Health / Dr Obiora, The ‘O’ In EKO Hospital, Dies by MyopicMods: 12:47pm On Sep 02, 2021
Obiora founding member of EKO Hospital dies
Dr Amechi Obiora

Dr Amechi Obiora, one of the three founding members of EKO Hospital is dead.

Obiora was the ‘O’ in the acronym, EKO, which was derived from Eneli, Kuku, Obiora, the three doctors that founded the Lagos – based hospital.

The renowned Anambra State-born medical practitioner was said to have died after a brief illness at age 85.

Late Obiora who studied at the Edo College in Benin City in today’s Edo State on a scholarship and at Government College, Owerri, Imo State was also on a scholarship on account of his superior intellect.

He was an outstanding student at the medical school of the University of Ibadan from where he graduated in 1964. His record at the Royal College of Surgeons in Scotland was no less impressive.

He rose rapidly to the position of Senior Lecturer at the College of Medicine, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH.

Obiora alongside his partners, Dr Alexander Eneli and Dr Sunday Kuku to set up EKO hospital to ensure Nigerians get a private hospital of international standards.

It is one of the few private medical facilities where young doctors officially go for further knowledge and skills. EKO Hospital is also one of the few hospitals in Nigeria that offers cancer treatment services.

It is on record today that the hospital has contributed immensely in curbing the spate of medical tourism in Nigeria

Politics / Ikonso,Gana,Shekau And Other Criminals That Died In Face Off With Military by MyopicMods: 3:16pm On Sep 01, 2021
Ikonso, Gana And Other Notorious Criminals That Died While Exchanging Bullets With Higher Powers.

The story of many criminals who troubled Nigerians but later died unfortunately while exchanging bullets with higher powers might intrigue you to hear. Their unfortunate ending reminded me of an Igbo adage that says, "He who lives by the sword, dies by the sword". These well-known notorious criminals started from the street causing pain to many people within their vicinity. With time, the majority of them ventured into higher crimes before they were eventually gunned down by security operatives and rival groups.

1. Nwaokike Kanyinayo Andy.

This young man terrorized the South-East region especially residents of Orlu in Imo State. Andy who is popularly known as "Ikonso" carried out several attacks with IPOB members after he was reportedly elevated to the post of Commander in the armed wing of IPOB group, Eastern Security Network (ESN). Although Ikonso had his days, he was however killed while exchanging bullets with the Police in Imo State.

2. Abubakar Shekau.

Abubakar Shekau at a time was one of the most wanted criminals in the world. This young man caused pain to those in the North-East especially residents of Borno state. Shekau was however reported to have killed himself by detonating an explosion after a heated exchange of bullets with the ISWAP terrorist group.

3. Terwase Akwaza Agbada.

Terwese aka "Gana" was the most wanted criminal in Benue state at a time. He committed numerous atrocities that made the Police, army, and Benue state government declare him wanted. At a time, a bounty was placed on his head by the Benue State government. Terwese was however killed at a roadblock mounted by the Army along Gbese Gboko Makurdi Road in September 2020. At the time he was killed, the young man was heading to surrender to Benue State government before he was shot and killed by the military.

4. Nasiru Kachalla.

Kachalla made life difficult for residents of Kaduna state. At a point, people stopped plying the Kaduna-Abuja road because of this man. Kachallla masterminded the 9th January 2020 kidnapping of Seminarians of Good Shepherd Major Seminary, Kaduna. He was also responsible for the kidnapping of Mrs. Bola Ataga and her two children. Although Kachalla inflicted pain on innocent Nigerians, he was however killed while exchanging bullets with a rival group of bandits.

Politics / Blood Flows Freely In Rivers State As Gunmen Kills Six by MyopicMods: 4:51pm On Aug 25, 2021
Gwara and Kono-Boue communities in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State have been deserted after gunmen suspected to be cultists attacked and randomly killed six persons.

A source said the attackers had first visited Gwara before storming Kono-Boue, leaving a trail of blood, tears and fear amongst the residents.
The hoodlums, the source said, proceeded to a neighbouring Kono-Boue where a motorcycle rider and the two passengers he was carrying ran into them and were shot dead.

Comrade Golden Nwibakpo, Public Relations Officer, Community Development Committee of Kono-Boue, informed City News that the gunmen, numbering about seven, invaded Gwara community, shot indiscriminately and left three persons dead without any confrontation.

