AjanleKoko: Nobody is over-intellectualizing anything.
And your comment is the example of the partisan-ship I mentioned in my post. Most of Jonathan's touted policies have not even gotten off the ground yet. This isn't a defect of his administration, everybody in Nigeria knows that execution is our greatest challenge. Not that I was defending the man. He just has not gotten started yet, simple.
Your points are well taken, but could easily be interpreted as defense of the man. The President must be held accountable for not doing a great job at getting his programs implemented despite the stated challenges. It seems quite obvious to me that the UN report indicates that there is room for the President to perform much better than he has done so far.

Onlytruth: APGA should go at it ALONE. Alliances tend to hide or mask the true party manifesto and agenda. APGA has a manifesto. If it is not good enough, it should be revised and packaged better.

If we pick a dan kano as VP, we can win! cheesy cool
The realities tell us that an Igbo man stands a better chance of becoming the President if he is the flagbearer of a party not seen as an Igbo party, than being that of APGA. Unfortunately, you people are in denial and may continue to lose unless you wise up and learn how to play winning politics.

Eze m maramma, you have apparently spoken sensibly for a change. To fully determine the sensibility and practicability of your utterances, I need to ask you, which parties APGA will form alliances with, in order to be successful - ACN, ANPP, PDP, AP, or other?
Politics › Re: Prophet Reveals Prophecies For President Jonathan (watch Video) by nduchucks: 3:05pm On Sep 17, 2012
Billyonaire: So you have disagreement about God being IT instead of HE you attribute to IT ? He, is a pronoun for a masculine human. God isnt human and isnt masculine, HE, is a wrong connotation. God is totality of all energies in existence. God is It.
For those of us who believe in the existence of One God/Allah, it is inappropriate to refer to Him as "it". "It" is reserved for intangibles and other animals which are 'lower' than humans, such as dogs, pigs, tortoises, babboons e.t.c. To show deferrence and to indicate that He is above all things, we do not use pronoun he to refer to God, we use the capitalized, proper cased He and Him, instead. When you refer to Him, you capitalize the pronoun. That is the difference.

PointB: I know you are more concerned with the benefit to your people in the North, it would have been better to state this rather than foolishly pretend you are interested in Igbos' welfare.

In you read my text carefully, you would understand clearly that I mentioned our 'brothers' in the SS - Igbo, mischievously carved into SS. I rather the SE trade that 120-170 billion you pluck out from the puff for political power. In any case, SE are not dependant, nor greedy for SS oil. We'll leave that to the desperate region of core North to worry about. Call it anything you like, but the North will fight this battle alone. Wake us up when it is time for SNC or true federalism!
Your intelligence is questionable and your hatred for fellow Nigerians in the North is blinding you from the obvious points Eze Onlytruth was attempting to get you to consider. For his, I pity you and your elk.

PointB: I am inclined to align with OnlyTruth position on this issue, however not in totality! Primarily Let me be a little clearer, our acting big brother especially in our own corner of the jungle is never a sign of weakness, neither is it a sign of cluelessness. In my book, it is a show of extreme confidence, and an illustration of the conviction of self believe. It has brought us this far after the war, it will take us further into the future.

Surviving in the jungle the way we have made us resilient, and enterprising. Why change a drastically a winning formula, especially at the detriment of our neighbour, and brothers, whose wellbeing benefits us in the short and long term.
This kind of "acting big brother" is not only a sign of weakness but a sign of foolishness, shortsightedness, and stuupidity. If the illegal scheme is scrapped, it would release billions of naira to you and your people. My rough estimate is that the SE region stands to gain N120 - N170 billion per year in federal allocation.

What are you gaining in the SE by giving up this kind of money. If this is the price for being a big brother, then you people are worse than stuupid. What are your short or long term benefits?

If I were you, I'd listen to what your Eze is saying. The onshore=offshore scheme should be scrapped and you all should look at your own interest, for once, and support the scrapping of the scheme.
Politics › Re: Bakassi Has Never Been Part Of Nigeria – Robert Clarke by nduchucks: 1:39am On Sep 15, 2012
Dede1: Chucks, what has come over you lately? The plank of my argument on Bakassi falls in line with legal presentation of JUDGE Al Khasaweh who argued that the treaty of protection between Obong of Calabar and Queen Victoria of UK which preceded the births of Nigeria and Cameroon should have been the legal benchmark guiding the decision of the so-called World Court.

