Towncrier247: Sent in by a blog reader...
Yesterday evening, I visited my aunt who is nursing a baby at Akute, Lagos. I felt like having a cup of milk, i went to the fridge and found out that her tin of milk was empty. I asked her if she had any more available, then she pointed to a cup on her dining table and told me she had some in it. She told me I could add some Bournvita if I wish. So I added the bournvita to the milk on her table. I gulped it down then noticed the taste was different. I told her about the different taste, and then my aunt burst into a big laughter. She told me it was her breast milk she pressed into the cup shortly before I arrived at her place. She said that it was breast milk i just mixed with the bournvita. I know my aunt is always up to all sorts of jokes and mischief, but this wasn't funny to me at all.
I feel something wasn't just right about her action. I feel like reporting her to my mum but I also don't know what her reaction might be and at the same time I hope I'm not over reacting. Is my aunt's action wrong or just a joke I should ignore? Pls advise me, but I cringe each time I remember. I am 18 years old.

ebonywilly: RE: KASHAMU SPONSORS BILL ON MENTAL HEALTH
Our attention has been drawn to a report with the above title in the online version of The Punch newspaper which might be published in the hard copy of tomorrow, Friday, 9th October, 2015.
Despite exercising great restraint in not joining issues with The Punch newspaper over the years, we have noticed a consistent pattern by some elements within the newspaper to prosecute a proxy political battle.
This time, the newspaper took its biased for Senator Kashamu a notch higher when it deliberately twisted a report that a bill he sponsored on mental health illnesses had passed first reading in the Senate.
Instead of commending Senator Kashamu for being one of the first set of lawmakers to sponsor a bill in the 8th Senate, or at least just report event and tell us the contents of the bill, it went on a binge to cast aspersion on his person.
First, we which unnamed experts told The Punch that drugs "remained the major cause of mental ailments among the youths?" This is just a colouration given to the report by The Punch's Sunday Aborishade who has a clear mandate to report lies about Senator Kashamu and/or twist reports that relate to him.
Recall that he was the one who, shortly after the 8th Senate was inaugurated in June, reported that Kashamu was absent at the Senate whereas he was not! Now, in another of his jaundiced report, Aborishade says "Kashamu is currently being investigated by the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency on issues relating to drug abuse which, experts claimed, remained the major cause of mental ailments among the youths".
Pray, does it not smack off ignorance that a man who had been tried and discharged severally over the same allegations both in Nigeria and the UK could be said to be "being investigated"? If he is still being investigated by the NDLEA (the very agency that had severally testified in his favour), why was the extradition proceedings instituted against him dismissed in June, this year? In case The Punch and its minders do not know, according to WebMD, mental illnesses are caused by three major factors, namely biological factors/inherited traits, psychological factors and environmental factors. It is under the environmental factors that you have substance abuse.
So, the less than clever attempt to narrow mental illnesses to drugs abuse and make Senator Kashamu unfit to present the bill, even when several courts have exonerated him, is wicked and unprofessional, to say the least!
It is only consistent with The Punch’s Pull-Kashamu-Down campaign. It has an uncanny penchant for twisting anything that relates to Senator Kashamu, and there are several examples. It reportage of Ogun State/South West PDP issues, congratulatory message to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, face-off with the NDLEA and lately the NANS award!
We do know the relationship among the Managing Director of The Punch newspapers, Mr. ‘Demola Osinubi, former Governor Gbenga Daniel and some expired politicians in Ago-Iwoye, Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State where Osinubi and Senator Kashamu hail from. But we never knew that anyone who sacrifice professionalism on the altar of primordial sentiments.
Clearly, someone is under a clear mandate to use the newspaper to run down Senator Kashamu under the pretext of performing its professional duties! But, we know that no man, no medium, no matter how powerful, is God!
Thank you.
Signed, Austin Oniyokor, Media aide to Senator Buruji Kashamu. why ll he not sponsor it? does he not know how many pple his drugs has sent to psychiatric hospital... |

macroscopic: Pls Nairalanders help!!
I met this beautiful damsel while serving(NYSC) in Imo State in 2013. She accepted to date me on one condition (NO SEX before marriage). I gladly accepted. Our love was a major gist in town because she is a beauty queen. I so much loved her with all my heart..She was a virgin and I so much respected her for that...I spent 75% of my allowee on her in addition with my personal savings...
On several ocassions, she lost control of herself during romance but as a gentleman, I kept my promise by not harvesting the forbidden fruit.. Her love for me grew stronger because of my self control. After NYSC, I relocated to Lagos in search of greener pasture. Things got tougher because jobs were extremely scarce. Still,I struggled to send her some money through her father's first bank account (she was 18yrs then).
Once in a month, I travelled from Lagos to Owerri just to see her....Our love was so strong..But since inception of this year, things got pretty bad that I could not meet up with my routine travels to see her. After 3yrs, I got a job few days ago in an oil company and I was so enthusiastic to relay the good news to her....But to my greatest shock ever...She sent me an apology sms that she will be getting married next week...I was preparing for sunday service but the news automatically made me fell asleep. I just woke up and feeling abnormal...She is calling but I can't imagine myself taking the calls...Pls I need your pool of unalloyed advice...
Pls save a soul today and God will bless you..Thanks my brother God just saved ur life.move on with ur life and let another woman enjoy ur new job.I don't know y IBO gals do such always. my cuz got same treatment from an IBO gal.I fear em with my whole being. |

