Congratulations HephJeanne: My testimony, LONG POST ALERT Disclaimer: PLS SKIP TO THE INTERVIEW PROPER, if you don’t want to read, I had to post this cuz I promised God to do so, also to encourage others. I want to start my returning all the glory back to God because He’s God all by himself, my journey to the abroad started in 2017, at the time I didn’t know how to navigate though nairaland very well, I only knew about the front page so I didn’t have information about GRA,GTA and how to go about the application process. I watched some YouTube videos and I was persuaded to apply to a community college, since I got to know the COA of community colleges is quite low compared to that of a university. I got to know about this travel section nairaland community last year July, after asking for advice from Walspring that helped me pay for my SEVIS fee, I decided to cancel my appointment for the interview for community college just 2 days to the interview, cuz I learnt I might lessen my chances of approval if I can’t explain why the change from a community college to a university in subsequent trials. I decided to start my application for a university, after seeing multiple people applying to BGSU because their COA was quite low, I applied along for the Spring 2022. I went for the interview in December, I was denied, I was sad but tbh, I was quite relieved because I don’t know how I would get money to pay the COA, I saw how a person I know really struggled to survive during his program in North Cyprus on no scholarship, also watched YouTube videos of how people struggled through school, I didn’t want to go through that but I was too determined to go abroad and didn’t mind going through the struggle that’s why I went ahead to apply to BGSU. I honestly thank God because he saw the struggle and kept me from going to BGSU, knowing full well they don’t give scholarship for my course the first year coupled with the fact that they’re not among MPower loan schools , I know I won’t have any support from home either and I’d have to fund myself through school. I decided to through all the pages on the travel section 16 and got the idea of how to go about the GRA /GTA application. I can’t count how many emails I sent to professors in my field I was very determined to get partial/full scholarship and told myself I won’t stop until I get one. When I got denied in December, I started submitting application to different schools, At the time I was working with a small company in Abuja that paid me far less than 100k, I decided to quit the job after staying 3+ years cuz I knew that money if I added it for 6 months might not be up to the amount to pay for flight ticket, na so I travel go Lagos by January to look for better job, to get a new job was difficult, I was thinking to just get a job and work for 6 months to save enough, o boy, work no come, I kept praying and God proved himself mighty and gave me a better job almost three times my former pay. I knew getting this new job at a well known company in my field would also increase my opportunity getting the visa, I got the Job and started working in April, continued my application. By April Texas Tech University gave me an out-of state waiver and I have $26k to pay, where I go see money to pay $26k, I kept applying to other schools, the University of Oklahoma sent me just $3k, na so with vex I sent to the graduate coordinator telling him that I don’t have money to pay for the fees and that I initially informed him that I need GRA/GTA and he encouraged me to apply only for him to say no funding after I don pay $100 application fee. Na so we kept dragging it me and the Professor, that time I dey fast and pray like kilode…, the man had no option than to grant me a partial tuition waiver and a GTA position, that covers almost all my tuition fee, I then collected an Mpower loan for my living expenses to show as proof of funds. Interview date come be another mountain to climb, , I no even think Lagos, cuz how I saw people get denied in Lagos with partial funding, I just fear, no available date na so I join multiple Abuja search groups, some groups kicked me out sef, as I no dey update in time, I initially got 12th Sept, 2022 which is beyond my start date, I applied for Emergency date, the only available date was 18th August, which is late for my GTA resumption date, na so I kept praying, I applied for another Emergency with the same MRV receipt, To God be glory I was approved again, but they give me a date just 2 days away,(I didn’t want to move the date, because I heard there were 2 female VOs on seat, no Korean man, that were approving visas, I was praying for a date to be interview by either one of them), how I go come enter ABJ from Lagos with only a day in between, I know say I no get money for flight, na so I enter night bus on Saturday, usually if I enter night bus from Lagos I get to Abuja latest 12pm, the last time I did this journey was for my Int’l passport and I got to Abuja 8am, the devil really planned against this journey, but God prevailed, I planned on getting to Lagos before 12pm the following day so I can collect my Int’l passport (I applied for renewal and did capture in June, I got notification it was ready on Monday, same day I applied for second EA), only for me to arrive Gwagwada Abuja, the same day of the interview 1:30am, I had to lodge in a hotel at Gwagwalada because of how late I got to Abuja, my interview was for 7:30am, I planned on doing a mock interview a day before my interview because I only did one time when I got the Sept 12th date, but I couldn’t make it, had to go to the interview like that, I was just so unorganized, so worn out, I had to wake up very early to do my prayers, I was literally crying when praying I was just saying I can’t go through all these stress for me to be denied, I’ve always prayed I don’t want to be asked more than 4 questions during the interview and God came through, like he always does, I had to first go to my sisters place to get my passport before going to the Embassy, I got to the by 7:25am I was just singing Cece Winas ‘I believe for it’(..from the impossible, I’ll see a miracle, God I believe, I believe for it). As soon I entered the embassy, the 2 female VO were approving visas left and right, at that time I started praising God cuz I knew I’d get the Visa. Although the VO denied 2 people before me, their responses were really weak, I was so certain of being approved, I just want to Praise God for being faithful. Sorry for the late post, I resumed school quite late, tickets were too high, I just got settled. How God caused my GTA monthly stipends to be increased will be told another day… Interview Proper: 2nd attempt ( I posted my 1st attempt here last year) School: University of Oklahoma 27th July, 2022, 7:30am, 2 female VO, Bald man came in after some time COA: 35,600 Partial tuition waiver& GTA: 19,800 Mpower loan approval: $40,000 Me: Good Morning Officer VO: No response, pass me your documents VO: Have you travelled out of the country before? Me: No, this will be my first time; I’ve been focused on building my work profile VO: Where do you work? Me: I work with xyz Construction Company as a jkl, my daily duties are….cuts VO: Who is taking care of your living expenses? Me: I took out an Mpower loan of $40,000 which would cover for me 2 years course duration, I also have some personal savings which I’ve kept aside to support my travels, My dad will also be serving as a backup if need be, He works here in Nigeria, as axyz at igh (I already included all these as reason for my denial, so she wasn’t even typing much, everything was so fast) VO: take your I20 along blablala bla Me: Thank you very much |

