Education › Does Educational Concession In Nigeria Lead To Inequality In Educational Access? by Nchabuomo(op): 4:42pm On Oct 25, 2017 |
I'm presently running a poll on social media, with regards to whether Nigerians on social media believe educational concessions( staff quota,vice-chancellors list et al) especially in tertiary education helps to increase the educational inequality with regards to access. For the purpose of this poll, Staff quota is defined as a concession given to the wards of members of staff of a particular Tertiary University with regards to admittance. Vice-Chancellors list is defined as a list which contains names of individuals admitted into various courses in the University which they, the individual did not originally make the required marks for. I intend to use the information obtained for my Social Justice essay. If you are Nigerian and would like to help me by participating in the poll, please follow the link(it's a Twitter poll) below this post. Thanks https://twitter.com/DarkRidersDream/status/922728134960656384 |

See things are not as complex as we make them to be a times o! Even the documentation stuff isn't such a biggie....I wore a denim shirt and trousers with slip on for my documentation...... People just put unnecessary gara gara .....No be like that o |

dkingskid: lol. Medical is not a formality bruh. People fail it. Not saying this to make you or anyone else lose hope anyway. Just trying to correct the seeming wrong notion you have about it. Cheers! In my presence the Medical Officer signed fit for employment, without waiting for any of my scans to come in............ |

chinco19: if you took your time to go through what I typed, you wouldn't have missed where I said I saw that on an old thread. And on me saying there was no glitch anywhere, am I not entitled to my opinion? Before you got your mail, didn't you voice out what u thought was the problem? I am not misinforming anyone as I earlier stated that they were thoughts.
Talmabout "medicals is just a formality so no-one one can fail it" kmt You are entitled to your opinion.... But your opinion should not be one that would raise tension. If you did the medical you would know why I said it's just formality. |

chinco19: For those who have done medicals and documentation and haven't received any mail for TS, I think it is best for us to go to First Bank's headquarters to ascertain why. Just went through an old thread and the info there stated that if you aren't called after medicals and documentation, you were dropped for either medical or documentation issue. it all makes sense now. those that were invited for TS without doing medicals and documentation were invited on purpose. Most likely to replace those that didn't meet up with their requirements for TS. There was no "glitch" anywhere. It was all purposeful. I don't know why the HR reps are playing mind games with us. Don't come and say what you DON'T know! Medical is just a formality so no-one can fail it. FBN employs even if you are combining 2 results. So I don't think people would have issues with that. Please don't come and give people unnecessary High BP or be spreading misinformation! If you did documentation and medical DON'T worry, if FBN said there was a glitch, who are YOU to say there wasn't? |

machete: Not if you already have a job and the admission to TS email sent has a disclaimer stating you might not be accepted if there are no more spaces and other lame excuses. Will be cutting off almost 100k from my current salary for 3months without knowing what the offer is! Recruitment process that is taking almost 2 years! Sigh. Abeg money too is important. loool if your current firm offers the same growth progression, then please stay with them |

juddexy2: This whole thing is even looking like a disaster now. Even after getting the TS mail, one may not be sure its the final invite, you might even be called upon again to disregard the email....these guys aren't coordinated. Besides kchris and iambraham, who did documentation and medicals in August and have been called for T.S? From the little statistics here which may not be reliable 60% of people who did documentations in August are still awaiting TS mails
One of the worst things that would happen would be after resigning from your current place for TS and FBN later sends you another mail telling you to wait for further directives bfr resumption.#kuku kee me ...lool I don't think you are being fair to FBN, Nairlanders compose of only a little fraction of those that took the test.....I did Medical and Documentation and also got the TS mail yesterday. Every firm can make mistakes, even if they did not chose to call it a mistake. I believe all man wey done do Medical and Documentation would head out for TS soon....Patience is key, this process began a year ago |

kchris007: Hi guys, For those of us that got our TS invite yesterday, did you notice this clause:
***Please note that your personalized Letter of Invitation will be scanned to you in our subsequent email to you.
What does it mean? This did not appear in the mail gotten by the 1 set of people (acclaimed glitch).
Please what does it mean o. It means that a letter addressed personally to you with the information included in the mail would be sent to you. I believe you would need the letter for admittance into the TS. |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: 2016 Firstbank Graduate Trainee Programme by Nchabuomo: 8:36am On Oct 21, 2017 |
Personally I feel more mails would be sent out...as not everyone invited for the TS would RSVP YES .....So I'm guessing the shortfall would be augmented |

spacyzuma: Comforter In The City - 50 Dundas St, Glasgow G1 2AQ. This is the popular one. I've been there many times.
The Experience Kitchen - 42 London Rd, Glasgow G1 5NB. This is less popular.
There's an African restaurant (I've forgotten the name) along Union Street in the city centre, but I rarely go there because it's below ground level. Thanks G |

Travel › Re: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by Nchabuomo: 7:49pm On Oct 16, 2017 |
spacyzuma: Flight is more expensive than train is more expensive than coach. 1.5 hrs max flight vs 6hrs max train vs at least 11hrs by coach. Use Google maps to check estimates of travel times from London to edinburgh. The earlier you book your tickets, the cheaper it will be.
For sim data, it depends on how long you're staying. You can get a phone contract. I personally avoid phone contracts because they are typically 24 mths. But some give rolling contracts (every month) with option of cancelling at any time, Eg Virgin Mobile.
There are websites like uswitch and gocompare that you can use to compare sim plans. Errrrm I have used flights that are cheaper than train from here to London Easyjet is cool, Ryanair is cool but they cancel quite a lot. |
Travel › Re: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by Nchabuomo: 7:45pm On Oct 16, 2017 |
spacyzuma: Hi. I live and work in scotland. For flights, use skyscanner.net to check for all flight options. For sim cards, there are several lowcost networks like Lebara and Lycamobile, especially for calling Nigeria cheap. As a student, you shouldd have wifi around your school a lot so won't need to buy network data so much, but if you do, I recommend EE, Virgin Mobile, and 3.
I don't know about edinburgh, but There's no lack of nigerian stuff in Glasgow. There are at least 3 dedicated nigerian food stores, and 3 different nigerian restaurants in Glasgow. Also, many nigerian foods can be bought at any large middle-eastern food store, and I'm sure there are several at Edinburgh.
For affordable clothing, Primark is the best option.
Cheers Hi please can you yarn me the Nigerian restaurant in Glasgow |
