lawrence83:Drawing board don full. make we find another place go. |
kabola2009:Wrong, attitude is a reflection of leadership. The coaches have a large chunk of the blame pie. On a seriuos note I will like to see how SIASIA comes out of this. Every good coach must learn how to rise after a fall. Sincerely this might end up being a blessing for Sia1 as it will help him take a deeper look and correct his weak areas too. If not for pride on the part of NFF (NO FOOTBALL FUTURE) I would have suggested Westerhof with Sia1 as his assistant to start building for 2014. |
I remember USA94 against Italy when we lost to a 10-man team after Zola was sent off We were 1 goal up in the first half against 11 men. In the second half Italy got a red card and they went ahead to equalise and beat us 2-1. still painful |
sholadoma:You are wrong my friend. There is nothing wrong with how they approached the corner kick which was about the last dice for us. Even if you have 100 men behind the ball , if your last man "fancifully" gambles like Haruna did, the team will go down. But in fairness , I think Haruna was somehow fouled by the German. |
The team was not a particularly good team, however a little luck might have seen us go a little farther in the competition. Show me any successful team Nigeria ever produced and I will show you where luck sometimes worked in our favour to progress. DEM SUPPOSE CARRY THAT ODION IGHALO GO MFM FOR SEVEN DAYS DRY FASTING. SOMETHING DEY FOLLOW THAT BOY FROM HIM FAMILY. HARUNA OWN NA BAR BEACH , DELIVERANCE HIM NEED. ![]() |

I started sensing trouble when the Germans had a man sent off. By my calculation we have lost more important matches when our opponents are 1 man less than the ones we have won. NIGERIA vs ITALY (USA 94) Nigeria VS SENEGAL (MALI 2002) NIGERIA VS GHANA (CAN 2008) Is it as a result of tactical ineptitude or mere non-challance whenever our opponents are one man short? |
I nearly broke ma TV screen.I dont seem to get the connection between the expected replacement of the injured left full back and the second German Goal. It was infact the right full back who refused to play safe when he had won the ball from the German player that caused the second goal. I just hope we watched the same match anyway |
should it not rather be "what if Nigeria qualifies for the World Cup" because it is looking most likely we will not qual ify. If they finally confirm their non-qualification I will only relax better and enjoy the entire tornament. |
I am not losing sleep over this one. I know the boys will try to give their best , and the nigerian style of play always cause problems for German teams. But if the FE fail to fly then best of luck. I was very concerned and wanted them to make it to the second round because I felt they played well but were just unlucky in the first round. However if they fail to beat Germany , then it will only confirm that it was not luck but simply that the team is not good enough. Sia1 is still the best Nigerian Coach anyways. |
boladonas:2moro no far again. We will see the nothingness of this your prediction. |
The truth is, this SANUSI man is doing this job as if it is sole-trading business. I think this latest move are weak attempts at invalidating vanguards claim. Like I said in one of my earlier posts, I do not need any report from Vanguard to request Sanusi to do his job with the highest sense of professionalism . I think that is grossly lacking in the exercise so far. As mikeansy said, the reasons for which the Vanguard's argument can be quashed based on this recent removals are the same reasons the argument can be advanced. Initially we heard that EDW activity levels and below satisfactory CAR were the parameters used. Now even after the second Audit Unity bank is adjugded by sanusi to be healthier than Union Bank. Storryyyyy storrrrrrrrrrryy. There are too many questions and too few answers. |
~Bluetooth:I dont undertand.pls explain |
ov:Lets beat Germany first , after that may be God will help us empower uruguay to beat Brasil , then we can manage with Uruguay. |
Sincerely , the Nigerian style of football always causes problem for the Germans, at any level , even female soccer. Our style of keeping the ball and allowing for individual expression by the players within the team context is always difficult for the Germans, the question will now be the extent to which we maximise returns. The Germans will find it really tough. This is not cameroun. |
tolutweety:Yes it is confirmed that we are meeting the Germans. The other problem is that if we win, we will face the winner between BRASIL and Uruguay. It is time for the team to stand up and be counted, or leave the stage for the men. |
^^^^^^^^^^^ wrong Cameroun went into the last match with -1 hence after losing 3-0 they have -4 now. USA on the other hand went into the last game with neutral so after losing 3-0 too they have -3 hence even 1-0 against Tahiti would have seen us through |
Ubforty:Stoooooorrrrrrrry , stooooooorrrrrrrryyy, storrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyy. |
The truth of matter is so far the FE has the ability to create enough scoring opportunities to outscore any country in this competetion. Yes even Brasil ,talkLess of Ghana. The question mark however is if they will convert their chances. If by chance our attackers start clicking , then any team will fall. Another thing I noticed in the TAHITI match is that nobody scored twice and the goals came from mainly midfielders and defenders meaning opponents will definitely be confused as to who they should mark out. I like the underdog status the FE now have , I beleive it will help setup our opponents for surprises. |