olokings: as a follow up to putting it out there, i will give an expose' to what my profile looked like and how i packaged my application. Long Post alert.
highlights of SOP and tactics for family visa application
start with a good self-introduction: - i prepared a very detailed SOP. this was intentional because i was putting up a family application of myself and 5 accompanying family members, hence what may be usually overlooked at for single applicants / those leaving their family members behind may not necessarily apply to me given i will be subjected to even more scrutiny. I drafted my SOP with a clear table of contents, i wrote it with a title, sub-titles, and bolden+italics for points i needed to highlight of importance. i started my SOP with an introduction to myself as though a typical job interview [name, DOB, educational background, professional certification, career highlights, etc.] framework (it is an interview in a sense isn't it?) stating what my intent (to apply for a TRV [Study Permit], and my dependents' [Spousal Open Work Permit + Study Permit for kids]. I clearly mentioned the school, program, start & end dates with duration in months. (highlighted the attachment of LOA, Tuition Payment [in my case i deliberately paid full tuition because i needed to demonstrate financial stability since someone who is going with accompanying member should have that logically] with tuition payment acknowledgement from my school
To address the following: Why study in Canada? why not study in Nigeria? What are your educational goals? what will be the impact & value of the program you are going for study in your business / employment / future endeavours when you return to Nigeria? what are you job experience / skills gaps / career experience that warrants or establish the need for the study? why the specific university / college chosen? - viewed from the lense of facilities, community, infrastructure, etc. : I further went to add a sub-title where i detailed my employment / carrer profile, an opportunity which i leveraged to deliberately tie the proposed post graduate study to my career progress, highlighting the benefits, value proposition, how acquisition of this additional educational credential will place me above my peer in the office, position me for executive, leadership, and management positions, foster my private professional practice to set up consult after my career (see how i am demonstrating what i will do when i return), how credential & skills documentation a very big differentiator in my office. I specifically highlighted that i have embarked on a post secondary study during the course of my professional career (reemphasizing the value proposition) and how my employer acknowledged the additional qualification (attached the letter) and i was able to participate for further promotion few years later (attached a doc. to this effect). I intentionally mentioned my under grad project and how it positioned me to excel at this current study (further arguing why the study).
Then i moved on to sub-title, "Reason for the Study and Choice of *** school Canada". I started with stating how the program aligns with my professional aspirations, skills i will gain, and the credential will demonstrate experience i have gained in the field for the period i have worked. I stated how the program in the specific school is specially designed for reasons given in the school website, how it resonates with my personal goals. I mentioned that i have sought an unpaid study leave from my employer which was granted (doc attached), how the school is well known for excellence in that course, the community is accommodating and encourage easy transition for international students, learning is experiential, not subject to reccurent strikes and industrial action, cultism et al (see what i did there, why canada & not nigeria), how i prefer to use the opportunity to experience the canadian culture, landscape and serenity which i have researched on the net, as it is a great place for families (see what i did there again?, tactically introducing why travelling with family), mentioned passively that i looked at Europe and west africa, however, based on personal reason (some of which i had mentioned) i prefer to pursue the study in *** school, in *** province, in canada. I also mentioned how the changes ongoing in the industry here in Nigeria warrants talents to upskills and develop further in other to be resilient et al... grammar grammar grammer but you get the gist. i went on to detail the duration, course highlights and how i look forward to excelling with accelerated learning during the study to ensure that i finish with good grades, and on time in order for me and my family to return on **** date back and resume my employment and private freelance practice at home in Nigeria (see what i did there again?)
