Ete, all of them are the same to me. Atiku and his ilks, so, unless his hands are clean, Atiku should not be in the business of sullying OBJ's already tarnished character.
Christianity EtcRe: Do Miracles Happen Today? by Ndipe(m): 10:16am On Jan 29, 2007
Opelovely, applause for your insightful comments. True, there are some Christians, already 'burdened' by the challenges of the world who are seeking a quick-get solution to remedy their problems. At times, while we are looking at various places for miracles, we may tend to lose focus on the single most important gifts in the world, the Salvation of God. Unfortunately, scam artists exists in our midst, deceiving people with wonders to fatten their wallets and drive up membership. Financial woes, relationship problems, sickness, etc are all detriments to lure us away from the Salvation of God. Let us never forget that Salvation that God has freely given us should never be compromised with any other thing.

Funny question, Seun, but how will the Government be able to single out the arsonist(s)?
PoliticsRe: I Took A N2 Billion Loan To Fund My Farm: Obasanjo by Ndipe(m): 7:24am On Jan 29, 2007
Atiku is no different from OBJ. His accusation is akin to the adage, "Pot calls the kettle black". Why cant he declare his assets first, before pointing fingers at Obasanjo?
AutosRe: Motorcycle Operators Banned Indefinitely In Calabar by Ndipe(m): 4:03am On Jan 29, 2007
@my2cents, at least, the government (CRS) is watching out for the citizens, so that's commendable. After reading your discourse that the okadas were given upto a year to comply with the governor's decision to purchase protective gears, and they refused to do so, and even went so far to burn down a police station, then I concur that the ban is merited. At first I thought Duke was unfair, until I read from your article about the extension granted to the Okadas. 13,000 Naira may be a steep price and probably should be reduced, but the era of driving recklessly with no helmets and protective gear should be considered a thing of the past.
Christianity EtcRe: Faithful Followers Of Christ Should Stop Religious Debates by Ndipe(m): 3:32am On Jan 29, 2007
I agree with the poster. Debates sometimes may descend into name calling, and we should avoid it at all cost. It is one thing to defend the Name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, when called upon to do so, but it is different from debating pointlessly over a topic that, some people may post, just to rile up Christians. I say, just ignore it, it is not worth it.

Da, Calabar ayaya etieti. cheesy Obong, thanks for the link. From what I read on the newspage, I think the ban is just temporary and would be repealed once the Okada drivers adhere to the governor's request that they should have two helmets and also be outfitted with a vest to reduce the number of fatalities in the city. Not a bad law at all. I endorse it. Okada drivers should comply with it.

Cool, one of my pals relocated to San Ramon from Fremont. I have some friends in the East bay which is somewhat the center of attraction for Nigerian parties in the bay area. I attend some of the get-togethers. I live in Mountain View, in the South bay area.

That's their lifestyle, and if they appear happy and contented with it, so be it. The adage, "Where ignorance is bliss , " definitely applies to their lifestyle. Back in Naija, I read about a certain tribe in Naija where the inhabitants of the clan stuck to the basic aspects of life, and eschewed modernity. However, their lifestyle was met with a sense of mockery from these journalists. But must everybody conform to the lifestyles of the western world?

Lets say, your parents treated you well throughout your pre-teen life, and you led a normal, memorable life growing up with your siblings. Then the unexpected occurs with the shocking news from the family court, that an unfortunate circumstance led to you being switched at birth. And, now your biological parents want you back. What do you do? The child they had been raising, meanwhile was also switched and thus, belongs to the parents who raised you up. You have the opportunity of either being swapped with the other child back to your real parents, or you choose to cut off ties with your biological parents. What are your choices?

Now, would they be enough taxis in Calabar to meet the needs of the populace? I like Okada because of its accessibility. Life would be quite difficult now, if you don't have a car. Another one, just think of this, the chances of being involved in a car accident is higher than that of Okada. Okada can be averted, because you can quickly step down from the back seat. In a car, with an erratic driver, you are almost trapped especially if you are sitting in the front seat, along with two other passengers who have been squeezed in for more profit.

