Politics / Re: House Okays N38.8bn Jumbo Allowance For Members by muyoto: 9:55pm On Mar 18, 2012
N38.8b is close to 10% of the total budget for just the house of reps. by the time we ad that of the senate, i just wonder how much we will be spending to maintain our legislature.

Pray is this not insanity What for goodness sake is really wrong with this country?? What, WHAT, WHATTTTTTTTTT!!!!!! angry angry angry
Politics / Re: House Okays N38.8bn Jumbo Allowance For Members by muyoto: 9:33pm On Mar 18, 2012
this is not PDP thing; it cuts across all parties, they're all the same opportunistic, callous bunch. Instructively, this same Nation, a known pro-ACN paper, had cause to ask some telling questions some weeks back, when the senate took delivery of SUVs costing a total of about N1.7b.

However, what is more gripping in the odious spending is the silence of members of the opposition parties in the Senate. As a result of their unremarkable silence, we are compelled to inquire whether the opposition parties actually support such legislative profligacy. Even the self- professed opposition parties have not lent the desired vociferous voice against this loathsome procurement. Any opposition party that is worth the name should have barred its members in the Senate from benefitting from such questionable gesture. The fact that no opposition party has come out to stop its members is a contradiction of their publicly professed aversion to bad governance that this procurement amounted to.

This translates to an 80% increase and an additional N9.720billion strain on public purse every quarter or N38.88billion per year.

saner countries are drastically cutting cost of government while ours thought it expedient to effect an obscene 80% increase in their income at such perilous times as these. as usual we they look like mumu.

Business / Re: If I Deposit ₦500,000 With A Nigerian Bank For A Year by muyoto: 7:41pm On Mar 18, 2012
jamace: OP
I will advise you again.
If you don't know what biz to do at the moment, buy nigeria treasury bills. The rate is about 14% for 91 days presently. You can roll-over principal and interest after 91 days. At the end of the year, you would have made 0ver 60% of your capital with rest of mind.
Think about this. Cheers.

I've seen you talk about this treasury bills in a number of threads, and I must say I find it interesting. I think it would be good if you could open a thread specifically on this issue so that those of us who less informed can learn more and possibly ask questions

otilox: Let's see it this way... When you talk of innovative and disruptive business models that people have come up with in recent years, it often has something to do with the internet... from facebook to spotify, from irokotv to dealdey. These new breed of companies have launched their owners into the millionaire zone in whichever currency within a short period. Why? cos the new age of business innovation and fast turn over highly depends on high speed internet, amongst other factors (google tesco and walmarts profit boost resulting from internet sales.

Why not eliminate the negative use of internet for money making (419) from your thoughts and tap into the potential of high speed internet for business innovation. I bet you quick millions would locate you too. A simple blog can do the magic through Ad gains for example.
Ps: I don’t work for airtel.

Yorisb: I was already a Millionaire at the age of 16....in Cedis/CFA though!

ROFL!!! grin grin

But this is an interesting point you raised. A millionaire in say Zimababwe cannot be on the level as Nigerian millionaire.

BTW NGN1m is just about USD6,000. is it really a big deal to see an American in his/her early twenties having that much money?
