No2Atheism:Okay. I see. Actually, your preference for light skinned black women is very common among black men. But I see your point now. |
LadyT:I think most parents are usually against it b/c our cultures are very different, not really the color. |
humbleboy:This was a very honest account. Plus, even though she does not say anything negative about black guys, she does imply that it would be easier for a white guy to win her over. @Sasha: Did you ever ask your parents why they don't want you with a white guy? You might have an easier time dating them, but maybe that could be b/c white men are usually known to be more romantic PUBLICLY. You might have an easier time DATING a white guy, but you might have an easier time being MARRIED to a black guy, especially a nigerian guy since you are nigerian. But if what guys are what you like then go for it, but just keep in mind that dating is not the same as marriage. |
JamaicanQT:That sounds a bit hyporitical, but I do know what you mean that some black men see a white woman as a prize. However, I've also seen some black girls who think they are high and mighty. b/c they have a white boyfriend. I think it's just that some black people feel special when they are with a white person. You can love who you love, but don't act like they are better than everyone else. |
slimfine:Yea, I agree. I feel the same. |
phantom:I agree. I'm not saying there are not good looking Ghanaians, but they are not the best examples of African beauty. Besides, Nigeria has a population of 150 million, so there are more people to choose from. Of course they are gonna have the largest film industry, b/c there country is huge and population is huge. I'm not saying Nigeria is better than other African countries, but they are bigger than all other african countries (at least by population) Ghana is about 20 million. For for roughly about every Ghanaina there are 7 Nigerians. Ghana and Nigeria should not have their film industries competing against each other, but they should work together since they are all africans. |
to the poster: I'm african, but I'm not ghanaian or nigerian. I always thought nigerians as a whole looked better than ghanaians. here in new york, most of the ghanaians I see are not very good looking. I usually joke about how Ghana chooses their best looking ghanaians to act in the movies, b/c the majority are not good looking, but there are however some good looking ghanaians dont get me wrong. Doesn't Ghana follow Nigeria's lead with the movie industry? Nollywood was the first African film capital, was it not? Then Ghollywood came after. Plus Nigerian actresses are definitely still better looking. Come on, Rita Dominic is much prettier than Jackie. Her form is too think like many Ghanaians. I do agree that Nadia and others you mentioned are gorgeous, but they are mixed race. A lot of Nigeria's gorgeous actors are not all mixed, but for Ghanaians why is it that the majority are mixed, when we all know that it is not representative of all of Ghana. Nigeria has many mixed actors, but the majority are not and represent all of Nigeria. |
Who dem be?
the sexiest men alive lol, but seriously, there are nfl players. umenyiora plays for the NY Giants and Asomugha plays for the Oakland Raiders. |
ifyalways:lol, yes, i guess you must have seen my post about igbo guys. You said Nnamdi looks like your husband? what a handsome husband you must have then. |
mmunive21:thanks girl. but you were raised by a black woman. you are still a black woman. hey u never know. u live in oakland. u could have a chance. |
omg starstruck thanks 4 postin that pick of nnamdi. he is the perfect example of a fine igbo man. and unlike these other american football player, he doesn't seem to have any bad reputation that i know of. |
Hotstepper:why do you THINK you personally know him? who's the other one you know? if you do know them, then aren't you lucky. |
olanajim:That's very true. Marriage is not all about a fairytale of love like Western television likes to depict it. Although I do not support arranged marriages, there is a reason why most of them last longer than the average western marriage, which is based on so called love. I think people should choose who they marry, but a strong culture and religious values is very important in a marriage to me. That is why marriages in Africa tend to last long. Many people complain that with Africans you don't only marry the person, but their whole family. I don't see anything wrong with that because marriage is not only about the two of you, the immediate family matter as well, because you will be an extension of the family and that includes your children too. I would want a marriage where my in-laws and my parents get along well. I also think feminism in the western world might make woman try too much to act like the man. I am not the type of woman that would let my man treat me like a maid, but I do feel like the man should be the head of the household. You can't go into marriage expecting your husband to be the perfect prince. Also some women also marry for money. Now you know those marriages never last, b/c once the money is gone so is the woman. I am not married yet, but when I do, I will marry someone that I know I want to be with forever and have children and grandchildren. Basically, in choosing a man I would ask myself 1. Is this the person I want to wake up next to everyday? 2. Is this the person I would want to be the father of my children? 3. How is he with his family, especially his mother? That would give me an insight on how he is with women. 4. How is he with my family? Do they like him? If they don't approve of him, I would really sit down and think why they would not since they would only want the best for me. 5. How does he feel about me staying a virgin till marriage? Now if he stays with me knowing that, then I know he really cares. If not, he would just move on to the another girl since I'm not the only girl with a *****. To me giving it up won't make you special or unique to him since he can get sex from any girl. 6. Is he handsome? (LOL, just kidding!). Well that's just my criteria. I hope it's successful in the future lol, |
OgidiBoy:lol sure. but on a more serious note, is there any such thing as an igbo muslim? religion is the only reason why i wouldn't get involved with an igbo. |
Outstrip:Where is Djimoun Hounsou from? Personally, I have never met a Nigerian that was very very dark like you described. They ususally don't tend to be as dark as Gambians tend to be. But yes really dark skin looks so sexy. I don't like the igbo guys who are very light like mulattoes ( no offesne meant). I do like light skin guys (like nnamdi asomugha) but not too light. |
OgidiBoy:one of my yoruba guy friends. actually, he's half-white too. but i think it's just his bias. all groups have abusive men. |
sisqology:i'm not naija so what do you mean? |
omo yoruba:lol, ok yoruba men are handsome. does that make you happy? |
follypimpi:wow, why do some people on NL have to be so negative. once again the marriage thing was a joke. |
C2H5OH:oh no i'm gambian. why do you think i'm white? i'm not shallow, i definitely won't choose a husband soley based on looks. that was a joke, but i probably wouldn't marry an igbo since most of them are christian and i'm muslim. |
I know all of nigeria's tribes like the Yorubas have many good looking men, but I am so attracted to igbo men. It makes me want an igbo husband lol, But seriously doesn't any other girl think so? There are handsome like Osi Umenyiora, Nnamdi Asomugha (my future husband, lol i wish), and Amobi Okoye and some of my friends. How are igbo men generally as husbands? One of my yoruba guys friends told me that yoruba guys are nicer and igbo men beat their wives, but I though he was just being biased. |
Chisara Victoria, or Victoria Chisara, either way it would b a wonderful combo |
for igbo i would say chisara english- victoria |
@ ghettochyk well rita is wayyy prettier than omotola to me. don't see what is so stunning about omotola. she's just an average pretty woman. if rita is no match for rai, can someone name any african woman that you think is just as pretty as rai or even more beautiful. Despite the fact that rita is gorgeous, I knew EVERYONE would say rai. I have yet to see a black woman who is REGARDED to be as stunning as rai and overrated angelina jolie. i know there are many, but never one on television. oh don't tell me agbani darego, b/c she is not that stunning to me. there are far more beautiful women in nigeria who could have won that pageant. |
chiogo:wow really? |
