Bigoted posters are blaming Muslims, though the Muslims were physically attacked by the barbaric Oro cult. SMH

Its time to destroy those Oro shrines where human sacrifices and other horendous activities take place. Its time to leave these outdated, animalistic, and outright uncivilized practices behind us. This is 2012 for goodness sake.

Onlytruth: IMHO, this is the most ENLIGHTENED judicial ruling to come out of Africa -nay the world- in MANY years. A lot of governments are basically abusing the powers of state by muzzling citizens' right to freedom of speech and association. As we enter a new era of enlightenment in the world, more and more agents of state who violate citizens' right of free speech and association will be help PERSONALLY ACCOUNTABLE for such crimes against humanity.

One great moment of pride for African jurisprudence. cool
This is like comparing Apples to Spoilt grape fruit. The aggrieved Kenyans are trying to secede in a civil manner, unlike Onlytruth and his crew, who went to war, lost the war, and continue to live in denial.
Politics › Re: Plan To Demolish Mosque In Onitsha: Muslims Protest by nduchucks: 7:40am On Jul 28, 2012
As they say, "Perception Is Reality". In the Lagos case, the state government proper;y managed the demolition and most residents of Lagos including the muslims perceived that the demolition was the right thing to do.

In this case, the state government has mismanaged the demolition plan as well as the expectations of the muslims. The realities is that, muslims now perceive the planned demolition of their primary place of worship as an act of aggression.

This is the biggest mosque in Onitsha. Their are no more than 2 other places of worship in all of Onisha big enough to hold more than 50 worshipers shocked These state government decision makers should use wisdom to avert escalation of already tense adversarial relationships in the state.

@Onlytruth, as usual you display your foolishness. hapu moslems and their main place of worship. Nigeria is a secular society, olodo

Most of the posters so far are quite vain. Beauty is much more than facial beauty enhanced with fake hair, fake nose, fake breasts e.t.c.

These girls have natural beauty and I'm sure that some of them have wonderful personalities, are quite intelligent, and can probably Bleep better than the ugly and fake lovers of most of you. SMH.

I'm glad the offending officer has been fined for his offense. What's now left is for Fashola to publicly apologize to the Army for publicly embarasing a commisioned officer for cheap publicily when the whole affair could have been dealt with without the drama.

Politics › Re: Jonathan: I Can Rule Beyond 8 Years by nduchucks: 5:35pm On Jul 24, 2012
One could come up with various scenarios wherein a person could be the president of Nigeria for 10 years, 15years, or more if the constitution is interpreted literally. Thus GEJ could argue that he is eligible to rule Nigeria as the President for 10 years - his 8years plus 2 years after Yar'Adua's death. If yar'Adua had died 1 day after he was sworn in, then GEJ could argue that he has a constitutional right to rule for 12 years!!

To avoid these kinds of inconsistencies, the Supreme court will look at the intent of the authors of the constitution along with other issues. I believe any sane Supreme court would rule that the intention of the framers of the constitution is for a president to serve for no more than 8years total, under any condition. In that case, GEJ may contest in 2015 but will not be able to serve out the 4 years. The best thing to do then, would be for GEJ not to contest at all in 2015.

We'll find out soon enough how wise our supreme court is.

Are you a Christian at all or an (TD Joshua)idol worshiper? Your question does not seem like one a Christian would ask. Many of you people seem to have more faith in TD Joshua than in the real God. I hope you remember that thou shalt have no other gods before Him and that He is a jealous God. A word is enough.

This is a great marketing and/or advertisement campaign.

My own question for the good pastor is this: why did he and his congregation not pray about the inpending tragegy? He called upon the people of America to pray but I find it telling that he and his congregation did not halt the service momentarily to conduct a special prayer to avoid this doom.

superior1: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is not making use of the investigative report on the fuel subsidy management conducted by the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee led by Mr. Farouk Lawan.

Investigations show that the EFCC leadership views the Lawan committee’s report, which is enmeshed in a $620,000 bribe controversy involving Lawan and oil magnate, Femi Otedola, as a mere fact-finding exercise lacking the force for prosecution.
Wonders shall never end in our dear country until many of these incompetent fools are dealt with severely. According to the bolded text above, the EFCC was planning to use the Lawan committee report as the only tool to be used to prosecute the subsidy thieves.

How else must any sane person view the report if not as a mere fact-finding exercise? The lazy, corrupt, and incompetent EFCC was supposed to use the report and any other pertinent report as a starting point in their own investigations and evidence gathering exercises. It is irresponsible of EFCC to completely ignore pertinent information contained in the Farouk committee report or any other report. They are all a bunch of corrupt and compromised goats.