The decision of World Court on the issue of Bakassi was in its entirety the validation of colonial rules whether good or bad. Both British and Germany have no natural and fundamental link to the area in discuss except colonialism. It is rather unfortunate that essence of Biafra tends to cloud the amour of intelligent endowed to certain human beings. There were people of Efik in Bakassi before the arrival of Europeans.

Since you blindingly injected the Great Biafra into this discussion, I must assure you that if Biafra was still at play, the nation state would not have honored the legal charade staged by World Court in Hague because Biafra’s independence would have nothing to do with either Britain or Germany.

By the way, you were spot on at the postulation about what will make me happy, thus, disintegration of Nigeria and realization of Great Republic of Igbo land or Great Biafra (entire Igbo land and what used to be eastern region of Nigeria)
Bros, I happen to agree with your stance regarding Bakassi hence I did not challenge your position. What I was hoping to do was to give you another opportunity for self examination which would lead you to drop this disintegration obsession of yours. It appears however that you are a hard nut to crack.

Politics › Re: Nigeria: Fed Govt Forecloses Review Of Onshore-offshore Dichotomy by nduchucks: 4:03pm On Sep 14, 2012
Onlytruth: Alright, here is my take.

The current FG forecloses revisiting the abrogation of Onshore/Offshore dichotomy in derivation; what this tells me is that it is a POLITICAL situation, not a LEGAL situation per se, because the legal institution in Nigeria (and elsewhere round the world) always follows political decisions. In other words, another president in the future can support revisiting this issue and "inspire" (a la Nigerian way) the national assembly to amend relevant sections of the constitution to make this happen. In other words, this thing is not over by a long shot.

Now, my own concern is that I see that Ndigbo support this policy alongside other southerners. What I don't understand is WHY we should support it, especially while some people in the south care less about what we want (no matter how fair they may be).
All I know for now, is that states in SE can do with more federal allocations, and I don't see why we should not go for those allocations (no matter how small).

Unless someone (in SE) convinces me otherwise, I am about to throw this thing under the bus, because it does not cover MY interests in the Nigerian jungle.
As for those who say that it can disintegrate the Nigerian nation, I say you are the greatest liars on earth! You know I say the truth!
So please spare me that crap talk. Thanks in advance!

So Umu Igbo, why should we continue to support this thing politically?

Politics › Re: Bakassi Has Never Been Part Of Nigeria – Robert Clarke by nduchucks: 2:11pm On Sep 14, 2012
Dede1: Those moronic Nigeria leaders who gave away Bakassi due to certain pressures were also at the center of draconian boundary adjustment in Nigeria and were pulled on the nose by certain self interest. I am not surprised Nigeria has no bright future.
This self hatred of yours needs serious examination. The only thing that you think will make you happy is the disintegration of Nigeria, wherein you get your Igbo nation (a.k.a biafra).

You seem to have forgottten that, even if that happens, the land mass which forms biafra will remain in its current location. That means you will still be faced with many of the same problems in addition to new ones, such as wars between your various Igbo groups fighting for superiority and power. You will still be ruled in biafra by the same useless leaders you currently have, unless you have a plan of getting rid of them, their relatives, and cronies, who have enough money and power to maintain rulership over you. What is your plan of seizing control of power in this biafra? Don't dodge, be specific.

Politics › Re: South-East To Get An Additional State - GEJ by nduchucks: 3:05am On Sep 13, 2012
There are actually 45 requests for the creation of new states on the table of the Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution. Six of these requests may be granted with the first, already announced by the President, located in the SE. We really should be merging states instead of breaking them up, each geopolitical zone should actually become a state IMHO.

These are the requests from South-East; Aba (Abia), Adada (Enugu), Orashi (Imo), Ugwuaku (Imo, Abia, Anambra), Etiti (Imo, Abia, Anambra), Equity (Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi), Njaba (Imo) and Orimili (Anambra, Imo, Delta). Abia, Imo, and Anambra to be broken up.

I believe the new SE state will be Etiti or Ugwuaku state.

(1) He began the construction of 400 Almajiri schools across the country.

