To achieve this , you may have to mutallab everyone in the NFF.
SportsRe: African Nations Cup: Egypt Vs Nigeria - (3-1) by naso2(m): 1:53pm On Jan 13, 2010
At times like this I try to be as objective as I can , yes we lost and the response after we went 1-2 down was not inspiring . I however think we however need to see the positives too.

If the team had maintained the tempo, guile and general team chemistry with which they started the match in the first half , I would not have felt bad even if the scoreline ended worse.

My grouse however is with Amodu and his clumsy match reading style. The Egyptians adjusted well in the second half but we couldnt.

I do not think Taiwo had a bad game, however the left back was one area the egyptians  exploited expecially when TT overlaped. Do I blame TT? certainly not. It all comes down to team tactics. When a team plays wing backs like what TT was doing yesterday then the DMs ETUHU AND AYILA (Mikel did not play as a DM yesterday)  have to properly cover for him, but that was lacking in the second half.

Yakubu had no business staying even 60mins on that pitch ystday. Mikel should have been retained as that would have made KANU more dangerous. There was nobody to bring the ball upfront to the opponents danger area after Mikel left.

Kanu was now forced to come get the ball at areas that would require him to make some runs, and as expected even in his best days he had problems with speed, so he was easily checked.

I still do not believe in Amodu anyway, a coach like him will enter the Argentina WC match with a damage control mentality and that will be detrimental in every way.

It still beats my imagination that Amodu in his "wisdom" was inches away from dropping our best player on the nite (Obasi).

Why was ADELEYE dropped?

pixiraver:
The most overrated footballer ever to havee come out of Naija is Mikel John Obi, he shouldn't be in the team, he kills the play. Tactically Amodu is very poor, after Egypt equalized they sat back and waited for us and hit us on the counter, what is the purpose of having 2 defensive midfielders if they can't even cover the defenders?

Yobo was poor, Nwaneri was poor, Taiwo is better used as an attacker than a defender, Uche and Yakubu were hardly fed with good balls, MIKEL IS THE CAUSE OF OUR PROBLEMS!
This is coming so late, yes it has to be another Mikel bashing thread. Abeg leave the boy alone. It was not a brilliant display from him but was not bad either.

Sagamite:
I wouldn't blame TT for that that much as I saw him running box to box.

It was Zidan that was running there several times, the CB needs to commnucate with the DM so he can follow and the DM should fall in centre back.

We lack leadership in that team, someone vocal and commanding.

I would elect (if he is fit), Shittu is given captaincy. Even if he is not vocal (he is) his commitment would be loud. Or Odems!
The truth is Amodu should not ave dropped Adeleye , yes he made some mistakes against Tunisia in Nigeria, but his anticipation is excellent and only defenders like that can cope with attackers like ZIDAN.

Nwaneri is Just energy and nothing more, who could be useful when we play black teams with very muscular defenders, but in a match like this , he simply does not fit.

Yobo is calamity personified.

I dont like AMODU I have always supported his sack, I also dont like the way we lost, however I see positives at least from the first half display. The first half display was the typical Nigerian flair  but they lost it in the second half.

Its now up to the team to respond in the remaining matches.

The Egyptian coach showed his tactical superiority in the second half. Amodu came with one attacking option which was to attack only from the right side. The Egyptians had problems with that in  the first half but coped well in the second. They(Egypt) however saw our defensive flaws expecially from the left back and exploited well. A good coach comes with a plan but also reads a match rightly to make necessary adjustment. AMODU SURELY DOES NOT HAVE THIS.

I do not know what Amodu sees in Ayegbeni that he leaves him on the pitch to stroll for the entire match.

On a final note, whatever happens in this competition is a win-win for me. If Amodu does not do well, he will be sacked (I never liked him), however if he does well and responds to the remaining matches appropriately then we may just end up lifting the cup (very very unlikely though).

@xkz I salute you , very excellent posts.
@paddy_lo i always respect your views.

I have read through a lot of comments and must state that the logic of most here that the National assembly should have kept quiet becuase, they  by our generally assement have failed in their primary function is wrong logic.

It is painful that we find ourselves in this mess at this time when it is their are incentives for any nation to hurt Nigeria in every way possible, the cases of 419,drug peddling ,money laundering, general insincerity have not in any way helped our image (this madam nafdac was just doing nonsense). The truth is that only  very few nations will take sides with Nigeria even when it is very glaring that the US have  been high-handed in this. Even nearby Ghana could shock us with its leaning on this.

I will blame Dora and Ojo madueke for not professionally cashing in on the parts of the Mutallab story that seem to favour us early enough. They did little to sensitise the world on points that would have presented Nigeria in a better light. How many fathers will go report their son for suspected terrorist tendencies?

On a more serious note however, the real issues may just have little to do with the immediate Mutallab case. I have a funny feeling that the US through its intelligence agencies would have had every detail of the planned attack where simulations may have been done to guage the likely worst-case scenario ,but decided to lie low. Infact the guy that foiled the attempt may have been an under-cover CIA operative. This may have been a design to set Nigeria up for a bigger scheme which we are seeing now. Remember they have predicted the breakup of the nation on or before 2015. It could just be a case of working from the answer.