He said: “This afternoon, unknown gunmen invaded Gwara community, killing about three persons. They went into Kono-Boue, killing three too. A motorcycle rider and the persons that were with him were killed.”

“They were coming from thanksgiving when they ran into the gunmen and were shot dead.”

Golden said he personally put a call across to the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Bori division who even though he deployed officers to the area, the culprits had fled before their arrival.

He said the absence of a functional police station coupled with the bad road in the area has worsened the security situation there. He added that villagers who fled were yet to return.

“As we speak now, some people are hiding in the bush. The way they (gunmen) came, they were not looking at anybody. They were just shooting.”

“The governor of Rivers State once came to this place and promised that there will be a police station there. Kono-Boue is a very large community. We are still hoping that he will fulfill his promise.

“Secondly, the road there is bad. If they fix the road, the police can easily access the area any time we call them. The DPO came with his team, but the gunmen did not waste time. He (DPO) was able to restore normalcy.”

Golden lamented the deplorable condition of infrastructure unabating cult-related crisis has created in the area.

“Let me say this: More than 35 youths and men have been murdered by cultists in the past 6 months in Khana LGA. About 5,000 persons are in different IDP camps in Bori, Igbo Etche and other parts of Rivers State.
More than 9 Communities are deserted in Babbe Kingdom as of today. About 12 schools are not functioning because of insecurity ravaging the area.”

Spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, who confirmed the killings said: “I can confirm the cult clash in Khana where three persons were killed. The victims include Namene Kialede, Muaka Ikara and Kingsley Kponee.”

Omoni said no arrest has been made, but efforts were underway to arrest the perpetrators.

He added: “Our men were combing the forests in Kono-Boue in search of the hoodlums. They ran into one Enyindah Lawson Ndu who was kidnapped at Elelenwo last week at about 17:50 PM. He was rescued from where he was kept in the forest and released to take medical care.”

Food / How To Make Ofe Nsala (white Soup) by MyopicMods: 5:10pm On Aug 23, 2021
Ofe Nsala is a delicacy peculiar to the Igbo tribe of Nigeria, especially the people of Anambra state. Ofe Nsala is known as white soup because palm oil is not used for the preparation, unlike other traditional soups.

While it is traditionally made with catfish, one can also make use of chicken as in the case of the recipe below:

Ingredients
Chicken
Small sized raw Yam cubes OR Yam Powder
1 handful chopped Utazi Leaves/uziza
3 tablespoonful ground Crayfish
1 medium chopped onion
20 g smoked/dry fish
3 medium yellow pepper (habanero)
2 Stock/Seasoning cubes (maggi, knorr etc)
Salt

Method
Properly wash the chicken, smoked and dry fish and set aside. Season and cook the chicken with the dried fish, adding onions, seasoning cube and salt to taste. Cook until done.

Peel the yam cubes and boil until soft, then pound to a smooth paste, using a mortar and pestle.

In the absence of a mortar and pestle, you can place the cooked yam in a food processor/blender, add a little hot water and blend until smooth.

Now add the yam paste bit by bit and leave the soup to cook until the paste is completely dissolved, and the chicken is well done. Now, add the pepper, crayfish, and smoked fish

Finally, add the utazi/uziza leaves, taste for salt, and simmer for 30 seconds.

Politics / CAN, Christian Lawyers Demands Ecclesiastical Courts In Nigeria. by MyopicMods: 4:25pm On Aug 21, 2021
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has asked the Federal Government to immediately establish ecclesiastical courts in the country to correspond with the existing Sharia court.

Reverend Adeolu Adeyemo, CAN’s chairman in Kano State, made the request on Thursday at the ongoing public hearings on the review of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) taking place in the state.

According to him, if the country cannot remain secular as provided in the 1999 constitution, there is an urgent need to equally establish ecclesiastical courts to balance the existence of Sharia courts in the country.
Similarly, the Bauchi State chapter of CAN also demanded that the ecclesiastical courts must be included in the Nigerian constitution to attend to the yearnings of Nigerian Christians.

The association insisted that the Christians have been marginalised and discriminated against over the provision for Sharia court without Christians having their own.

DAILY POST reports that Sharia law has been in existence in the country since 1999, when then Zamfara State Governor, Ahmad Sani Yerima began the push for the institution of Sharia at the state level of government.

