Depilot: Akala is definitely not my cup of tea. But what do you guys expect from him? This is nothing but pure politics; right or wrong, Akala is doing what a good politician suppose to be doing. This is Ibadan people we are talking about. It doesn't take much to turn them against anything. These are the same people that made it clear during last election that no 2 terms governor in Ibadan and that was exactly what happened. These are the same people that worshiped and followed Adedibu until he died. One has to be careful dealing with this group of people, they play a totally different ball game. They are not Lagos people and definitely not Ogun state people, they are from a land where Amala can do miracle.
My advise for Ajimobi is not to totally ignore Akala's comments (right or wrong), no need to present himself as classy and educated, no need to be a gentle man. It won't work in Ibadan. He needs to continue to be loyal to Ibadan people and go head on to tackle Akala blow to blow. Or else pretty soon Ibadan people we start saying this guy (Ajimobi) is not better than what we were getting (Akala).
Akala's one and only job is to do whatever needs to be done to frustrate Ajimobi and turn him against Ibadan people. And this strategy is called "good Politics". It works all the time. the bolded only shows u r very well uninformed. who told you ibadan people worshipped and followed adedibu? the man terrorised the city and created fear in the people of the state with his army of thugs and nobody dare face or challenge him. BTW wot did u mean by a land where amala can do miracle? dude, u got brains in your head na pls use it, its not for decorations. |

mbulela: In an advertisement congratulating Governor Akpabio for the “great feat”, one message enthused that “the little boy who could not gain admission to the Nigerian Military School, Zaria, has today obtained a Doctor of Science in Management from the NDA.” In the case of Mrs. Madueke it was touted to be yet “another first for the Amazon” being the first woman ever to be so honoured by the military academy. Her other first was being the first female Petroleum Minister. Now, if one was not a governor and the other Minister of Petroleum, would the NDA have honoured them? Incidentally, in June this year, the University of Port Harcourt awarded a Doctor of Science degree to the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan.
But on the same day and at the same venue, Vice President Namadi Sambo, who represented the president, announced a N3 billion special federal government grant to the university. The timing and place of the announcement of this “special grant” raises serious moral questions.

Kolababa: I dont know why people compare Nigeria with US and UK when it comes to the issue of petroleum deregulation. An average briton and american do not know when the fuel price goes up or down since their transportation system does not depend on petrol or deisel. Trains are there that is very cheap. Elecricity is stable, no headache of fuel for my "i better pass my neighbour". They use gas and elecricity for cooking. Manufacturing sector does not depend on fuel for power. But in Nigeria, all our economic life revolves round the fuel and any slight change in price of fuel in Nigeria will surely take a toll on every areas of the economy. Pls leave theory you read inside book for your children at home, we all know the theory. Abi we sha go to school. In UK and US, no matter the tuition fees, that one is not a problem, study loan is there for you but in Nigeria, even bursary award, government will not pay. Government will give scholarship, the money will be given to the children of big men. When Obasanjo was giving out federal government scholarship, there was a guy that used to sell his blood to the hospital to pay the school fees, the guy applied, he was not given but his classmate who has a uncle in the federal ministry of education got the money and she used part of the money to buy rechearge card and the remaining for birthday. COMPAQ: It is the responsibility of the government, not mine, to ensure that it pre-qualifies and pre-selects only competent investors who are willing to operate the companies on the guidelines as set out by the government ab inito!! If whoever bought Ajaoukuta bought it with the intention to break it up and sell the pieces for more money and our government in its usual stupidity didn't put a clause in the transaction that the companies were to be operated for Bleep number of years, can you blame the company!!? The company has done nothing illegal. Asset stripping is actually a normal part of business. We need to decide which form of economy we want to run - communist, socialist or capitalist!! In a capitalist economy, I can decide to buy a non performing company for whatever reason. Ideally, if i want I can buy NiTEL not for the purpose of operating it, but for the purpose of gaining access to all their landed property all over Nigeria and selling all those for a profit. It is only illegal if the sale contract expressly forbids it! Or the laws of the land forbid it!
I am unashamedly in support of privatisation and deregulation. The private sector is 1000 times better at capital formation and efficient allocation than the government. An investment decision that takes the MD of a private company 1 hour can take government 6months. Even the Minister of Power admitted as much when he said a few days ago that isn't it odd that even the new plants built by govt (Geregu, Omotosho etc) are operating at less than 40%, while the IPP's built by Shell (Afam 6) and Agip (Okpai) are operating at 85-90%!! Doesn't FG have Afam 1-5 at the same location as Shell!!??
Think of all the government companies that have failed over the years Nigerian Airways, NITEL, Hotels, Banks, PHCN, NNSL, NRC, and so many more. How come private airlines are working, GSM companies are working, thousands of private hotels across the country are working, private banks are working et al!! Think how many jobs would have been created if a private NRC (railway corporation) was working today? Not to mention lives that would have been saved as the roads would be better since so much of the haulage destroying the roads would have been transported by rail!!
Dude, I rest my case, GBAM. u don agree to their incompetence. |