Now onto the biggest issue, to address What are your home ties? why are you travelling with the family for the study period?- viewed from the lense of Family, Economy, Financial, career prospects, etc. - i sub-titled "Reason for travel with family for study at *** school, province, *** canada: i introduced my spouse, how long we were partners (doc attached), how we are very close and depend on one another for everything (see what i did here, setting the floor why i cannot be without her), highlighted various endeavours we have embarked on together as partners, both academically, professionally, and socially. gave some reasons here and there what we have done to ensure a stable and single unit family, mentioned / introduced our kids all 4 of them, mentioned our property (just one) which we developed together (added property valuation report), and how we love our home. highlighted that we are fully commited to co-parenting, maintaining a single functional family unity for the development of the kids psychologically, emotionally, mentally, academically, etc. because young ones are super impressionable hence we cannot leave them with anyone other than ourselves to raise (see what i did there again, we must do it together & can give them to any one else, appealing to the human nature of the VO tactically). talked about the personal aspiration of my partner. specifically mentioned that i need my family to be physically present with me during the study for emotional support, will provide my partner the opportunity to further pursue her personal goals of self achievement since she will be working whether paid / unpaid to practice skills in a flexible schedule, and i will be happy enough to perform exceptional well academmically (see the idea there now?). i mentioned that i have research *** province, and looked up schools there which fit my kids' educational needs, afterwhich i contacted one and notified them of my intent (attached communique docs, kids passed term results, etc.) and they are ready to accept my kids as soon as we land.
Now, because, my third child (only) was birthed in the US, i mentioned that on *** date, i embarked on family vacation where we had our child (introduced him) in the states, and as a family tradition of witnessing all my kid's birthing, i was present with the siblings. however i highlighted that we ensured that the birthing process was self-pay and in order to ensure that we are not financially indebted to the US govt. we acquired all zero balance receipts for all aspects of the medical procedures (attached everything!!!) after which we returned to Nigeria as soon as the child was cleared for international travel (see what i did there to demonstrate authenticity of return). I further stated that, since i am the primary provider for the family, it will be counterproductive to leave them behind and be sending funds when i am a student with limited working hours myself, hence my resolve to travel with them. I also mentioned that during our stay, the whole family shall be covered by comprehensive insurance to the tune of $****** (attached each persons insure cert), hence we shall not be a burden to the canadian or provincial govt. during the **** months before we return back to nigeria (by now you are seeing the tactics).
in a sub "head proof of home ties" note the flags - i argued that i am employed with **** for *** no. of years (to demonstrate stability), stated my gross annual earnings converted in $CAD which are backed up by paystubs, mentioned the future financial prospects when i return as per promotion at my place of work, stated that my employer although granted me study without pay there is a 100% reabsorbtion rate for study leave returnees, mentioned that i still have over 20yrs of career growth ahead of me hence the motivation to return and continue to climb up the corporate leadership ladder. i also mentioned my financial indebtedness to my bank where i recieve my salaries and how i need to return and reactivate my salaries in order to close out my indebtedness and enjoy my full gratuity and pension when i eventually retire. mentioned when i can access my pension, the physical requirements to process my gratuity (mentioned the amounts), my life insurance (mentioned the amount) which can only kick in if i pass in service and how this secures my family (see the tactic there again, reiterating family commitment). mentioned our jointly built home with value in $CAD. Mentioned my aged mother, & in-laws whom i support financially from time to time whilst specifically highlighting the medical conditions that required routine check up and treatments. mentioned my freelance business practice which just kicked up and how it can grow further with adequate skills documentation, mentioned my professional certifications, small businesses that my partner runs etc.
then i wrapped up with saying how the whole duration for the post study program is one big family vacation & bonding time which will create lasting memories for the kids and my partner which is one of my personal goals after we return on **** date back to Nigeria, hence i have made $CAD****** available for the period to cover tuition and living expenses whether partner works or not (see the closing there right?)
what is your travel history (if your have)? - mention all visa denials with reasons, give one liners to the why you made those travels to demonstrate that you are mostly intentional in all of your ventures. - i talked about all the little little family trips we have taken, both intra&international, even the small ones in my community corner where we have our home (all to demonstrate that we move together and not always without - further burtressing the single family unit mindset). attached each family member travel visa history pages. i mentioned the two denials we have had specifically France in 2014, and USA in 2021 when we wanted to birth our last (4th) child [i was intentional with this because we were interview for medical tourism and denied based on eligibility not met, so if i am not upfront with this, and during info sharing, USA agency flags this, i may be seen as misrepresenting / lieing, so be tactful].