Establishing an ecclesiastical court would enable the Christian faithful to have jurisdiction mainly in spiritual or religious matters concerning them.

Politics / Uzodimma,Umahi As Deputy And 21 Other APC Governors To Oversee Anambra Election. by MyopicMods: 3:23pm On Aug 18, 2021
Ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has deployed its 23 governors to tackle candidates of the ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and opposition parties in the state.

The campaign council, inaugurated by caretaker chairman of the party, Mai Mala Buni, is to be headed by Imo State governor, Hope Uzodimma.

The members of the council include Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege; Deputy Speaker Idris Wase; Minister of State for Petroleum Timipre Sylva; Senator Orji Uzor Kalu; Senator George Akume; some former governors; ministers; and party chieftains.

Ebonyi State governor, Dave Umahi, is deputy to Uzodimma, while his counterpart from Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will head the finance sub-committee. Governor Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa State will head the special intervention sub-committee, while Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, will chair the security committee.

Buni charged the campaign council to ensure Senator Andy Uba emerges victorious in the poll. Urging the council to reconcile persons aggrieved over the outcome of the Anambra State governorship primary, he expressed optimism that Anambra would join the rank of APC states after the poll.

He said: “I am glad to say with a sense of satisfaction that the growing fortunes of the party in Anambra State and the southeast geopolitical zone, in general, has increased our hope for victory. This will no doubt increase our chance of winning the election with a landslide victory.

“May I call on the committee to concentrate on issues that will add value to the success of the party and avoid issues that may distract us from the path of victory. We should remain resolute, committed, and law-abiding throughout the assignment and beyond.”

In his remarks, Uzodimma assured that the committee would do everything legally possible to win the state for APC. He said that the committee would leverage the Federal Government’s achievements to ensure victory for the party. He thanked the party leadership for the confidence reposed in members of the committee, promising that it would deliver on its mandate.

He said: “We will speak with the people of Anambra; we will sign a contract with them and I am sure that God willing, we shall deliver. All I ask of us is to work hard so that this opportunity presented by the gubernatorial election in Anambra completely integrates the people of the South East zone into the national polity.

“We are going there committed; we are going there willingly. I have seen a new determination, even among our brothers and sisters in Anambra. God will help us to realise our noble dream. We will not disappoint you.

Politics / Land Dispute: Ijaw, Benin Beat Drums Of War Over Ownership by MyopicMods: 8:54am On Aug 16, 2021
The seemingly unending crisis between the predominantly fishing communities of Ijaw in Edo State and Benin’s penultimate week has broken the fragile peace among the inhabitants of Ikoro, a community and the Benin of Obazuwa in Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state as both parties are threatening each other war over claims to the ownership of land in the community.

The Ijaw people also known as “Ijo or “Izon” are people of the Niger Delta Delta in Nigeria inhabited regions of the states of Bayelsa, (their original Homeland), Delta, Edo, Ondo Lagos state, and River state.

Many are found as migrant fishermen in camps as far as West and lived in locations near many sea trade routes and well connected to other areas by trade as early as the 15th century.

The need for concerted efforts to end the crises can not be overemphasised as the faceoff between the Ijaws and Benin dated back to many decades has led to calls on many fora by the Ijaws and demanded that the recipe for peace and to douse the rising tension is for the creation of an autonomous local council for the Ijaw people in Edo state.

But Benin’s had challenged such demand describing the Ijaws as settlers and thereby should not take advantage of their hospitable nature by laying claims to the ownership of any portion of Benin land in Edo South senatorial districts.

Even though the relationship between the Ijaws and Benin’s can best be described as fragile, tension again risen when an umbrella body of the Ijaws, Ijaw Youth Councils (IYC) in Olodiama accused some persons of Benin extraction from Obazuwa community of destruction of their properties, intimidation, and harassment.

They noted that the recent attack by the Benin people was another attempt to display them from the Ikoro community, one of the 5 clans occupied by the Ijaws in Ovia North-East local government area of the state, adding that their people had lived in peace in the said community for many years.

Speaking on behalf of the Ijaw at Olodiama clan, Comrade Sam Ebiwana at a briefing chronicled some of the alleged acts of aggression and intimidation as followed.