COMPAQ: No doubt the masses will cheer this news, but this is just probably one of those populist announcements that governors like to make. While reducing fees is not a bad thing, but where will the money to run the university come from?? Contrary to popular belief in Nigeria, university tuition is not free in the UK or US. UK university tuition for British citizens is anywhere between £3000-£5000 per session. Yet we make noise here over increases from N25,000 to N50,000. No doubt, scenarios are different, but we need to put our money where our mouth is. If we want a very good education, we have to understand that it won't come cheap. We Nigerians talk with both sides of our mouth:
1.We want 24hr electricity, but we don't want to pay for it. 2.We want a deregulated downstream petroleum sector, but we want the prices to remain at N65. 3.We want jobs to be created in this country, but we want govt to hold on to every sector because they are strategic to "national security" We want corruption to reduce, but many of us who work in corrupt ministries, agencies and parastatals have never thought to copy these documents that clearly show illegal transfer and send them to efcc anonymously. We all want to go to heaven, but no one wants to die. We cry out about flooding and filth, yet we citizens throw gala wrapper and rubbish unto the roads without thought.
We are really a largely illiterate and hypocritical society. @1. dats nt true, infact some people are actually over paying. i think its there duty to provide it 1st and put the measure in place to ensure peple pay for the service. afterall are they not alway defaulters disconnected? thats not an excuse @2. For u to say this, u must have been walking around with your eyes closed. u need to open those eyes and see how much suffering is in the land which is solely due to Government negligence. the money is not being judiciously utilised so people can as well enjoy the fresh air of the subsidy @3. i dont think anybody still hold that opinion after the visible success privatization has brought to the telecom and aviation sector. please lets stop giving the Government lazy excuses cuz am sure if u were a managing director, u wont be giving your board an excuse of workers insolence, then there is no point putting you in charge then. Beaf: Its unfortunate that people have to begin making such far-fetched excuses for Aregbesola. That guy is the worst thing to have hit Nigeria's political scene; the man is totally, lazy, indolent and incompetent. The people were carried away with his out of this World promises, its so sad.
Its funny that a party man is now ascribing god-like powers to him for keeping the rains from Osun. I mean its damn crazy! I posted this elsewhere in the past. Osun is in for a very long ride. as much as we all know tha the op is only making undue propaganda, u r way out of your head. and from ur comments i saw on the thread below. u r simply an anti-ACN person. for goodness sake every1 knows dat dese ACN governors are saner than those that PDP had ever produced. pls say the truth when u see them. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-747584.0.htmlfuke: I agree that the claim is foolish. What stopped him from advising Ajimobi to take such precautions knowing that Ibadan is more prone to flood.after all they are both in AC
I do not think Aregbesola has done anything to prevent such calamity we experienced in Ibadan if the heavens should open up on Oshogbo or Ife or Ilesha as it did in Ibadan on that black Friday.
Be that as it may, To call Aregbesola a lazy man is the acme of unfairness and misjudgement unless Beaf has new meanings for lazy and indolent. This is the guy that managed works ministry for Tinubu. Even his detractors cannot but agree with the fact that he is hard working. .
Beaf, I like the way you craft words and your incisiveness but sometimes you get so carried away and get so unfair and partisan and sacrificed truths to achieve your goal.
You will lose some friends if you choose to close your eyes to the truth all the time. so from ur highlighted claim, we can easily concluded that GEJ and david mark has embezzled lots of the nigerian fund cuz bankole must av advised them on how to go about it na or why didnt they warn him when he was misappropriating the funds since they are both PDP na. wot a pathetic thing to say |

ALE Hydro Engineer IBADAN +234 8033798443 m gonna keep these simple for u, its a downpour cuz it rained with so much intensity for over 6hrs. these led to the eleyele dam getting overflowed and this only made the effect more felt in areas along the eleyele river axis. so ur highlighted statement above is uncalled for. @kobojunkie, u'll av to do a lil of researching too cuz from you referenced report, eye-witnesses reported cases of flooding in areas like old-ife road, ojoo and moniya which are places with no damed rivers in conclusion. there's no way any of u's gonna tel me it was ur so called de-silting that submerged 5 electric poles and 2 fences in my area that is well over 2km from any f**king river. |
