Why did Orient Petroleum decide to build oil wells at the border? First wells are typically built where the highest concentration of the resources are located.

afam4eva: MInd you, if Kogi is made an oil producing state, the same status will be accorded to Enugu state as well.
And what is wrong with that, if there is oil in Enugu state in commercial quantities?

You asked a very sensible question below:

afam4eva: But why did this oil wells have to be close to the border?
Enquiring minds want to know - it smacks of roguery to me.
Politics › Re: Anambra/Kogi Oil Wells - Ownership Still Unresolved by nduchucks: 2:46pm On Sep 06, 2012
May I asked you honorable gentlemen, what the criteria for declaring a State, "An Oil Producing State" is? As far as I know, any state where oil/gas has been discovered in commercial quantities becomes a oil producing state and receives funds from the Federal government. Since no one is disputing that the oil blocks which contain the oil lies within Kogi, (and other states, which have already been declared Oil Producing States), why would GEJ irresponsibly announce that Anambra will be declared an oil producing state without declaring Kogi as same?

This president of ours is prone to gaffs, irresponsibilities, and acts befiting of strictly cretinous people.

afam4eva: One can just smell hate throughout this forum. Just because Anambra was made an oil producing state, people want to commit suicide. Even people that have never been to Anambra or Kogi are supporting Kogi because anywhere else is better than Igboland. If it was Kogi that was made an oil producing state and Anambra state claims that the oil wells are located in their state, you'll see how people will jump and start calling Igbos thieves and land grabbers. I hope the hate you people have for NdiIgbo will not choke ya'll to your grave one day. Whether oil or no oil, Igbo land will move forward.
This kind of effeminate emotionalism has no bearing whatsoever on justice. You should stand for justice regardless of whose ox is gored - that is what civilized people do. Why are you getting all twisted because people are asking for justice in this case? Would you prefer future milliancy in the region as a way of resolving this dispute?

It should not matter whether the states in question are Anambra and Kogi; or Lagos and Abeokuta, you should be on the side of justice - stop giving people the opportunity to call you cry babies.
Politics › Re: Anambra/Kogi Oil Wells - Ownership Still Unresolved by nduchucks: 1:55pm On Sep 06, 2012
bashr8: oil wells belong to orient petroleum whether its in kogi , anambra, enugu, enugu etc . that shell have oil wells in the niger delta does not mean the brithish own nigeri delta, all these people should stop mentioning anambra state. if you want to be declared an oil producing state, simply go to abuja where such politics are done.
Yeap. that is precisely what Kogi should do, go to Abuja and ask for justice in this matter. It is frankly irresponsible of the President to be announcing to the world that Anambra will be declared an oil producing state, when these issues are yet to be resolved.,
....funny enough the oil wells where oil was struck in high quantity, are all located in Anambra, with Enugu having about 4% of it,Kogi about 5.5% and Edo 2.2%,while about 88% of it are in Anambra!no doubt the North is struggling by all means to feel amoung,by putting pressure on Kogi state to keep laying claims for political reasons!ordinarily Orient oil will have to give some compensatn to any adjourning state that shares some of those oil wells, according to there percentage contributn!if i may advice Kogi,Anambra is too powerful to be intimidated and more so if this drags on,Kogi will only end up infuriating the host communities of umuleri,Aguleri,Anam and it may spell doom to the kogi Neighbours!i still suggest the good relationship and neighbourliness shared btw the two state shld stand that way and then knowing that we have Igala's(both Anambra&Kogi) on two side of the divides,we must make sure we settle amicably!
It is not enough to throw percentages rigged in your favor around without providing any evidence of the accuracy of the numbers or the validity of the scientific methods used to obtain them.

Secondly, the area claimed to be in Anambra which supposedly contains the bulk of the reserves is claimed to actually be located in Kogi. See u 'Barawos' in court, hopefully in Kaduna or Abuja court. cheesy

Tinubu fought OBJ vigorously and gained his notoriety partly because of the conflicts. Now Mimiko is giving Tinubu a taste of his own medicine.

I wonder whether Mimiko will be the new/younger face of the future Yoruba leader. I like him already because he is one of the few people in the SW with the guts to take on Tinubu.