Ebiwana alleged; “First, On 1st January, 2021 Obazuwa community people stopped a heavy-duty truck of a construction company handling a six kilometre Ekenwa, Obazuwa /Ikoro community by federal government assisted road project.

“Secondly, On the 31st of March, 2021, Obazuwa community people stopped 6 Ikoro youths, they were not only attacked but also framed up on trumped-up charges.

“Thirdly, on the 14th of July 2012, Obazuwa community people attacked top Engineering Company’s property in Ikoro, destroying properties worth millions of naira claiming ownership of that particular land. It is now time for concerned authorities to intervene to avoid further attacks on Ikoro people to avoid break down of law and other.

Another Ijaw leader, Godwin Ewanta, stated, “We have settled in the Ikoro community for centuries before the people came in. Why are they now calling us settlers? Not that we are weak, if we decide not to react, we just decide to stay calm because we are law-abiding citizens. So we are begging the government to look into it. Those causing the problem between two communities should invite them.

However, a Benin social-cultural group, Benin Solidarity Movement in a reaction to the recent uproar among the Ijaws and Benin’s warned that Benin will not fold its hands and allows the Ijaws to continue to lay claims to any inch of Benin land and noted that Ijaws are not the only ‘settler’ tribes in the area.

Apparently speaking for Benin’s, President of the BSM, Comrade Curtis Ugbo insisted that the Ijaws from history are tenants to the Oba of Benin Kingdom.

“Benin Solidarity Movement (BSM) worldwide viewed with disdain the television broadcast of ITV news on the 21st July, 2021 by a self-acclaimed Ijaw group, IYC Chairman in the locality.

“It is an obvious fact that the Ijaws living in Iko community (which they corrupted to Ikoro), a community controlled by the Enogie of Obazuwa in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo state are lost and do not know their history.

“Let us make it very loud and clear to the settler Ijaws who vis-a-vis are customary tenants to the Oba of Benin Kingdom that there is no town or community in the Benin Kingdom called Ikoro in Ovia North Local Government Area of Edo State.

“And they should know also that they are not the only tribes that are settlers in that locality and for all we care, the IYC may be talking of a community that is situated in Bayelsa State acclaimed as a homogenous Ijaw State.

“The brains behind the pseudo IYC should be called to order immediately before they drag their kinsmen into an unwarranted circumstance, as far as the Iko Community issue is concerned.

“Ijaws should let it be known that they are settlers in the Benin Kingdom and our Great Oba of Benin Kingdom is the Overlord of all the lands in the Kingdom. And the fact that the Benin’s are accommodating should not be misconstrued as a sign of weakness by these miscreants who hide under different aliases and groups to trigger crises that will end up consuming them.

“We have been stretched to the limit and it will be a matter of good judgment if they call themselves to order now before it is too late.

“They should also be informed that we are not contesting anything with them as regards their Ikoro. Our area of interest lies within our territory, Iko Community in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State where we have over the years accommodated them and other tribes as it is our nature to be good hosts.

The IYC should be reasonable enough now to change their steps in this macabre dance that they have inadvertently forced themselves into; for nobody has a monopoly of violence”.

In solidarity with its Ijaw brothers, an Ijaw group under the aegis of Izon-Ibe Dragnet has tackled the Benin Solidarity Movement (BSM) over their comment on the Ikoro community recently alleging that there is nothing like the Ikoro Community in Edo State.

The Izon-Ibe Dragnet particularly warned the BSM not to see the peaceful disposition of the Ijaws of Edo, particularly the people of Ikoro and the entire Olodiama Kingdom as a sign of weakness, stressing that no one has the monopoly of violence.

This was contained in a rejoinder signed and issued to newsmen in Benin, the capital of Edo State by Bandua Itebete, Spokesman, Izon-Ibe Dragnet, a copy of which was sent made available to LEADERSHIP Weekend noted that Ikoro community as it were predates Obazuwa community.

“It is worthy to note that the Ijaw nation has never been conquered and hence our resolve to live in peace with our neigbours should not be seen as an act of weakness.

“However, we have keenly observed the activities of a group with the name” Benin Solidarity movement (BSM) ” and still wonder why such a group becomes the mouthpiece of the Benin speaking tribe which to us it’s not only unfortunate, it is very sardonic.

“It seems the said Benin Solidarity Movement (BSM) is grossly deficient of history, if not they would have known that Ikoro Community predates Obazuwa Community and such cannot be called settlers.