The truth is with this listing , even someone like me that have vehemently supported a one-Nigeria theory knows that the nation could just be a few more religious riots  away from  total breakup.

Like someone  said here, the battle for the economic and political soul of the Nation between the west and other interest expecially Arabs could be the issue here. A look at the make up of the economic team and some pronouncements of SLS about flaws of western banking should heighten concerns amongst Western nations. Remi Babalola the only Non-northerner in the Economic team is a staunch Aresekola boy. I no fit shout. Issues of AFRICOM and some other concessions that the west seem to be craving are also not helping matters. Infact there is the theory that June 12 was annuled on the strenght of percieved concessions Abiola planned to give the west which key nothern figures saw as too dangerous.

All what I said above could just be figments of my imagination that dont actually represent the realities on ground.(At least i am humble enough to admit).

The implication of this listing  is that it would affect our relations with the entire west and a host of other nations.Hence it should not in any way be treated lightly.

I strongly support the move of the NA except that they should have been a little more careful with the time frame given. This however should not be the only tool/avenue to be explored in resolving this. The country should now start opening channels for other softer forms of negotiations . Most times in international diplomacy, wars are fought with different tools and a Forceful stance is sometimes the best precursor a for better round-table jaw-jaw in future.

PoliticsRe: Poll Rates Soludo Voters’ Favourite by naso2(m): 10:12am On Jan 04, 2010
@chidichris

I see you cant hide how much you loathe OBJ. Though i do not hate him , i however see areas where he did not act discretely , at least for posterity sake. However we have to appraise the issue here beyond OBJ and see the offerings of each of these candidates.

A closer look at frontline political parties only show that though the wrappings are different, they are however in the words of Jimi Agbaje "same of the same" in content. Tell me the difference between Tony Aneneh and Tinubu and i will tell the difference between six and half a dozen.Tell me the difference between Orji Kalu in his PDP days (with all the MOTHER EXCELLENCY TALES) and his new political ideology in PPA? Or do we talk about ATIKU,Audu ogbeh etc?

Presently we have three governors who from polls are deemed to be doing well, Fashola ,chime and Rotimi Ameachi. Two of this governors are from PDP, yes you will say Ameachi was not endorsed by PDP , then I will ask about chime who got the endorsement and sponsoship of EBEANO and by extension OBJ.

Look at ABIA state, one of the states that broke free from OBJ's hold and tell me what theodore Orji has offered the people?

The point is we have to look beyond the party now and consider the individual and the possibilities that abound. Soludo stand head and shoulder higher than all the other contestants in Anambra.

As I stated earlier , a candidate with national clout and enough active years ahead of him, who will not be difficult to sell to other nationalities is what the Igbos should be preparing for 2015. Though soludo is not the only Igbo man in my view that falls in the cadre, I make bold to state that he deserves a serious look in.

I am for Soludo any day, aside Chime in Enugu , I see Soludo as the man from the SE that will give Fashola some competition in terms of performance.

Strategically I think Anabrarians should give this man all the support, if he performs and the PDP zoning continues , I see him as the man that would readily be accepted by other nationalities for the presidential ticket in future. Before you ask please note that I am not from the south east

Sources confirmed that if Tinubu impeaches Fashola, AC will definitely loose Lagos state in the subsequent election, as Fashola will decamp to Labour Party, and then will use power of incumbency to return himself as Governor in 2011.
Which kind contradiction be dis one? person wey dem impeach still get power of incumbency?.

I am with BRF all the way but he has to be very careful ,Nigerians are very fickle ,Tinubu camp may come up with one abracadabra and people will just forget all Fashola's good works so far.

At the U20 world youth championship in Holland 2005, Michael Obi, and Taiye Taiwo were runners up and second runners up to Lionel Messi. After four and half years, Lionel Messi wins world MVP award. But Mikel and Taiwo were no where to be found. Hence, am asking, what do you think is wrong?.
When will you guys quit this line of analysis and allow mikel  and taye taiwo  be? Messi being mvp and so what?

Do you know that since the U-20 fifa competition started 32 years ago, only maradona and messi have won the mvp and moved on to be world footballer of the year?

Do know that  no player except  maradona and messi have won mvp at U-20 and progressed to make the fifa top 5 at the senior level?

Do you know that seidu keita was the mvp of nigeria 99 when xavi and ronaldinho did not even get a mere mention? will you now say keita is not doing well?

Abeg forget story.

How did Amodu make his selection? have they trained at all, or is it his traditional style of using name to play football? This man's problem is that he hardly allows players to fight for shirt on the merit of their current form.

I am almost sure if given the chance , chibuzor okonkwo is better than both taiye taiwo and elderson echiejile. AMODU NA ONE-WAY BRT COACH. Siddon look na dog name. WE DEY WATCH.
