Politics / Re: 2023: Electronic Transmission Of Results Not Mandatory – APC Replies Atiku, Obi by nelajayi(m): 10:52pm On Mar 08, 2023
Life can be very interesting! We see times and times again how beneficiaries of a bad process fight tooth and nail to prove it was a good one only for tables to turn and they start a different song. I think INEC’s failure should be condemned by all concerned and the beneficiaries should be open to possible efforts of correcting it. Having a good process in place helps everyone regardless of where we find ourselves tomorrow.

I’m obidient and not a fan of FFK but I think he’s absolutely right this time. As it stands, Obi enjoys primarily the support of enlightened voters (professionals in many fields, graduates without jobs, students etc), some Christians (I know some of them will go for Atiku) and perhaps ibo ethnic group (we hope they deliver for their son). Unfortunately the unenlightened voters are the majority in Nigeria (you find majority of these in the north and they are driven primarily by ethnicity and religion). The buzz among the youth for Obi is from the southern youths (the enlightened ones). Before the youth population can be useful, we need the unenlightened majority to be on board. The ruling class deliberately made it difficult for anyone to become enlightened so they can retain their army of unenlightened voters they can use year in, year out. If we want Obi to win in 2023, we need to stay close to our unenlightened young people to ensure they are guided. We can’t do much to the old folks but we need secure the backing of the unenlightened young people. It is sad that democracy is a game of numbers, not of good numbers

Politics / Re: Abubakar Elkanemi, Shehu Of Borno To Buhari: We’re Still Under Boko Haram Siege by nelajayi(m): 8:54pm On Nov 30, 2018
Emir, it's just 'technical attack'; boko haram has been technically defeated so relax. federal government is in control
kurt09:
Abubakar Elkanemi, shehu of Borno, says the people of the state are still under Boko Haram seige.

Elkanemi said this when President Muhammadu Buhari paid him a courtesy call at his palace in Shehuri, Maiduguri, on Thursday.

The monarch dismissed claims by security operatives that the ongoing military operations, particularly in some parts of the state and the Lake Chad region, was yielding positive result.

He said nobody dares move 10 kilometres out of the state without being attacked, adding that farmers are being killed and kidnapped on a daily basis.

While applauding Buhari, the monarch said there is much to be done for the people of the state to be free from the insurgents attacks.

“On behalf of the traditional institution in Borno, I want to commend your excellency for the commitment you have given towards ending the lingering crisis of Boko Haram,” he said.

“It is unfortunate that despite all efforts put in place to restore peace in our land and the north-east, we the people of Borno state are still under Boko Haram siege.

“Nobody can dare move out of Maiduguri by 10 kilometres without being confronted, attacked by Boko Haram.

“Quite a number of farmers are being killed and kidnapped on a daily basis around Molai General Area, which is just 10 kilometres away from the metropolis, along Maiduguri -Damboa -Biu road.

“Most of the surrounding villages and communities in Konduga, Damboa, Mafa and other local government areas have been razed down in the last two weeks.

“We plead that the federal government and the security agencies review the strategies in nipping this lingering crisis in the bud.”

The north-east has been under series of attack by the insurgents, the latest being the attack on the 157 task force battalion in Metele, Borno.

Over 100 soldiers were reportedly killed in the attack but the army said it lost 39 men.

Hello nelajayi,

We do not look at these types of documents. You will need to explain it to the officer.

Hello guys,
I will be at the embassy during the coming week for my f1 visa interview. I work with an IT firm which has agreed to a leave of absence for the duration of my masters in the US. I know i'm expected to come with supporting documents like bank statement etc for the interview; what supporting document should i ask my office to prepare for me as evidence of the fact that i work with em and they are approving a leave of absence for me?