Now onto the mother of them all---- what is your proof of means of financial support (POF)? - state amounts to show tuition + living expense (for full duration of program) + miscelleanous expense + buffer + flight ticket (return). mention any and all spikes in your transactions (lump sums), mention any loan obligations shown as deductions in your accounts (you can even use them as home ties) --- I started with stating that i and my wife will be co-sponsoring this initiative and attached our ONE YEAR bank statements (MBS). stated the source of funds as salary, consulting commissions, partner's sales income, employee emoluments, and other personal excesses. Explained every LUMP SUM (excess of N1m creditted into the account, even employer payments) with verifiable evidences and refernce. Now you need to note that the whole money used for POF was credited into the account exactly 9 days before i submitted my application, and the account was less than N100K worth before then. so what did i do, i didnt pay my tuition from my account, instead i took a loan from a lender, had them pay the money into a colleagues account, and have him process Form A to pay my full tuition for me. I added the tuition receipt and included the cost in my PoF. then, i had a couple of projects i was developing for my employer which they paid to me, (altough that money was to be expended to other team beneficiary by me) i held the money for 3 weeks after applying then disbursed. by the time i disbursed, the account went back to less than N4m which i further disbursed into my crypto wallet. And yes, i used my crypto wallet value as part of my PoF. i simply screenshot my crypto portfolio, my profile page, trade history, crypto platform's email confirmation of trades, email confirmation of credit & debit alerts into & out of my personal account based on crypto trade. Then i prepared a table showing our financial plan for the *** period of stay in *** province, in canada i started with stating how much our total PoF is $CAD85,000.00 required for all 6 of us. aspects of the table includes; program tuition, one year cost of living, extra months remaining cost of living, miscellaneous, flight tickets (return). total the full expense costs. Added a line for amounts paid (tuition), and calculated the outstanding expendition. Added a line for Cash in Bank (PoF) in $CAD, and another line for guaranteed future receipts/income, and another line for fund reserves based on digital crypto wallet in $CAD. i quoted this because i didnt want it to be that we are spending the whole of our life savings on study trip. I added a remarks under the table that i converted the Naira to $CAD at CBN rate, but i converted monies in the Dorm accounts to Naira at prevailing black market rates of US$1 - N580 because using this rates will boost the monies. Then i closed up by saying that the amounts will enable my whole famliy to comfortably live in *** province even if my partner and i didnt work, considering also the fact that i have paid my full tuition (with attached receipt) for the program.
I further added a sub-title were i use bullet points to explained each lump sumps for the one year period, and clarified all my funding sources.
i added a sub-title where i listed all documents attached to the application as categorised.
then i went on to Criminality Background Check, Conclusion, and Prayer: - i stated that during the stay in canada, i and my family will be at ***** province, for ** months starting from *** data to *** date after which we will return to Nigeria on *** specific date to resume my active service with my employer while my partner will return to ***** her personal engagements.
i highlighted that i have a clean record in my home country and place of employ for *** years, and fully commit to conducting myself ethically wherever i am. i further made a commitment statement that i and my family will blah blah blah during our stay and maintain the scope limits of the visas if granted, as well maintain / adhere to any & all governing laws + regulations of canada.
signed my prayers.
PS: also included is letter of sponsorship from my partner to me stating her commitment to co-sponsor this endeavour financially during our stay in the province. i also gave her a co-sponsorship letter doing the same thing in her Letter of Purpose.
caveat: Ayam not a guru / agent / SOP writter / Review. so i will prefer any and all kweshiuns be put up here so the family can collectively attend to it.
na work i no get make me type this epistle as i dey wait make class time reach. lazy man sitdon dey look NL. lol
Best of luck to every one. Wow. This is explicitly informative. Thank you for this Sir. |
You don’t need to activate anything . I honestly don’t think it’s necessary.
I dint do mine and it worked out fine.
Quick one (most important) , your undergrad degree was it a bsc?and what did you finish with ? 2:1 or 2:2 . Asking because I notice you’re going for an undergrad diploma.
What’s your work experience in and does it relate to your under grad Degree ? Or does your undergrad degree relate to this new program you’ll be doing?
You should add your leave approval letter , letter of sponsorship.
You don’t need to change the name on property to yours. It’s not necessary.
But someone once posted his GCMS notes and it was stated that his refusal amongst other reasons is because the company he claims to be working with is inactive on the CAC portal |

