claimed they couldnt prove my mum earns the claimed annual income from the bank statement which they saw....This is very true because a business person's income isnt as fixed as a white collar professional, so i wonder how i am expected to provide an annual incopme from a very fluctuated bank statement.

i think this is the biggest advantage white collar professionals has over business owners.

Justwise please do you see my point? This is just me trying to rub minds with you, if thats ok
I will advise she pays herself salary from the company account. There is nothing wrong in you owning a business and you get paid from the company account. If you go the route of paying profit into another account , there is likelihood you will end up with the same result. These people are lazy and don't have much time to spend on an application

As an IT person.. How many years does it take to tweak a software cos ASUU pointed out this issues since 2013..?

Enrollment of the Tertiary education sector started November last year.. Why hasn't this been done?

By your submission, you are simply implying the FG is on a deliberate course to sabotage the education sector, else they did take into cognisance the issues causing industrial crisis..

You better sit this one out and stop claiming what you are obviously not..
All these are excuses. Get on board and they will work on the other uncaptured requirements(if any). Software evolves that's why we have different versions. We have seen through ASUU deceit. It's a corrupt union pretending to fight for the interest of the students. Now the hen has come home to roost. Most of the so- called professors and PhD holders are not sound and I wonder what they lecture the students. We need total overhaul. Fg should develop ball of steel, advertise their positions if they refuse to comply. I won't debate my professionalism with you, your choice mister.

Even the OAGF recognised that point 2 is valid.. But as we speak, IPPIS has clearly shown it cannot accommodate them.. Why not embrace an alternative that does the same job, but supervised by your office.

Thanks for input.
Quit this smoke screen. I'm an IT person.if a software doesn't capture certain requirement, the software can always be worked on to accommodate the new functionality. You cant throw away IPPIS because it doesn't fully capture your requirements, that's lame and uninformed.

This is the last minute ditch to coarse dogged ASUU member to register with IPPIS. The fact remains that people don't understand how that Union work. That is the union of intellectuals who are ready die for what they believe be in. ASUU took on Abacha in military regime let alone Buhari in democratic setting. ASUU is ready to close school down until Buhari leave office.
ASUU is not a union your threaten with non payment of salary.
If IPPIS is good why are other sister unions in the university who have enrolled backing out.
NASU, SANU and NAAT are on warning strike now.
If you are a lecturer, don't be cowed by this news. Stick with the Union. Victory is sure!
Please stop embarrassing yourself....ASUU is a "union of intellectuals" ?. That's not true. Infact their conduct seem like that of louts these days. Intellectuals that can't proffer solution to some of the problems in Nigeria in form of researches. Before you say you are not well funded , what happens to those funds given to you over the years? You use it to procure private vehicles and sleep with girls. Or maybe you can educate me what efforts have been made in our universities to produce vaccine for covid19, which can generate revenue for the nation in form of export

These people have made up their minds to completely destroy the public university system.

Is this what a professors takes home in the universities that their own children do attend?

342,000 per month (less than $1,000) after about 20 years in service, and so many promotions.

This is just the end of the public university in Nigeria.
FG is even being gracious. What is the relevance of most of these so called professors - paper tigers. Most of their colleagues are pioneering mind blowing inventions which they patent. They should go and sit down somewhere. What they are good at is sleeping with girls on campus.

I pass through the Akobo-Ojurin road you mentioned throughout the month of August Sir, the road is bad, but sir, I believe when you get to such position, all projects will be awarded just in a day. You will repair all roads in a day. You will make all hospitals world standard in a day. The past government of Ajimobi was a wonderful one, but could he couldn't construct that road either because I have known the road since he was the governor.

Let's be guided and talk facts
Already you are sounding like a political jobber. If you don't know, you ask. That road was awarded by Ajimobi, and re-awarded by Makinde. Yet nothing is happening till date. Regarding Agbowo, the place was just boarded. No structure is being removed, i drive pass everyday. I don't belong to any political party and i don't hold brief for any. I say it the way it is. Stop giving excuses for politicians - no one put guns to their heads to apply for the position. We need deep and critical thinkers in governance.
