There are generally two categories of mosques in most Nigerian communities; those built by community or people living in an area and those built by some men/families in their houses. Personally, we have a Mosque in our Kwara country home and our Imam get paid salaries. In most 'private' mosques, I guess the Imams are paid. For community-built Mosques, unfortunately I don't know whether Imams are paid. The faintest idea is that part of proceeds of donations in Mosque programs are allocated to Imams running that mosque but I'm not sure whether there is a structured salary system. Allah knows best

Actually Imams are not paid in virtually every community owned mosques, at least in my part of the country, i.e. Kano. Most of those Imams are what is called settled Qur'anic teachers (you know there are those who go from one area/place to another searching for posture area just like cattle-rearers) and majority of them are farmers, thus they farm with their students (or almajirai, plural of almajiji) what they would be eating through-out the year. Again, they gain other earnings from "gifts", "alms", etc given to them by some wealthy people in that community. But nobody actually paid them.

Although in some instances, government sends them other gifts like bags of rice, corns, sugar, etc. But that barely happen.

Actually I get little time to talk at length. But you really need to get well informed about such an intricate issues. Let me tell ya even many Muslims understand this Sunni-Shiite issues very well. Considering this how come a non-Muslim fathom things? Hardly.

This thing don surprises me always, wallahi.

it started on sunday when some hausa youths were playing ball near a church.
the church ushers came out and told them to stop that they could continue after the church service.
the hausa/muslim youths left only to regroup with arms and attack the christains who had closed and were leaving the church.
it all started from there.
al jazeera is an islamic news channels and is always pro islam
when the fight started, they said nothing about it.
when they had access to the killing in kuru, they over played it making it sound as if the christains were the aggressors.

Don't be that unfair to them, please. Its not only Al-Jazeera that reported other then what you claimed instigated the conflict. And hwoever read, listen news know this fact.

I dont think there should be any comparism with the pains Jesus felt and that of the child. The question is, if the signs is truly arabic; then what does it mean? If nobody can translate then the parents should take the poor child to the hospital so they can perform surgery. Why suffer the boy!
