mismarshal: My baby boy arrived on the 17th of June at 34 weeks. He waited till we 'crossed over' before making his early appearance as I got into the US 8 days earlier.
Had my baby in Oakbend with Dr Dama Ziwortin.... Had to have a C-section as my baby was in a transverse position. It was the best experience of my life as I felt no pains at all during delivery... Before (even though I was in active labour and contracting), during (thanks to the epidural... I guess) and after the surgery (definitely God's grace). I was placed on pain medication afterwards but I didn't need them as I was in no pain whatsoever. This is God's grace and mercy solely because at many points I almost lost this baby but God's mercies kept him.
After experiencing a miscarriage last year for no understandable reason I felt empty and prayed earnestly for God's help and he came through mightily for me. I am so humbled by the whole process of having a baby. I has taught me to trust God more especially as an independent and supposedly strong woman. It is truly not by power nor by might.
I was discharged after two days but my baby was taken to NICU.... Where they kept him for 12 days. I practically had to beg them to discharge my son as they said he had to gain some weight before they let him go. So they were only feeding and changing his diapers.... I could have done that from home. They slammed me with a bill of $7,900 afterwards which was later discounted to $5095 if we paid fully within a week.
My advise is alway be prepared for unseen situations. I planned to spend $6900 for a normal delivery but I ended up spending $13,500.
Baby is healthy, Mummy is health that's the testimony of supernatural childbirth for me! As a FTM I'm blessed to have experienced this.
Thanks to all the peeps that keep this thread alive. I learnt so much by just reading. God bless you loads. Congratulations dear. God bless you and your LO. |

greatie: My dear, he said that he really doesnt like taking his patients to oakbend cos they've not upgraded their services yet they increased the price. He prefer Methodist and St Luke.
Mamas who are already using oakbend please help clarify this cos i got my quote in December.
Ps: havent gone to the these hospitals to make enquiries though. You're very correct. He also said they have more experienced nurses @ methodist. But note that if you must use methodist, it is compulsory you pay $1500 for epidural before you'll be registered. Your money will be refunded if you don't use it. |

So here's my transcript (I hope it doesn't wipe off again) Left naija on Thursday, flew Emirates airline with a toddler. Traveling with a toddler is no joke! Almost lost my voice from shouting. I immediately asked for an extra seat immediately we boarded which I got. Can't imagine putting him on my lap throughout with my long belle.
Fast forward to Dubai. Connecting flight was for an hour...we were almost the last to board. Just at the boarding gate, I was asked for my fit-to-fly which I handed out. The lady kept looking at me and called one of her bosses. That one too kept staring at the letter, then the lady asked him if I could fly at 33wks (shuooo, the devil is a liar!) me sef kuku started staring at the man with one kain eyes, he eventually said I should go. Immediately we boarded, I asked for an extra seat, well I got 2 extra seats. I just raised the arms of the chairs and voila! A nice bed space for my son. I suffered eye redness as I couldn't sleep all through, all thanks to my son with his Indian friends playing and screaming on board. The free WiFi helped though as I was able to chat with DH throughout the journey.
Fast forward to houston POE...the queue no be here ooo. Almost felt like fainting but thank God I didn't. No pity for preggy Momma. Me: hello Cpb: hello (with a strong face) CBP: why are you here Me: to have my baby and for vacation CBP: passports please CBP: place your four fingers for scanning CBP: how much cash do you have on you Me: 7,400 CBP: what do you do Me: i'm an interior designer Cbp: any food stuffs Me: yes Cbp: okay step aside, an officer will come get you
Off to secondary inspection: Met a lot of people there and I kept wondering when i'd be called. DH kept calling my phone, I couldn't pick as no phones were allowed. I walked up to an officer and said 'Yes I'm here' she was like, I didn't call you. (oh! Apparently I called myself...sincerely, I thought I heard my name) as I was about to turn, she asked if I was expecting Me: yes CBP: when is your due date Me: july CBP: when did you apply for your visa Me: July 2014 CBP: when is it gonna expire Me: July 2016 CBP: okay, go have your seat Just then another officer came out to ask if people were hungry...some raised their hands. I was too tho but I kept observing. He said okay, if you want food make sure you write your name on this list which was then passed round **for my mind! I said their Fada...sorry I mean their Dad..lol. Esu oni gba ibi ounje ti mumi. Devil get thee behind me! Make dem no deport pelzon ontop sey we chop 5mins later, I was called CBP: how did you know about the hospital Me: well, I had my first child there CBP: really?!, do you have your receipts Me: of course (tried reaching for them) CBP: how much do you have on you Me: 7,400 and my debit card CBP: i'm aware getting PTA in Nigeria is tough Me: oh yes! (Ehen, thank God u are aware) CBP: where does your Hubby work Me: told her CBP: did you declare at the embassy initially that.. Me: *cuts in* of course, told them I'm coming to have my baby. CBP: okay, please don't receive any medicaid and try attach your receipt with other documents when applying via drop box for update Me: okay, will CBP: enjoy your stay....i was stamped in for 6 months N.B visa will expire in less than 2 months
Off to Agric: just my garlic was seized. I had all sorts..cray fish, pap, knorr chicken, garri, dried fish e.t.c.
Well, there's no big deal about Houston POE as long as you don't misrepresent. Goodluck dearies |

