hehehehe. . . . were you not the one supporting Erastus Akingbola and Cecelia Ibru them. . . . whats the difference between them and Bode George?. . .they are all thieves. . . . .certainly, a big economy means nothing if Govt monies are swindled by politicans. . . .I suspect a large portion of Nigerias GDP comes from Government spending . . . . if the Government spending truly filters down to the people, then as our GDP grows, we should have better standard of living. . . . . but as we all know, what we classify as "Government spending" in our GDP calculation is actually a false figure because all those monies are diverted to foreign accounts.
Not supporting Sanusi expecially his procedure which look highly prejudiced does not automatically translate to support for Cecelia and Akingbola.

I never posted anything here to defend their personalities , however I believe it is only normal to ask sanusi questions when a fair appraisal of the process of the bank "cleansing " so far makes it almost impossible to be silent.

Afterall CBN just confirmed that Unity bank only has liquidity problem but not distressed.

Ghana is nowhere near Nigerias economy. In economic terms, when they talk about economies growing or contracting, they are talking solely about GDP. Yeah Ghana may have a better standard of living, perhaps a better GDP per capita, but their economy is certainly nowhere as big as ours. Like someone said, I doubt whether Ghana's whole economy is as big as Lagos sef.  grin
I think economists have always contibuted immensely in bringing down this project called Nigeria with all these rhetorics. What use is a "BIG" economy and "BIG GDP per capita" when it does not in any way translate to better living standards.

Oh I think I am begining to understand this vision 2020:20 better now. Its all about a big economy of unequitably distributed income , where we will produce many more copies of  Bode George, Tony Anehne et al, while living standards keep deteriorating.   cry cry cry cry

PoliticsRe: Yar'adua Threatens To Shut Down AIT by naso2(m): 6:05pm On Oct 27, 2009
Most forumites who  have not even watched the program before just respond because it is now popular to criticise government. Please lets appraise on a case by case basis.

Is Yaradua sick? Yes
Is the government working enough for commendation? I DONT THINK SO

We should not on the basis of the above support Gbenga in all he does expecially at times when he goes overboard.

I think Gbenga with bravery trod the popular path of criticising government from the Obasanjo days and find it a worthy vocation now, even when it appears to run fowl of journalistic ethics. I watch his program and sometimes from the Panelist he invites you will clearly see that he makes it difficult to have a balanced view of issues. I find that very unhealthy.

The government rather should have used some of his many flaws to harass  him legally instead of this threat to the entire AIT.

We all want freedom of speech, however there is no society in the world were you are absolutely free to say anything you like all the time as an individual . IT IS EVEN MORE WORRISOME WHEN A JOURNALIST EXPLOITS THE SYSTEM TO PROMOTE UNBALANCED REPORTING.

I am not a pro-government person but the truth must be said.

Everybody is just playing to the gallery. Who does not know that we need to diversify. But how?
Manufacturing is in a sorry state because of the non-existent power. We all know that broadening our revenue base will not happen on the fly, there will be a gestation period.

I will rather want the Exective/legislature to be more disciplined in how the oil revenue is spent now. Not this lip service they pay while they are busy milking the Nation.
BusinessRe: Sanusi Says: Bank CEO's Should Be Tied To Stake And Shot Dead. by naso2(m): 7:27pm On Oct 26, 2009
sometimes one wonders why people can not just be fair in appraising issues like this.

I have always made it clear that sanusi does not seem to be going about his job as a professional. First it was 10 banks he audited on the premise that they accountted for EDW and subsequently Interbank transactions. He then sacked five CEO's declared five banks weak and "injected" funds into the banks (that is if funds were really injected)

There were then questions from all quarters why the choice of 10 as against the 24 banks , he said that was based on empirical data they(CBN) had and that the other banks will be audited but he did not expect any more CEOs to go as the CBN had taken care of the bad cases. People defended the CBN's stance here on NL.

After the second audit some other CEO's were sacked with the explanation from CBN that some of their cases was as bad(if not worse ) as the the first batch.

Looking at Sanusi's initial utterances and subsequent subtle rebuttals , I am forced to question the authenticity of the records the CBN works with.

