topsy23: I haven't ooo, DC cable is going to be needed for low voltage wiring. We call I direct current, if you are to use alternating current on the DC cable that means you have to buy a stepdown equipment that will convert alternating current to Direct current.
I have done some installation before designed in USA. Most of the cable recommended in the design are bigger size . We study the design and localise it with what is obtainable in Nigeria.
We cahnge all the cable size and and I was opportune to talked to the US consultants. Don’t loud it yet before they increase the price of those cables too When I was still mad in structured cabling, I did some crazy stuff with Cat6 Gigabit cable and PoE. We powered some led lights using Cat6 cables. The bulk of the wires we use in house wiring are for lighting which can be converted to DC. I think we can achieve some savings with reverse engineering.

EgunMogaji2: And that's the thing. It seems that most Nigerians are used to hardship because of the situation in the country. I'll give you an example.
My MaiGuard suddenly decided not to allow artisans to charge their phones in his house anymore. I didn't wade in as I chose my battles but simply provided an extension cord from my garage for them. I then showcased one of the solar products that I sell to the artisans. A solar powered UPS system for N55K. It'll give them 6 points of light, radio, 2 USB ports. You know he refused to purchase it? So yes the options are there but somehow folks are not taking advantage of it.
All my exterior lights are solar powered so my compound is lit from dusk to dawn. My personal decision as I planned my return to Nigeria was not to be dependent on government. Increment in Price of Electrical CablesHas anyone here considered running wires for low voltage lighting in their project? cc: Topsy23 |

Greenarrow01: Don't you have NEPA at home They are right with cordless tools Don't be to archaic. Most times people have light all Through the night Have a small setup for Charging like 3-4 extra batteries for your tools Moving generator up and down is not it
Secondly the sound I hate gen sound. Thirdly. The 3k you spend on fuel and then the servicing There are few things you can’t do without a generator. Welding machine. But no be all the time we dey weld. We spend more time cutting, grinding and drilling than we do welding. |

michlins: how many times do I work at client site. To charge it at home, I will need NEPA again. But with the generator I have at workshop and daily diesel of 2000-3000, I can power all my tools and welding machine. And when the gen require servicing, all your tools won’t work until you have your gen back up. When you have offsite jobs, you’ll have to rent generator for something you can just do with a cordless tool. |

michlins: boycott what?
Power is still in the exclusive list of the Federal government if I remember correctly. There's a number which a state government can generate and anything above that transferred to the national grid.
Having said that,if you think you want to go solar, it's very expensive. That's how someone advised me to go solar at my workshop. When he's done with his maths,it happened that I will need above 300,000 to power only the angle grinder. I laughed at him tire I’d advice you invest in cordless power tools and get 2 to 3 spare batteries. You’d be glad you did. _________ You can charge them up at home, clients’ site or anywhere you can get electricity. By this you minimize downtimes. |

EgunMogaji2: If it’s from iKea then you knew in advance nau I kuku know It wasn’t funny when one of my client here ordered his furnitures abroad for multi-dwelling apartment only to pay almost half the cost to assemble here locally. - 88 doors - 12 kitchen The worse part is that we had to build matching frames for it locally because they won’t ship the kind of frame we need in our local build. _______ Another reason why I’m taken aback on foreign furnitures is because of the experience of another member of this thread who bought 40 doors from a friend in Turkey. For reasons best known to him, the doors weren’t installed in 2 years You need to see how terrible the doors has become when he was set to install them. Rodents love packaged furnitures here. A visit to most of the furniture shops here will reveal a lot to you. |

michlins: trust me you're so wrong. The prices won't drop again. That's why I usually tell people that if you have the funds, buy everything that you can store. You will be saving a whole lot of money I recently did some furniture projects. All the accessories used were gotten from my store. I bought them 2014. ________ During our shower cubicle discussion, I remember sharing that I still have about 3 sheets of 10mm glass in my store. ________ A few months ago, I shared picture of a shower enclosure I kept in my store since 2011. I’ve even forgotten I kept it there. ________ I have electrical wires enough to complete wiring of 3 buildings stocked up in my store. As a matter of fact, I don’t go to the market just for few items I buy more for keep. _________ Some weeks ago, a friend here asked me to help him get some brushed nickel door lock and stainless steel handle. I ended up buying some for keep. _________ Just last night, my kids showed me 13 replacement keys kept in a box at home. You save more when you buy things in advance. |

diordaves: The self assembly is what gets some people. Not everyone looks forward to the assembly bit. There is an IKEA assembly industry. You get IKEA and then call for paid assembly. But most don't mind. They even look forward to the assembly as a welcome challenge. Pretty easy and straightforward when you’re putting together one or two wardrobes. Imagine the huge cost when you have to engage professional installers to assemble 8 kitchen and 24 wardrobes. |

dongc: Haha...this baba self... mapping is a way for companies and investors to gauge the viability of a given trade or investment. Market mapping can be used to analyse different volatility levels and different prices for individual assets, or it can be used to analyse entire company and its competitors....
They know about ajah furnitures...
Look at this picture....you will get it...you are smart I understand you perfectly sir. You don't want to commit huge resources into a market which is largely unregulated. Looking at the picture shared, Lasisi will tell me "Oga, let's use the same packaging as the one that people buy more on our product."The next thing, you'll start seeing "Ikia Kitchen" or "Ikear Kitchen" or "Ike A Furnitures" or "Ike Anobi..." |

topsy23: Oga mi below is the sample of grid switch recently installed for a client in Lekki, We introduce it to him and he love it. We have all the sockets, Cooker control unit, cooker hood, AC and water heater connected to the grid switch, all the appliances have a central switching. Each knob have different rating from 10A, 20A and 45A
10A is controlling the lighting 20A controlling the AC, Water heater, Socket 45A for cooker unit.
Your kitchen equipment will determine the number of ways to be installed
The reason why we have 12 ways installed for this client is because:
1 knob for Light 5nos. of 13A socket connected 1no AC connected 1no Water heater connected 1no cooker unit connected 1no cooker hood connected
Total appliance connected is 10 The remaining 2 knob serves as spares Nice! |
