To be honest, Ndigbo should be ashamed to call these looting governors, leaders. Most of the so-called leaders belong in jail, frankly. Ojukwu is probably rolling over in disgust at the actions/inactions of these fools.
Politics › Re: Could This Be The Reason For Boko Haram? by nduchucks: 1:28am On Dec 31, 2011
Blind loyalty coupled with pathological tribalism has a way of severely wounding an otherwise sensible analysis. Boko Haram probably did not set out to start a revolution, but Bisi Akande's take that BH's actions mark the beginning of a revolution is quite reasonable.

The cancer which has been eating up Nigeria is corruption perfected by PDP and the political elite in our country. These elite come from every part of the country, North, east, west, and South. Now GEJ had a wonderful opportunity to write his name in history, in golden ink, by organizing the best election in our history but he chose to break his own promise, ran for the high office, and broke the gentleman's agreement that has held our fragile democracy together for many years. To make matters worse, he blatantly rigged the election further insulting our intelligence.

GEJ and his handlers are now faced with BH, a force they are incapable of dealing with.  BH indeed enjoys the support of the masses since the group is the only one which seems to be fighting for them. I'm afraid that we are only 2 or 3 bombings away from a situation where Nigerians will demand that the millitary takes over because of the inability of GEJ's government to deal with the security problem.

The time has come to send the irresponsible elites among us who continue to wickedly loot with impunity and take actions and inactions which result to the deaths of thousands of Nigerians, to permanent exile, one way or the other.

We are at freaking war and our commander in chief is AWOL. This AWOL requires immediate impeachment - it is inexcusable at all levels.

HAPPY NEW YEAR Nigerians. TO KEEP NIGERIA ONE IS A TASK THAT MUST BE DONE- Our motto back in the mid-sixties, our motto today.

Onlytruth:
Actually I think that "Olodostein" is your creature.
He believes in your "all Nigerian politicians are the problem" theory. The problem with that theory is HISTORY, both past and evolving.
As we speak, Christians (mainly Igbo of course) are leaving the North in droves, while Northerners are going about their business in Eastern Nigeria. Now, tell me how a fair mind can make such a statement.

Eastern Nigerian politicians have been outside of central government power for 40 years without instigating mass murder against any Northerner.
Northern Nigerian politicians have only been away from power for less that 2 years, and Southern Christians are being butchered DAILY for it.

Any Igbo who makes such a statement needs to have his lineage examined. cool
Eze Ndigbo, your post shows that you lack knowledge and are quite naïve when it comes to political issues facing Nigeria. You, like your political leaders in the East have consistently goofed and miscalculated even when necessary actions are in full view of the most foolish observer.

In your great wisdom, you blame the Northern Nigerian politicians for inciting violence and sadly, assign the responsibility for recent violence on them, ko? This is another example of the denial and bad judgement that you and your leaders have exhibited time and time again.

Do you know why ACN fielded a Northerner to be their flag bearer? Try to ponder the question a bit. I don’t have time to educate you this morning. It suffices to say that GEJ broke a gentleman’s agreement and he naively thought that by doing so, he would have defeated the Northern power brokers. Well, I don’t believe he is having a good time with his rulership at the moment. By the time all is said and done, he may end up with the blood of hundreds of thousands of Nigerians in his hands. I predict he will order the killing of thousands of Niger Deltans shortly – The shiit will soon hit the fan down there.

Some of you lili livered, effeminate, and scared posters should be ashamed of yourselves for not having faith in the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. Even if this were a reprisal attack, no yawa.

I am fully convinced that our commander will promptly deal with wayword fishermen who try to cause trouble particularly when the fishermen's actions threaten the livelihood of our commander-in-chief directly. It should take no more than 1 week to clean up ND. Carry go GEJ, no mind naysayers.  cool

The Lagos State government owes you absolutely nothing, fulani.

Go and face your polio-infested, poverty stricken, Boko Haramified, "allahu akbar" states.

Surely your expertise would prove valuable to that part of the country.
Once again, I am yet to see any report with alternative proposals and/or options which advised purchasing these used train cars. If you have seen such, please post it here.

The onus is actually on the Lagos state government and her defenders, to prove that the decision to buy these used car trains is reasonable. Your post above has not shown that the decision to buy these used cars is reasonable. Try another angle if you can.

BTW, I pay some taxes in Lagos and the government owes me accountability. No amount of name calling on your part can change that. What's with your bigoted comment sef?  This bigotry is starting to consume you buddy!

Does this even make sense to you? Like I said earlier, let us all think through what we are saying before we post.[/quote]You are the one that is not making sense in this case. Please post the reports which show the engineering and cost rationale for choosing these second hand trains over brand new ones from sellers, other than these Canadians. I can see that your frustration with a President who seems impotent when it comes to defeating Boko Haram, a terrorist organization, had led you to the conclusion that Boko Haram is a tool of the caliphate. Your response to the current Boko Haram war in not unexpected really. You too are a victim of neglect and presidential inaction. My suggestion to you is that you should not allow anything to becloud your objectivity.

Can you please tell us why and what engineering rational you based this on?

Are you a rail engineer?
You should answer that questions first. Please tell us what enginnering rational or studies revealed to you that you cannot find brand new trains for the same cost or cheaper, and trains with the same or better engeneering and economic value than the second hand ones from Canada.