“A little research on what transpired in the early ’80s between Ikoro Community and a now non -existent Ikoloke Community which shared boundary with Ikoro Community would certainly give the BSM a clearer picture of what they are about to plunge the people of Obazuwa Community into and hence get a little wisdom from it and apply brakes before it’s too late.

Efforts to get the Public Relation Officer of the Edo State Police Command SP Kontongs Bello to react on efforts to restore peace amidst the threat to peace were unsuccessful as calls placed to him were unanswered.

However, a source within the command confided to LEADERSHIP Weekend that the police authorities are monitoring the situation there and will ensure that law and order prevail in the affected communities.

Two Ebonyi Communities Agrees To End Age long Communal War

THE ELDERS OF IKWO AND IZZI HAVE AGREED TO PERMANENTLY END THE LONG LASTED BLOODY COMMUNAL CRISIS BETWEEN THE TWO COMMUNITIES OF EBONYI STATE WHICH HAS CLAIMED LIVES OF HUNDREDS AND DISPLACED THOUSANDS FROM BOTH SIDES.

Report according to Ebonyipeople.com has it that Ikwo and Izhi traditional council of elders have arrived ellinwovu for the traditional rituals over the age long communal clashes between the two clans. The traditional rituals proclaimed automatic death upon anybody from either of the communities or strangers from elsewhere who may attempt to provoke the crisis by killing, abduction or in any other kind capable of inciting both clans to engage in another communal war such that has occurred before.
By this way, peace is permanently enthroned among the brotherhood clans of Ikwo Noyo and Izhi Nnodo in Ebonyi state.
This historic method works faster and more efficient than using corrupt Nigerian police or the evil politicians to settle communal clashes.
This method is more effective in dealing with the offenders, some clans and communities in Ebonyi state that doesn't engage in war and any clash which will result in shading each others blood always enter into this ritual of covenant (Nmeru) with this permanent peace will be achieved.
The people of Ikwo and Izhia in Ohaukwu LGA as well as Ezza people and Izhia as well as Ngbo that are descendants from Izhia are into this covenant that's the reason the above mentioned communities in Ebonyi state can not engage in war or any form of clash that will result to seeing each others blood for any reason or whatsoever.
Some are not into the covenant because of the high effectiveness of it in dealing with any breaker of the covenant, but it's the fastest means of ending all forms of communal crisis especially bloody war in the society.

Politics / Delta Monarchs Fault Agbor King Over Comments On State Kingship Grading by MyopicMods: 6:34am On Aug 14, 2021
DELTA MONARCHS FAULT AGBOR KING OVER COMMENTS ON STATE KINGSHIP GRADING

Traditional rulers in Delta State under the aegis of Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers have cautioned the Dein of Agbor over comments on the classification of kings in the state.

He was reported to have made the statement during a visit to the Olu-Designate recently.

The monarchs said the Agbor king would have sought more information and education on how kings are graded in the state before making such comment.

The council, raising from its monthly meeting at its secretariat in Asaba, the state capital, frowned at the comments of Dein of Agbor wherein he was alleged to have stated that the Olu of Warri and Obi of Agbor where the only first class kings in Delta State.

The monarchs, who picked holes in the assertion, condemned the action of the Dein in a communiqué jointly issued and signed by the Chairman of the Council, His Majesty Dr. E O Efeizomor II, the Obi of Owa; the Vice Chairman of the Council, His Majesty Major General Felix Mujakperuo (rtd), Orhue I, Orodje of Okpe, and the second Vice-Chairman, His Majesty S P L Kalanama VIII, Pere of Akugbene-Mein.

In a letter titled: ‘Rejoinder: The unfortunate and the regrettable claim of being a first-class king in Delta State by the Dein of Agbor, properly and legally known as Obi of Agbor’, the traditional rulers said: “The attention of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council has been consistently drawn by the public to the rather unfortunate publication made by the Dein of Agbor, properly and legally known as the Obi of Agbor, referring to himself and the Olu of Warri as the only first-class kings in Delta State in a recent newspaper report.

“The council had initially assumed that the Obi of Agbor was quoted out of context in the said publication and dismissed same with a wave of the hand, but after a careful and thorough investigation, it became clear that the publication is properly attributed to the Obi of Agbor.