Now the FG has come to defend thepetroleum marketers who have a sizeable chunk of the unsecured loans , that their loans have not gone bad. Excatly the same call one of the CEO'S was asking the presidency to do before their sack.

If the CEO'S were corrupt as claimed , couldnt sanusi have removed them without this style of trying to bring the entire house down?

TOO MANY QUESTIONS MY PEOPLE.
SportsRe: Siasia Quits Youth Football by naso2(m): 8:54am On Oct 26, 2009
@EARLMAGIC
We may go on and on about the atlanta team but it remains that we differ on two grounds

1. That when a team is down by one goal a good coach must always replace a midfielder/defender with a striker.
2. That when your opponent is one man down, you just spread your play by expanding the field and  beat the 10-man team

1.My position is simply that when a team is down there is no universal rule that says a good coach brings in a extra striker. A coach has several good options like replacing his strikers with the ones on the bench,or asking the midfielders to move up into the opponents territory.

That Bonfrere Joe did it and it worked does not make it the standard, if so I may want to ask why he did not do that when we were beaten by liberia and sierra leone (lowly rated teams) in the build up to korea/japan 2002.

It is only wise that when a team is down , the coach does not commit tactical blunders in a bid to get an eqauliser and allow the leading team get an "insurance goal". Every coach knows that once it is still a 1 goal lead  you still have a chance to even scores up to the last second. Chelsea Vs Barca is one example that even when a team is down by own goal it will be foolish  to get so ambitious and sacfrice your defense. Barca eqaulised almost in the last minute, there was no substitution in line with your suggestion.

In the olympic final Siasia threw enough of his men upfront and everyone knows that on a luckier day we sure would have had an equaliser.

2. Football is like a chess game , when you think only for the 11-man team , you miss it completely. Yes when a team is one man up , expanding play is an advantage but that may count for nothing in terms for goals if you dont look at what your opponent is doing.

When a team has 10 men , the coach tells the boys to  cede certain portions of the field to the opponent , guard its final third and wait to catch the opponent on a counter.Just what Germany did. So expanding play and all that may not make much difference

Secondly when a team with very tall players like Cameroun,Germany, senegal go one man down, because of the average pace/reach of each player they sometimes need only slight positional adjustment to minimise the effect of the one man shortage.

EARLMAGIC:
Siasia though took Nigeria to the finals the Olympics and under 20 world cup, His ability to read a game and make the right tactical changes are questionable. In both finals when we were losing to Argentina he could not make brave substitutions. Every football coaching manual would tell you that when you are losing in a knockout stage of a competition you should sacrifice a midfielder or defender for an attacker as there is no difference if you lose 10-0 or 1-0 in a finals. Remember Bonfree Jo taking off Mobi Okparaku in the semi finals and finals of Atlanta 96 and bringing in an attack minded player on both occasions (Wilson Oruma and Emmanuel Amunike Respectively).
Which kind analysis be dis one now? abeg make we hear word.

Which coaching book says when you are 1 goal down you have to replace a midfielder or defender with  an attacker? Everybody na coach for nigeria now. In Atlanta Mobi was injured go and watch that match again, and a coach may decide to do that if either his team is sustaining pressure on the opponent to equalise or/and if the defending team is replacing a midfielder/attacker with a defender. In that game Brazil was replacing their key strikers like Ronaldo and sitting back to absorb pressure and kill time.  Yes sometimes a coach brings in an attacker to replace a defender but my friend it not so linear.  Dont come here judging Siasia with this "nursery school " analysis.

When Yemi tella's team was down by 1 goal to columbia 10  minutes to the end of the game, did he replace a defender with an attacker before we equalised and won?

Even the best coaches have their bad days , it was just a bad day for siasia BUT HE REMAINS A GOOD COACH ANY DAY.

A lot of the posters hear that have risen to completely rule out the ladies culpability here are not real.

The truth is the problem could be one or a combination of the following:

1. The lady (spiritual)
2. You (spiritual)
3. you (attitudinal)

Just be prayerful and stop any pre-marital sex.
RomanceRe: Since I Met Her, I 've Been Having Bad Luck by naso2(m): 1:11pm On Oct 21, 2009

The first advice I have for you is to stop any sexual relations with her (if any exist), Sex has a very strong spiritual side that can make or mar anyones life. It goes beyond just flesh, there is also the conjugation of spirits. Please do not get me wrong, I am not saying she is evil, however it could still be that she carries some spiritual liability that she does not even know. Once you stop any sexual moves , even when you keep dating her, you would have minimised any negative influence the relationship might be having on your life.