BTW What's his religion?

ACTION Congress of Nigeria (ACN) National leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu yesterday spoke of his dream for democracy when issues and ideas will dominate politics.

He was reflecting on the preparation ahead of the National Convention of the Democratic which opened yesterday in Chalotte, North Carolina, United States (U.S.).

Tinubu said there is much to be learnt from the American politics before Nigeria can get on track for the journey to true and ideal democratic culture.

There was security lock down in Charlotte, the city hosting the convention .

A tight security cordon was thrown around the roads leading to the Time Warner Convention Grounds.

Over 30 security screening and sweeping points were mounted.

It was gathered that over 1,000 officers in mufti, drawn from around the country were drafted.

More than 4, 000 Police and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents were in place.

The city looked impregnable. Access to the major hotels around the convention centre was almost impossible.

Guests must be cleared first by the security desk at the hotel and from the convention list.

Tinubu arrived in Charlotte on Monday in the company of Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi, Lagos Speaker Adeyemi Ikuforiji and former Lagos Commissioner for Information and Strategy Dele Alake for the convention. The group, whose names have been verified on the VIP list, will be joined by others to hear President Barack Obama’s wife Michelle, who delivered her speech.

Her speech set the tone for the convention.

President Obama will give his acceptance speech tomorrow night.

Let me reiterate that the best way to resolve your differences and express your displeasure is through political and judicial means. What is stopping you people from going to court and fighting to render these acts you oppose, illegal and criminal, if you can?

Your online noise making has zero effect.

kpogede77: Ndu chucks, u are a big fool , what business do we have with animal northerners who have chosen to live their lives in the stone age. Boko Haram in the federal police planted bomb in the office of the Delta state Head of Service this morning. An office that is few meters away from police HQ Asaba. 70% of the police and NSCSD officers on guard there are northerners.Thank Alah that d bomb did not explode, there would not have been enough virgins to take care of thousands of Aboki that will be sent untimely to heaven. State police is our own sharia law and it has come to stay no going back
This kpogede77 is obviously a cretin.

You people should look within to find out who was trying to settle political scores by trying to blow up Delta State Head of Service. Your savagery is well documented, olodo. It appears the in-thing now is to blame Boko Haram for all your problems. You people used to blame the core-North, now its BH - when are you going to start taking responsibilities for your own foolishness.

Small time, dem go carry ya wife go because of your inadequacies and you go blame Boko Haram. Olodo

@ekt_bear, for the umpteenth time, State police does not exist anywhere in Nigeria, period.

eGuerrilla: With the above, Mallam ndu_chucks, surely even you must concede hisbah now operates way beyond the outer-bounds of its original remit.

Whatever @OP's democratic credentials are, the article posted raises valid points which can not be easily discountenanced in my humble opinion.
You want to be the Judge and Jury at the same time, kwo? Well, you can't eat your cake and have it at the same time.

You people need to get out of the bush and learn how things are done in civilized manners. Why don't you challenge the establishment of Hisbah in court if you are so sure that their establisment and operations are criminal and unconstitutional?

The OP and his anti democratic and politically unsophisticated Ohanaeze show their true colors once again. There is no State police in any state in our country.

The so-called Hisbah guards are certainly not policemen. Their actions are fully supported by the constitution.

Instead of the said unsophisticated fools to work within the system through the constitution review committee, headed by an Igbo legislator, they are fermenting trouble with provocative remarks. Those bushmen never learn. SMH

Alhaji Musa Otto is a Sunni Muslim who practices the "orthodox" version of Islam. Now, the Shi'as who are adherents of Shia Islam, the second largest denomination of Islam, started competing with Alhaji Musa Otto's group a few years ago and are succeeding in building a larger followership.

Instead of Alhaji Musa to compete ideologically for followership, he is now calling the Shi'as in the area, Boko Haram, so that he will introduce percecution of his competition. Our dear Alhaji Musa is playing dirty.

Boko Haram ko, Boko Krisna ni. Alhaji Musa Otto might as well change his name to Oto l'onrin. olodo cheesy
