If you have aged parents, just know their bank app pin and ATM pin. That's all you need to know so that whenever they're called to be with the Lord, you won't have any business in their bank. Same goes for spouses, as you begin to age, your spouse or kids should know your bank app and ATM pin as well. |
Great write-up! |
What's stopping you from applying for the student visa and using the money to fund yourself? Or don't you have any plans to further your own education? |
I used to experience number 1 during my schooling days. Whenever I'm traveling back to school (in the SE) from Lagos, if I enter a bus and sit at the last role (at the back) and the bus begins to bounce on potholes, I'll start becoming very dizzy and uncomfortable. And sometimes I might even through up. When I discovered this, I started sitting at the front seat with the driver and I stopped experiencing it. |
tivta:I said over 2m which can be 5m, 10m even 20m. They're all over 2m. |
Khyrvxjzy:When Gen Marwa was the military governor of Lagos, he passed a rule that house rent mustn't exceed a certain figure. Whether it's a duplex, 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom flat, face-me-I-face-you, bungalow...etc, they all had a certain figure they were not expected to exceed. This helped curb the excesses of corrupt landlords who were ready to increase their rent every month at the expense of their struggling tenants. When democracy came in 1999, things changed, it became a game of looting. The government would steal from business owners, the business owners in return would steal from the people. Buhari's administration imposed so many useless taxes on business owners that they were on the verge of suffocation. That's why prices of goods were always on the increase during his tenure. If you're a business owner who imports his products, you'll understand how corrupt the government is. From clearing your containers at the Port, to settling agberos and police, and you must still settle those agberos at your shop or warehouse before they would even allow you offload your goods, then when you decide to sell, the government would bring out one useless receipt you must pay for before being permitted to operate. When you make enquiry about the price of the receipt, they'll tell you 300k for one year.. If we're to address building products that are gotten here in Nigeria, Let's look at Gravel. I know a particular state in Nigeria where there's a quarry where they blast caves to get gravels, if you're running a company and buy directly from them, you'll pay lots and lots of money to the youths cos it's their community...if you don't pay them, they won't grant you passage. Then the state government slams you with heavy taxes for operating in the state. So when these companies go here to buy in bulk, and pass through all those extortion, how much do you think they'll sell a trip of gravel to you who wants to build? It's definitely going to be expensive. Same for sand. Even here in Lagos, anywhere you go to get sand in bulk, you must settle locals huge sums of money before they grant passage to your trucks. Most iron rods are imported so transportation and dollar factor would definitely affect their prices. So when you look at all these, you'll agree with me that the government plays a huge role in the ever increasing prices of these commodities. Cos you as a dealer wouldn't want to run at a loss, this means that whatever amount you spend would determine the price you'll place your products at... The SON you mentioned that should tell people how much to sell their products is controlled by the government. Whoever is appointed as their head, owes loyalty to the administration that appointed him, and must bring in monthly cut. So in order to maintain his status of favour with the government, and his position as well, he would compromise by accepting bribes. |
All through Buhari's 8 years, all we were hearing was government to do this, government to do that...yet nothing was done. The height of the scam was the commissioning of dangote refinery and Nigerian air Buhari scammed us with before handing over. Now Tinubu is following that same pattern. All his hungry supporters are still attacking Peter Obi even though Tinubu is the one sitting in Aso Rock. He's handlers are busy telling us what he would and would not do whilst the people languish in hunger and poverty. We don't want to hear what you want to do, we want results... period! |
A welcome development. We also need the price of iron rods, sharp sand, stones, bamboo, wood...etc, to crash as well, so that people can breath. To fence a property on 2 plots of land in Nigeria today with pillars, security light bulbs, painting, barbwires and gate would cost you over 2m. 20 years ago, that 2m would build you a decent 3bedroom bungalow. If the government doesn't sit up, people would have no choice than to start living in mud houses, since it's much cheaper to build. |
Saudi is for pension. Oshimen should wait until he's 35 before going there. |
