I was in the cadet in my secondary school days and we had weekly drills and parades in full military gears.  On independence days we would participate in the parade before the governor.   Once in a while for state events we stood guard around the VIP stand.  Occassionally we were visited by squads from NDA to give us pep talk about career in the military.