Looks like this man wants to do it the Akingbola way |
The Managing Director of Bank PHB, Francis Atuche, has resigned his position as the bank's chief executive. Mr. Atuche made his decision known in a farewell letter to staff of the bank on Friday. In the letter, Mr. Atuche did not say why he is leaving the bank at this time but said, "As in all things however, there is a time to say GOOD BYE. As I bow out today from the Bank, I earnestly urge each and everyone of you to keep the PHB passion aflame so that the height, the mount everest which we envisioned shall not only be accomplished, but shall be surpassed and we would have created an institution that would outlive". He also said, "In the course of my stewardship we took decisions which affected all of us in different ways but they were in the best and overall interest of the Bank". Mr. Atuche's resignation comes after sources told NEXT last night that the Central Bank of Nigeria had concluded plans to sack him today. The central bank's decision, the sources said, was as a result of the inability of Bank PHB to pass its latest audit of banks. Since the audit began some months ago, the chief executives of five banks have been sacked. Four of the former executives are now being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for various offences. http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Money/Finance/5466377-146/Bank_PHB's_chief_executive_resigns_.csp |
@FBS Consistency is key here. When they lost you never said they played well, you had every reason to explain that since they did not score they were woeful. You only blamed the ref a bit thats all. Now they have managed 5 goals past TAHITI and by your assessment , that is the worst performance (May be worse than losing). Someone came now to say they played well against spain and venezuela , but yeterday they played badly and you are saying that is what you expect people to say. HOW? |
FBS:Bros na wa o. So you now mean they played better when they lost those two matches? There is about no differrence between a +2 and +20 for the FE now, reason being that of four teams we were hoping would lose their last match, egypt had the highest goal difference of +2 which would have dropped to +1 or below if they lost yesterdays match. For the others Cameroon -1,costa rica -2, hungary - (neutral), which means that the only way any of them can qualify ahead of us is if they make 4 points by getting a draw. One the Nine man issue, yes if it was bad they scored only 1 goal with 9 men , it then means they scored 4 goals with eleven men. So someone else can decide to give them credit four doing 4 goals in the first half and not blame them for just 1 goal in the second half. On the tactical side however when TAHITI was reduced to nine men, they sacrificed their attackers and asked everyone to fall to defence hence, our team still had thesame number of defenders to contend with(if not more) as in the first half. We played well against Venezuela and Spain but did not win. We needed 5 goals against Tahiti and got it. END OF STORY. |
We need to win by atleast five goals and hope/pray that any of the following four teams lose Egypt OR Cameroon OR Costa Rica OR Hungary I have a feeling the Germany VS Cameroon match is our greatest prospect. |
Nigerians Spend N796bn to Fuel Generators Yearly From Patrick Ugeh in Abuja, 09.28.2009 N796.4 billion What Nigerians spend on fuelling generators as alternative power supply every year. N796.7 billion What the Federal Government budgeted for capital expenditure for 2009. Nigerians spend about N796.4 billion on fuel to generate electric power every year, the National Electricity Regula-tory Commission (NERC) has said. This figure is strikingly similar to the federal budget of N796.7 billion for capital expenditure for the current fiscal year. A breakdown shows that N540.9 billion is spent on diesel and N255.5 billion goes into the purchase of petrol annually for power generating sets. These facts were contained in a document authored by Assistant General Manager, Project Monitoring Office, Ify Ikeonu. Although all the details were not available at press time, THISDAY investigations show that of the amount, industries operating under the aegis of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) spend over N350 billion to fuel their generating sets. Early in the year, the Federal Government came under heavy criticism for budgeting N2 billion to buy, maintain and fuel generators this year. According to the details of the budget passed by the Senate in December 2008, the Presidency will spend N27 million to fuel its generators and N14.3 million to maintain them. Other details were: the National Assembly, fuel, N233 million; National Assembly Office -fuel- N63 million; maintenance, N57.2 million; the National Assembly White House, which houses Chambers of the Senate and the House of Representatives - N58 million for fuelling and N55 million for maintenance; the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC), fuel and maintenance - N25.8 million; and Police formations nationwide - fuel and maintenance, N110 million. THISDAY did not gain access to the number of generating sets currently in use in the country as contained in the survey report. There was also some controversy over the actual estimate