The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Adewale Akanbi, is presently attending a meeting of the Osun State Traditional Rulers Council Meeting at the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

Oluwo has never attended the meeting since he ascended the throne almost the same time as the Ooni in 2015.

It was gathered that some Obas had, during the last meeting held on July 4, 2017, raised the issue of the Oluwo and they resolved to go to Iwo to prevail on him to attend this meeting.

The Olojuo of Ido Osun, Oba Aderemi Adedapo, who is the secretary to the Council of Obas and about 40 other traditional rulers were in attendance.

The Ooni of Ife, who arrived at the venue of the meeting last, went round and greeted all the traditional rulers one after the other. All the traditional rulers stood up to acknowledge his greetings.

The Ooni, who presided over the meeting, prayed for the monarchs and the towns each of them presides over.

Oba Ogunwusi said, “It has been long since we held this meeting. The meeting is usually held on a monthly basis. This is not the time to point accusing finger at anybody.

“The Timi (of Ede) came to me and told me that he would not be here because he was traveling out and that he had scheduled the trip before the meeting was called. So also is the Orangun of Ila.

“I greet the Oluwo specially. Like I always say, all of you left here. I am the caretaker here. Unity and the development of our state is very important.

“Some traditional rulers have departed the world since our last meeting. The Olubosin of Ifetedo, Salu Edun Abon and Olulamokun of Yakoyo.

“We should portray ourselves the way we should. We should carry ourselves with dignity and royalty. We should unite and stand as one. Our meeting is about how to bring about development to our state and the nation.

“I greet the Oluwo special, especially being his first time of coming here. Nobody is asking you not to come here. This is your house.”

FoodClique Support Initiative is an NGO leading the fight against hunger while icare Food Bank seek to erase hunger through several initiatives to help people in need.  The Icare Foodbank gives sacks of non-perishable food to the vulnerable in our society i.e elderly, widows, unemployed, e.t.c and encourages the government to mobilize resource to fight hunger through its founder Hon Jimi Benson who is a Federal Lawmaker. It may interest you to know that the Icare Food Bank has through this program fed over 15,000 constituents.

Bolajoko Fadipe who recently returned to Nigeria after participating at the 13th Presidents United to Solve Hunger (PUSH) Summit at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign with the theme "Unify for a Hunger-free World". The Campus Kitchens Projects 5th Annual Food Waste & Hunger Summit at IUPUI Indiana USA eulogize Hon Jimi Benson before presenting a certificate of appreciation to him for being the first lawmaker in Nigeria to establish a food bank. He thanked him for putting aside partisan politics in the fight against hunger and poverty in Nigeria through his partnership with anti hunger advocates. Stating further he said "we are counting on Hon Jimi Benson  and we call on all members of the House of Representatives to remain committed to the longstanding bi-partisan conviction that nobody in this country should go hungry"

In his acceptance speech, Hon Jimi Benson said,  "among my campaign promises was to set up a food bank, bring developments to Ikorodu, sponsor bills that tackles hunger and work with initiatives like FoodClique because this exemplifies the kind of public-private partnerships between the private sector and government that has great promise of delivering help effectively to people in need.

The visit was followed by a tour of the facility of icare FoodBank and a press conference where Hon Jimi Benson announced that he will sponsor new legislation to reduce food insecurity, food waste, and poverty

A Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos on Wednesday remanded a Danish national, Peter Nielsen, who was suspected of killing his wife, Zainab Ali- Nielsen and their three-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Petra.

Chief Magistrate Kikelomo Ayeye remanded Nielsen, 53, in Ikoyi Prison, following an application by the police. Nielsen was docked on a two-count charge of unlawful killing.

Nielsen’s plea was not taken. He was represented by Frank Udoka Amah. Prosecuting counsel, Effiong Asuquo, tendered a three-page application, containing 15 grounds for Nielsen’s remand in prison.

He said: “There is overwhelming forensic evidence linking the defendant to the assault and murder of his wife and daughter. Investigation has also shown that the defendant was habitually violent to his late wife, Zainab.”

According to Asuquo, a fight broke out between the couple in their flat at about 3:00 a.m. on that fateful day. Nielsen was allegedly seen fighting and hitting the deceased’s head on a wall by her two relations, Mimi, 11, and Faith, 13 who lived with them.

She died from injuries sustained from the assault. The prosecutor alleged that Nielsen then poisoned Petra before dragging her body into the kitchen.

Asuquo said: “He took the lifeless little girl and put her under the mother’s body and then put on gas stove burners in the kitchen so that it will be believed that the wife and daughter were suffocated to death by the cooking gas.

It is in the national interest that the suspect remain in prison pending legal advice and his arraignment and trial.” Chief Magistrate Ayeye upheld his prayer. She remanded Nielsen in prison and adjourned the case till May 8 for the DPP’s advice.

OK! , long story short, I really need advice at this point in time. I had an encounter with this particular alhaja, I hope that is correct, while i was in camp(Social gathering) , we eventually got to like each other, because she is always tracking me, while I stylishly do the same..

She's always buying me stuffs and surprising me with gift, and I endeavor to do the same.


