Music/RadioRe: 5 Nigerian Artistes Who Influenced Contemporary Nigerian Music by naturalwaves: 11:49pm On Apr 22, 2019
demolinka:
In celebration of the life and times of one of the most influential Nigerian musicians to grace the booth and create legendary works, DAGRIN, we look at five other Artistes from the 2000's till present whose styles and musical influence affected and are still affecting the Nigerian music space.

1. Tuface Idibia: More commonly known nowadays by his other alias, Tubaba, he has been perhaps the most influential Nigeian music artiste over the past two decades. Right from his days as a member of the defunct R&B group, Plantashun Boiz, Tubaba's greatness as a vocalist and performer was never in doubt. His solo career began with the launch of the 2004 album Face to Face which turned unbelievers to disciples and earned mostly positive reviews. Though mired in a couple of controversies over the years, he is still highly respected in the game. The singer has been a reference point of influence, both in style and substance, for even his contemporaries. Artistes like P-Square, D'banj, Timaya, Wizkid, Timi Dakolo, etc, have testified to his influence on their careers, as well as their lives, many pointing out his humility at such great heights a source of reverence for them.
This is a great insult to other guys on the list like Psquare, D'banj and co. Some of these guys had more presence and influence than Tuface. Tuface is a legend no doubt but what you wrote was an insult to the other dudes.
Having said that, it would have been better if you replace Tuface with Plantashion Boys. Plantashion boys had so much influence as a group and tilted youths towards that soft R and B genre of music

demolinka:
2. Asa: Asa has 3 studio albums to her credit, the first of which was the self-titled 2007 release, Asa, which remains one of the greatest studio albums in Nigerian music history. She emerged on the scene at a time pop music was the mainstay in the contemporary space - largely dominated by men. Not the archetypal diva, the guitar-strumming, dreadlock-wearing, bespectacled, and gruff-sounding soul singer, became a breakthrough for alternative sounds as well as many other female artistes in Nigeria.
I can agree with this.

safarigirl:
this is a stale line.

You aren't identifying, you are telling us that their idea of music is the best, that is wrong. You did not say whites appreciate our brand. You said Asa is the best of the lot, and you support this with the idea that because she has approval from the whites, so, she is the best.

You left the whole Africa and ran to seek approval from Europe and America. Africans just love that validation from the West, colonialism does that to you. Messes with your mind and makes you believe your work is only good when it receives a seal of approval from the West.

Asa is not better than Tu face, or even P-Square, as far as outreach goes. Their music is as good as her own and possibly, has a wider audience. Anywhere you think Asa's music has reached, Tu face and P-square's music has been there.

Just because someone sings in a way that appeals to the West, does not mean they are better than those whose outreach is within the continent.

Have some self worth
The dude has a lot of inferiority complex.

Asa is the only brand that can stand alone internationally. Her songs are evergreen and have made top tens around the globe on several occasions. Imagine white people requesting Asa's songs on radio (even when they don't understand some of the Yoruba love).
2face is another legend but I give it to Asa over any Nigerian artist.
Whizzkid is an insult to this list. The people on the list are lyrically sound save for whizzkid.
Your argument is very senseless. Is Asa the only Nigerian foreigners request her songs? How does the fact her song is being requested justify the fact that she has had a great influence? Asa is good no doubt but insulting Whizkid is a no no.I do not know why you guys always hate on the young man(whiz kid) doing wonders and doing good for himself. What do you mean by lyrically sound? How will those who do not understand Yoruba request for her songs since they do not understand the language? Is that not enough reasons to tell you that Music goes beyond lyrics. Did you not see that you contradict yourself? Having said that, you lots need to be educated and schooled on what is meant by music genre and the dominant characteristic of each genre of music. You know nothing about music and just saying trash.

Maybe you should help me define "personal attack" or better still go over my reply again, this time, with a calm mind.
I know it's a very bitter pill, and I understand how difficult it is to get it inside for digestion. Enjoy
Personal attacks on the likes of Tinubu and Fashola. Have a nice day!

Thank God your conscience got my point.
I have no business with you because I know how adamant your likes can be .
This is not about being adamant. You have resolved into personal attack just to drive home your point. I repeat! Ambode is the worst governor of Lagos so far so bad.
TravelRe: Pictures Of EPE, LAGOS Roads At Night by naturalwaves: 1:48pm On Apr 21, 2019
KENZINCO:
Before I start to say anything, let me make it clear to you that anything I'll say here are things that I have had a first hand experience with and not just things I read on social media.
"Ambode is your typical everyday administration with no innovation , and can hardly think outside the box" but have you for once enquire about what LRU has been all about? Have you enquire about what the Oworonshoki end of the thirdainland bridge, iyana Oworo to ketu, Alapere junction, from VI , Lekki down to Abraham Adesanya in Ajah, were all know for before Ambode came in? ( Maybe you should tell me more about innovation) Have you enquire about how many Ambulance for Emergencies Lagos State had before Ambode came in and how much they have now and how active are they?