What is the sense in announcing to the world that the Farouk report lacked force of prosecution when it is a very obvious thing? Lazy fools. SMDH

So, who is smart in Nigeria: a man who insists on the law, or another who support lawlessness simply because soldiers are involved?
I cannot REMOTELY connect these Nigerian army men with the quality of the men we had in army in the 60s. How things have changed!
Quite sad. sad
Eze, mechionu gi. Why did you ignore all the posts where I refused to condone the actions of the soldiers who violated traffic laws?

They need to find ways to enforce the laws without resorting to publicly humiliating the very few Army officers who violate them. It makes common sense. We all agree that violating any law is bad and should not go unchecked.

If I were you, I wouldn't disparage our fine officers because of the actions of a few bad apples. These officers have fought on our behalf and some died in the process, when they go out and represent us in peace keeping and other operations. Many return without limbs and others return as decorated heros.

Most of you online fools and warriors will never come closed to making 0.0005% of the sacrifices made by most of the fine Army officers you are villifying here. Egbe ndi Israeli piafuka gi isi to all of una.

naptu2: That has already been done.

There's a body called the Lagos State Security Council. The Governor is the chairman of the council and the Brigade Commander, 9th Brigade Ikeja, Commander NNS Beecroft, Air Force Commander, Lagos State Police Commissioner, State Director SSS and other security chiefs are members of the council.

They have issued orders banning security officials from using the BRT lane. They've also banned army, navy and airforce stickers, since it was discovered that people use them as a cover to break laws. Yet we still have law breakers such as this colonel.
Why are you bent on defending mediocrity. You have to have enforcement mechanisms in place for the order to be meaningful, what are those mechanisms? Are you implying that this security council is made up of incompepetent people?
Do the soldiers not have superiors and what makes you think the superiors themselves are in support of their juniors violating the traffic laws?
Look, these people are not serious about solving this problem. All Fashola had to do was invite the commanding officers to a meeting, cozie up with them and give them a great incentive to enable them to issue an immediate order to their subordinates not to use BRT lanes unless in an emergency. Violators would be disobeying orders from their superiors and the punishment for that is clear to all.

With such an order, the menace will stop instantly. Photo Ops will never resolve the issue. Shi kena.

Politics › Soyinka Backs Patience Jonathan's Appointment As Bayelsa Perm Sec by nduchucks(op): 3:22pm On Jul 18, 2012
This great Nigerian go soon fal1 my hand.

NOBEL Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka has supported calls for regional co-operation and autonomy, devolution of powers from the centre, community policing and the non-posting of Youth Corps’ members to violence-ridden areas.

He, however, disagreed with the condemnation that has trailed the appointment of the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, as a Permanent Secretary by the Bayelsa State Government, arguing that “after all, the lady in question is not constitutionally disqualified from the office.”

Prof. Soyinka condemned the Boko Haram insurgency, describing it as “a manifestation of a virulent religious backwardness.”

He called for the streamlining of education in Nigeria especially at the tertiary level.

Soyinka spoke at a lecture he delivered at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State.

In his lecture titled “Celebration of Good Governance,” Prof. Soyinka lauded the Akpabio Administration for what he called “the quantum leap in development” of the state he last visited 12 years ago.

He commended the Governor for not differentiating between Federal and State roads in road construction and advised other states to emulate “the same pattern of development.”

The Deputy Governor, Nsima Ekere, attributed the uncommon transformation of the state to the remarkable leadership provided by Governor Godswill Akpabio.

Speaking after the lecture, Ekere stressed that good leadership was the real ingredient to good governance as demonstrated by Chief Akpabio.

The Deputy Governor also stated that the Governor was able to achieve so much because of the team he had painstakingly chosen.

“What we are witnessing in Akwa Ibom State is because the team is led by a very focused and committed captain of ship,” he said. “In Akwa Ibom State, the leadership painstakingly chooses the other team members.”

Mr. Ekere thanked Prof. Soyinka for acknowledging the development strides of the Akpabio Administration after taking up the Governor’s challenge to visit the state and see things for himself.

He assured that the State Government will make good use of the advice given by the Nobel Laureate in the course of his visit.

The Deputy Governor supported Prof. Soyinka’s call for healthy competition between State and Local Governments “so that we can develop together and move this country forward.”

He called on all Nigerians to support the fight against corruption which, he said, was devastating and eating deep into the fabric of the nation.

Mr. Ekere explained that the State Government organized the interactive session between the students and Prof. Soyinka to enable the students to learn from the Nobel Laureate and advised them to read and study Prof. Soyinka’s books, shun all forms of cultism and strive to become responsible citizens of the country.
