Dropping an update for those asking about admittance. I arrived UK today, the customs officers were cordial. Just wanted to know the reason for my vist and duration of stay. Please also fill the passenger locator form prior to your trip to avoid being fined.

Your friend needs to do an invite letter stating the above (that they will cater for your accommodation and feeding) and attach a data page of their passport. They can also attach their a pay slip just to show that they can cater for an additional person. This should also be stated in the letter i.e their occupation

Yeah, as long as you quarantine i.e if you are not coming in from an exempt country.

Please help me here. Am applying for a 2 year visa for i and my wife but these are my issues.

I have made 2 huge withdrawals from my account to save in another account ( Which i ended up spending anyway) in other to block that those two withdrawals from been visible in my statement is it advisable to tender a 3 months Bank statement as against the regular 6 months?

I will so appreciate your help in answering these two questions.

The withdrawals shouldn't ideally be an issue as long as your account balance is fine. That said I used a 3 months bank statement in my last application and it was fine.

The much I know you have to explain your source of income. Not necessarily the 10 million balance. So for example if you have 10 million but earn 1 million monthly you just need to attach your pay slips, needless to say that there should be corresponding deposits of the amount reflected in your pay slip in your account statement.

I have never explained my balance or any other transaction on my account and it has not been an issue thus far.

Even specialist immigration lawyers and caseworkers draft cover letters when they are dealing with the Home Office, and advise applicants to do so, obviously, from your standpoint, because they have nothing better to do with their time and think that all applications are meticulously examined line by line.

If cover letters were pointless, then by now they would have gone out of use, as visa officers would certainly have made known their dislike of them, if that were the case.

Cover letter is very important and can make a difference between successful application and refusal. That is exactly why a blank space is provided for additional information and they also encourage applicants to use extra paper if the space provided is not enough

Cover letters are undoubtedly helpful.
They [should] briefly summarise the important details of your application in one page so that its easy for an overworked government employee to quickly grasp before reviewing your form and supporting documents. That's why a lot of people recommend them. I do too, and I always write one, even when applying for long-term visas. As long as it's kept short and succinctly paragraphed and bulleted.

And you think if they wanted you to briefly summarise the "important details" of your application they wouldn't ask you to do so?

Besides the whole application is a summary and if you indeed believe ECOs are overworked why then give them additional paperwork?

Off course the Eco will never ask him about feeding but its not bad to explain how you plan to spend your daily activities and the plans you have detailed on your cover letter, he's already spending close to ₦500k without feeding I'm guessing no be water him go day drink for the 8days sha?? Instead why u no tell am make him reduce the flight and hostel cost, he will still see cheap flight with Turkish Airlines around ₦317k and hostel around ₦30k....

For the hostel search for KENSAL GREEN BACKPACKERS HOSTEL it should be £76 highest ✌️

I honestly do not understand why people do a cover letter especially in cases where it's not pertinent to do one. All the information an ECO needs to make a decision is already asked (the form).

Keep your application simple and budget, believable in line with disposable income and account balance

The number one factor that will always determine if you qualify for a ‘visiting visa’ would be your ‘ties’ who you are,what's attached to you, what would bring you back home etc (That is why the United States don’t usually check bank statements for visiting visas) then your money! If you can afford it and if the money is available for your use!

I know full housewives who got their UK visas without a penny in their account, why? Husband is sponsoring and they got kids to return to after their visits!

By the way, The UK visa you got with less than 500K in your account, what year was that pls?

Ideally account balance doesn't really explain someone's economic status or situation as the balance might not be truly available to the individual. Rather employment status, asset etc taken holistically with the account statement might.

I have gotten a UK tourist visa with less than N500,000 account balance. I feel one can always attach their account statement but it's not compulsory for sponsored trips. Except of course the sponsor had transferred the funds for the trip into your account i.e 1. You don't want to attach the sponsors account statement showing the line item debit/ transfer.

i did my biometrics on 20th October, got a mail from TLC to come pick up on 6th November (13 working days).
i dont know how i was lucky cause sincerely i was really scared and skeptical on my chances of getting the visa.
cause one i didnt upload my bank statement, there was no point cause my account isnt clear, i have unusual credits there, and from what i gathered here, bank statements issues are always a cause of refusal.

i think what did the trick for me is because i made my application simple, i ensured i summarized all my points and put everything i needed to say in the Application form, i did that because in case the ECO does not open my cover letter i would still be grounded cause i have laid my case already.

Also, i would be travelling with my boyfriend, so i uploaded our pictures and i did an explanation on where we took all the pictures, (i included pictures of us at date night, goofy pictures, e.t.c, but nothing inappropriate) my reason was i needed the pictures as proof of relationship because he is my sponsor for the trip. also in my cover letter i refered the ECO to his bank statement and the actual dates when he sent money to me, because he always send money to me.

finally, for my itinerary, what i did was to google tourist places in uk that relates to my career, rather than stating the generic london eye e.t.c, i needed something to show that albeit that i am travelling for tourism i still want to gain something from the trip.

This worked for me, it may not work for everyone , so this is just for enlightenment, i learnt so much from reading this thread, so i just thought to share my story also.

You didn't need to attach your bank statement as you already stated that your BF is the sponsor of the trip. All the ECO needs to see is your BF account statement. Congratulations

Does it mean that passports with rejected applications don't take up to 15 working days to be returned? cos some people were saying the longer ur application process without refusal email means the application is most likely to get approval. A friend of mine said his biometrics was done on the 20th of October which yesterday made it 13th working days but no email and still @DMC when tracked today. Could it be a positive sign? cos I learnt from the thread that someone who did same date with him has been asked to pick up his passport.

Duration isn't a determinant of approval. Each application is different. When your friend gets a response, he gets a response.

I intend to travel through Turkish airline 10pm on dec 6th will be arriving in the UK on dec 7th...I know alot have been said about these things I am about to ask but things change every day. Will I need PCR test which is a covid 19 test before I leave here. 2ndly the locator form has to be filled online exactly 48 hours before your flight takes off right ? And thirdly which is my final question I hope this lockdown in the UK won't affect such a trip for the 6th of December and I arrive there on the 7th. As at now you don't need a PCR test for Turkish airline. Yes, fill the form no later than 48hrs to your flight. The lock down as at now ends 2nd Dec.

@opomulero, @ Nchabuomo. Thanks for your time. The concern now is that prices have gone up recently and the reservation he made was booked last month of which the price is quite low compare to the current price as at today. Won't they say the price doesn't tally with what is obtainable recently?

I think the worry should be if the ECO puts a call to the airline that they can confirm his reservation. That said as a flight reservation isn't among the requested documents the ECO might not make use of it in coming to a decision.

He is attaching it to make the budget breakdown easier to comprehend. Every reservation that isn't paid for after some days will automatically be cancelled or possibly expire depending on the airline. I also know that ECOs don't require flight payment until after visa has been approved.

Why is he attaching a budget breakdown?

Hello everyone, please a friend was able to make flight reservation last month at the rate of 245k. The said reservation has already been cancelled by the airline. His travel date is February next year and biometrics date is 15th December 2020. Can he go ahead and use same reservation or possibly get a current one that carries the present high price. Generally DO NOT ATTACH what is not requested, it does not make the job of the ECO easier going through needless documents.

If he is bent on attaching a flight reservation he should use a valid one.

Thank you. I thought as much tho. My investment is actually a Fixed deposit. SO what I did In the image I attached is to calculate my net salary for a year and add the total accrued interest on the Fixed deposit as the total amount of money I made in a year.