For me, GEJ will have a hat trick if he promotes legislation and forces NASS to pass same, which would mandate primary school education throughout the country. Parents who do not comply should face imprisonment and/or heavy fines.

(2) Great progress in the area of Agriculture

Another area which has been neglected by previous Presidents is Agriculture. OBJ, who saw the enormous profit potential of that area, shamefully built the great Ota farm for his personal gains, instead of promoting such across the country.

Nasarawa state has just pledged to support a $90 million investment, projected to be Africa’s largest rice farm established by Olam Nigeria Limited. The farm will cover 10,000 hectares of fully irrigated commercial farm in Rukubi-Ondorie area of Doma in Nasarawa State.

To support this and other such projects, GEJ's government is quietly resuscitate Abandoned Dams including the Doma dam which will support the said rice farm.

I don't need to say anything about GEJ's support for the Cassava industry.

May I also inform some of the people who are opposed to grazing reserves, that the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources, Nigeria has already officially demarcated 4125 grazing reserves or routes. Out of this number, only one third is put in use, whereas 270 grazing reserves have been put into cultivation.

In order to curb farmers-pastoralists’ clashes, the federal government in September 2009 carried out demarcation of a grazing route running through the central states of Nasarawa, Benue and Plateau. Other grazing routes also marked out and demarcated were started across Katsina and Bauchi States, spanning across Abuja.

Further grazing routes were also demarcated from Sokoto in the Northwest to Oyo State in the Southwest as well as another 2,000km grazing route from Adamawa State in the Northeast to Calabar in the Niger Delta (UN-IRIN,2009).

It is not enough to demarcatethese reserves on paper, these officials need to spend a chunk of theor N78billion budget to put them in use.

Dede1: Tomato, Onion and Yam farmers in the northern region of Nigeria should equally go to federal government to demand land from all the 36 states so as to grow tomato, onion and yam. I guess the kolanut farmers should demand the wasteful acreage of land from northern region of Nigeria for growing kolanut.

The Fulnai herdsmen should raise their cows in their State of Origin and transport their product through road or rail to various markets in southern Nigeria. State governments should stop the idiotic idea of allowing cows to roam through their territories.
Stop pretending, I know you see the big picture. Stop hating.

First of all, let me inform you that "State of Origin" may be replaced by "State of Residence" on all official data collecting forms after the constitution review committee completes its duty. Secondly, what does this have to do with finding solutions to the problems described in this thread. What mischief are you up to now, with your question?

Katsumoto: You are correct with regards to setting boundaries; farmers should also protect and mark their properties. But I am not sure how much this would help considering a herdsman took his cattle onto the runway at Port Harcourt. Clearly, he was aware he was trespassing but did it anyway.
That's what I am talking about. How could they have exposed the runway of an airport to such a breach? The herdsmen would have found alternative routes if the airport was properly secured. We must also remember that most of these herdsmen are not educated in the conventional manner and their perceptions of events e.t.c. are not typical. They may see the runway as another encroachment into their routes which they've used for decades. Right or wrong, that is their reality which we cannot dismiss willy nilly.

Katsumoto: The farmer may not have cattle and perhaps the farmers are not sharp enough to see an opportunity to sell grass but the onus is on the owner of the cattle to approach the farmer and not the other way round.
Let's agree to disagree on this point.

Katsumoto: I stand by my point, setting aside federal land for use by private business owners will send the wrong message. Besides, the government will have to resort to compulsory acquisition to feed this demand. I have no doubt, this is a recipe for further conflict. Just look at Plateau state.
We'll have to agree to disagree on this point as well. It suffice to say that the federal governmnent's budget for Ministry of Agric in 2012, is over N78 billion. A lot of that money is used to provide free fertilizers, equipment, low interest loans, e.t.c to the same farmers who are complaining about the herdsmen. A fraction of that N78billion would go a long way in looking for a proper solution to this problem. I do believe that the solution should include setting aside some grassing land and maintaining them for some herdsmen (I'm not talking about settled Fulanis).

ilugunboy: Forceful confiscation of some people lands in the name of federal land to further the interest of some other people to you is a right thing to do shey?

Rigid posture like yours is what is teetering Nigeria onto the brinks.
Where did I mention forceful confiscation of anyone's land? If you are an illiterate with a comprehension problem, stay da heck out of my posts. mumu