Elxandre: I created this thread with the newly released phone, Infinix Hot 2 in mind.
This is a country that supposedly hates stealing and even go as far as lynching petty thieves. But we "tweak" and steal the data incentives offered to people who buy phones with their hard earned money.
People defend tweaking to browse Free on our ISPs, with the premise that they are only "revenging" the evil done to them by these service providers, who have refused to provide truly affordable data.
My Question is, why should I buy a phone and meet my data already stolen, when I'm not the ISP that you have your grudge against?
This is synonymous with stealing and corruption, and if you actually campaigned for "change", but still steal incentives from people, you are just another hypocrite. I do it...kill urself.lol |

Politics › Re: NANS Tells Buhari: “You Have Disappointed Us In Your 100 Days In Office” by mudiana(m): 10:02pm On Sep 06, 2015 |
OboloMAN: The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari on his achievements within his 100 days in charge of affairs of the country.
The students’ body said the President had failed to give a clue on whether he would turn things around for better for the masses within his constitutional four years in office.
NANS spoke through a statement issued by its Vice President on National Affairs, Comrade Timileyin Gbenga Ayenuro and tagged “Let the change be realistic, not a mantra”.
Besides, it lamented the President’s failure to fulfill his 100 days promises made to Nigerians, particularly the youths, during the campaign.
However, Buhari through his media aides and the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed has denied making promises to do a particular thing within his 100 days in office during the campaign period. But, the students union insisted that the President has no reason to deny or refuse to fulfill promises he made to Nigerians during the campaign period. The statement reads, “During Muhammadu Buhari’s Presidential campaign, it should be recalled that a public letter was published by the President titled, “My Covenant”.
“He made no fewer than thirteen promises to Nigerian in the document which are: Reduction of fuel price to N45 per liter; Subsidize oil price at $100 a barrel; pay the poorest 25 million people N5, 000 every month; guarantee 40,000 megawatts of electricity in four years; Post NYSC Stipends; provision of Free meal ticket per day for all Nigerian school children and also provision of three million jobs in his first year in office.
“To the utmost surprise of every Nigerian student, President Muhammadu Buhari, has not only failed to deliver on his numerous ‘100-day in Office promises’, the President and his media machinery are intentionally and falsely, in the bid to cover the ineptitude of failing the ‘100-day integrity test’ in the court of public opinion, denying these lofty promises made during the electioneering campaign.
“Also, he promised to build four refineries in one year; provide free education to all Nigerian children, conquer Boko Haram in two months, payment of allowance to Graduate job seekers, Tackling Child Labour, Graduate Employment, Nationwide Environmental Sanitation Plan, No foreign Health Care for Government officials, 20% Education Budget, Just Farm, Government Buys Policy, Educating the Girl Child, An Independent EFCC and ICPC, Establishment of Office of Public Defender, Protecting Freedom of Speech, More Government spending on Health, Improving National Security, Prompt and stress free pension payment, Addressing Ethno Religious Tolerance, A fair deal with women and Corruption Free Election.
“With the aforementioned lofty promises, Nigerians thought the change they expected had come. But amazingly, after 100 days in office, Buhari whom they described as ‘Baba Go Slow’ because of his sluggishness in executing government policies, has not achieved any of the promises.
“Muhammadu Buhari should learn that Nigerians mean business and are ready to see developments around the nooks and crannies of the country. Nigerians believe that terrorism will be a thing of the past, corruption will be a forgone issue. Nigerians believe that the new president should find a lasting solution to the backlog of unpaid salaries, perennial fuel scarcity, fuel subsidy regime, cost of governance, institutionalized corruption, insecurity, erratic power supply, poorly-developed education and all other human endeavors. The clock is ticking!
“Also, it is disheartening and perhaps, indicative of the direction the administration of President Buhari is heading with respect to the lopsided appointments made so far. He is just being driven by the passion to salvage a ‘perceived’ sinking state, irrespective of who is negatively affected. He needs to know that we have a federation that should be run through established laws. All the federating units must be part of the government to avoid unnecessary litigation against constitutional violations.
There are still many more appointments to be made and Nigerians are watching to see what will happen.”
