LAWMAKER FROWNS AT SUPER-SPORTS ON SOCCER LEAGUE Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, Deputy Chairman, Committee on Sports at the House of Representatives, has called for a legislation that would moderate Super-Sports Cable television in Nigeria. Elegbeleye made the call Monday while speaking with newsmen in Makurdi. He said the uncontrollable infiltration of the Nigeria air wave by the South Africa based cable station was inimical to the growth of Nigerian football leagues. "The quality of players that can make any league thick are available in our leagues, but the unabated beaming of European leagues by the station to subscribers in the country is gradually killing the development of the game here. "These subscribers who are in large numbers have commercialized their bouquets to show the matches to our teeming football lovers on the streets. "The beauty of the European leagues transmitted by the station has overshadow our league and something must be done fast to stop it," the legislator added. On attempts to improve the local leagues, he said a bill that would legalize Nigeria Football League would soon be passed into law, saying until NFL became autonomous the league would remain unattractive. He also said the Ministerial panel investigating corruption in football management in the country by the government was wrong. He argued that it was only NFA that FIFA statutory law allowed to probe football officials in any country. |

9ice makes first overseas trip For the first time Nigeria’s rave of the moment, 9ice, stepped out of the country last weekend and made history with a stage performance at the birthday concert organised for the globally respected former South African president, Nelson Mandela. 9ice The Gongo Aso crooner joined other international artistes to celebrate Mandela’s 90th birthday, which was sponsored by Zain Group. 9ice described the trip and his experience as mind-blowing. “It was a wonderful experience. I had fun. I thank Celtel Nigeria, the sponsors of the concert, for giving me the opportunity to play at such a big stage with great stars and a massive audience.” The birthday concert was a great moment for 9ice as he took the stage right after Amy Winehouse, to thrill the over 40,000-strong audience at Hyde Park, London. Many believe that 9ice felt intimidated during the concert, and that affected his performance. But the crooner felt otherwise. “It was more of excitement than intimidation,” he said. “The back up did not understand the language I was singing in. The band did not understand me either. It was a lot different from what they were used to.” |
FG denounces Mugabe’s re-election The Federal Government on Friday rejected the re-election of Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe, saying a run-off vote had not changed anything in the country. Reuters reports that Nigeria, however, stopped short of refusing to recognise his government. Foreign Minister, Chief Ojo Maduekwe, said Mugabe should not use the outcome of a June 27 run-off vote, boycotted by opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai, as a basis for negotiation. Speaking with reporters in Abuja, he said, “We express our strong displeasure at the process leading to the election and its outcome. We therefore do not consider the outcome of that election as a basis for moving forward. Since the run-off election did not change anything in Zimbabwe, we believe that discussions should proceed without any reference to the run-off election.” |

Idiots! Someone plz remind me what Jay Z ever did for Nigeria. . If my assumption is wrong, forgive moi! Wrong what?? You see the amazing foolishness of our leaders. If Osama bin Laden came to Nigeria tomorrow, they'll rename Murtala Mohammed Airport after him. If Neyo visits abuja, they'll probably name the National assembly after him. And just wait till beyonce visits the president, she'll be the face of the new 500Naira note Gwad! ![]() |

hypocrisy (or the state of being a hypocrite) is the act of preaching a certain belief or way of life, but not, in fact, holding these same virtues oneself. For example, a teacher telling students they should not plagiarize, while secretly being a plagiarist himself. Hypocrisy is frequently invoked as an accusation in many contexts. For linguist and social analyst Noam Chomsky, hypocrisy, defined as the refusal to ", apply to ourselves the same standards we apply to others"[1][2] is one of the central evils of our society--promoting injustices such as war[3][4] and social inequalities in a framework of self-deception, which includes the notion that hypocrisy itself is a necessary or beneficial part of human behavior and society.[5] [6] In other languages, including French, a hypocrite is one who hides his intentions and true personality.
