I don't know about Lagos but in PH when I had issues with them,I threatened to go to war with them--we die once. I promised them heavy casualties on both sides. One thing was certain--they don't want to die. By the way, that was a phone conversation.

I made contacts with their Vice Chairman, paid him off and had him keep his boys at bay. At a point I had to grease the palms of their igwe and cabinet. But in all, I spent about 40% of the original amount demanded. Being a gentleman could be a vice sometimes in Nigeria.

Omonile is frustrating me in my site. Those who used to be there are no longer there and they new guys are frustrating land owners erecting structure in my area.

They are asking to see my papers but if I show them I know they will still find a fault. Then they will begin to quote millions for me.

The issue at your site is pretty similar to what’s happening at my end too but there are some of us who have become untouchable in my community.

There has been long battle of ownership between 2 families and when a new winner emerged, every landowners (legitimate or illegitimate) were asked to bring their papers and make some payment before they can build or continue construction.

Some lands were reclaimed and sold to new buyers.

I do both , will show strength by inviting the forces to send a strong message at the very beginning , and will also settle them , most times during settlement the force will be there to witness , they come back for the occasional 20k/30k blessing money from the engineer at milestones . I’ve never had issues with omo onile in any of my projects especially those wherr I’m charged with the responsibility of handling for their matter.

I pay them what’s meant for them and do my thing.

One other thing that has worked for me over the year is I give them supplies to handle for me.

I never have to contend with supplier associations or pay illegal gate monies at al when omo oniles are handling my supplies.
Though I always work with the almost responsible one o.

But on occasion where I’m acting as a third party, any delay by omo onile is not my problem. I’ll give you time to settle yourself and resume when the coast is clear.

My principle is “Don’t die in their war.”

Its actually an Internet image. I shared a similar issue few months ago while working on a project at OPIC, Isheri Ogun state.
This usually occur in buildings having groundwater issues especially in a builds where foundations are built too low.
I wish I have the permission to share images from the OPIC project and the fix.

There are 3 types of services that people in Skimanski’s class delivers. You can only pick 2.

Good.
Fast.
Cheap.

If it’s Good and Fast, it won’t be Cheap.
If it’s Fast and Cheap, it won’t be Good.
If it’s Good and Cheap, it won’t be Fast.

As per the communication lapses, since it’s a known issue, I’d find a way to work around it to get what I want if it was me.

The last time I checked we get our water from the same ground we are polluting up and down with harmful substances.

Probably won’t be suitable for the busy area but we have different types, some are pure wood floorings while some are just ceramic tiles made into wood patterns

Very unsuitable in high traffic areas.

Work fine in home office, studio, media room and other less traffic areas.

I’d equip furnitures in room where laminated wood flooring are done with rubber castors to prevent scratch.
