@ironfist Thanks. It worked. It got submitted into the database. However, I need to get cleared. Is it anytime I try to submit a form that I have to instantiate the variable form or is it peculiar to my example alone. I asked this question cos the textbook that I followed word for word didnt even ask me to instantiate. Pls get me clarified on this. @All Thanks for being your brother's keeper. One day u will be remembered when i create a webiste more powerful than nairaland ![]() |

Pls, how do i create username and password. I just installed WAMP on my system |
dEAR Gurus, I just installed mysql, Php and Apache into my system using WAMP CD. I just started learning PHP and Mysql. I was just trying to add 3 fields in my html (namely name , address and Sex)into Mysql database. After running the program, I went to check mysql if those items were actually added, but it was actually added with everything blank out ie. the table in the database increased in row, but there's nothing inside despite filling out the forms in my html. I have been on this for the past 3 days and couldnt figure out the problem. I'm getting so discouraged now, please help , I have this code in my PHP : <?php $conn = mysql_connect("localhost", "root","" or die("unable to connect first phase" ;mysql_select_db("england",$conn) or die("select error" ;$nko = "insert into uk(name,address,sex) values('$oruko','$addr','$se')"; mysql_query($nko) or die (mysql_error()); echo "ADDED"; ?> This in my html Code <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <title>, Latest, </title> </head> <body> <center> <b> <font color="blue">This Is My Experiment, </font></b> </center> <form id="form1" name="form1" method="post" action="wapa.php"> <p> <table width="500" border="0" cellpadding="1"> <tr> <td width="70">Name : </td> <td width="48"><input type = "text" name = "oruko" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Address :</td> <td><input type = "text" name = "addr" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Sex :</td> <td><input type = "text" name = "se" size = "3"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> <td><input type = "submit" value = "OLUGBON" name = "submit" /> </table> </p> <p> <label>I hope u will love this, </label> </p> </form> <p> </p> </body> </html> |
Does that make bankers to be beggars despite the huge salary ? ![]() |
@ Prince22 I totally AGREE with u. You captured the whole scenario well |
Well this issue of having domiciliiary acct has made it no-go area for me. It takes you having a current acct which u must have run for 6 months, b4 they can open a DOM acct. I'd rather save the money for another upcoming shares, but I must confess that despite the sterling record of GT bank, this one smells a bit dodgy. They shouldnt have announced it at all, or they suppose to have made us aware of this prerequisite long time ago. No hard feeling, just ma opinion sha |
@prince22 Thanks for the comment, but I did ask them at iwo road branch where they told me that I could go to ANY of their branches and withdraw. They said I wouldnt be charge a kobo. So, whose fault ?? ![]() |
Well I will rather say that a bush at hand is worth trillion in the bush. If u already have a good clients base in the north, U can stay there and be saving your money for the school. I will never trade certainty for uncertainty. There's no guarantee that u will get a job withing a few period when u get to Lagos, but u can make a Lagos out of Katsina with hardwork and prayer, About coventry University, I will like u to know something. School nowadays dont make individuals. It is your zeal and desire that will make u to fly beyong your reach. Just be sure u can safe enough b4 coming to UK. Dont come to UK with no money and believing that U will be working and paying off your tuition from it. It doesnt work like that most of the time. I wish u best of luck sha |
Well, does air attendant mean the same as cabin crew cos thats wat he says he collects, and I cant question him, but he says the allowances which include his mileage push the salary up monthly. He travels like 3 to 4 times a week to UK tho, but not really sure if he is that realistic abt the salary o, 300k, thats wat he says he collects as a cabin crew sha |
@ frankriri and easimoni, Please when the prospectus is out, we need your comment here. It will help some man out there! |
@DREMONEY I have a friend working for virgin nigeria, and he told me that his salary + allowances per month is more than 300,000 naira. How far this is true I don't know ooo so don't crucify me here o He works as an hostess |
@ Roughcut While I appreciate ur quick response, I must confess that I still found it hard to understand your "share terms/jargons". I would appreciate if if you could really come to my level. You need to use layman term for me to understand. I'm not a dull person, it's just that I'm coming from an entirely different discpline ![]() |
TO easimoni and all GURUS in the House This GDR is getting a bit complicated now and I have some questions : 1. It is now a known fact that 1 GDR = 50 Shares . Now let's lokk at this scenario :, What happens if thE GDR value dont appreciate in the London Stock Exchange, but the share value appreciates in Nigeria Stock Exchange. If I request my GDR to be converted to share at that time (since it is stated that GDR is fungible), will the GDR still be exchanged at 1 GDR= 50 shares or are they going to work some financial maths out to calculate what my GDR wwill be worth at that time? 2. I thot the GT bank will come with a fixed price for the GDR. To my little understanding, it seems we will just bid for it, submit the form and later pay for the bid, which means our fund can be refunded or approved depending on the bid value that carries the day. Was I right with this assumption or I made mistake somewhere ? 3. It is noted that the offer will close by 20th of July , and up till today, the application form is not out, and they GT bank is already assuming the offer is on. How logical or fair is that ? Pls contribute cos I want to understand it o |