Tgbengus151: One minute you are insulting someone, the very next second you are being prayerful. Lmaooooo. Are you Christlike or you are just one of overly religious folks with a bad behavior? Yeah, you can be quite motivating with your prayers and religious posts here, but on the other hand, learn how to respond with people in a polite and tactful manner. I have noticed that there is usually some form of condescension whenever you are giving someone an advice or asking a question from a lost newbie. I am sure this is not the first or second time someone will be saying this but it's obvious you haven't made any effort on that yet. Well... You just wasted your precious time advising her cos she go come insult you as usual. |

I arrived into the Uk (Essex) 2 weeks ago, family of 4 and looking for someone we can share apartment with to save cost. If you just got your visa and need an apartment you can move into right away instead of doing Airbnb, feel free to reach out to me. The apartment is 1hr away from London.
YOU WILL ONLY PAY WHAN YOU SEE THE APARTMENT WITH YOUR EYES. (Viewing)
It is a 2bedroom flat with 2bathrooms, 2 bedrooms and 1 palour. I'm just curious here. If you eventually get someone to take up one of the 2 bedrooms, how would a family of 4 survive in a single room? |

Oluwanishore: LANDING GIST My ticket was booked for 29th August Got to the airport with my family at about 7:09am. The security at the entrance allowed only three people to enter with us. My husband sha went back outside later to bring my mum and mum-in- law in. Our bags were scanned at the entrance and we were directed to some people by the side of the scanner. Those ones were like ehnn we have liquid in our bags and plenty story started..( money things). We proceeded to Agricultural bla bla stand( those ones collected 5k) I don't know who would travel without food in their bags. From there we joined the queue and we're waiting for Ethiopian airlines to open their stand for checking. That took almost 45 mins. All our bags were below 23kg ( my husband closely monitored the packing). He didn't want to pay extra for excess luggage so we weighed less than 23kg from home believing the scale at the airport would not give correct weight( naija things)..well we were surprised cos our luggages no reach 23kg..e pain me sha cos I left some personal items back home. After clearing our bags and showing necessary docs, we took pics with our parents and left for departure ( it was an emotional moment). After that na immigration checking our traveling docs and asking questions. You go come back? Who dey go for study? Who carry who dey go? We sha boarded around 12:30 pm and took off around 1:30pm. Flight to Addis Ababa was smooth, my son slept most of the time and food was okay. We got to Addis Ababa in the night( not sure about the time) and joined another Ethiopian airline flight going to Toronto. We had a 1hr refueling layover in Dublin but didn't disembark. Then we took off for Toronto. The journey from Addis to Toronto seem like forever. It was longgg and tiring. When we got to Toronto, students with family were directed to a separate room where we did self declaration and also registered the identify of those accompanying us. We then proceeded to the desk of the immigration officer. Mine was a woman and she asked for our passport, introduction letter and a receipt of tuition payment. I didn't make any payment because my school didn't require a deposit and I told her just that. She literally looked me in the face and said' I find it difficult granting you access if you can't show any commitments to your school'. I quickly explained the challenges of paying with Form A to her o and told her I had cash with me to do the payment. She asked me how much I had and how much my tuition for a year is. I gave answers to both questions and she said 'fair enough' then she stood up and printed our permits. From there we went to get our bags because Ethiopian airlines dropped them all at Toronto airport. We had to start searching for our bags and trolley to carry them. We checked them( bags)in again for our flight to St John's. At this point, I was just tired and couldn't wait for the trip to be over. We landed in St John's airport around 4pm on 30th August. The stress and journey was all worth it. I also noticed that everything here is a process and in stages. If you have a guide here, be thankful to God. For those who would be traveling with toddler(s)..may God give you plenty doses of patience. My son showed me pepper. At some point he wanted to carry equal bags as myself and my husband , other times he would just refuse to move his tiny legs, and we had like 5 bags with us( 3 carry ons and two extra) we would beg him in English and threaten him in Yoruba. The boy no send us o. This same human would be calm in the plane o and keep other people engaged and entertained. I Pray the Land of Canada favour us all. To all PPR hopefuls, the Lord will answer all your heartfelt prayers and you shall testify. Lmao at the bolded. Congratulations Ma'am. Amen to your prayers |

