omenka:You couldn't have said it any better. It's about time Nigerians realise that freedom of speech carries responsibility; you cannot just incite or mislead ppl into hate and unrest, and subsequently expect no consequences. The politics of lies and fake news must be checked; being in the opposition is not a licence to distort the truth and incite hatred; if you must criticise then criticise correctly and accurately based on facts. Those opposed to the increased penalty are typically bitter jingoistic local champions or failed politicians and their supporters who thrive on poisoning the minds of our young ppl with hate and division. Dr. Obadiah Mailafia with his recent fake Boko Haram governor allegation being an immediate example of such ppl - such persons should face the consequences of their irresponsible utterances; if only to deter others from same. |

So says the STUPID BOY.
|
Ijawwomaninoyo:My friend, do not argue over an issue you hardly understand. If you are ignorant; not all of us are. Blasphemy is indeed a crime, even under international law e.g. European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) - google is your friend. https://www.thenewfederalist.eu/echr-you-shall-not-blaspheme-against-religious-prophets?lang=fr Now who is the STUPID BOY then? |
Ijawwomaninoyo:If you were not so ignorant about what is on the ground you would have noticed that the situations are unrelated and occured at different times (murder 2018 & blasphemy 2020) and prosecuted by different law enforcement agencies (police & Hisbah) as per their jurisdictions respectively. |
Supan:Just as you were able to quote his baseless allegations/propaganda you should also be able to quote his retraction and propuse apology, when challenged to substantiate his claims - suddenly, his intelligence network turned out to be unidentified market traders who he interacted with. Obadiah Mailafia is among some of the irresponsible leaders inciting hatred through blatant lies for political gain and therefore propagating the vicious cycle of revenge and counter reprisals. |
Ijawwomaninoyo:Read carefully and use your brain before rushing to comment. Was she arraigned before a HIGH court or a SHARIA court? - hope you know there is a difference the two. |
IduNaOba:Heads of maritime agencies in Nigeria have agreed to work on modalities for the movement of cargo by barges from Lagos ports to Onitsha, in Anambra state so as to ease traffic in Apapa. You didn't bother to read, even though it is out there written boldly ( 2nd paragraph) you just had to rush and wail - why must you guys be so negative? |
YorubaRitualist:Answer my question; and pls, stop advertising your bigotry and ignorance. |
Dishonesty, exam malpractice, certificate forgery etc; we know them, many are also here in Nairaland, ironically also shouting 'Buhari no get certificate' |
YorubaRitualist:You sound so pained, as though I have hit a very sensitive nerve. Are you by any chance among those unpatriotic elements, always insulting and responsible responsible for de-marketing this country abroad with their obnoxious toxicity? |
Nonsense! So the deregistration of one man and the view of another (a mere minority) is enough to give cause for concern and make front page? - talk about naked propaganda. I am sure if they dig enough they will find even more opposition against some of those also included as speakers on the list. |
Nbotee:You obviously didn't read that part where he mentioned DRONES - what do you think they are meant for? |
Admissionclass:Yes go ahead and blame everything but the real cause i.e. the innate nature of the ppl, who export their arrogant selfish shameless criminal tendencies abroad and try to justify it as hustle. |
Nbotee:Sharia does not supercede the constitution but recognised and accommodated by the constitution, under the rights to freedom of religion. However, where the two clash; the constitution takes precedence over Sharia e.g. the conviction of this boy is likely to be overturned on appeal to the supreme court because the latter would never accept him as a minor and therefore quash his conviction by the former as an adult. Nigerian prisons are federal institutions mandated to hold in custody convicted criminals without prejudice; they have no powers to discriminate in this matter. |
This only confirms suspicion that their chest beating figures are largely exaggerated through exam malpractice and certificate forgery. You get to see this, first hand, at job interviews and in employment where many of them perform below their paper qualification - and leaves you wondering how they managed to have passed their exams. |
greatiyk4u:You can say that again. |
As usual.