Before the Lord of your Lord came out before the primaries and told you all that Ambode is not fit for 2nd time, majority of Lagosians have been praising Imohimi as the best commissioner of Police in Nigeria because of the Lagos security architecture at the time, the Lord of you Lord stands changed that. I know you won't agree with me and I don't want to you to agree with me

"Ambode failed in the area of environment"
Have you enquire about how long it took Lawma to clean up The Lord(Tinubu) of your Lord (Fashola) 's Lagos that was accustomed with dirt ?

How on Earth do you expect an infrastructural project to be carried out in a city as populated as Lagos without it having an effect on the citizens?
One of you lord's biggest project while he was Governorwas the Road from Mole 12 to Ikorodu, during the construction of that road by the CCECC , I used that road at least 2 times a week and I know what we went through before the contraction was done with. Now it's Ambode, but you want him to perform some magic all because you want him to show you he is innovative.

Take a look at Beger axis of Lagos, what was it like before Ambode's tenure, what is it like now, and what impact has that project on the life of people coming inside and going outside Lagos and also people living and doing business in that axis?

Lagos is so populated, yet we have Epe with and it axis is still blessed with a lot of vacant dry land where people can build and do business The Lord of your Lord was Governor for 8years, your Lord was also there for another 8 years , both were not innovative enough to think of what to do with that place but they abandoned the Land. Now the Man who in you opinion has decided to oppen up the area by reconstructing the road that leads Epe to Ijebu Ode end of the Lagos Benin expressway , he was even committed to contract the part of that road that falls within Ogun state territory since that state government is not showing interest in construction it ( note, he has currently finished the Lagos side of the road). This project was meant to decongest the traffic on the berger axis of Lagos Ibadan Expressway, so that only people living on the mainland can use that road, while people on the island can come into or go out of Lagos through the Ijebu Ode -Epe axis. This will boost business in the area and encourage people to move from withing Lagos and fill the vacant places in Epe. Please , tell me more about Innovation.

I can go on and on and on, but let me end it by saying this, I know you won't agree with me as usual, and I don't even want you to agree with me because I only have business with you conscience and not you.

The status of Fashola as a "Governor who Performed " is as a result of the sorry state Tinubu's Lagos environment wasat the time. Tinubu's Lagos was so dirty that Fashola became Lagos Lord by planting ordinary flowers around. I mean, who becomes the best Governor by clearing the "under bridges" and planting flowers?
When you are ready to make your points without sounding as though you have a personal vendetta against Tinubu and Fashola, do a write-up and mention me. I will come to give you a good reply. Until then, Ambode remains the worst governor in Lagos state in recent times.

At last! Where will they start and where will they end.
The whole entire lagos roads are in a mess, especially on the mainland.
I've observed that Local Governments don't function in lagos. Wonder why Tinubu was in a hurry to create more, when they're not functional.
They were highly functional under Fashola and even competed every time. Under Ambode, they were dummy variables.

Exactly. The environmental issue is the only minus his administration is currently having . I hops they address it very soon.
This Visionscape people are not doing very well
Let the PSP come back
That is not the only minus. This thread is just a damage control. How many times will the pictures of Epe make front page?
Ambode scored credit in road construction and not even a distinction. However in education, health and environment, Ambode scores an outright F9. Worst governor in Lagos state in recent years.
Moreover, Ambode could barely think outside the box. All his projects are just things that once there is money, an order will be given and work starts. He did not come with any idea of his own nor good innovations, just roads. Ambode is just your typical everyday administrator that pays salaries and ensures normal flow. He lacks the cerebral capacity to perform excellently well in a state like Lagos. I will score him 52% overall.

Nobody seems to be talking about the useless tactics of Manu Garba in this competition all because Nigeria is not yet in danger. I do not know what the offence of Ayobami(13) is to him to warrant dragging him off his usual position of 8 to right wing. He is always ruthless in that 8 position and feeds the strikers well from there as well. He has not been functional in that RWF position and not like he is blessed with extreme speed or ability to hold on to the ball for so long, why put him there then? Since he has been in that position, we barely penetrate through the centre of the pack. He needs to watch it and switch to the normal formation.

Our strikers need to also be taught how to kick the ball in a one be one situation. They need to learn how to hit the ball from under to beat a keeper already close to the ground. Everything is not just about shot shot every time.

The coaches should get clips of RAUL; the legendary striker and our strikers should watch a bit of it.
Our team is not that bad though............the players have power, speed and strength but lack common sense and technique. A lack of technique at the world cup will get us seriously punished.

This is Afonja's method of attack and destruction. The team is loaded with Oodua players yet only Ubani is singled out for criticisms by the usual suspects. I say disintegrate Nigeria now.
If you are not suffering from glaucoma, you would have seen where I seriously lashed out at another player who happens to be a Yoruba guy on this same thread. The problem with people from your region is that you are taught to first protect your own before anything else even if it implies telling a lie or not standing up for the truth. Unlike you, most afonjas are taught to stand up for the truth no matter whose ox is gored...we do not play sentiments and turn blind eyes to the truth. I did not even consider his tribe before making my statement, it was when you wrote this rubbish I even realised he is Igbo. People like you are more or less the problem of this nation.