I am not blindly criticising but I must confess that I am disappointed in Fashola and his team in this case. Ekoile, you have been forthcoming in your posts, do not suddenly start sounding like  a sycophant.

It should be obvious from common sense that projects such as this require brand new trains. I'm of the opinion that those of you attempting to justify the aquisition of these second hand trains should hide your faces in shame.

Beaf: Unfortunately, boko haram is asking that the entire country becomes a sharia entity, not just the core-North. So, if they cannot be purged from the army, it would take all out war to eject them from the country. A last gasp might be found in a national conference, but the fools would want to bomb that too.
Beaf, you are getting dumber as you age o.  cheesy

Boko Haram, is asking that the entire country becomes a sharia entity and your recommendation for dealing with this terrorist organization which is at war with Nigeria is to implemet a bigoted plan of ethnic cleansing of army??

Listen very carefully:

(1)Boko Haram and their sympathizers are a minority of the population in the North.
(2)They've declared a war against Nigeria and are successfully killing Nigerians at will.

When will the commander in chief defend Nigerians and fight this war?

Politics › Nigeria’s Biggest Power Generating Plant Shuts Down-Due To Lack Of Spare Parts by nduchucks(op): 9:44am On Dec 15, 2011
This is disgraceful. The government has no business running power generation corporations or any others for that matter, this Power industry needs to be completely deregulated right away.

Nigeria’s biggest power generating plant, the Egbin Thermal Station, has been shut down creating a 1,080 Mega Watts drop in power generation in the country.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the station was shut down on Tuesday around 3.50 p.m.

A senior official of the PHCN, who preferred anonymity, told NAN in Lagos on Wednesday that all the facilities at the power station were completely shut down.

The source said that the hydro component of the power station, called the “bi-minerasation plant” and which had been poorly maintained over the years, caused the collapse of the entire station.

He said that the power station was shut down when it could no longer generate power, adding that lack of spare parts was the major challenge facing the plant.

“The failed hydro plant has been repaired several times and because the plant is obsolete, getting the spare parts has become a challenge. We have been managing the plant for over 30 to 40 years. When it breaks down, it takes about five days for it to come up again,’’   shocked the source said.

He said that PHCN officials were already in Abuja, working towards resuscitating the station but Saturday, December 17, 2011, is the earliest date by which the plant will be functional.

A correspondent of NAN, who visited the station, confirmed that the station had been shut down and the workers were seen idling around.

It is becoming more and more likely that the inability of the current government to arrest these violent acts and bombings will embolden the perpetrators to detonate an instrument within the vicinity of NASS's.  This act which one hopes never takes place, may be the needed encouragement which will enable the government to treat these terrorist acts with the utmost urgency it deserves.

Please react to my previous post. In case you missed it, I reproduce it here:

Please include in your replies information about where the Abacha family got the hundreds of millions of dollars recovered by foreign governments and returned to Nigeria.

Help us explain where the $600 returned to Nigeria from Switzerland came from. It will be recalled that Okonjo- Iweala was instrumental to the repatriation of over $600m stashed away by the Abacha family in Switzerland during her first stint as minister under the former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration.

I trust in your customary manner you will try to be honest in your submissions.

Politics › It Is Time To Sell Nigeria's Refineries For N500 Each (Poll Added to thread) by nduchucks(op): 8:13am On Dec 12, 2011
Back in August of 2011, President Goodluck Jonathan gave a 24-month deadline to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to put the four refineries back to shape, a move meant to avert the continued reliance on fuel importation for 30 million litres daily consumption in Nigeria.

The President has since declared that fuel subsidy will be stopped and his administration has announced that there is no provision of funds for fuel subsidy in the 2012 budget proposal to be presented to the National Assembly tomorrow.

The president has my full support for both moves. The removal of fuel subsidy is a necessary "evil" and madam Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala will in due time be thanked by us for her foresight.

My concern now is that, I don't trust NNPC to successfully put all four refineries back in shape - I mean, why have they not done so to date? The NNPC really needs to be scrapped, shikena!!

I call on GEJ and his administration to sell the refineries to proven refinery operators such as those in the USA, Venezuela, and other countries. Governments should not be running refineries or any business enterprise for that matter. They have their hands full in matters of governing and we all know that they've screwed up every single business venture they've attempted to go into.

I say, sell those refineries off for a token N500 and let the buyers invest their own funds to fix the refineries. All of these things can be accomplished in a very short time.

Lets support GEJ on this subsidy issue and in his effort to resolve our uninterruptible power supply problem.

Explosion Hits Mosque In Sapele

I hope the same people who blame every carnage these days to Boko Haram will not start saying this is the beginnning of responses to Boko Haram activities. More than likely somebody dey brew Ogogoro nearby.

LAGOS  (AFP) – An explosion damaged a mosque early Saturday in a town in Nigeria’s southern oil rich Niger Delta, police and a government source said.

“There was an incident in Sapele,… several persons were injured, but no deaths,” a government official who asked not to be named told AFP.

Delta State police spokesman Charles Muka dismissed the explosion as an “internal fire incident” and said only one person was wounded.

“Only one person sustained injuries,” said Muka. He could not ascertain how many worshippers were inside the mosque at the time of the blast.

“It was not a bomb, we suspect an internal fire. There is no trace of a bomb blast,” he said.