makano: Hello Nadingo
Your 1st and 2nd questions clearly shows you are a novice which isn't a problem at all, that is why we are here on this forum to guide you.
Now I will summarise the answers to the your 1st and 2nd question.
Yes you can relocate with your family through the Study Permit route (not PGD/PGC route). But you have a high chance going alone and using your other family members as home ties. And when you have your visa, you can apply for a Spousal permit for your spouse and Visiting permit Visa for ur kids. With your second class lower, you can get a PGD/PGC Admission and you can use that to apply for your study permit application and get your Visa.
3. I am not sure about this cos the least you can have is a 2.1 for a Masters degree in Canada. If you last CGPA is high, then you can be lucky with some schools that considers the last CGPA, but I do not think work experience with 2.2 is a requirement for a Master degree Admission in most schools in Canada.
4. Yea, sure.
Peace Thank you so much |

Mehhnnn... It seems PG studies in colleges are far more expensive than in universities. Looking for a 2yr advanced diploma or PGD in business administration or in Communications and I keep seeing like $15k tuition a year and above |

chekz169: Just to share some good news, Keeping a positive mind and believing in your creator remains the key. The same week I got a Canada Visa rejection was the same week I got a US Visa approval. The US consular flipped my passport page by page and counted total of 12 visa's. LMAO and he asked me to explain the purpose of my visit to each of those visa stickers. And when we got to Mexico visa... it ended up in laughter when i told him I visited temptation resort in Cancún. I'm so happy for you |