of what Nigerians spend to fuel their generators because of a recent report that the entire amount was N50 billion. It has since emerged that the recently reported figure was for Aba, Abia State, alone. THISDAY gathered that the amount concerning the monetary value of fuel used in Aba was contained in the report of a survey commissioned in 2007 by Geometric Power, Aba. The survey was conducted by National Rural Electricity Cooperative Association (NRECA) in Washington, U.S.A. Making the clarification about the amount spent by consumers in Aba in the course of THISDAY investigation, Senior Manager, Public Affairs, Geometric Power Limited, Oseloka Zikora, said: “According to statistics, Nigerians spend about N540.9 billion on diesel and N255.5 billion on fuel (petrol) to generate power and not N50 billion as ascribed to Prof Nnaji in newspaper reports.” According to him, “the (about) N50 billion quoted is only the share of Aba industries, commercial and residential consumers’ expenditure on fuel and diesel to generate power.” His reference was to a newspaper report which he said quoted the Chairman of Geometric Power, Prof. Barth Nnaji, as saying Nigerians spend about N50 billion for fuel to power their electric generating sets every year. He said the former Minister had to clarify that aspect because it was understood in some quarters to mean that the figure represented what was spent around the country. Nnaji had explained at a meeting with the Director-General of Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), Dr. Christopher Anyanwu, that the expenditure pattern in fuelling generators was that residents/small commercial entities spend N14.4 billion on generator fuel while the large industries part with N43.2 billion for the same purpose. However, in the publication, the fact that the figures were limited to the expenditure in Aba was not expressly stated. Unreliable power supply in the country has seen most households resort to the use of power generating sets as their primary means of electricity, while the state utility company, Power Holding Company of Nigeria, (PHCN), which is essentially a monopoly, hardly meets up to 20 per cent of the nation’s demand. It generates between 2,000mw and 2,500mw. This has led to a situation where power supply from PHCN is viewed as a standby source, to be used when available, while generators are seen as the principal mode of catering for power needs. To make PHCN more efficient, it was unbundled into 18 successor companies comprising 11 power generating companies, GenCos, six power distribution companies, DisCos, and one transmission company, Transmission Company of Nigeria. The country is moving towards a situation where other means of generating power that will involve less expensive fuel, such as solar, are being explored. Although the initial financial outlay in setting up a solar-powered plant is astronomical, it can last for 25 years without fuel other than solar energy which is captured by the solar panel. The government also recently signed a contract with a French outfit to establish a wind-fuelled plant in Katsina as a mark of its seriousness to diversify public power supply sources from the traditional hydro and thermal to wind, solar and coal, among others. To improve power supply however, it has been realised that the private sector must play a critical role, which has led to NERC licensing about 29 independent power producers, IPPs, which are in various stages of completion. A gas master plan has however been put in place to make gas more readily available to fuel the over 70 per cent of power plants that depend on thermal source of energy. http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=155663 IS THIS NOT ENOUGH REASON TO CELEBRATE NIGERIA AT 49? |

Onlytruth:I must confess that I am equally pained by the failure of the Nigerian experiment. I however think my not agreeing with the seperation doctrine should not encourage snide comments like you seem to be making I have found the task of compressing my thoughts on why being together is not really our problem rather intractable. However I make bold to say that for every reason why the seperation doctrine is advanced , there are stronger reasons why we should remain together. Like I said ealier , the problem is not really with Nigeria but with Nigerians, hence I see these liability bearing traits in the average Nigerian soaring in the emergent fragemnts if/when we decide to part ways. Simply tell me one advantage of seperation and I will tell you why we can achieve that now, even without seperation. I await your response |
drbiola:Hope you are not Amodu shuaibu? You are really very funny,so because a goal keeper won the WC 2 years ago , he automatically becomes the first choice. You have not seen where the second choice improves and gets the first team shirt? What tella boys ? They tried 2 years ago but have you checked on their progress since then? yes I mean from christiantus, edile, lukman,Udoh etc? Of the tella boys that played only king osanga tried and that was even in the first half. We know Sia1 would have picked christiantus if not for his injury. Did you watch the AYC ? Haruna that was chewing gum and showing the highest sense of indiscipline to lead this team? Did you notice that the team played better with 10 men after haruna left? Yes we lost but your assesment is simply poor. So Haruna tackled carelessly because the CPT band was taken from him? abeg I no fit shout . Na beg I beg you |