“In view of the above confirmation of the publication accredited to him, the council will respond as follows: ‘That by the express provision of Section 45(3A) of the traditional rulers' council and chiefs law CAP T2, Delta State, upon which the Obi of Agbor is operating and functioning as a king, declares all traditional rulers of the state as co-equals.

“The in view of the law cited in paragraph (A) above, there is no rating or special classification of traditional rulers in Delta State as claimed by the Obi of Agbor.

Politics / Re: The So Called Protest Against IPOB In Imo Was APC Sponsored- Proof Attached by MyopicMods: 10:33pm On Aug 10, 2021
gidgiddy:
[s]There is this video and pictures making rounds on the internet that some youths in Imo state protested against the lockdown ordered by IPOB, which was a huge success

I knew I had seen the pictures on facebook and that it was a religious walk and not a protest. What I did not know was that the so called walk was sponsored by APC. A simple search of 'Imo youths religious walk' on facebook took me to the webpage of a group known as "APC Umuagwo Political Group" where APC members in Imo state littered the page with their so called religious walk

https://m./197325851883534/

Another webpage called HopeNewAndElectronicMediaCenter also has the pictures. The web page is actually a praise singing site for Governor Hope Uzodimma

They have since hijacked the pictures and said it was a protest against IPOB and the lockdown [/s]

You will die a miserable death.
Mark my word, your death will be miserable.
Generation to generation will be faced with misery upon misery.
Violence will never depart from your home.

Gov Obiano Clear Anambra state particularly Onitsha/Nnewi of Ipob Mess and stop playing with people's live. Peter Obi did same and Heaven did not fall but it put an end to Massob in Anambra state when Uwazuruike is fond of coming down to Onitsha to carry out his nefarious activities.

For instance how can you explain this: Ipob coordinator in Nnewi is from Imo state and his deputy from Ebonyi state. Is it that Nnewi people does have able bodied men to join and man Ipob if they so wish?

Let's not talk of onitsha because that's an issue for another day but Akpokuodike should do something and put an end to this menance by foreign Invaders.

Politics / Two Shot Dead In Nnewi As IPOB & Soldiers Clash In Anambra by MyopicMods: 1:11pm On Aug 09, 2021
Two dead as IPOB’s Sit-at-home turns bloody in Nnewi

The Sit-at-home directed by IPOB, early Monday got bloody in Nnewi with two people losing their lives in a confrontation between the Army and suspected members of IPOB.

The unfortunate incident happened at the Izuchukwu junction area of the Nnewi roundabout according to an eyewitness who alleged that the dead was a leader of IPOB alongside a commercial motorcyclist.

Vanguard gathered that the problem started at about 7.00 am when some IPOB members allegedly came out to enforce the Sit at home order and in the process blockade the major roads in the industrial town.

Some unidentified soldiers were said to have rushed to the area to clear the items used to block the roads, and in the process an altercation ensued between them and the IPOB members, leading to the soldiers opening fire on them.

The eyewitness said that the two victims were actually killed by gunshots from the unidentified soldiers, who quickly took off immediately after they fell to their bullets.

However another source told Vanguard that the two people killed were commercial motorcyclists who came out for brisk business but were sighted near the blockade put on the road by the soldiers who started questioning them on why the road was blocked and following jot exchange of words with the soldiers, they were shot by the soldiers who hurriedly left the scene.

Meanwhile, the industrial town has been reduced to a ghost town as the people who initially came out to survey the level of compliance to know if they could open for their daily business rushed back home to save their lives.

Some vehicles were also smashed by aggrieved persons over the attack on the civilians by armed soldiers.

However, a combined team of security agencies as at the time of filing this report later stormed the town to disperse the protesters who gathered in protest against the killing of the civilians by the soldiers.

It will be recalled that IPOB, warned residents of the state against coming out of their homes, following an alleged plan by the military to attack people and branding them IPOB and Eastern Security Network, ESN members.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, for Anambra State command Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, could not be reached to confirm the deaths.

Lawd!
I wonder what this world is turning to.
You mean as an Igbo elder, Onyeka Onwenu can not openly address an issue that has to do with the value system of Igbos without miscreants calling her out?
What the hell is wrong with some Igbos?
After destroying your elites, you'd turn around to cry that they are not there for you when you find yourself in trouble.