|
That road is not worth repairing for now; until the government is prepared to decongest and reclaim it from big retail traders; who have completely taken it over as their own and completely blocking it with heavily ladened supply trucks; therefore rendering impassable and a no go area for ordinary citizens. |
Cannibal wife. |
These are the kind of irresponsible ppl who deliberately spread baseless divisive allegations without proof. |
I agree, it is a weighty allegation which should not be swept under the carpet. Mailafia must substantiate his allegation by naming the alleged governor; otherwise he should be prosecuted for peddling Fake News with a view to inciting public unrest and disharmony. It is becoming evident that the story was baseless (a political propaganda); unable to prove his claim, Mailafia has apologised and already telling a different story that he got his information from traders he interacted with - can you imagine? https://www.pressreader.com/nigeria/daily-trust/20200814/281505048577603 |
Soon you'll hear them fighting over money as the scam is revealed. |
Chii59:Just as I thought. |
Chii59:Let me educate you a little bit: Islamophobia was coined to describe ppl like you who hate Islam - often out of irrational fear and misinformation about the religion. When it comes to violence; a well researched study revealed the Bible was more violent than the Quran. https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/books/violence-more-common-in-bible-than-quran-text-analysis-reveals-a6863381.html When it comes to actual killings: again Christians have been more responsible for human deaths than Muslims. Furthermore, studies in both UK and America revealed biased news reporting (by Christian dominated media) responsible for distortion and negative misrepresentation of Muslims as terrorists. https://mcb.org.uk/report/state-of-media-reporting-on-islam-and-muslims/ https://ethicaljournalismnetwork.org/resources/publications/innocent-mistakes/united-states-media-bias-and-the-anti-islam-message In other words: do not believe the hype; wake up and smell the coffee.
|
Chii59:Address the issues I raised intelligently and prove me wrong - if you can, that's all. |
IPOB miscreant. Tomorrow they will shouting marginalisation and lopsided development. |
Chii59:It seems to you have a very poor capacity for objective thought and reasoning. Pls explain to me how just 3 examples of alleged extrajudicial killings of non Muslims amount to the application/imposition of Sharia law on non -Muslims by the state. Are you in any way suggesting that extrajudicial killings do not happen in the south - lest I recall how many of your kith and kin you frequently naked and roast alive in your streets for as little as stealing an ordinary necklace or even soiled lady's pant. Do you know that that majority of our laws were inherited from the British (in colonial times) who in turn derived them from Cannon (Christian) laws. I will not even bother to respond to the other trash you wrote because it is unintelligent and therefore a waste of my time. |
WiseAnt:We know how you ppl have been rewriting the Bible and revising your religion over the years to suit your evolving taste; such that today there are several versions of the said same Bible. Still let me remind of one or two that you may not have read or eradicate/edit out from your scripture. JESUS SANCTIONED THE KILLING OF UNBELIEVERS. Luke 19:27 Jesus says-bring those who do not believe me here and slay them b4 me! Note: I deliberately did not refer to the myriad of examples you can easily find in the Old Testament because many of you (unsurprisingly) seem to reject the Mosaic laws as outdated even though it is part and parcel of your holy scriptures. |
Chii59:Stop speaking from a narrow shallow perspective about something you hardly know let alone understand. It may interest you to know that many of your ilk, including the Christian party of Nigeria (CAN) have tried and woefully failed to have the Sharia penal code repeal. Yes indeed, Nigeria is a secular state; and the beauty of this secularity is that it recognizes and embraces the diversity of its ppl, as well as the right to freedom of religion for its citizens. Muslims are happy and comfortable with their Sharia laws; Christian must accept and respect that; especially as these laws do not apply to them. BTW, if you are not so ignorant about your own religion (I am assuming you are Christian) you may want to note that the Bible prescribes the said same stupid laws you mentioned e.g. death by stoning etc; in fact Mary the mother of Jesus was betrothed to her husband Joseph (then a very old man in his 70s) at about 13 years old - all you need to do is read your Bible carefully and avoid being too quick to condemn and ridicule other ppl's religion, because there are probably worse examples in yours. |
WiseAnt:If Islam is confused then what would you say of Christianity which also prescribes the same thing. LEVITICUS 24:10–16 “Whoever blasphemes the name of the Lord shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall stone him. The sojourner as well as the native, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death” (v. 16). |
Charmingrascal:Some of you espouse illogicality and ignorance as though you have no education at all. If you and your ilk can read at all, you would have noticed Shekau not only supported the death penalty but questioned the rationale of wasting time taking the culprit to court instead of executing him instantly. Many of you are hypocritical or ignorant of the fact that Christianity condemns blasphemy - according to the BIBLE the punishment for blasphemy is also death. LEVITICUS 24:10–16 “Whoever blasphemes the name of the Lord shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall stone him. The sojourner as well as the native, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death” (v. 16). Of course I know many of you are into denial and may want to overlook it. |