Karleb:My dear, Nigeria has never been good. I was listening to a song fela sang in 1983 (40 years ago) and the whole lyrics of that song was how bad Nigeria has deteriorated. The title is Look and Laugh you can check it up on YouTube. As for elderly breeding like cockroaches, so many millionaires and billionaires in Nigeria (Dangote inclusive) came from polygamous homes, and struggled with life to get to the top. Life is about you, and how willing you are to separate yourself from distractions and focus on your goals. Cos you can never achieve those goals if those distractions keep pulling you back. |
The day men begin to respect themselves is the day women would respect them. Towards the end of last year, a female member (she has deactivated) posted a screenshot of her Nairaland home page. It was filled with hundreds of messages from random guys. I asked myself how can you send a message to a random girl whom you've not even seen. At least get to know her first, then make a request to send her a DM. But you see those kind of guys, they're the reason why so many girls are rude towards men. They can approach a girl anywhere, stalk her anywhere, buy her expensive gifts while their account bleeds, even pay her to date them. Just yesterday on another thread I was telling someone that Nigeria is the only country on Earth where a man can pay a random girl above minimum wage for casual sex. Most men need to have a sober reflection on themselves and change their approach towards women. There's more to life outside the skirt of a girl. |
emmaodet:This is the problem most have not prepared themselves for life in their 30s. And this Tinubu's era isn't helping matters at all. I went through @Evolutionlove post and your original post I agree that most Nigerian males are low lifers. They have nothing upstairs. Aside sex, alcohol and the zeal for quick money without sweat, many are just empty. I was discussing with someone and I told him that Nigeria is the only country on this planet where hookup is more expensive than minimum wage and the average salary of a university graduate. In USA their minimum wage is about $4700. Imagine paying that kind of money to a girl for hook-up? But Nigerian men wouldn't mind paying the salary of a graduate to a girl for sex. Most young people lack the ability to create and sustain wealth, this is why there's so much poverty and hunger in the land. |
pocohantas:Don't believe everything you read on the internet. 😏 |
pocohantas:Lol who vex you today. ![]() |
emmaodet:@ bolded. Without any sustainable income, they wouldn't be able to maintain the car or the house they rented. I used to know a guy (about 28 years of age) In the former area where I lived in 2021. One Sunday morning as I was going to church, I saw him in the midst of a crowd of guys, they were throwing him up, I slowed down and asked someone close by what the problem is and he told me that this guy just won a bet of about 9m from bet9ja. That was the last day I saw him in that area until last year when I ran into him. He was looking so haggard and unkept, I couldn't even believe that this guy who had 9m just last year is practically broke a year later. Most young guys have no plans for themselves, so even if by some miracle, money finds it way to them, rather than set up themselves and become financially buoyant for life, they'll just squander it on women and clubbing and remain poor. This is why Yahoo boys are always broke. |
pocohantas:Marriage can only be blissful if both parties are honest with each other, and not one party trying to outsmart the other. I'm sure they (she and the husband) discussed about her going and how long she would be staying in the UK before coming back to Nigeria. Therefore it was very wrong of her to go there and refuse to come back to her husband. If she wants a divorce she should come out openly and say so. How can you abandon your husband for 9 months? The daughter should send her mom back to Nigeria to be with her husband. She shouldn't support that kind of attitude. It's very wrong. |
Most fraud that occurs on customers accounts are aided by bank staffs. It's an open secret which everyone knows. I believe that the punishment should be stiffer, sacking them isn't enough, cos most customers become suicidal (some even die of HBP) after going through the trauma of loosing their life savings to fraudsters. 10-15 years in jail should be a fair punishment. Once this is enforced and fraudulent bank staffs are convicted and imprisoned, others would refrain from that crime and focus on their jobs. |
Has your 34 year old friend asked the single mom about the whereabouts of her kids father, or would he continue to play the mute because she's financially stable and marry her...then when the baby daddy shows up unannounced in he's house he'll start lamenting? Tell him to do his homework thoroughly if he want's to settle down with her. |
IconicR:It's very pathetic that you would choose to lie just to defend your candidate. Obi finished with 2nd class lower. Even UNN published his results when people like you went about barking that he had 3rd class. Even if you want to defend Tinubu, do it with integrity at least. Stop behaving like a lousy market woman. Your Tinubu has refused to produce his own certificate, yet Peter Obi is your problem.