2. What factors do we need to consider before we can see this GDR as a must buy or no-go area?Lest I forget, will csc number (NSE acct number) be useful in the purchase of this share?? @all Please the questions above are yet to be attended to. Please @ all , im eagerly awaiting your response as time is going oooo |
Think well b4 venturing to coming abroad. Ask yourself some salient questions : Are u a citizen ?( Mind u beinga citizen doesnt translate to u making it here, it will just provide some soft landing eg GIRO in Uk) Do u have a permit to work ? Are your pple or associates that are willing to help u here ?( Remember some pple will switch off their fones immediately u r touching the airport ) and so many questions. I agree it is tough in Nigeria, but remember it MAY be tougher here when things aint going as planned All the best! |
@ Iwajay My internet banking activation is taking forever to be activated at OCEANIC bank again ooo, I have done all I was required to do, still no activation. I dont why OCEANIC is like this oooo ![]() |
Please hear me out, This is my analysis of Dangote Flour Opinion : I don't think Dangote flour will be as successful as Dangote Sugar Reason : When people bought Dangote Sugar Share, people were actually buying into the Company, i.e the money was being used for the expansion of the company, thereby making the company to have competitive advantage in the market. They performed better than their competitors due to the large capital base BUT The case of Dangote flour is different. Aliko Dangote is actually selling his shares in Dangote Flour. So, the money is not for the expansion of Dangote Flour.Our shares money in Dangote flour is for Aliko Dangote NOT for Dangote flour Dangote Flour would maintain the same capital base after ending the sale of the shares as it had before the sale. The competitive advantage wont be there, and therefore , the rise in the value of shares wont be as anticipated. This is just my layman analysis and I stand to be corrected plssssss ![]() |
In any case, if all your documentation was in place and the fault is from the bank, then you should have insisted that Gbagi branch of Oceanic bank called Iwo Road branch for clarification. This, they would do without charging you and they would not have charged you N250 (counter cheque withdrawal).@ Iwajay I understand your point, but when I got to Oceanic bank Gbagi, they insisted that thats the bank policy. Eventually, I went back to Iwo Road branch, and a staffer told me that they (i.e staff at Gbagi Branch) were saying rubbish. So, I didnt even know who was saying the truth and who was lying |
@ bakas, Thanks but I hope the same sleeky voice will speak to me too tho ![]() |
@easimoni Thanks for your reply, but it will interest that u I'm a greenhorn when it comes to share stuff. I picked bits and pieces of what I know now from reading various boks, but I must confess that your "jargons" threw me off balance. Can u pls break it apart for me to understand and send me a weblink where u feel i can learn more. Thanks |
@ All It's becoming increasingly technical now. 1. What does the word "dilution" mean? and how will this affect the price of shares ? 2. What factors do we need to consider before we can see this GDR as a must buy or no-go area? 3. What's the exact GDR to Share ratio ( I see the 1 GDR : 50 Shares as ordinary illustration) 4. It is stated that 1 GDR = $12 , and they stated that the minumu is 50 GDR which is 80,000 naira. Mathematically , this means they base their exchange Rate on $1 = 133.33 naira. So, my question is, If i can raise my Dollar in the black market (which I can still get at 128 or 129 naira), can I pay the dollar directly into GTB for the GDR? Please & enlighten me |
Well, let me contribute. When you bought the First Bank Public Offer, You will be given a copy of the teller you used to make the payment (Which you were referring to as receipt , I guess). You wont be given the certificate immediately. The certificate can take 6months, one year or more than that to arrive depending on the efficiency of the Regisrar of First Bank. The certificate will be posted into your physical mailbox that you specified when you bought the shares. Bt, keep the teller that you have very well, because that is the only evidence of payment for the share that you have. I hope this helps |
@bakas Thanks, I await that |
Venus makes me a proud black man today. Congrats! |
@ bakas Do u av an idea if GTB charge for that online banking services ? |
Money does not guarantee hapiness, but fulfiment will, and thats the ulimate in life, I guess ![]() |
I dont think alert on transaction is part of their online banking. I use GTB's online banking facility and I havent got any alert in my inbox despite the fact that there are transactions going on every week. |
I'm not surprised, WEMA bank is the registrar! , |
The editting function is not working. Try and enter the quantity of the shares u have and the cost then save it Attempt to edit by changing on some of the values and click on the update. You will realise that it doesnt change. It is a great tool, but that error is awful! |
