- The north hardly ever complained about repatriation of her indigenes by southerners.
- It only complained when her citizens were being profiled and illegally detained and registered as potential Boko Haram suspects.
- On the other hand, SE went up in uproar when Fashola began repatriating her citizens along with others from Lagos - even though they were guilty of doing same to others.

Stop lying and deceiving yourself with useless propaganda; the south had been quietly repatriating northerthers for years without anyone raising an eyebrow; it was only when some (SE) states started illegally and discriminatorily detaining northerners as boko Haram suspects; as well as insisting on registering and issuing them with specific I.D. at the exclusion of all others that northerners complained.
Ironically; it was the same S.Easterners who began wailing as soon as Fashola (the then governor of Lagos state) commenced repatriation of beggars/destitutes including their own sons and daughters out of the state - even though their governors were doing the same to others.

What a civilised and tolerant community; unlike some examples we have here where they have have taken their bigotry and hatred to another level.

There are rules and standards which should apply to all without exception; these (consultant) doctors who are also employed as lecturers for medical students simply want to be exempted from the NUC criteria for lecturers without any justifiable reason; other than they are doctors who also see patients.

Here is break down....Siemens was contracted for the whole value chain. Discussion started in 2018 between governments of Nigeria and Germany but the deal with Siemens was signed in 2019.

What happened inbetween, why are they now "mulling" giving the contract to Siemens? It has nothing to do with phases or product area at all. There is a breakdown in political interface somewhere in the diplomatic services. We dont know yet....but it will come out sooner or later.

It is irresponsible to suggest that the contract is piecemeal without full knowledge of the scope of the agreement and authorization.

Accordingly the scope included[b] rehabilitation, upgrade and expansion[/b]: pls explain to me how does that automatically translate into cancellation of the contracts and subsequent eviction of existing players within the value chain - as the govt is currently mulling over doing to the DISCOs within the distribution sector?

A discerning mind would easily conclude that Siemens is being brought in as an additional player and not necessarily an exclusive/replacement (monopoly) within the system.

Note: I am not claiming to be an authority on the power issue in Nigeria; but simply drawing my conclusions based on the power of competent reading and logical deduction on available information - I'll advise you to do the same; unless of course you are privileged with more superior information not available to us.

Follow that up with Siemens reputation for bribery and money laundering and its indictment and conviction in US for multiple violations across the globe......including one that Abubakar Atiku's wife, Jennifer Atiku was caught in when she acted as front for her husband to launder money in return for a bribery and Telecomms Contract Award.

If Atiku is not good for Nigeria's leadership because he is corrupt why is a convicted Siemens good for Nigeria's power development?

DAWN should start drafting a strategy to extricate Yorubaland from dependency on national power grid.

Siemens is only going to take our money, in ten years time we will be worse than we are now.

Agreement was signed on transmission (i.e. improving grid network capacity); govt is currently mulling over doing also same to the distribution network (due to the apparent incompetency and failure of the DISCOs): Transmission and Distribution are two different things - pls let us not confuse issues.

Long overdue; the Jonathan administration simply sold off NEPA to their connected PDP friends and cronies; most of whom had not the required experience; technical capacity and the financial resources to operate such companies.

How I wish they'd start off with my state distributor KEDCO for its greed, insensitivity and incompetence - they'd collect subscriber revenue but would not remit same to the transmission company (TCN) resulting in amassing huge debt and being disconnected at the expense of their helpless customers.

Imagine having to needlessly tie down huge resources on so many generators, just to meet your basic needs (5 nos. for me, ranging from tiny Tiger a.k.a I pass my neighbour, to a 20 KVA soundproof, diesel @ 2.5M, paid just today) because you cannot rely on your local vendor.

I am sure many will agree that our economy will quickly pick up once we can solve our power supply problem.