Secondly, have you dated other girls before that you really loved? what was the experience like? Did it have any influence on other aspects of your life? I am asking because it could as well be a spiritual liability on your side.

Also check her faimly. If she has sisters, how are there relationships/marriages. I have heard of a family where everyone that got married to the ladies ended up being financially dependent on the women. The men lost their jobs/business packed up etc.

On a lighter note , all dis one wey u dey say u no fit sleep when she no dey there, you sure say love never shack you reach where you forget to be serious with your work/business or life generally. I mean check yourself and attitude properly.

As a man , my friend you need to understand that there are times you have to think alone and get a clearer picture . I no like dis one wey anytime you dey think she go call you bla bla bla. I hope its not some form of manipulation.

Finally you need to be prayerful to unravel whatever could be wrong.

My friend a man that has excelled only by coaching a club with immense financial muscle to acquire any player he desires can not be my best coach.

He does not have national team experience where a coach can not buy players but has to grind results with just what the nationals have to offer. When he does that I can reckon with him.

SportsRe: Micheal Essien V Mikel Obi by naso2(m): 12:09pm On Oct 20, 2009
Africason:
The only thing i will give Mikel is he huffs and puffs for nothing but hey, as you rightly said age is on his side so he can still learn. As for him being the better passer of the ball, i bet to differ. The guy always passes sideways. Watch Chelsea matches and you'll realize which of them has accurate piercing passes. Essien always find the killer passes.
I am sincerely not aware of killer passes from Essien may be you need to give examples.

As for mikel he passes sideways and backwards many times , however when he decides to pass the ball forward his passes are world class. The problem is , he does it so effortlessly that he goes unnoticed.
I give you two examples

1. Arsenal VS chelsea at emirate last season, the goal scored by ashley cole was as a result killer long range pass from mikel but nobody acknowledged it , if it was a lampard or ballack that gave the pass there would have been applause everywhere.

2. Chelsea VS cLUJ which chelsea needed to win to stay in the CL. When it was 1-1 Mikel gave a clean killer pass to Joe cole which Drogba converted to get the second goal. Nobody acknowledged Mikel.

Africason:
As for the 'positional discipline and man marking' thing, it all depends on the topposition. Essien singlehandedly destroyed Gerrard(Liverpool) when they met in UCL. He marked and terrorized Gerrard out of the game completely. If you want to shackle someone, put Essien on him and the job is done. He will even follow that person to the loo(washroom)! Lol grin. Essien tends to bomb forward when the opposition isn't much of an opposition and when he's told to stay put, he does that exceptionally well as well.
Yes Essien did well against Gerrard in the first leg, he however was unable to cope against Alonso and Benayoun in the second leg. If mikel put up such a showing, you can be sure he would have been scored much lower. Mikel too has squared up against Gerrard on many occassions and has not done badly.Mikel was put against Del peiro and he did very well. After the Chelsea Vs Barcelona match in camp nou, foreign commentators gave much of the credit of the 0-0 feat to the Mikel and Essien for making it impossible for Barca to create anything from the middle. Mikel and peter czech got joint highest scores on chelsea side.

Essien is an excellent player but i must confess that Mikel's contributions (at least in chelsea) go unnoticed most times.

Who is the best as a player ?

You decide.
May be you want to change your question to "who is better" first you can not have a best from just two options.

No doubt Essien is a stronger brand from club and country pedigree. He is acknowledged as one of the best DMs. His core strengths are his ability to support the attack, long range shots and  his ability to play multiple roles (utility player). I must quickly add that because of the name he has built over time, he is rarely criticsed  even when he plays poorly

Mikel on the other hand has better positional discipline, is a better man-marker and passes the ball better. His weakness is poor shooting and unwillingness to take some risks and support the attack.

We have to note however that Essien has reached about the peak while Mikel still has big room for improvements.