TheLeakyTribe: It is my turn to share my testimony.
My LO was born yesterday 11th May 2016. Some of you would recall how my Dollars were stolen by my help before my trip. I was well prepared to follow it up and post everywhere about it but after my first doctors appointment here, the stolen money was irrelevant to me.
The doctor did a scan and said she found spots on my LO's heart that were indicative of either a hole in the heart or downs syndrome. I began to pray and believe God even though I was very shaken by the news.
Long story short, she arrived yesterday and is completely fine. She followed me straight from the OR to the postpartum recovery room. Join me praise the Lord. I'm one happy mumma. A big congratulations to you. God bless you and your LO |

I was so scared ehnnn...and you know our people, they'll be like 'upon d America wey you go born, see your pikin face'..lol well my dear don't bother yourself too much. Just continue with the Shea Butter. In my case, I mixed my Shea Butter with little funbact A, and it worked magic!!! Try get Aveeno Baby(Eczema therapy moisturizing cream). When you get to Naija, try get your hands on the original local Shea Butter +mix a bit of skineal in it. Apple19: @merrymum, God bless you for this info. But I don't know how long it'll take for them to process it. I intend leaving on Sunday before, but baby's US PP is not even ready. Applied over 4weeks ago, (Expedited), only to receive a letter that babys name is printed, sign...blablabla, in a nut shell, we sha re-fill the form and sent it back (expedited too O), and we're still waiting. So I'll just shift my ticket and Wait for the Naija PP stuff.(Additional expenses). It is well.
@All, pls for mamas that uses Sebamed products on LO, did you get from US? If yes, pls kindly tell me the stores, so I can get for lo. They seems not to know what it is here. Or if there's any other lotion like it (Tested and Trusted) pls help. My baby is kinda breaking out, and Pediatrician said I should get Cetaphil, but not helping. Pls TIA |

How only asked where I worked whichbi told him, he also asked my duties which I told him to a point den my little boy pulled my chain n I pauses before I continued he asked another question. Which was how may kids I had n if i was expecting. I didn't know I could show him my introduction letter cos I had all my documents with me.@ the leaky tribe I have access to about #250 k n baby ticket fare. Trust me, u didn't take wrong advice, you just didn't read before going for your interview. 20M bank acct. Statement? Abeggy....even 100M doesn't guarantee visa approval whereas 3M is just okay for the VO as long as you're sincere and you don't intend to runaway. (looks like u're even planning to relocate). Hello Nigeria NIV team,
I have a B1/B2 visa which I used for birthing in 2014 (the original intent). Now I want to use the visa for the same purpose.
My Question is: my visa will expire on the 30th July, my due date is in Mid July and I intend traveling to the U.S first week in June to be back in August. Can I travel with the visa? And what are my chances at the POE? Many thanks. |

The correspondence from Oakbend is okay...most likely you'll be asked at the POE. 10k should see you through. Well pray there's no 'incasity' while staying with Family cos they could act funny at times especially when it comes to paying bills.(not applicable to all families).Travel with enough Naija food stuff, they tend to appreciate that a lot and don't lazy around. With that you're good to go. Talking from experience.... Veka: hello house. this is my first time posting here i think. i want to thank everybody for their contributions on this thread. had my interview on the 9th and was offered the visa. i was very surprised because my interview was all of 3 minutes but i told them the truth. thank you all for advising on the truth policy. Now time for the rest of the hustle, i am due june and would like to go in early may. the only thing i have is correspondence with the doc at oakbend and a 10k budget that should cover my transport too.. Please how do i proceed? would the money be enough i will be staying with family in houston but i want to be ready just "incase of any incasity". please help. thank you. |
