new refugees that were sacked by boko from the North or the old ones sacked from previous rejections by Hausa? ![]() |
so a queen will adopt a muslim name without being muslimYour brain is wired in one direction. . . it lacks capability for complex understanding so let me see what will be a good way to teach you. . . .hmm, here we go! Bilkisu is a muslim name. Was Queen Bilkisu of Yemen a Muslim? There were indigenous names that back then had no affiliation with Islam. . .they were just customary names of the people due to their roots in the AfroAsia continent. Here are some in Yoruba - Agiri, Bakare, Dawuda, Mero, and so on. Hausa had theirs as well and Amina would have been one of that. This concept of naming would be difficult for you to rationalize because you do not have the ancestral historical background from which to draw the understanding. |
If you look at some of ancient Ife arts you will see this priest cloaked in Judaic priestly flocks with the breastplates and other garments. It is also on record that the white man arrived into a Yorubaland that was already practicing Christianity handed down through generations of fore fathers that escaped persecutions in AfroAsia. They were unfamiliar with our rituals and did not know we had knowledge of who Jesus was. |
so yoruba is the only ethnic group do this?. now u are displaying your naivety. let me use example that i know, the edo people have muslims amongst them and traditionalists. have u heard of edo people fighting each other due to religious differences? another example that easily comes to mind, african-americans. they have all sorts of belief system with their group, have u heard them fighting each other due to religious differences?. . . extensions of the same Yoruba consciousness. Edo through Ife, African-American through Yoruba slaves. so how can it be religious and not cultural even though the hausas also had muslims and traditionalist fighting on the same side? btw if it was the fulanis who introduced islam to the hausa, then who introduced it to the yorubas? was there another group apart from this same hausa-fulani?West Africa has its own school of Islamic thought and it was based in Massena, now called Mali. Yorubas were present in Mali and our Islam first came through that path before the Fodio influence. By the time Fodio began there were already Yoruba scholars in Islam. Apart from that, there was a lingua franca in the West African belt that consisted of Ajami script. In fact Timi of Ede, a non-muslim was reported to have recorded his court transactions and order of duties in Ajami. |
good. i always like your version of history because it is full of fairy tales and that are quite comicalOh yes, of course, when Negro tells these tales people laugh. When the discussions lead to details and the history unfolds itself and the truth of it is revealed. . . . then everyone reflects! That is the aim of a teacher, to cause reflection in the soul of the student! Im glad you learn from me. is there any history from the caliphate to confirm this? because i know u like theorizing a lot about shyte that never happened.Yes, there is history from the Caliphate. You contact them and let us know what you get back. On Queen Amina. . . you fool, who taught you Nigerian history? Amina ruled in the times when Huasaland was worshipping idols and before Islam. Queen Bilkisu was not a muslim, yet that is an Islamic name. Names existed that were of AfroAsian descent but the people were not necessarily Muslims, even though it became Arabicised into Islam. |
so who are the "real" yorubas that are not assimilated yorubas when the yoruba construct itself is a contemporary identity? We are a commonwealth, thats what he was telling you. You have the Ijebus, Aworis, Eguns, Ijeshas, Egbas, Itsekiris, Oyos, and so on. . . each has its own dialect but they all converge into a root tongue and that root is the umbrella called Yoruba. |
President Jonathan’s government was toying with the lives of Ndigbo as it had shown insincerity in its dealings with the people of the South-east.Following the subsidy protest all over the nation, and from which the "tamed" humans in the East abstained , preferring instead to fraternize as oil owners in a new coalition dubbed SS/SE, a new political power has emerged out of the Eastern region and it is not the customary majority but a new mainstream front, an offshoot of the bomb and destroy squad called MEND. Ndigbos may have lost their majority voice and power to this new kid on the Eastern block. A government that dispatches boots and guns to the urban streets of civil society could hardly be called "sincere". |
if the hausa-fulani conquest of old oyo was not religious because the yorubas had muslims fighting on their side, then how was it religious in the hausa in the states? the hausas were already muslims for centuries before dan fodio's conquest but u term that religious and the yoruba conquest cultural. it doesnt make sense.Wrong. The Hausas were converted into Islam by the Fulani jihad. The only people in North that practiced Islam before Fodio were the Kanemis - Gambari and Kanuri. |