skull4eva: If it is 1year then applying with family looks somehow except there is a crucial need. Becos you will need to assure the VO that u will return after studies. So going for a two year program is ur best shot. This was my previous advice. The truth is before now some 2years back 1years PGD with family application alongside might have worked. But these days it is tougher to convince a VO that u will return with ur family after 1year program. Also for sure u will get a one year PGWP after 1year program but that is not an issue you just need to get enrolled in another school for another 1year befoee applying gor the PGWP so that u can get 3years PGWP. Also if u decide to go through the one year program alone then move your family in later you dont need to get PR before u apply for them. While you are studying you can apply for them based on emotional reasons. But if it is one year the vo might just overlook it since your program is not long. Hence my advice of a two year PGC or PGD program. Getting a masters with a 2.2 is not easy like i said it is rare to find except your last two final semesters was very high. And moreso you left school like 10years ago so ur best short is PGD or PGC. Yes your PGD or PGC can secure you an Msc after studies but i assure you that except you are very determined you wont ply that route. Because studying after you are used to making money and being a boss isnt a days job so your eyes will be on working immediately after studies You mean there are universities/colleges in Canada who run 2yrs PGD/PGC programs? I thought they are all for a year duration and that was why I was worried. |

bullstriker: 1. You can apply with your family even for a one-year program if you can demonstrate you have sufficient funds and home ties. Otherwise, you can apply alone, then once you get to Canada, send them a copy of your study permit and proof of full-time enrolment for them to apply immediately. If you complete a 1-year program, you will be eligible for a 1-year PGWP; with a 2-year program, you will receive a 3-year PGWP. If you want them to apply after you have completed your studies, you can apply for your PGWP with theirs. For your spouse to be eligible for SOWP, you must work in a NOC A, B or O (Skilled job). 2. Your GPA has nothing to do with this. You can apply together or apply for them when you come to Canada. 3. For most Master’s programs, you need at least a 2.1. However, some consider your GPA for the last two years. 4. Yes, you can. Thank you so much |

Hello. I was meant to understand that for a 1yr PGD/PGC, applying to go with my family of 5 is a red flag due to the duration of the course. I was also meant to understand that I can only qualify for 1year PGWP after a one year PGD/PGC program. This means that it would still be a red flag to apply for my family to join me in Canada at that time due to the duration of my PGWP (1yr). My questions are:
1. Does that mean I can only relocate my family to Canada when I get PR (after may be 3yrs) if I choose to go the route of a PGD/PGC?
2. How does someone with a second class lower degree take his family along to Canada using the study route?
3. Can my 10yr work experience alongside my 2:2 get me a direct Masters Degree admission in Canada?
4. Can a Canadian PGD/PGC be used to secure a Masters Degree admission into a Canadian University?

skull4eva: It depends on your explanation of the study gap. If u are a matured applicant and have the finances to fund ur education and family relocation then why not? But getting a masters with 2.2 is very unlikely its a case that is rare. But getting a college PGC or PGD is very possible and a very good option Thank you. For the 1yr PGC or PGD, would you advice I apply alongside dependants or it is better I secure my permit first before they later apply? |

Solatium: That statement was a response to Lagos Airport, not at the point of entry, it is very rare for a foreign immigration officer to ask you for customs requirements. it's a common thing here, sometimes ago when I was about boarding a Dubai flight,my last point of clearance was NDLEA and this young officer stood in front of me asking for my hotel reservations, i told him point blank that is not his job,guy man comot for road for me to pass. The moment airport officials perceived you are a first time traveller they will intimidate you and exploit you till you even part with your BTA. Guy just admit you were wrong and stop all this merry-go-round. The issue was about TB cert at POE and you claimed an immigration officer has no right to ask for that because TB cert is required for visa processing only. That has been proven to be wrong both officially and practically. You were even told an immigration officer at POE can ask for whatsoever document he feels is relevant to your entry and you claimed they can not try that with you (who are you again?). Talk is indeed cheap. Guys, hold your TB cert (e no even heavy) in your carry-on and whatever document you feel can be asked at POE. Cooperate with 'em immigration officers and enter successfully cos that is the whole idea. Good luck. |

Pls can a second class lower degree with a 12yr study gap and about 8yrs working experience get me a Masters admission in Canada? If yes, what are the prospects of getting entry for my family of 5? |