She is an Imo state elder and not an elder in anambra state

Yawns!
What is "Anambra culture" and what is "Imo State culture"? Who created Anambra state and who invented Imo State? Where are the boundaries? Some of you that claim to come from Anambra are just fool of it. .
The fact is that these outlandish funerals are new cultural realities in the East and like most other new cultural traits, certain clans in Anambra helped popularize that. You can't say it has been there all along. But you can say that Anambra traders helped popularize that in recent years. Certain folks in other areas of Igboland will follow suit. Others will not..
Honestly, this Anambra and the rest of them controversy is irritatingly stoopid!

Anambra has her own distinct culture and pattern of doing things totally different from the rest of other states. The Anambra culture is generally different from the rest of Igbos.

This OP is daft and dumb, to say the least. Burial in all of Igbo land is the same and depends on how you want to do yours. One day, two days, and so on, depends on your pocket and taste. Secondly, Onyeka Onwenu's mother is from Anambra state. Some of you are bigots that keep on bringing division in Igboland.

Fat lie, burials aren't same in Igboland. Anambra I witnessed has their own pattern and different culture.

Politics / Relevance Of Ijaw Ethnic Nationality Threatened, Says GEJ by MyopicMods: 5:19pm On Jul 31, 2021
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has called on leaders and stakeholders of Ijaw Nation to shun divisiveness and work together in love and unity for the collective interest of Ijaw people in Nigeria.

Jonathan made the call when the national executives of the Ijaw National Congress accompanied by the Central Zone officials of the Ijaw Youth Council, paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, on Friday.

According to him, the relevance of the Ijaw ethnic nationality as a minority group is being threatened because they don’t exist within one location, except in Bayelsa where their homogeneity is very pronounced.

He urged well-positioned Ijaw sons and daughters to sacrifice for the people and to also place collective interest above personal gains, stressing that differences among Ijaw should not jeopardise their unity.

Jonathan said the INC and the IYC have a huge role to play in ensuring the unity of the Ijaw people, especially among the political class, warning that political contestations must not be allowed to disunite them.

He said, “But the key point about us is the unity of the Ijaw people. And that is key. We are not too many in terms of physical number. We are widely spread, not concentrated in a geographical area, so our relevance is threatened along many states.

“Apart from Bayelsa State where we have a majority or almost the whole population, others are spread thinly (in other states). And a people like this need to be united to make impact. The collective interest of Ijaw should take precedence and people must sacrifice because of the interest of Ijaw land.”

The former President congratulated the INC executives on their successful election and subsequent inauguration, and commended them for the programmes and activities they hold to promote the Ijaw cause.

He also thanked them for the visit and encouraged them to feel free to seek his involvement in any issue, adding that he was ready to play his role in service to Ijaw land.

Earlier, the INC President, Prof. Benjamin Okaba, had expressed gratitude to Jonathan for supporting Governor Douye Diri to ensure a hitch-free election of the apex Ijaw socio-cultural organisation, which had been adjudged to be very free and credible.

Okaba, a professor of Sociology at the Federal University, Otuoke, said his leadership hit the ground running soon after their inauguration on May 14, “to drive the Ijaw agenda for resource justice, restructuring and internalisation of the Ijaw struggle for self-determination and self-actualisation.”

While enumerating some achievements recorded by his leadership, he also informed the former president that the INC was working towards holding an all-Ijaw summit to appraise the Ijaw question and future in the Nigerian State.

https://www.nairaland.com/6674342/onyeka-onwenu-obi-cubana's-mothers

What do Onyeka Onwenu know about Anambra and Igbo Culture?

Most times I am of the opinion that people should learn to mind their business instead of messing themselves up or speaking out of Ignorance.

Onyeka Onwenu is from Imo state and from facts gathered their burials is usually a day and much without any hullabaloo.

Obi Cubana is from Anambra state and in history of the state they don't joke or play with the departure of their loved ones. They always give their departed ones proper and befitting burial and that's the ANAMBRA CULTURE I came to find out about their burial ceremony.

What happened at Obi Cubana's mother burial is applicable to all burial in that state both high and low ones, known and unknown ones. It has always been their tradition there to entertain and even spray money to the family of the disease as they constantly receive friends who has come in one way or the other to show their sympathy.

Onwenu should have known that about Anambra culture before running to media to mess herself up. I am of the opinion that people should ask questions before talking or condemning