Katz, your use of the post to share is welcome. . . it is open for all to contribute and by the way thank you for that well versed analysis. Hey Exotic, let me give you history since you are taking us that far back into the Jihad war. This is politics section, this history is best told in culture but I think you deserve to be schooled in it this once here. Every Sultan of the Sokoto Caliphate since Uthman dan Fodio himself spoke Yoruba. It's a custom in the Fodio dynasty. Their founder, Usumani bii Foduye (popularly known and called Uthman dan Fodio) was born in Gobir of a Yoruba mother. Gobir was the frontier between Old Oyo and Old Hausa states. Yoruba called the people Gogobiri. The Caliphate has no reason to speak Yoruba, but we know how much they revere their founder and it's believed that the retention of the Yoruba tongue was in reverence to his parentage of both Fulani and Yoruba. Uthman's son and successor, Muhammad Bello, who also spoke Yoruba, was one of the earliest recorders of Yoruba roots and migration tracks. In one of his books, he complained bitterly of how the Oyo kings were taking his people as slaves. Everytime you reference the battle and defeat of Ilorin, you need to be aware that Fulani had also suffered politically in the hands of Yoruba kings that sold them off as slaves. |
The guy may still be in Nigeria but trust me, they released him so why does he need to run awayNo, he is not here, he is gooone! There are inconsistencies in the story and I will tell you how the dots connect. First, they say the guy was on his way to London but arrived in Abuja and didnt have anywhere to stay so he showed up in the Borno State Govt lodge and asked to stay but the state officials had no inkling who he was. Second, he was in company of a military officer. Third, his house in Abaji was being searched. Fourth, his custody and control was delegated outside of the command area of Abaji, his residential quarter. Here is what happened. . . . the guy was directed to stay at the lodge and await a contact. Kabiru Sokoto was a courier of some sort and between certain international points. There's a higher hierarchy to explain the absence of the military officer's absence from post. The military officer is not acting on self-duty, he is on errand for some end goal connected with the international points and his whereabouts is accounted for as a dispatch, not AWOL. If he had a home in Abaji, why would he need to go camp overnight in Borno governor's lodge? Each state has staff and guest houses in Abuja. . . .why allow an unknow and unfamiliar individual , in the middle of random assasinations and boko terror around the country, to access and stay within the premise of a Governor's residence when he could simply have been directed to one of the Borno State guest houses? Kabiru Sokoto's itinerary had been communicated to the lodge ahead of his arrival. They were expecting him. The crew that arrested him was also a part in the whole setup. Kabiru Sokoto, his arrest and escape, were all decoy . . . an illusive transition for a more sinister transaction going on in the background. Sokoto has been shipped out of the country partner! |
I posted this not to bring up any ethnic rants from you and your gang but to show the unnecessary politics involved in the protest. You punk! Your title is far removed from a political analysis of the protest. |
I guarantee you Kabiru Sokoto is in Chad or Niger already. . . . I will bet anything on that! His planned escape included a get away channell out of the country. |
Were you not around when OBJ was President? We are objective about our politics. . . .calling him anything today does not mean they wont turn around tomorrow and provide shield round him and praise him. We in West are serious about democracy. . . .the voice of the people must be heard. So much as they love Fashy, it is not a blind love. When he missteps we call him out and let him know it. When he accomplishes we blow kisses and throw flower at his feet. In the East, when your folks speak against govt they are kidnapped next day and go missing t o teach others lesson and silence their rights. Nchara said it better when he said you all did not protest like political savages did in West because you are tamed humans in the East.! |
A source told SaharaReporters that Mr. Biu was very bitter about the death of his son, Tahir Zakari Biu, an officer at the EFCC who was killed in the October 1, 2010 Independence Day bombing that claimed 27 lives in Abuja.Yoruba leading the front in a protest and deman for justice. You all ibos open ya eyes and see how national politics is played. Soon you align with SS for oil fraternity. Where is SS now to get you justice for your folks and kins killed on xmas day? Where is MASSOB or Dokubo to lead the front for justice for the slain? osu bastards!! ![]() |
. . . like Kabiru Sokoto is killing ibo and allowed to go free to plan more carnage |