After camping, we got to finally meet privately, and we had matured meeting between us. All this while, I never knew she was married, and she never talked about it.

Our friendship seems to be escalating quickly, and personally, I never prayed to have anything to do with a married lady. But with the way situations are, I'm stuck in between the hole of a niddle


She seems to be taking this too far and serious than myself... Please what's your advice and suggestions in regards to this issue.

The Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday uncovered an illegal brewery where malt drinks and fake stout are produced at Egbe-Afa, Igbobo area of Ikorodu in Lagos. Five of the suspects behind the factory were also arrested by a team led by Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, who took newsmen to the scene of the crime.

It was discovered that the illegal brewery produced malt drinks, stout and Ethanol which they pump into trucks to bottle at another location.

According to Imohimi, the suspects would be further interrogated to know where the drinks are bottled and sold.

It's not a big deal.. During my worse moments, I lived in a slum and a grave was directly opposite my room.
At first I was bothered, but who cares, I got more things in my head than to be worried about a lifeless grave. Na there I dey chop my suya and garri for night sef.

Hello all. Pls I wasn't sure where to ask this question. I'm about to pay for a house and I noticed there's a graveyard inside d compound and close to our side of d house (its just 2 flat bungalow. Someone else is already occupying d back flat). We asked and they said d mother of d owner of d house was buried there.

At first I didn't even mind at all but I just thought it wise to ask questions before we pay. Is there anything wrong moving into a house where someone u do not know was buried?

Also I have 2 small boys and expecting a 3rd child and my boys play a lot and I have no doubt that one day they may play to that grave as its at our front yard.

What are ur advice's please? Does it mean? Can we go ahead and stay there? Anything wrong in staying at a house where someone was buried? I'm not afraid I just want to be sure that there's no spiritual consequences or anything of sort

The National Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, on Monday said disagreements and debates that characterised activities of the party lately were hallmarks of progressive politics.

He stated this at the party´s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Monday in Abuja.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had declared that members of the Odigie-Oyegun led National Working Committee of the APC are not eligible to seek reelection in the forthcoming congresses and national convention of the party.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, quoted Odigie-Oyegun as saying ´´I must say that disagreements, debates and contentions are the hallmarks of progressive politics. Therefore, let no one tell you that our party was about to collapse only because we disagreed.

´´In the past days, I have read news reports and all manner of comments and opinions that have tried to frame the majority decision of NEC as an attempt to primarily secure tenure elongation for Odigie-Oyegun and the NWC.

´´This is quite unfortunate because nothing could be further from the truth.

´´If anything, what our experience in the last few days has confirmed is that we can disagree without being disagreeable, and that our party may be young, but we remain the bastion of progressive politics in Nigeria.´´

He commended Buhari for what he described as “his rare act of graciousness and humility’’.

He said that even after opposing the tenure extension as approved by the party´s NEC, Buhari allowed further consideration on the subject “which proved him to be a true democrat and a genuine party man’’.

According to the national chairman, where the President would have imposed his will, he exhibited true leadership by allowing himself to be open to alternative opinions, regardless of his personal interest.

He added that the party´s strength would continue to rest on its ability to forge consensus even from apparently irreconcilable issues.

Odigie-Oyegun charged members of the party to be ready to accept alternative viewpoints as the President had done, even when such viewpoints did not immediately reflect their preferences.

EFCC, on Saturday, April 7, 2018 arrested a suspected fraudster, one Samson Otuedon, at Masaka, Karu LGA of Nasarawa State for currency counterfeiting.

Luck ran out on Otuedon, who specialized in counterfeiting foreign currencies, following an intelligence report on Friday, April 6, 2018 on the activities of a syndicate of fraudsters duping unsuspecting victims in Masaka area of the State.

On arrest, fake foreign currencies totaling over $400,000 were recovered. While being interrogated, Otuedon admitted that the fake dollars were given to him by other members of his syndicate based in Lagos.

According to him, one of their modus operandi was giving people with genuine dollars part of the fake dollars; that way, it is easily infiltrated into the system.

Otuedon, who confessed to the crime, also admitted that the syndicate use fake dollars for money doubling.

A 40-year-old commercial bus driver has been arrested for defiling a 7-year old he calls his wife. the abuse which has been on for a while has now resulted in damaged bladder for the child, who now constantly urinates on herself.

The sad incident happened at a compound in Ilupeju PalmGroove area, Lagos State.

According to New Telegraph, the victim always visited the suspect identified as Baba Michael, but unknown to many, Michael violated the child on every visit.

The abuse came to the open after the girl continuously urinated on herself during an examination in school.

Her school management who suspected sexual violation alerted Child Protection Network when the girl urinated on herself in class.

Mrs. Ka , who spoke to newsmen and was contacted by her daughter’s class teacher said;

Comrade Toyin Okanlawon, The Child Protection Network Coordinator, confirmed that the suspect has been arrested.


“We were able to arrest the suspect through the support of his uncle. My advice to parents and guardians is to take good care of their children, especially the girl-child. They should prevent them from staying in isolated places.”