Most guys in their late teens and early 20s lack the blueprint of how they want their lives to be in the next 10 years. If you want to experiment this, meet 100 random guys in their late teens and early 20s and ask them what they'll do if 5m is credited into their account. You'd be shocked that more than 95% of them would be unable to give you a business oriented answer, aside telling you that they'll invest it or do business, if you probe deeper to know the kind of business or investment they intend to do and how they plan to execute it, they'll go mute...this is beginning of failure. What occupies the minds of most of them are irrelevant things like women, more women, sex, gambling, masturbation, alcohol, clubs, more women, relationships...etc. You can't carry all that gabbage in your 20s and expect your 30s to be successful. Life isn't magic. If your parents can't afford to send you to the university, learn a trade. I know a distant family member who dropped out from secondary school at JSS3 and went to learn spare parts many years ago. Today he has his own building at okota. The secret to a successful life is finding those things that distract you from focusing on your goals and eliminating them. Only then would you be able to achieve something meaningful in your 30s. |
emmaodet:America, Germany, UK and a few other European countries have stopped issuing tourist visas to average Nigerians cos they know that they won't come back. To get a tourist visa to any of these countries, you must either be a top government official, a top military personnel or a director in a top company. Anything aside these, your Visa would be rejected. So this suggestion wouldn't work for an average Nigerian. |
The problem with Nigeria is that tribal bigotry has blinded us to the extent that people would rather prefer to suffer in silence than call out a bad leader from their tribe. We saw how the north kept defending Buhari, even with visible evidences of incompetence on his part. They kept using the media for propaganda and telling us that he's the best thing to ever happen to Nigeria since sliced bread. Now the SW has picked up from where the north stopped. The worst thing about this Tinubu's government is that the suffering that comes with it has no breathing space. Prices of things in the market keeps rising on a daily basis, so many families are finding it extremely difficult to feed. Yet this same people who can't even afford 2 meals a day are using propaganda and tribalism to defend this administration. My question to them is what exactly are they defending? Most businesses are finding it extremely difficult to cope, a lot have shut down...But these dolts would rather spend their entire life barking tribalism on social media only to sleep on an empty stomach, than call out the incompetence of this administration. Isn't that foolishness? I'm sure these stowaways saw Tinubu as the Messiah of Nigeria, but in less than 6 months of his administration, reality dawned on them, hence their decision to risk their lives on the ocean. If we keep playing propaganda and tribalism politics, these heartless leaders would keep looting us dry cos they don't care about you. If you like insult the whole tribes in Nigeria, when you're done, you'll go to bed on an empty stomach while they allocate billions for themselves. Make una continue. |
A prophet isn't honoured in his home. Seems like politics is the only occupation that gives reasonable money in Nigeria. Imagine a country that doesn't value it's medical personnel. |
The worst gift our colonial masters gave to us was religion. Religion made the average African man dump science which would have helped in developing the continent. That's why we're still so backward, cos we would rather pray to an invisible God, than use our God given brain to work out scientific research on how to develop our continent. Religion has completed destroyed Africa. |
You added green, water leaf and ugwu in one soup? 🤔 I thought green was for cooking yam porrage. The soup looks good anyways. |
DenreleDave:This one is even better at least he's chasing women. What would you say about this one who only follows monikers who's alphabet starts with the letter C https://www.nairaland.com/ufuomaarinze10#up Very weird if you ask me.

Bennysam:And you've never disobeyed your parents in your entire life. Congratulations. This is a human being we're talking about here. Whether or not she disobeyed them, she deserves to know the whereabouts of her child. |
There's no difference between Reno and FFK. They both lack integrity and can do anything to have their own share of the national cake. Reno has dumped his principal (Atiku) and is fighting hard to force himself on Tinubu so he can be included in the sharing formular. What a shameless man. To the issue at hand...every dignitary who attends a burial or wedding ceremony is expected to give cash gifts to the bereaved family or couple. It's the Nigerian way, I have a childhood friend who are close with Tinubu, and during the just concluded Salah, he (Tinubu) gave them cows. Would you call that bribe...of course not. So if Peter Obi donated cash to Rufai, he did it as a guest and not to buy him. Cos with the way Rufai aggressively interviewed Peter Obi before the elections, by asking him critical questions, you'll easily know that he maintained a neutral stand all through. To the issue of CSU, whether or not Reno reached the school is none of our business. Atiku claims that someone named Tinubu actually attended CSU, but the Tinubu that attended CSU isn't the one ruling us, the one ruling us is using a certificate that doesn't belong to him. During the just concluded ministerial screening, prospective ministers were thoroughly screened by the Senate and asked to produce their academic credentials. If Tinubu isn't trying to conceal anything, I don't see any reason why he's avoiding the public's call for him to produce his CSU certificate let everyone see it and calm down. His continued silence is only making more and more people believe that he's actually using a Forged certificate to rule us. |
placeofallure:This one isn't a private school anymore. It's more like a civil service job. |