Even in the North, they have Christian Governor. I dare ibo to follow their example and elect a muslim governor. You cannot because your live in a segregated custom - free born cannot marry osu. So I dont expect that your society will recognize a ibo muslim as qualified to lead you. In Yoruba custom, and with Yoruba blood. . . . we are Yoruba first before anything else! A Lagos person marry Osun person, an Ekiti person marry Oyo person, Ilorin person marry Oyo, Ogun marry Ondo, Itsekiri marry Lagos person. . . .Ijebu marry Awori, Ijesha marry Ogbomoso, Offa marry Egba, . . . . we are beyond your reach in social harmony and tribal identity. Obiagu, dayo asked you if his answers and bluetooth's were sufficient and I didnt hear your response. . . what happened? Would you like to go far back to the era of Mobolaji Johnson and Adebayo? osu rascal! You need to go find that convict they released in Abaji. . . .Kabiru Sokoto, before he shed any more ibo blood on Sunday worship instead of sitting here wondering why Yoruba governors are muslims. Katz, I wanted to draw them in so we can bare their a s s es in the harmattan wind. ![]() |
Deceit and more deceit.Great response! We are Yoruba first, Nigeria second, ChristianMuslim third. In our land, when you see a Muslim governor married to a Christian wife, then you have seen Yoruba. When you see a Christian governor whose son is married to a muslim, then you have seen Yoruba. When you see a Muslim governor whose mother is a christian, then you have seen Yoruba. When you see a ibo refugee rejected from North because he/she is christian and arrived in Lagos to the comfort and safety of our communities and lifestyles, you have seen Yoruba. |
Im glad you introduced that argument. We dont see Yoruba christians or muslims in leadership. . . we see Yoruba leaders. Awolowo, Akintola, Adelabu, Obasanjo, Shonekan, Fashola, Fasehun, Fawehinmi, . . . . for everyone of these people, they have bloodlines in Christianity and Islam. We are above that religion level. It remains a challenge in iboland. What we should ask is when are you going to elect an ibo muslim as governor? |
Eze, There is a political dimension to the oil subsidy tussle, unfortunately you focused on the surface events while the politics was swiftly sneaked under you. There is a new ethnic voice in your region, the ibo voice is now drowned and Ijaw has emerged as the mainstream. They now dictate your politics. |
Peace to you too Sam. There is no phobia attached to truth. You cannot be too truthful. . . . I am proud of my obsessive advocation of truth on behalf of my people. |
The party said Jonathan’s comments that the bulk of government’s fuel subsidy was consumed by people living in Lagos with 10 or 15 cars at the disposal of their under age children amounted to ‘meaningless propaganda’.Imagine a President saying that. Gej is the President of East. This is no different agenda than in 66 when Odumegu herded his Biafran soldiers westward. Gej had face to face meeting with the Chief Executive of Lagos hours before the deployment and did not confer with him on the deployment. There is mistrust in Govt and among the leaders and the regions. . . .it is clear! Yorubas, there is a new majority in East. . . the Ijaws, Gej has accomplished in Lagos what Ojukwu lost millions of his people trying to do. Beware and be alert about intentions from that region of Nigeria. |
However, he believes that the crisis following January 1, 2012 hike in fuel cost has left the country stronger and better.Interpretation: There is a new majority power in the East, the Ijaw country! |
Chukwuma Okafor, the DPO of Abaji is who needs to be in detention for negligence, not Zakari Biu. The policemen handling Sokoto were under the direct command of Okafor and Abaji is his direct domain and area of command. In any case, where is Sokoto? More than likely already in Cameroon or Niger, heading for London. For those discaliming the news as false when it first broke, we now know, officially, that it is true. Where is the SS and SE (the organization of oil producing villages) to vent dissaproval and protest this miscarriage of justice? Ibo life has no value. . .if it did, authorities would not let this high level murderer escape. |
The Yorubas are a Blessed race of people. Providence has favored you over your rinals. It is now upto you to recognize and keep the Grace. You are the only people in Nigeria that truly model the Abrahamic faith. Ifa came out of Noah's worship and faith in God and it came down the line to Abraham and continued to be the practice of the faithfuls up umtil Judaism was revealed to Moses. Judaism was then strenghtened with Jesus' Christianity, which in turn was strenghtened with Mohammed;s Islam. Yorubas are the only people in this country that hold on to all four practices of divine worship. When you see a Yoruba of Ifa faith, in him or her you also see a blood line of Judaic, Christianity and Islam faithfuls. Similarly, when you see a Yoruba who recites the Tira (Torah) you are looking at the