For those of you who live in Calabar, do you approve of the ban?
AutosRe: Motorcycle Operators Banned Indefinitely In Calabar by Ndipe(m): 12:45pm On Jan 28, 2007
By banning the Okadas completely, the govt is only pouring sand in their garri. Completely disagree with their effort to rid the cyclists of their business. What the government could do should be to educate the public and encourage the Okada drivers, alias "AkaUke" to invest in an helmet for themselves and their passengers. For one to state that they are responsible for 90 percent of accidents in Nigeria is not true. In Lagos, the molue drivers are notorious for driving at a high speed, and these buses rarely come to a stand-still for the passengers to disembark at their location. The passengers jump out, while the buses are driving to the next locale. Have they been banned? No? Despite the rickety structure of the cars, notorious for exhuming poisonous fumes in the already polluted air of Lagos cities.

And another excuse that the elimination of okadas in Calabar would attract more tourists into the city of Calabar is not true. We don't have to adopt every single policies implemented in Europe or Dubai. The Okadas also embody the Calabar spirit and can be juxtaposed along with the new adoptions of the tourist culture. Some former governor of Lagos State, I think Raji Rasaki demolished Maroko, a settlement that was a haven for the underclass in the society. He justified his actions, because an international visitor was coming to Lagos state. So to avoid embarrasment, Maroko had to go.

Would the city of Chicago tear down Cabrini Green housing project if Obasanjo was planning a visit to Illinois? No. This dangerous trend would only breed poverty and also lead to an increase in armed robbery.

Judge signs custody agreement
Court ruling determines status of children switched at birth

Stafford County Circuit Court Judge James W. Haley Jr. approved an agreement Friday made between the families of two girls switched at birth in 1995 at the University Medical Center.

The agreement determines the custody status of Callie Conley, the child residing in Stafford County. The custody arrangement for Rebecca Chittum, the other child, was decided in a Buena Vista court in November.

The Stafford County agreement allows both children to remain with the families who raised them while granting visitation to the biological families.

Haley signed the order presented to the court on Friday, said Cynthia Johnson, attorney for Paula Johnson, who is Rebecca Chittum's biological mother.

The switch was discovered in July 1998 following a custody dispute between Paula Johnson and her ex-boyfriend Carlton Conley. Results from DNA tests showed neither Johnson nor Carlton were the biological parents of Callie Conley. Medical Center officials soon identified the other child involved as Rebecca Chittum, who left the hospital with Kevin Chittum and Whitney Rogers of Buena Vista. The couple was killed in a car accident a few days before officials tried to contact them. Chittum's and Rogers's parents share custody of Rebecca.

In November, a Buena Vista judge denied Paula Johnson custody of her biological daughter Rebecca. The court decreed she would stay with the Rogers and Chittums, and that Paula Johnson would have visitation rights, said Michael A. Groot, attorney for the Chittums.

Johnson then filed to formally adopt Callie so her rights as a parent would be recognized. But with Friday's agreement, Johnson and the Chittums both dropped their bids to adopt Callie.

What are your opinions on this controversy? And would you like to move back to your real family permanently if you found out that you were switched at birth?
FamilyWould You Marry An Actor Or Actress? by Ndipe(op): 1:32am On Jan 27, 2007
At first, it was no biggie for me to even contemplate marrying one, but as I have grown older, I have realized that I would have strong reservations seeing my intended partaking in a love scene in a movie. Honestly, I just can't fathom how men and vice versa react when they watch their spouses in such despicable scene. What is your take on this? For me, no way would I endorse this behavior. And moreso, has anybody ever attributed the breakdown of marriages in Hollywood to the roles that these actors/actresses undertake in movies?

There is a difference. I defended Oprah only because she was criticized for not spending the money on the American soil. My defense was that charity should not be confined to one's borders. Always read my posts 2x before responding.
CelebritiesRe: Nigerian Celebrities Should Be Ashamed by Ndipe(m): 11:08pm On Jan 26, 2007
Why should he be shamed by Mutombo? How do yu know if he donates his time or money to charity in secret? Dikembe goes on the media and announces that he wants to build a hospital in his country, thereby soliciting for donations, and you give him a pat on the back? Why cant he do his charitable deeds in secrets? I just dont care for people who try to do good under the lenses of the public.

Barbaric. Why was he not sentenced to maybe 10 years imprisonment? I am not in support of the death penalty. Very pitiable indeed.