bloodline of a family that recites Odu, Bible and Quran. The same applies for the Christian and as well the Muslim. If a Yoruba person start to identify himself or herself as Yoruba Christian or Yoruba Muslim, he/she has become a conduit by which his/her bloodline is splintered/ Ibos are Christians first before they are anything else of tribal identity. Hausas are muslims first before they are anything of tribal identity. Yoruba is a Yoruba first, and our tribal identity is harmonious and in alignment with our divine identity, no conflict. . . . unless we want to introduce conflict into the bloodline. It is known that when you say you are Hausa, it is automatically assumed you are Muslim. Hamza Abubakar could very well be a Christian and you don't know. Likewise, it is taken for granted that Ibos are Christians. . . in fact TOH opened a post here asking if an Ibo muslim exist! Mike Nwachukwu could be a converted Muslim, you just never know. Ibos are on a campaign to splinter the bloodline and segragate Yoruba Christian from Yoruba Muslim. Theyare not succeeding, and they will not. . . .it can only infuriate them the more that the God of Yorubas is not only actively present in Nigeria but is also operating and widening our identity in Brazil, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Honduras, Haiti, Venezuela, Trinidad, . . .and indeed in Europe through our unique atiquities from past civilizations. Yoruba ronu! Do not aid the Ibo in their attempt to tear your bloodline and belief identity. There is no Yoruba Christian and there is no Yoruba Muslim, there is only one Yoruba. . . .and that is us! Aiye a yewa o, Ase! |
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Thanks Protesters – “We rely On YouNo, you rely on boots and guns! |
Negro, nothing personal, but "commomn ancestry", hell no!Shango, go back in my post and point to me where you see the word common ancestry. |
To all Yorubas, A marathon meeting concluded few hours ago, hosted by OPC, and with attendance from one other Yoruba group and one Northern group. It will be followed by another one on Friday. The call is a reasurrance of your safety in the North. While the two parts intend a separate and independent existence, the meeting was a follow up to a previous one held on the tail of OPC's warning to bokoharam. You are reassured that you are no more a victim of boko terror than the Hausa is, for every Yoruba accidentaly killed there are two or three Hausa/Fulani/Kanuri similarly fallen. The two sides take reference from their similar historical ancestry in the West African belt to highlight the need for cooperation going forward. The treaty of the joint step calls for periodic consultation, hosted alternately amongst the two races. The attendees remarked on the President's dispatch of military on the streets in West and North but had no conclusion to share. It would likely be a major theme in the Friday followup. |
Security was looking for Kabiru Sokoto and instead arrested a wrong person. Instead of admitting error, they turned him loos and attributed to escape. Incompetence leading incompetence!! |
The mastermind behind christmas day bombing in which many ibo lives, men, women and children, were lost was arrested last week. He had been tracked for many days before his arrest in Abuja couple of days ago. Report circulating the airwaves declared he had escaped police detention. If this is indeed true, the souls of those lost will be in vain. Moreso, the souls of those living their legacy will also be in vain, if they fail to rise up and demand justice. SE owes it a duty in memory of Ojukwu's struggle for his people to bring justice to the victims. To this end, a protest to denounce this blatant insult will be in proper order. SE should not bear its cross alone, their brother and kin, SS should join with them in demanding justice and answer. |
Beaf, you succeeded in convincing Ibos that you and them are one people and they should camp with you to break the influence of SW. Ignorant of your sinister motive they believed. Under a false sense of security they put aside their grieving spirits over bokoharam to join and support you in your pro SS rally. They cheered and rejoiced a victorious GEJ deploying guns and boots to Lagos. That was yesterday. Today has dawned and boko is back in news. Their grief is returned, welcomed by the sad news that Kabiru Sokoto escaped. They need you now to standby them and be pro SE in whichever way you know to, including getting Gej to dispatch incompetent zombies to Abaji to fish sokoto out. Instead, your downcreek a s s is here opening posts about what police retrieved at the raid. How does this post help your kinsmen in SE? You are a fool. . .but even worse, the ibos are retarded for believing in your fake fraternal order of oil producing villages that you both put up in the SS/SE coalition. Get ya downcreek behind in that escape post and console your SE brothers, before you take us on your london connection, go resolve the Abaji connection first of all. |
